$ 10 for Cheeseburger, Fries, Drink. Maybe a $ 3 burger. Under-cooked fries. Not a place for burgers.

I go for lunch, the turkey breast is good, so is the jalapeño sausage. Do not get the turkey burger. It’s like a frozen floppy patty. Not what you would expect, it’s not ground turkey. It’s gross. Call ahead if you want something not on the line. Fairly expensive.

Decided to try this out for lunch over Boaz Dumplings… glad I did, now I know that if I want dry chicken and dry brisket to stop here. The smoked turkey was pretty decent… though not good enough to make me want to come back for more. Throw enough barbecue sauce on it and you can’t tell how dry it is. The people here were friendly and adjacent to them is a wrap station which looks like they are basically the same place, but there is a wrap center you can take pieces of the different types of meat from the BBQ place and put it in your wrap. I think I will try that place next time.

I love barbecue. I love barbecue. I love barbecue. This place is good. I will return again. Brisket was good. Pulled pork was good. Not much else to say. Can’t wait to go back

This place is pretty good. It’s not great, but it’s definitely not terrible. Today is my 3rd time having Charlie’s for lunch and well, it never really got any better than«Meh, not bad». By the other reviews on Unilocal,I was really expecting something great, but have always been met with mediocrity. I’ve had the Brisket, Mild Sausage, Hot Sausage, Smoked Turkey, Chicken Leg, Pork Rib and Smoked Ham, so admittedly, I’ve only gone here when I’m craving BBQ, but c’mon it’s in the name. The sausages were pretty tasty and both the smoked turkey and ham were very good, but the pork rib and chicken leg were fairly lack-luster. The biggest disappointment to me was the brisket. The brisket! The pinnacle of any great BBQ joint(in my opinion) and it was absolutely bland. It really saddens me when brisket(or any BBQ) requires a post-cook lathering of sauce to be flavorful, especially when that sauce is quite awful. Ok, ok, I’m going off on a tangent here and I honestly don’t mean to, sorry. Where was I? Oh right, the brisket, c’mon! Alright, I’m not going to review any of the side dishes because I really haven’t found any that I like. So… with all my negativity, why am giving Charlie’s a 3 star rating? The answer to that is simply because the sausages, the smoked turkey and the smoked ham are worth it. I don’t hate Charlie’s, it definitely works in a pinch, but I won’t be raving about it anytime soon.

This place in the tunnels downtown is closed right now for renovations which made me realize how much I miss and love this place. I try to avoid writing reviews for meat-dominant places since I don’t think my vegetarian opinion should count, but I am writing about their amazing breakfast tacos. Everything is already prepared, they just scoop the eggs, potatoes, and cheese out of containers, slap them in a taco and you’re good to go. But it works and it’s delicious. The eggs are fluffy and more importantly, the potatoes are crispy and seasoned well. I love to have the green salsa they serve you to go with it. Pretty cheap, the way breakfast tacos should be. It is right under my office building so a lot of my coworkers eat here. One person loves her Swiss and mushroom omelet, which she calls ahead and custom orders to have more mushrooms and to be prepared with less butter. The pancakes and bacon are also supposed to be good. A lot of people will order the loaded baked potato fairly regularly, and it smells really good. Doesn’t matter to me, I could just eat the breakfast tacos all day, every day. Prices are reasonable and the counter service is fast and friendly enough. I have never seen anyone sit down and eat, but they do have a few tables in there. It’s a staple in my office, and I can’t wait for it to be back.

Overall Rating: 4 Food Selection(BBQ): 4 Food Price(Cheap vs expensive): 5 Atmosphere: 3(Just a hole in the wall) Staff: 5 — Great people Charlies is my favorite BBQ place to go in the Fannin area. They are SUPER friendly and offer a great spread. They have the best omelets in the morning as well! I like to get an egg white with biscuits and they do it right.

I’ve only really had their salads, which I love! They make this amazing dressing– cilantro ranch. Get it and you won’t regret it. I’ve tried their BBQ a few times but I can’t recall what I thought of it so it must not be that memorable. It’s not horrible though

Quick place to grab a bite to eat. They have many of the same BBQ selections daily.

This was my first visit and all I got was the salad, my coworker raves about the salad and the fruit. I carefully chose a fresh salad with egg, grilled chicken, and feta cheese. I got the balsamic vinaigrette. Salad was fresh, tomatoes a little green but otherwise what I would expect from a BBQ joint with salads. Everything was great until I opened the dressing container. There was a black hair inside! I have blonde hair so I know it wasn’t mine. I finished the salad without dressing :(

I had the two meat combo, brisket and sausage with Charlie’s beans and potato salad. The brisket was pretty good but not blow you away good. The sausage had a lot of flavor. The potato salad could use a little less mayonaise. The Charlie’s beans are delicious. All in all it was good but not a stand out. My only problem with the place is they give you 2 pieces of bread and if you want more you pay. The counter help was not exactly nice about it either.

For downtown tunnel BBQ this place is good. For real world BBQ this place is eh. I’ve eaten a couple combos. Their egg, bacon, chz breakfast tacos though are AWESOME. I put some homemade sauce on it and bam! I’m actually happy to be awake so early. The bacon they use is a good thickness and they cook it crispy. I’ve also had their chorizo, which tastes how almost all other chorizo tacos taste.

I went back for that stuffed potato. man, that was Yummy. This place deserves the five stars not only for the food, but the effort and the location. Small corner in downtown shops and they seriously pull it off!

Love this place! The food is customized to what you order, they have a huge menu, and the service is great. I order the grilled chicken sandwich, and love the lamb gyro. Off the menu they will hook you up with a lamb burger, or anything else you ask for really. The burgers have just the right combo of mustard and other ingredients.

Cheeseburger, fries, and drink, for only $ 6.50. The cheeseburger came with two super thin patties, which I think is great. Thin = more flavor when it comes to burgers, in my opinion, so this was perfect. Seasoned with black pepper, I ordered mine with just cheese, lettuce, and tomato. I like it simple, and this burger hit the spot… and didn’t leave me broke. The staff is super nice as usual… and I think that’s why everyone that comes in there acts like they’re regulars!

Ah Charlies, how I love your food! And your signs… I especially like the fruit salad for 2.75 and oranges for .092 cents. I would just round up to .10 cents, but you have be cool and charge that extra .002 cents :) Okay, so the food — I’ve had breakfast and lunch here — breakfast is pretty good. kinda hard to screw up omelets and breakfast taco’s. I love the BBQ meat you put in the Western — yummo! As for lunch, I *love* your baked potato«all the way» with BBQ sauce on the side. The sauce is good — and warm! I know all that butter, sour cream and carbs from the potato aren’t good for me, but I don’t care! Its delicious, fresh, hot and that BBQ meat is so delicious. Grab your order to go – there are TWO small tables in the place. So, craving BBQ? come to Charlies in the tunnels. Any good tunnel dweller knows to be in the tunnels when its pouring cats and dogs and mice and men outside, plus its airconditioned :)
