For starters, this place is open and the food is always on Q! I always get the general tso and add medium spice to it, I’ve never had better! Try it!

Being in the hospital down the street, quick and easy real food choices are hard to come by. I was tired of the same fast foods/hospital food/cafeteria food available. They’re definitely open, its just tucked in the back corner of a shopping strip adjacent to where it used to be. The décor inside is nice but it smells really REALLY fishy. I ordered the Mummy Roll, the Lunch(comes with a soup and eggroll) Mongolian Beef with Brown Rice, and 3 pieces of salmon sashimi. Everything was about $ 30. I was not impressed with the food at all. Granted, I took it to go back to the hospital so the sushi did warm up some. The Mummy roll has a crunch topping that was stale and made the entire roll unpleasant. The fish in both were fresh but had a STRONG fish odor. There was 4 pieces of garlic and a large ball of what looks to be cheap tube wasabi. The Mongolian green onions and onions(as there was probably 4 pieces of beef) and wonton soup were pretty inedible as they were so salty. I didn’t even bother with the egg roll. The people were polite and nice, and the food was packed nicely and separated with tons of soy sauce packets and plastic ware, hence the two stars. So basically I ate brown rice and smelly fish, I should of stick with hospital food or ate Kroger sushi. Lol.

It was OK. The service was good and delivery fast but the food seemed very bland. It was fresh but had no flavor. We order a Lo Mein, Shrimp Fried rice and Orange Chicken. I think I will stick with the place we usually order from.

Great food, friendly staff, and good prices. Will be coming back to this place again! It’s more intimate and you get a great meal.

Favorite Chinese delivery place in the area! It’s such a good price for the large amount of food you get too.

Placed a pick up order tonight. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The egg rolls we ordered were good. Unfortunately, that is where the positive in this review ends. My husband ordered the chicken and broccoli that tasted like it was boiled without seasoning and put on a plate. I ordered the Mongolian chicken that was greatly lacking flavor and was comprised mostly of more onions than beef. Both dishes left a terrible after taste in our mouths. Hopefully this review is helpful not only to others but to the establishment as well.

I’m new to the area and was excited to see the amount of places that now delivered to me. After looking through some reviews I settled on this place. My food arrived on time and wasn’t that bad but I feel as though it could have been better. Costumer service was ok; all in all I might give this place another chance.

The food is consistently amazing! I always get the General Tso chicken and my husband gets either the Kung Pao or Chicken Curry. All are great. The fried rice could use more veggies and/or egg. We’ve also ordered sushi a few times and it’s really basic. They have specialty rolls as well but we haven’t tried those.

Worst Chinese food I’ve had in a while. The egg drop soup was an orange color and tasted funky. I spit it out and poured the rest down the sink. The kung pao beef dish had poor quality beef and no peanuts, as advertised. It was also swimming in an oily, orange substance. The fried rice was a joke! It was steamed white rice mixed with soy sauce. Finally, the green beans tasted as if they had been cooked in old oil. I hate that. Had hopes for this place but now I know.

I’ve used golden wok for delivery maybe 5 times now. Each time, we always get sweet and sour chicken and orange peel chicken dinner combos. Awesome portions, with an egg roll and soup to boot. Was very happy with both dishes. I’d gotten general Tso chicken in the past, and found it overly sauced/breaded. This time, the orange chicken was perfect. Delivery is always very fast, and comes with everything we needed. Great for a night out or in. I’ll be ordering again, for sure :)

I have to say I was SUPER impressed by the quality of the food for the price. $ 9 General Tso’s that comes with a portion of chicken that is impossible to eat, rice, soup and an egg roll? Yes, please! The food here was so delicious– all white meat and the chicken was so juicy and tender, unlike most bargain Chinese food places. I will definitely be returning, although it is about a 12 minute drive from us, it is worth it. Some have said the hot and sour soup was too ‘hot/spicy’ and I have to say that isn’t the case at all! Hot and sour soup should err on the side of spicy versus sour/sweet… I’ve been to places where the hot and sour soup was lack luster because of how un-hot it was. I LOVED Golden Wok’s take on the soup.

I thought this place would be great based on all of the reviews, but I was really disappointed. I know what to expect when you ask for cheap Chinese food, but my chicken & broccoli was pretty awful. It looked like boiled chicken, and the sauce made my stomach turn. I took 2 bites before I had to call it quits. The fried rice I got was just that — rice.(Every other place I’ve had it at cooks it with vegetables and egg.) Also, the restaurant itself looked dirty and still had Christmas decorations up in February, and it had a very strong chemical odor similar to fresh paint. The only good points I noted were that the staff was very friendly, the portion sizes were huge for lunch, and the egg drop soup and egg roll were adequate. Maybe I need to go back once the smell dissipates and try a different dish, because apparently a lot of people love this place.

Great value for the amount of food you get. I can only speak for the sushi, but what I had was delicious and fresh. Spicy tuna and salmon and some roll with spicy crab. Delicious. I called in a to go order and all was well when I went to pick it up. I’ve read some other reviews on here about the online ordering not working. I have a rule of thumb to not trust online ordering unless it’s a chain or it has been up and running for a few years. If you want food to go, just call them. Definitely coming back for sushi and some of the good Chinese I saw when I went to pick up.

Very frustrated! At 1:30 I placers an online order– I placed my credit card in and confirmed 45 mins. At 2:30 I started getting concerned. I called and said my first and last name and placed an order online. She said did you order from B24? And I confirmed I did. She said the driver was already gone. But could give me no information on how much longer At 2:45 I called again and again asked her to confirm my order She placed me on hold for a few mins then came back and said the delivery has already been delivered. I ensured her it wasn’t and asked for the 3rd time to confirm my first and last name order. At this point she said she didn’t have my order. I really wish she would of checked the first time I ask and would of saved me 30 mins of waiting AND she did not apologize or acknowledge she made a mistake. She said well he had a B24 order This was my first time ordering cause it was only .4 miles but I won’t try again ONlY because of how the lady never apologized

Came here last night for dinner after reading reviews on Unilocal and it being close to home. The food was delicious. I ordered the General Tso’s chicken and it came with rice, an eggroll, and choice of soup. I ordered the hot and sour soup and it was really good. I loved that they had the crispy noodles to put in it. My son ordered the Honey Chicken and he loved it. It didn’t come as a dinner special, so it was a lot of food and he almost ate all of it. It was probably the 2nd best General Tso’s I’ve had. So, it’s weird that it is only getting a 4, I know. There was only myself in there for most of my visit but the lone waiter still didn’t pay us much attention. I drink a lot of water when I eat and there were several 5 – 10 minute spells that I had no water. It was also fairly difficult to flag him down and the establishment isn’t very large at all. It took a while for me to order my to go order, which was more General Tso’s because it was that good. They deliver and you can do pick up. It’s really good Chinese food, especially for the price.

You Deliver. I’m Sold! My friend and I wanted to try this place out since its new and out of the 19 reviews, it had 4 ½ stars which is pretty good! We love sushi and we wanted to try out their Chinese as well. Since we can start to get tired towards the end of the work week, we opted for delivery. For $ 1 extra, delivery is completely worth it! We ordered the Brooklyn roll and it was delicioussss. They didn’t skimp on the avocado or fish either. For delivery and«Chinese restaurant» quality, its not bad! We also ordered the General TSO’s chicken. Plenty of chicken meat and it came with fried rice, an egg roll, and a cup of hot & sour soup. I can’t wait to place another delivery order and try their lunch specials. It’s such good prices especially their lunch menu and good quality food.

Decent. But not the place to come if you are truly craving sushi. Appetizer came out with food, and all the different fish options inside the sushi look the same. Why does crab meat look like salmon? Anyways… it’s not HORRIBlE… but?will be if you’re truly craving Japanese food… also lo mein tastes a bit funny. Probably won’t come back!

Probably the most cost effective Chinese food I have ever had. Wonton Soup, Eggroll, Fried Rice and General Tsao Chicken all for $ 11 Is it the best Chinese food I have ever had? Probably not. Is it the best Chinese food I have had for that price? Yes. Just give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!

Ordered in for delivery. I got the orange chicken and the lady friend got the sesame chicken. Both were excellent. The folks over at the Golden Wok really know how to make an orange chicken. The quality of the meat is right on. I haven’t experienced better meat at any other wok. The fried rice left a little to be desired. It was pretty much just brown rice. It could use a bit more thought. Overall, I would say you have to try it. You definitely won’t be sorry you did.

This place is decent at best… it seems like they heat their meals up with the microwave… the food comes out blistering hot or almost cold… the fried food is soft and not crunchy… service is sometimes really good and then really bad… it’s nice to have a sushi option in the neighborhood but it’s very limited and the quality is hit or miss. Do yourself a favor and find a better place. I’m done with this place…

Stopped by here for the first time last night and really enjoyed it. The staff was friendly, ambiance was inviting, and the food was great. The dinner special came with fried rice, soup, and an egg roll. I got the pepper steak and it was delicious! And probably one of the best egg rolls I’ve had. I will definitely be back.

This was really like a 4.7 but Unilocal rounds up … So the Golden Wok is located in a shopping strip of 34th and Ella and very easy to miss. But it is definitely a hidden gem. I got here a little after the lunch special so the place wasn’t crowed, just a few patrons here and there. I was slightly greeted to sit but when i told them I would be doing take out I was slightly rushed.(that bothers me). Anywho I look over the menu and decided on the general tso chicken. The man couldn’t find it in the system so I had to wait for the lady to get off the phone to do my order. She rude and rolled her eyes a bit to much for my liking but whatevs. My food came out in no more than 10 minutes. Now after reading all the reviews for this place I was expecting nothing but PUREGREATNESS. I was expecting to have a outer body experience… and honey child I did! From the first hot delicious bite I think my taste buds quivered. It was the perfect proportion of rice to meat and more than I could finish. It wasn’t dry, plenty of sauce! BEST General Tso I have EVER had in LIFE! I can’t wait to return to try the orange chicken. The service wasn’t the greatest but the food was so damn lip smacking good that I can totally over look that.

I’m going to get on the bandwagon here with 5-stars, but I’ll qualify that it’s an «excellent for what it is» rating. It’s a small, inexpensive, Americanized-Chinese café, tucked on the side of a strip mall, with delivery… but it does that really well! This is our go-to delivery place, but we’ve also eaten in the restaurant. The food is fresh, tasty, the spice-level is always appropriate for how you order it, large amounts of food, chicken is always nice white-meat, and they get special requests correct(I always order everything«no onion»). I don’t know if the sushi is a new addition, but we ordered a couple rolls the other day and they were good, too. They recently moved location and were closed for a few months… during that time we tried 4 – 5 other places in the area that would deliver to us and none of them compared… something was always off and left us disappointed. We’re so happy to see them open again(and that their quality level has stayed the same or possibly increased) and we’re not dreading trying a new place when we’re wanting this type of food!

Awesome new Chinese food spot in Oak Forest. Had the orange chicken lunch special. Meal was very flavorful and the chicken was moist. For 8 $ I’m completely stuffed. Check out this local business!

Beware if you use their online ordering system. I have been going to Golden Wok for years and have always liked their food. In the past, I have called my order in. Tonight I used their website. When I went to pick it up, they had no record of my order and were not very helpful. Really disappointed.

YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!!! I can’t tell you how miserable I was when the old location closed down because it was moving. I had gone to other Chinese restaurants in the area, but they’re just not the same. China Wok on 43rd was just bleh. Eastern Chinese restaurant, although pretty good, doesn’t offer orange chicken as one of the lunch specials. So when this place opened up again, I was stoked! The interior is much smaller compared to the old location, but it looks so much nicer. The old location was just plain ghetto and sketchy. This new location looks pretty decent. I’m not sure if the owners are still the same, but all I can say that the orange chicken is still legit. And even better, they now offer the option for you to substitute the rice with brown rice for an additional $ 1. Now I can have my orange chicken and still be healthy(Ha!!) Anyway, this place is definitely back on my lunch rotation. Check it out!

Façade revamped and we finally decided to try this place. Its great. General Tso’s chicken was delicious and the meat(all white I think) was juicy right. not dry. I’ve had too many chicken dishes in other Chinese places nearby(like one popular one in the Heights) that the white meat is a tad too dry. They hot and sour soup could use more sour, but overall I am pleased we have a very good Chinese place in Garden Oaks/Oak forest.

We have loved this place for years now, we were sad it took them a couple months to reopen, their new location is nice and modern! Decent sushi but I prefer the Chinese. I have ordered delivery and they are awesome. And their new waitress is so attentive. We are happy to have you back Golden Wok.

First time ordering from here and we were very impressed. Placed order for delivery at 8:55pm and it arrived to us before 9:20pm. Everything was packed neatly and in quality containers, no flimsy stuff. Had eggrolls, 2 different sushi rolls, eggdrop and hot and sour soup, as well as general tso’s chicken and sesame chicken. Everything tasted great! Will definitely order again

I just left after a great sushi lunch here! The staff was very friendly and the service was fast. I ordered the Rainbow Roll with cream cheese and avocado added, it was delicious! It’s about time someone started serving sushi on this side of 610! The restaurant was very clean and well kept. I will be back again and will probably be ordering takeout very soon as well!
