Persian restaurants are tricky because Persian food can be cooked very differently depending on family/cultural traditions. Although the food was good, I can’t say it was the best Persian food I’ve had The Kashke-bademjan(eggplant) which is usually my favorite dish, seemed pretty meh. My favorite kashke-bademjan I’ve had so far is served at Bijan. The koobideh was also not my favorite. It seemed a little under-cooked, and I felt the ratio of onions-beef was a little off for my taste. Darband is my go-to for kabob. The fesenjan(pomegranate/walnut stew) was way too sour for my taste. See the problem with fesenjan, is that depending on the chef, the stew can range from sweet to sour. There is nothing wrong with sour fesenjan, but personally… i don’t like it. My favorite fesenjan is served at Kasra. Garson’s strong points are its ambiance and its service. The location is open, and feels homey unlike many other persian restaurants in the city. Also our server was very attentive, and never let our bread plate or drinks go empty. Again– something I haven’t experienced at other Persian restaurants.

First time here and I did NOT like anything except the grilled vegetables on the appetizer menu. I ordered grilled vegetables and tabouli for app. The tabouli is edible but they put too much lime/lemon juice. Too sour for tabouli. For my entrée I ordered the chicken barg with their yogurt & cucumber paste. The paste was too thick. Didn’t like it. The chicken didn’t taste good at all. Rice was bland. My friend ordered the Garson Special and it was so-so. Definitely NOT the best place for Mediterranean food, however, I would definitely recommend Kasra’s if you’re in the mood for Persian/Mediterranean food. By far the best in town!

Mustakeer(spelling may be wrong) — consistency is thicker compared to Kasra –may have came from bulk judging by texture Tabouli salad –perhaps they squeezed too much lime on mines… Grilled Vegetables –comes with grilled zucchini. squash, Mushrooms smells delish! –this is legit, perfect grilled flavor!**** –I would order this again! And dip it in the home made hot sauce(taste like spicy home made salsa) Garson special pasta –smells like butter yum! Bearable but not desirable. The chive sauce is creamy, doesn’t taste too bad. Our server says its comparable to Alfredo … Slightly different Chicken barg… –I wasn’t really feeling this chicken marinade Our lady server was great! Atmosphere is sophisticated, the bread herb and cheese. Love it! But the best dish was grilled veggies!

Waited all these years to go eat at Garson. Finally tried it tonight and didn’t have a good experience at all. 1. Parking is horrible.. Not many places to park. 2. Food. the waitress kept touching the bread with her hands when serving it. Not sure if she washed her hands 3. 2 people in our group ordered beef koobideh. Both ending sick throwing up and diarrhea. Never ever going to this place. .ever. Been going to the competition located on westheimer and gessner for years and always a good experience.. There is usually a wait to get seated. .but worth it

Delicious food, friendly service and cheaper compared to others. We loved the bread and hummus, amazing and bread is unlimited. :) Yum! It does come out hot and fresh the best way to get it. The lamb was delicious and fell off the bone so tender! Rice was delicious and everything was in generous portions. Which who doesn’t love that? The plates were delicious. The kids each had a chicken kabob with rice and lots of chicken on the stick. The coffee was a delight, it was Turkish and then regular coffee. Great! The tabelouh was amazing and the hummus was suberb. I highly recommend this place if you are nearby or would love to come for some great tasting Mediterranean food. Thumbs up!

Place is too legit. Ordered hummus, salad and another dish that I don’t remember the name of. I could have bathed in a bucket of that hummus it was the biz. Since I ordered my food to go I was a little bummed that they didnt put utensils in the bag. That didn’t stop me from eating my salad with my fingers though! Judge me all you want but when you’re far from home and hungry you’ll eat with your fingers too I’m sure. Ha! It was still good! No shame! Next time I’m in the area I’ll more than likely stop by again hoping they remember my utensils. Don’t let those two dollar signs fool you. This place is def more of a three dollar sign restaurant.

Good place! We went on a Friday night and they had a talented belly dancer performance at 830! Enough scant women talk, on to the food! Hummus was good… But not enough for what we paid for! I had the chicken sultani which had a combination of chicken barg and chicken koobideh and it was good! The meat was tender and juicy. It came with dill rice and the dill flavor was definitely overpowering and it takes away from the dish. My fiancé had a veggie pesto pasta it was good. Overall I’ve had better and wish they tweaked the flavor profiles of the food a bit.

I’m Persian so I know my Persian food. Ive been to Garson many times and it never disappointed. I can say that it is one of the best Persian/Mediterranean restaurants I have ever been in Houston. They have the best hummus I have ever had. I loved their Persian style eggplant and tah-deeg(crispy rice topped with a special Persian stew) appetizer too. I always get the chenjeh kabob with sour cherry rice. It is very tender beef kabob with fluffy rice and when combined with sour cherry gives it an unforgettable taste. I’m not a big dessert guy so I’ve never tried any of the desserts, but I always ask for a it off with a nice cup of Persian mint tea which is also great and soothing. Their service was always very good, specially Salar. He was very nice and kept checking on us to see if everything is perfect. Overall I’ve been very satisfied with my experience and Garson.

***Updated Review 12/24/2015**** Was a bit unhappy after my second visit as I thought I was over-charged with 18% tip included in my tab while I paid additional 18% without realizing the additional amount. However, I sent an email later to the restaurant and they confirmed me that they never include additonal tip added by customers. It is the restaurant’s policy to include 17% service charge in the check(dine in only). It is good to see the restaurant owners and staff taking their customer’s concerns seriously and it shows their commitment. I took out my dinner from the restaurant today on christmas eve and the staff was very welcoming and friendly. The food was good and we enjoyed every bit of it. I will keep coming back. Thank you folks!

Came here with one of my best friends, who’s Persian and their family so I had lots of help deciding what to order. Pleased to say though that everything I tasted I enjoyed. Don’t come here thinking that it’s going to be similar to most generic Mediterranean places you see around Houston that serve kabob. The flavors are different. The standout dish for me was actually the first thing that we were served. The Babaghanosh is this chunky eggplant dip that I couldn’t stop eating with the naan. Actually, it really did go well with everything I had that night and the bowl its served in is pretty big. Overall it was a great experience and I look forward to not only coming back here but trying other more popular Persian restaurants in the city.

I had a work event in the area so checked out Garson after my boss recommended it. Nice looking restaurant and they serve you fresh pita bread to start things off. The bread wasn’t as fluffy as ilike it but good nonetheless to start things off. I went with the Garson special which is a combo meal of chicken and beef kebabs with ½ white rice and ½ dill rice. I hadn’t had dill rice before but it’s tasty and I would take it over white rice every time. The meat was juicy and well-seasoned with the beef being better than the chicken. Service was pretty good and it’s a nice looking restaurant. They also had fresh lemonade which is always a plus in my book! Good food, nothing stood out and you’ll have enough for a to-go box as they give you plentiful rice.

This is a good three stars, as in «It was A-OK!!!», a 3++, like if it got into a fight with the other three star reviews I’ve given, it would win.(& granted, before my drive down to Houston, I had just eaten the best gyro wrap I have ever had in Austin, so my taste buds had high standards tonight). I got food here with a group of nine. Despite some of the haterade towards the servers here, ours were pretty decent, no complaints there. We started off with naan and a tray of hummus, babaghanosh(mashed egg plant with sesame seed oil, lemon juice, and garlic), and tzatziki. The naan they served sprinkled with sesame seeds was by far more delicious, with that nutty, sesame flavor. The downside about their naan was that the edges were very fluffy and soft, but the middle was thin, insubstantial, and crunchy — I prefer naan that tastes like a puffy and airy pillow through and through. The dips were all pretty good. As for the meat, the lamb shank was amazing. It was melt-in-your-mouth tender, perfectly and lightly seasoned, and flavored with a soupy tomato sauce. The tomato sauce was so good, everyone at the table was mixing it into their rice. I also got to try the grilled salmon and the barg(strips of charboiled beef rib eye). The salmon was a bit overcooked and didn’t taste like much; the barg was tender but lacked the«juiciness» it claims on the menu, as well as the flavor. Some of the grilled vegetables they came with tasted pretty charred on the outside. Dessert was great though. All in all, we tried the cheesecake, apple pie, baklava, and saffron icecream. The first three were pretty average, but the saffron ice cream was amazing! It tastes sort of earthy from the saffron, but sweet, flavored with some sort of honey? There are also pistachios in the ice cream, so the mix of flavors and textures was pretty wonderful. YUMM. I could eat it all day.

We tried this restaurant for the first time and were very impressed. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was great. We will definitely be back. The Kabab koobideh, tomato and cucumber salad, dill yogurt, sour cherries for the rice, and quail appetizer are all recommended.
