I’ve been traveling for about 6 weeks now and it was wonderful to have something like I would cook at home. The staff let me order off menu and gave me a healthy and glorious plate of chicken and veggies. It was perfectly cooked and the servers were so accommodating!!! They even whipped up some scrambled egg whites for me in the morning even though it was not offered in the buffet selections.

So what do you do when your just too tired to venture out for dinner when staying at a Marriott? You eat at the Bar of course! Typical bar food available naturally. But this caught my eye tonight. Boom Boom Shrimp And a little red wine(i know, i know, white with seafood. But I like Red so deal with it :)) Lets start with my favorite topic: Sevice: I ordered at the bar and sat in the common area. The Bar staff was great and brought it to me. 5* in my book. Not saying the rest of the time I sat there they paid much attention unless I got up and bellied up to the bar for a request. 2* Atomshpere: Really… this is a standard Marriott bar area. Nice, clean slightly up to date and slightly not. Still WAY better than the Old bar area they had. 3.5* Food: Aaahhh now we get to brass tacks here. the fore mentioned Boom Boom Shrimp. Damn Good ! Lightly battered, Crispy, Cooked Perfectly, and a wonderful dipping sauce — Sweet & Spicy Chili Sauce. 5* all the way. A very ample portion as well. Oh Yes, the Wine selection is fine for a hotel bar. Bottles ranged from $ 16-$ 90 with most around $ 35. My glass is empty so I sign off as I head to the bar for a refill :) Cheers

Ok people here’s the scoop. I travel for a living and being a Marriott exclusively guy with 940,000 points in three years I truly enjoy the company as they do a great job… except tonight at this location. I sat down to a restaurant that was about 20% full. After eventually getting the bartenders attention I ordered some spinach dip. 45 minutes later I finally received it. A hot soupy mess, do not order. Bartenders were not professional as they enjoyed each other more than their customers even as it got busier. Although this is nowhere near enough for me to change chains for good this hotel will not receive my business nor will I recommend it to my coworkers who travel here frequently.

Very much the typical in-hotel bar and restaurant with a hotel run Starbucks attached. In this Marriott, there are not any other choices for food, and the same food you get at Den is also the same food you get(minus Starbucks) for room service. The food is good with more variety than some other recent hotel experiences, and the staff is helpful and friendly. They have a free pool table(which is awesome), and in the mornings, there is a breakfast buffet that also comes with made-to-order omelets. If you can afford the jacked up hotel pricing, then you won’t be disappointed. I have stayed in this hotel over long periods of time, and because of that, I have eaten here several times when I was too tired or too busy to get to another place in the area. The place posts signs and even placards in the rooms about their big city burgers. I have had the burger, and it’s not really one that stands out for me. What I really do like are the omelets for dinner. An omelet made to order with a side of fries and some of the standard Marriott salsa, and I’m set. Follow that up with a glass of Scotch and a game of pool, and the evening is made. My only real complaint is around the pricing. Hotel food is typically marked up past to value/price point that makes it worth it, unless there are several restaurants in the hotel. Then you typically have some choice, and usually more reasonable pricing. In this case, not only is this the only restaurant in the hotel, but there are not a lot of closely located alternatives in the area. I can’t say the prices are out of line to other hotels, but I continue to maintain that the prices are just too high at all of them. So, if you can get past the prices, then you’ll be fine. :-)

Meh… it’s a Marriott, with ridiculous prices and a limited selection of food. Airport prices at the bar and in the restaurant. Wouldn’t recommend unless you’re using the corporate Amex, which is what they are counting on.

Stick with a hamburger if you need to eat here. How. Can they screw that up. Got here late and had a salad and pan seared salmon. Salad had tomatoes cut in quarters… really? Salmon was so dead I didn’t even eat it. Was so hot it came out like it was microwaved. Terrible food. I give them credit for taking it off the bill but I really wanted the food as I was hungry.

DEN: Dine, Eat, Network at Marriott North Houston. For a restaurant in a hotel, I enjoy their meals and the friendly, engaging staff who remember and greet frequent guests. I especially like their meatloaf with mashed potatoes and a brown sauce. This evening, I am trying another favorite here: grilled fish and shrimp tacos.

The turkey burger is deliciously grilled. With guacamole, onions, tomato and lettuce on a grain bun.

The food is decent but waaaaaaay overpriced…$ 15 for an average hamburger!!! The staff are also not helpful or rude.

This restaurants food is excellent, from the meatloaf to the triple mousse. I ate there every night for a week. I’m, going through withdrawal.
