Excellent place to go eat or just relax while you are trying to fill your agenda for the evening. Shrimp and fish tacos was just the beginning and the taste was superb …

Great bar & restaurant. If they’re busy, the wait can be long for food and drinks. Food is always great! Awesome atmosphere. Very good wine and beer list. The wings are AMAZING and so are the shrimp appetizers! Rotisserie Press sandwich is awesome!

We were there for an associates birthday party. There was about 20 of us that made it for brunch. Was excited as this was my first experience. Just not really understanding exactly what happen. I ordered the chicken and waffles as I like to compare from one establishment to the other. It took awhile for the food to come out and my waffles were cold on arrival. I waited for several minutes as there was no butter on the table at ALL. Finally, I asked the Hostess for SOFTBUTTER. She immediately replied that they did not have SOFTBUTTER. HUH? In shock, I stayed silent while the other attendees informed her that all she had to do was go into the kitchen and soften the butter. She did however, I was confused why she did not know how to soften butter. Many participants waited for the entire meal for their food only not to get it and as we were leaving opting for a doggie bag. To Davis’ credit, they did remove those meals off the bill — but the point was to eat and celebrate. Perhaps it was just a bad day. Not intending to frequent anytime soon.

I absolutely love this place! The décor is beautiful. The people are friendly and the food is top notch! Just experienced brunch for the first time at Davis street and the shrimp and grits was simply perfect. The staff even gave us samples of other things on the menu which was an added bonus because now we know what we want next time. I love the reservation option so when in doubt always make a reservation.

Upscale Modern Southern Comfort Soul Food… This place has a lot to offer with a very clean and modern layout that is suited for a group of any size… The menu has a great variety… I had house soup which was a collard green ham hoc soup that was packed with flavor… I also ordered the open faced soft-shell crab sandwich which a huge blt with avocado and a great sized soft-shell crab on top of a fluffy and buttery Texas toast… My partner had the salmon which was a perfect medium served on a bed of root veggies and broccolini… They also provided a great crunchy and chewy bread with honey butter and olive oil for the table… The service was very attentive… My only complaint would be that the drink prices were pretty high during happy hour… We were here at 6:30 during typical happy time and a Martini was 18 dollars and a house Chardonnay was 13 dollars… It seems like they could bring the drink prices down a notch and offer some happy hour or small bites menu to generate more business…

First off let me say the food is awesome, now that that’s out of the way I give it 3 stars. The valet service is questionable, in fact the way they drive the cars is shocking. I would rather park my car across the street than to hand over my keys. Their driving is horrendous. Another thing is the smell outside, it reeks of garbage. We went twice and the first time we couldn’t sit outside because the breeze was making the smell worse. The second time it wasn’t bad(we were sitting inside the second time).

Really enjoyed the food and ambiance at this place! Stopped by here for a Sunday brunch with friends after church and truly enjoyed the entire experience. Although it was rainy, the place was still pretty full. Thankfully, we were able to beat the crowd and were seated when we got there. I can only imagine how packed this place gets on a nice sunny day! We had the chicken and waffles, shrimp/grits, & crab crake benedict which were all pretty tasty. And their pineapple craft mimosas(not bottom-less) were yummy as well. Will definitely be back to this spot soon!

Worst bar service in Houston! Food was warm and just okay. The manager Larry did try to make it up and was very professional. I may not come back to this spot…

I’m not sure why this place have 3 ½ stars? It should have a solid 4. I tried this restaurant today for their Sunday brunch. The ambience is a mixture of classy and chic, great place to hold a brunch gathering. I was seated at the bar since I was alone. It seems like this place becomes full very quickly so if it’s a party more than 2 I would suggest making reservations. The bartender greeted me with a smile and was very professional, along with the rest of the staff. For their food, I ordered the pound cake French toast with hash browns. The French toast usually come with bacon or sausage but I do not eat red meat or pork so I ordered hash browns as a substitute. It was DELICIOUS(French toast) hash browns were average. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because, the menu does not offer different substitutes for those who do not eat pork.

I went to Davis St for brunch with my family for my birthday. We got there at 11:00 and were seated and greeted promptly. Our waiter Brian was very nice & professional. I ordered the Frittata & was a tad disappointed when he came back & told me they didn’t have the ingredients to make it because the delivery truck didn’t show up that morning. I ordered the Monte & it was ok… nothing spectacular about it & it lacked flavor. I wouldn’t order it again or recommend it. Everyone else loved their food… shrimp & grits, chicken & waffles, french toast & bananas foster pancakes. Towards the end of the meal Brian overheard someone say it was my birthday & not only did he get me a complimentary shot… he also took care of the bill for my food! The atmosphere was good for Sunday, not too quiet but not insanely busy & loud. It was perfect for the occasion.

We are a group of 16+ and this place has been overwhelmingly accommodating towards us. This has been amazing! The service has felt special, so thanks to the entire team, especially Emmanuel and Ronnie for helping us out even though we didn’t have a reservation. The spring rolls were excellent, and so were the curry wings, but the chicken flatbread could use more spice. I had to add my own concoction of hot sauce/Caesar dressing to improve it. In any case, I will be back. Thanks for letting us have the back room and allowing us to be free to be ourselves without feeling cramped or forced to be quiet. :)

Solid, 4-star brunch at Davis Street. My favorite part of the meal was eating the biscuits, which they brought out to everyone as a complimentary appetizer with butter and fig jam/preserves. The biscuits were flaky and still very butter-y. I tried the french toast, which is basically just fried pound cake – it was decadent and delicious, but I think I might try something else next time. My friend tried the soft-shell crab dish and really liked it, and the truffle fries that came with it were great. I wasn’t a huge fan of the mimosa, as I felt it should be a little more heavy on the champagne. The restaurant is very pretty, sleek and modern, and service was good. I can see how parking might be tricky, but they have a valet(and we were lucky enough to get a free street parking spot). Great brunch.

Shrimp and grits! I love the ambience of this place. The staff is friendly. Parking can be a challenge. I parked across the street. Crossing the street is interesting because it can be busy. The staff was friendly. I hope the quality of food and service doesn’t change as they continue to gain notoriety.

I swung by for happy hour on a Saturday. I’ve been meaning to try this place after learning about its win at the rodeo’s Best Bites competition. Happy hour is from 4pm — 7pm every day and features a handful of appetizers from the main menu. Cochon flatbread: Pretty good. This is basically just a rectangular personal-sized pizza, but the portion size is pretty generous. Matchstick pepperoni, ham, and bacon were flavorful on top of some okay mozzerella/tomato sauce/bread. Davis Street sliders: Good. The meat was juicy, and the Brioche buns were buttery with a hint of crispiness. The pickles tasted like they were made in-house and were much less sour than out-of-the-jar pickles. Buffalo chicken spring rolls: Okay. The buffalo flavor was present but surprisingly subtle. These are actually more of eggrolls than spring rolls, and I have never met an eggroll that I have truly enjoyed. The jalapeño cilantro cream was also not as flavorful as I had hoped. Garlic parmesan truffle fries: Pretty good. This is a main menu item. Neither the garlic nor the truffle flavors were very present, and the flavoring was unevenly distributed, but overall these were still tasty. The fries had a slightly rough exterior(à la curly fries) that I particularly enjoyed. The accompanying dip seemed to be a Thousand Island-mayo combo. The service here is top-notch: extremely attentive and friendly in a very professional but not snooty way. The décor is slick but unabashedly bold.

The service is 5 star, the food is 3.5, so it somehow average to about a 4 star. Happy hour is 4 – 7 everyday. The vibe at this place is awesome. I love the windows it makes this place so chic. The staff is awesome incredible and constantly checks up on you even if you are just there for happy hour. They are attentive without being annoying. Here are some of the things I tried on happy hour: Sliders(3.5÷5) — Not too bad. They are beef patties on buttered rolls with some caramelized onion and duck bacon(which I still don’t know what that means it just tasted like normal bacon). It comes in three’s and don’t look very big but are very filling. In terms of how good it is, it’s more on the average side. Nothing crazy. Buffalo chicken spring rolls(3⁄5) — I did not like it that much. I thought the buffalo chicken flavor did not go well with the mozzarella. It was too sour and salty in a weird way. Would not recommend it. Flat bread with pepperoni(3.5÷5) — Tasted like a standard pizza in the shape of a triangle. Nothing crazy but decent. Garlic parmesan truffle fries(3.5÷5) — Had such high hopes but did not live up to the name. I barely tasted any garlic, parmesan, or truffle. The fries were not bad by themselves. I loved the slightly spicy thousand island-like dip, which brought the fries from a 3 to 3.5. Otherwise I would not try this again. Throughout the dinner, the staff was very attentive and did not discriminate like other fancy restaurants based on what you ordered. Had a wonderful experience and would come here to try the dinner food. Hopeful that it is better than happy hour!

The day I dropped by here it was soooo pretty outside I just had to sit on their patio and check it out. So glad I did! I was greeted warmly as I entered and the décor of the whole place put me in total chill vibe. Love the way the bar is mid room and is a great size. Plenty of seating for happy hour. The restaurant in total has a very open, stylish yet mellow feel to it. Kudos to whomever is responsible for the décor. The menu has a little something for everyone. Noticed the HH section and made note to self: must try! I ordered a pear based cocktail(forget the name) and the duck tacos. Both were winners in my book. Enjoyed the blue corn tortillas & chipotle sauce of the tacos. Duck meat was flavorful & tender. My cocktail was nice & refreshing; mixed very well. Service was great from beginning to end. I definitely be back to try more out their menu & to chill out on their patio.

Celebrated a friend’s birthday last night and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The birthday boy pulled together a 40-person party in less than 24-hours and the restaurant accommodated very well. We sat on the far left of the restaurant which appeared to be an informal banquet room. There was a privacy curtain, but it remained open for the entire evening. We were given complimentary appetizers courtesy of the owner(Thai shrimp, crab cake balls and jerk chicken skewers — all delicious). The Thai shrimp actually won best appetizer in the city and they definitely lived up to the hype. I intended on ordering them for my entrée, but since I was able to taste them, I opted for the buffalo spring rolls. They were okay, but definitely not as good as the shrimp. I ordered a side of truffle fries and they were up to par. The service was very professional and as timely as possible for a party of that size. Our table actually received our food about 20 minutes before the rest of the party, so I’m sure that’s why I wasn’t as bothered by the long wait. After dinner, the owner brought out champagne to give a toast in honor of the birthday celebration. When the bills were distributed, I don’t recall there being any discrepancies(which is always a plus when dealing with large groups). The only downside to this establishment is the drinks. The bar tenders weren’t very generous. For the price, I’d expect a stiffer drink. However, I intend on bringing friends and family back to try more items on the menu.

I came here for happy hour with my coworkers last week. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but when I realized that it’s connected to the Mosaic High Rise, I figured it would be upscale. The décor is so beautiful. The moment you walk in, you are greeted by a hostess. The staff is very friendly. On this particular day, the place was not crowded at all. Our server was very nice and attentive. The service was one of the high points of my dining experience. For the happy hour specials, drinks run about $ 5 and appetizers $ 5-$ 10. I ordered a drink called The 1914. It’s not on the happy hour menu, but it is one of their signature drinks and it was really good. The beers on the happy hour menu were 20 oz so it seems like a decent deal. For appetizers, we ordered the truffle fries and the margherita pizza. The pizza was good. It tastes like any other margherita pizza you can find anywhere. The truffle fries were good. It had just the right amount of truffle oil. It also came with some sort of mustard dipping sauce. It had a slight spice to it and it was really good. There’s a nice patio area out front. On the day we went, it was cool outside, so no one was sitting out there. They do have heaters though. There’s also valet. We parked across the street at the golf parking lot. We did not get towed or ticketed, but I have a feeling that if Davis Street gets popular, they may start enforcing the parking restrictions in that lot. The downside to that lot is that there is not a cross walk to get across Almeda. I’m not sure how much the Valet is. I would like to come back for dinner to try one of the entrees. I’m glad that I was able to come here before the word gets out about this place.

So I decided to try this place after driving by a few times. First I must say the view from the street is beautiful. The fire places/displays compliment the outdoor scenery. The design inside is well thought out and an overall beauty. When I arrived I was greeted at the door. My first stop was the restroom. I liked the design. It’s unisex by the way Women on one side Men on the other. Sensors on the toilets finally someone who understands people don’t want to touch any part of a toilet many people have used. sinks were activated by a motion sensor. The area in the hall and I believe restroom lights were activated by movement. Energy efficient. John was my waiter he was polite and made some good recommendations. I ended up having a glass of moscato, crispy Thai shrimp and crab cakes. The shrimp was flavorful very decent size and fresh. The crab cakes were pretty flavorful as well and the crabmeat and the ingredients were freshly made. The manager Larry was very welcoming. Gave me a tour and also introduced me to the head Chef Javani. I had a great experience and I will be returning and sharing Davis St with others.
