Customer service was great. I LOVE shrimp fried rice so Im always on the look for some. This rice was cooked to perfection! Riggt amount of onions, right amount of egg, right amount of bean sprouts. They even threw in 3 little hushpuppies. Simply great. I never notice this restaurant before but now it will be a staple.

This is one of the finest Chinese restaurants I’ve ever been to. Nothing prepackaged here. Homemade, done right and healthy. Not something you can often say about most Americanized Chinese food places. Give it a shot.

First timers. We ordered the egg rolls. They were like heaven. Than for our early dinner before the Astros game we had the lemon chicken. One plate is enough to share. Absolutely delicious. The time we ate here was around 4:30. Please don’t come at this time so I don’t have to want to enjoy my dinner. I will be back.

I was at the restaurant today. Their menu is expensive. You can not find any food in there that is less than 1200. Appetizers are expensive. The manager was rude and hardly wanted to talk to me. She was desintrested. The waiter did not speak English. They would not accommodate to half an order of rice and vwggies. I had to leave the place. I would not come back even if I am starving.

Definitely my go to chinese take out spot. The people that own it are awesome and seem to know all their regulars. Never had anything I didn’t like here, and while as others note that it’s certainly american-chinese food, it’s probably one of the better spots for this genre of food in the area. Their egg rolls are pretty legit too, you really never know what you’re getting into trying new chinese restaurants, but theirs are pretty well done. If you need guidance around what is a huge menu, I like their general tso’s chicken, hunan beef and the lemon chicken every once in a while.

This is one of my long-time Houston favorites. They have the best eggrolls in the entire city hands-down and great old school charm. Oh, and the lemon chicken — let’s just say there’s an outside chance I would trade my firstborn for the recipe. Easily one of my top 10 dishes in the entire city of Houston. Located right next door to the parking garage at Toyota Center, this is a great place to go pre-or post game for the Rockets or other events at Toyota Center. And you get discounted parking in their lot if you eat there.

We love China Garden! Definitely the best to get if you’re in the EaDo area. Their egg rolls are fantastic, as is their won ton soup. Normally we get noodles, which are always great, but their other entrees are pretty great too. Literally the only bad thing about this place is they don’t deliver, but it’s well worth the trip!!!

Love this place. And the best waitress is Mindy… She always on top of her game. My original order is chicken chow mein, one egg roll, wonton, and tea.

Disgusting! I ordered shrimp fried rice. When the waiter brought it, I asked him what the brown greasy pile was, and he said it was fried sweet and sour pork. Although I explained to him numerous times that I don’t eat fried pork and I didn’t order it, he wouldn’t take it back. He said that shrimp fried rice comes with fried pork(are you kidding?) Eating around it wasn’t possible because the plate was swimming in grease. I finally gave up, was given a $ 5 «discount» — only charged $ 10 for the food I couldn’t eat — and went somewhere else for lunch.

Not impressed at all with the food. The famous lemon chicken was too sweet no savory at all. All the food had very weird aftertaste like it had been in the fridge too long but he service was excellent the staff was friendly and personable. I would have liked to enjoy the food as well as the service.

The ambiance is nice… the décor is nice… the staff are friendly and attentive. That said, the food is a bit lackluster: it seems ‘watered down’ for American tastes. I had the Mongolian Beef and some Egg Drop soup. The Mongolian Beef was supposed to be ‘spicy’, and tasted more like Hoisin barbeque. The egg in the Egg Drop Soup was overcooked: it’s supposed to be more poached and runny. As I said, it attracts the local business patrons, usually in groups. But if you want a more genuine Chinese experience, there are better…

Came here last week for lunch and everything was great. From the service to the food. First let me say I had the lemon chicken lunch portion. It was bomb. Unilocal wasn’t lying. The lemon chicken is the best I’ve had and comes with fried rice and eggroll(which is also delicious). My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Mmmm. The service was good. I don’t remember my waiters name but he was very attentive and fast. Then again I came for a late lunch around 2:30 so I’m not sure how it would be for dinner time. But I will definitely be back. Just sucks that they don’t deliver, but I don’t mind driving for that lemon chicken.

Was in the Houston area for a convention this past week and stopped here for dinner with some friends. Keying off older Unilocal reviews, we ordered egg rolls, lemon chicken, seafood combination lo mein, and hunan beef. Service was friendly and food arrived pretty quickly. Egg rolls — decent, but little different than usual; very large but stuffed mostly with cabbage Seafood combination lo mein — tasty; big, delicious pieces of scallops, shrimp, crawfish Hunan beef — very good; mix a mix of crunchy/spicy/sweet Lemon chicken — DELICIOUS; not usually a fan of this combo, but couldn’t stop eating this For those complaining about prices — yes, the prices are higher than other places. But, we are pretty big eaters and the portions here are HUGE. We ate a lot and still had 2 to-go boxes. Between the 3 of us, we could have easily ordered just 2 plates(no appetizers) and still been stuffed. Bottom line: Do yourself a favor and try the lemon chicken!

Real disappointed in service and food. I was excited to come here because of so many good reviews. Maybe I just had one of the few things that weren’t spectacular on the menu. Came here on a Monday for lunch. Pros: –Huge parking lot — close to cool areas in Htown — decently priced — sell alcoholic drinks — lots of seating — took AMEX Cons: — ordered the Spicy Veggie Soft Noodles. Some of the noodles were burned. The veggie selection on the plate was lackluster. — i asked if adding tofu was an option because as a vegetarian I usually add it onto my plates. The server(Steve) laughed at me and said«no we don’t do that here.» Seemed pretty unaccommodating. — service was poor other — friend got sweet and sour chicken. and didn’t like it either. :/ Will not return. Would not recommend unless someone is starving and needs a place with parking.

I’ve only ordered take out from China Garden and it has only been eggrolls, but my goodness they are the best ever! I don’t typically eat Chinese food, but my coworker wanted me to try the eggrolls from here, so I obliged. It took everything in me not to ask for another. I live downtown and one day I was craving some China Garden eggrolls. I ordered to-go and they were ready in less than 10 minutes. Can’t beat that! The next time my mother-in-law comes in town, I’ll be taking her here since she loves Chinese food!

This is Strang, Chinese food always tastes better the next day. Not here dont know why? So, 1 eggroll 1 entre and 1 tea $ 20. For downtown i guess that is ok. Up date now spent 20 and got burnt food!

If you are feeling hungry, China Garden can take away your hunger pain! Get to meet the family, they are very nice and friendly! They welcome you into their restaurant and serve great homemade Chinese food. They have been here since the original China-town and it’s the closest restaurant to the Toyota Center. I regularly order lemon chicken, grilled fish, and spicy chicken. Sometimes I will get an egg roll if I’m feeling extra hungry. The egg rolls are huge! The Lemon chicken comes saucy and it’s cooked to perfection. The grilled fish is grilled of course and served with lemon butter sauce. I cannot get enough of this sauce and I like to drown the fish with it. If you haven’t tried their spicy chicken, it’s really guud! It’s not spicy, but the flavor is mouthwatering. Most of the time, I will force myself to finish it because I don’t like wasting food. Jalapeño shrimp is also a great dish! They do take-out and I do that occasionally for my family when I am going home from Downtown. Lunch portions are already very filling. Sometimes I can’t finish it in one sitting so I take the rest to go. For dinner, I find with a group of friends. We like to have our dishes served family style so everyone gets to touch each dish. We do get stuffed I tell you! Keep in mind, they have large portions = more bang for the buck! Get ready to feed that empty belly and make it feel full like a hot air balloon.
