The place is very small, but does have some booths, so theoretically they want to provide for eat-in customers although catering to take-out. However, there was no one at the counter when I went in. I took a take-out menu from the pile on the corner and figured out what I wanted, but there was no one to take my order. Finally a guy came out not to see if he could do anything for me, but to deliver a bag of food to a customer who’d been waiting in one of the booths. The server didn’t greet me or indicate he would be with me in a moment; in fact he rather glared at me as if I was in the way. I took the hint and left. The only reason this isn’t a 1-star review is that they did seem to have a nice menu, and I would have loved to have tried their food, but there’s too many places in Houston that know how to welcome and provide service to customers for me to waste my time on a place that sees a customer as a nuisance.

I love this place. Guilty pleasure of mine. I would say that the majority of the dishes are good, a small percent are not. WHATTOGET: Cheese Wontons! Egg drop soup, chicken and rice soup.(By the way, a «small» soup is the same size as a large at most places, and the large is huge– and all soups are fairly priced). Entrees: Coconut Shrimp, Veg Lo Mein, Triple Delight, and everything else, EXCEPT: NOT A FANOF: the fried rices, and someone I know said that the coconut chicken was bad(but maybe a fluke). Prepared in reasonable time and always delivered promptly. Love the nice people that work here. Love the food and service.

I wasn’t so sure about this place at first because ever since I started working in the area, out of the three Chinese Restaurants, this place had the worst rating. On top of that, I had very mixed reviews from a couple of my favorite Unilocalers who each rated this place a one and a four stars! Well, since my favorite go-to Chinese Restaurant, Golden Wok, is currently closed(moving to a new location), I wanted to find a place that has Orange Chicken Lunch Special(Eastern doesn’t offer this). So, it’s a good time as ever to check this place out. When I came in, the restaurant was empty so I placed my order at the counter(I was dining in). I ordered the orange chicken lunch special with wonton soup, which is what I always get at Golden Wok. The soup came out immediately. And instead of only getting one wonton as I would at Golden Wok, I get two instead so that’s a plus. The dish came out not long after and it tasted decent. It wasn’t the best but it wasn’t the worst either. I know that at Golden Wok, they claimed to only use white meat. Not sure if this is the case here, but the lunch special price for orange chicken was around $ 1 lower here vs. Golden wok. Edit: I came back for the 2nd time and ordered the same orange chicken lunch special. However, this time around my experience wasn’t as good as it was the first time. The chicken was really hard to eat, the meat/breading was super tough. I asked for steamed rice and the rice came out with a weird flavor. And since I placed the order at the cashier, nobody actually came out to check on me after the fact. Someone came out to drop off the food and that was it. I even had to flag them down to bring me my cup of water. If the food is so inconsistent and the service is nonexistent, I don’t think I’ll be coming back. Three stars for first visit, one star for the follow up. Two overall.

Was very good until recently. They must have changed cooks and personnel. Fried foods are over cooked and hot mustard is weak and runny to the point of liquid. Asked counter guy about the mustard today and he told me it is normal? Chinese mustard should support a toothpick standing not float on top. The personnel will not accept customer feedback and laugh at inquiries. Will no longer recommend this place to anyone.

The staff is rude. First impression was awful– the waiter was short with me and very rude. Not a smile in sight. The room was quiet and nearly empty. The egg drop soup was bland, but hey, at least it was hot, right? I was just visiting Houston. I will never return to this restaurant for sure. Only thing I actually enjoyed was the fact that it was clean. But seriously, customer service didn’t exist here. Not returning. Waste of my money. Waste of my appetite.

This place is awful. I’m not even sure they’re even trying here. There is no way they can be serious and pass off their version of fried rice as what normal people would call fried rice. If so it’s a cruel version they’ve created. C’mon you know this is bad, no excuse to screw up fried freaking rice man. The shrimp was big tho ayyyyyyy. Lets move on to the General Tso chicken. Yea, you’ve had good Gen. Tso before, now forget what you know and be ready to have your taste buds disrespected and assaulted because their offering of it is blasphemy. Its just brown, sweet sauce covering breaded white meat. No zing or zang or spice or anything. I guess at least its white meat??? After living here for over 10 years its always nice to see a new place pop up you can support but nah, will be going back to my usual. Sucks because they have a great menu and better prices but this place fails so bad. Won’t be returning and I just can’t recommend this place to anyone unless I just hate you and feel you deserve it.

It was ok. The food wasn’t the best, but the staff was friendly and they had quite a few good TV’s to watch a game. And there wasn’t anything bad about the food, it just wasn’t overly memorable. Not a bad takeout option :).

Wow how is this place still in business? I have tried to give them a chance… but 3rd strike your out. The vegetable LO Mein had 3 limp broccoli, a few small pieces of mushrooms, 4 very over cooked snow peas, overly oiled bad noodles. And the chicken noodle soup was the worst, hot water with slimy boiled chicken & chili oil.(I asked for spicy) How can a Chinese restaurant mess up a chicken noodle soup? Sad we deserve better in the 018.

This place is awful. The food we got was so overcooked we could barely eat it. The barbecue ribs were so tough, you couldn’t tell where the meat ended and the bone began. Not a fan, definitely won’t order here again.

First of all there is a $ 15 minimum for delivery which isn’t suitable for one person getting delivery. I paid $ 18 for my meal and wish I wouldn’t have tried this place at all. The only reason they get one star and not no stars is because the egg roll was alright(and you can’t give zero stars). The fried dumplings were doughy mush and the sauce was terrible. I was at least able to finish eating one. The lo mein was not edible. The noodles were so over cooked they could have been mashed to make a noodle paste. The chicken tasted like it had gone bad and more terrible sauce all over it. The«fried rice» tasted like egg rice. It was steamed rice that tasted like they had cracked and egg and mixed it with rice and then cooked it. That meal was the nastiest meal I’ve ever had.

I have to update the review. The fried rice is much improved and the coconut shrimp is really good as well. It’s still standard Chinese food but hey that’s what you want when you order from a Chinese food place! They are extremely fast when it comes to delivery. Happy to have them in the neighborhood.

Omgg. very rarely have i been treated this poorly. I work late so I called at 10p after checking the closing time online to see if I could still be served before close(10:30p) — I was assured I could be. I arrived at 10:14p & was so disgusted by a man prepping utensils with his dirty bare hands. the food and mess everywhere and the smell of molded rags that I almost turned around. But. i was desperate. So i told the gentleman behind the counter that I was just eating alone. he said«take out right» & i said no I’m just gonna shovel food now then take the rest home at 1030 so you can close. and i assured him that I’d make it quick. He said .well by the time we make your food… idk. then I asked if it’d be 15min. and by 1030 I’d be out the door, I also asked what time they closed the store. he said again, 1030. and then complained«we’d only have 10min left!». he said«I’ll do take out for you I want to close». i placed the menu down and said thank you, don’t worry I won’t be bothering you anymore. He said no no come do takeout. But i was so put off by his laziness and the FILTHINESS of the restaurant that i turned away. Not coming back.

I figured I would give this place a try as it is near my job. I ordered General Tso chicken. It was pretty myeh! The most oddly prepared General Tso I’d ever had. Pricing was decent, but you literally get what you pay for. Wouldn’t advise anyone to eat there.

The steamed pork dumplings are amazing! I don’t know what they do to the sauce but it is addicting. The food is always very fresh and the delivery is quick and efficient.

I’ve been going to China Wok at least once a month since they opened. Always order kung pop chicken with extra sauce and extra hot. Tonight I register a complaint. Now that they’ve started to do a bit better business wise the they’ve added staff. Order came with no extra sauce and tasting of curry. Sent it back. 15 seconds later it’s back with more sauce(they added standard brown sauce over the top). I did eat. Paid. And then complained. I prefer that so that they don’t think they have to make amends by reducing the price. Not only do they not apologize they say there’s no curry in it. Now anyone can recognize the flavor of curry it’s obvious. Stay away. Things were good but as often the case when business picks up they forget how they earned business in the first place. And as if there aren’t other Chinese restaurants.

I have always been happy with the service and food from this neighborhood, family owned and operated Chinese restaurant. The food is always fresh and made to order and the service is top notch. The owners are always there and are very nice and accommodating. BOTTOMLINE: Great Chinese restaurant in Oak Forest.

Ok so tonight is my last time going here. I order from here maybe once every few months and tonight we couldn’t decide what to eat so here I am. Ordered our usual chicken and broccoli with mushrooms and white rice, egg drop wonton soup and the chicken noodle soup. I got home only to discover that they did not close the top to the chicken and broccoli and the sauce and contents had flung around in the bag. Strike 1. Then they left out the rice. Strike 2 and 3. I’m Chinese — I need my rice. We’ve had some other issues in the past — them not putting everything in the bag or giving us the wrong items but tonight our dinner was ruined :( Should have listened to our inner voices that told us to order pizza.
