I’m always up for a new place to try some chicken and waffles… even if it’s in the hood… which isn’t always a good thing. So it’s over by Greenspoint, in the same strip as Burlington Coat Factory… we came here on Labor Day. We were a little weary when we came there around 1:45 and saw the people inside had the doors locked… opened it up for us, and then locked it again. I was thinking, crap, should we be scared? Are they on a lookout for some crazy folks?!! But later on we realized that they were trying to close at 2 that day. But still… eek. We took a seat at the booth. Our waitress was young and bubbly. I ordered the 4 Wings and Waffles while my husband ordered the Waffle Cristo. The wings were huge! Nice and hot… flavor was decent… a little salty but tastes good after dipping it in the syrup. A little too much white meat for my liking… I’m more of a dark meat kinda gal. The waffle was just ok. The waffle cristo looked like a big plate of heart attack! It was hard to tell it was a waffle sandwich because it was battered up pretty well. Husband thought it was alright. I don’t eat that so I wouldn’t know what to rate it. Enjoyed the music and hospitality. Still doesn’t beat BK… and it’s not the safest place so the hubby says… no more. :)

I’ve been wanting to visit this place for awhile… Finally got the chance a few weeks ago. Don’t like the area too much but still wanted to give it a try. First glance, bars on the glass front so that was little strange but nonetheless like i said the area isn’t that great. Walk inside was greeted very nicely and asked if we had a table preference by hostess. Since there was 2 of us plus a kid we decided on a booth. The first thing I noticed was the records on the walls… I love the records and they also had a live concert playing on TV/Surround sound of Santana which is awesome music and makes for a great atmosphere. Shortly after being seated our waitress came over and greeted us, took our drink order and asked if we needed help with the menus. I follow their FB page so I immediately asked what’s the waffle of the day? It was pound cake… Yes Yes Yes. :-) We both ordered the wings and waffles… probably waited 10 – 15 minutes for food and enjoyed the music. The Waffles were amazing… I’m serious A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! The wings were pretty good as well… though I wished mine were hot as if they had just came out the grease… they were just kind of warm but still good. Service was great, we were glad we walked in when we did they seemed to get pack soon after we arrived. Nice place overall and I plan to return. My only complaint would be I noticed a day later while checking my bank account… they charged me twice. Once for the meal total and then my total with the tip I added by CC. I took care of it with my bank and also contacted the restaurant. Everything was settled very quickly. I’m ready for them to re-open the other location which is closer to me.

A small, cozy spot in the Greenspoint area for lunch. Booths line the left wall, tables in the middle, and along the right. A horseshoe shaped counter in the back. Flat screens line the wall, and are playing old Luther Vandross concert DVD’s…OK. Old vinyl records lining the wall as well Anything from Lionel Richie, Johnny Cash, to Count Basie. Interesting décor to say the least. The first time I walked in there was a huge line. So I came back another day, a bit before the lunch crowd. This time I was seated right away, and they do have table service. Unlike most of the other places in the area. While the floor service is very friendly, and willing to help anyway they can. The kitchen times are way to long. Nothing comes out in any reasonable time. Nobody was getting their order. Even at half capacity, it took close to 40 minutes to get food. Plan accordingly if you are duing business lunches. Fried chicken wings and other«soul food» things. Whole wings at that. I went with 4 wings, and two sides. Mac n Cheese, and Red Beans and Rice. The wings are decent, though not exceptional. Sides are blah. The mac was watery, red beans did not come with any sausage like the menu said, and not all that exciting. Then there was a side of corn bread. This was the most flavorless corn bread I have ever had. If you can deal with the wait, it is not a bad spot. Just nothing all that great. A bit of a local hole in the wall bump from me in this crappy chain restaurant neighborhood.

For most restaurants, I can choose the star rating before I start writing and base my review off of the number of stars I’ve given. However, with Resie’s, it is difficult to gauge because their food is so hit and miss. Their chicken is actually very good. It’s not the best fried chicken I’ve had but the chicken’s juicy enough with a not-too-heavy breading that makes for a pleasant meal. However, their fried pickles are not like any I’ve had elsewhere. Instead of using pickle chips like most places, they use pickle spears. The breading to pickle ratio is too not high enough which is why I believe most places use the chips. It never coalesces into one food but instead stays as breading and pickle. However, their rice dishes give their rating a push in the positive direction. The rice has been cooked perfectly where it’s not too soft but poofy enough to absorb the sauces. I tried the rice with gravy and the red beans and rice and both were definitely above average. However, a lot of their other sides were awful. The onion rings(onion slides out way too easily and there’s too much breading), chicken quesadilla(flour tortillas should be banned everywhere), and mac and cheese(I admit this is a preference thing as I don’t really like most mac and cheeses) were all bland or poorly made. I guess since I have been there multiple times, it won’t be relegated to 2 stars. But I think it has just enough things they need to improve to keep it from 4 stars. C’mon Resie, change my mind.

Let me state up front: I am not an aficionado of chicken and waffles. It’s not something I grew up with nor do I still have a clue why the two really go together. That said, the service here was good-natured and welcoming, and the joint clearly has a good lunch-time following. I had the 2 jumbo wings and waffle-of-the-day(apple pie). I liked the thin, crispy batter on the wings, I was expecting something heavier. The waffle itself(like others have said) isn’t necessarily special, but I think the way to go is with the daily special, since this added a very nice layer of cooked apples and syrup. So, I enjoyed all the components but the combination of flavors still doesn’t seem that complimentary to me. Perhaps I need a southern comfort food spirit-guide to help me understand. If you stick to the basics you can eat at a reasonable price. Some of the larger combos get expensive, but they also look like a LOT of food, so still reasonable assuming you can actually eat that much. Perhaps a dinner location for the larger plates. A good add to the sometimes disappointing Greenspoint eating scene. I hope they continue to do well.

Not exactly what I know to be «chicken and waffles» but I am no expert. The chicken is actually chicken wings, not buffalo wings but actual chicken wings. Not exactly my cup of tea. I ordered the chicken strips and a waffle and made my own version of chicken and waffles. The chicken strips were easily the best I have ever had though. Well seasoned, hot and in large quantities. The waffle was just your average everyday waffle. Nothing special. There is a waffle of the day and yesterday it was apple pie waffle. I passed on this. Smelled and sounded good though. Maybe next time. The atmosphere and service were top notch. It is set up like an old style diner. There were old records on the walls and soul train playing on the TV’s. It was very cool. As long as you know what you are in store for, I would give this place a high rating and I would definitely recommend it. It is in the Greenspoint(AKA Gunspoint) area but dont let that scare you off.

I was searching on Unilocal for a place near Spring because I was craving for wings and waffles. I did not feel like driving to my favorite spot«The Breakfast Klub«. When my cousin and nephew first arrived, we stood waiting to be seated, after a couple of minutes of not being noticed, we seated ourselves in a booth and a young lady came over. We ordered the peach tea I believe, and the Bo-Diddleys special. My sides arrived 5 minutes before my entrée. The presentation, well lack thereof was not impressionable at all. My serving of greens was not a full portion, it was more juice then greens. The macaroni was all mushy, and bland. Definitely not what you would call soul food. Then comes my smothered chicken. The presentation was nice, but the color of the gravy was very pale, near white. The gravy lacked seasoning and tasted merely as flour and water. It was very disgusting to say the least. Even my four year old nephew refused to eat it. I summoned the waitress over, and asked her was there anyway she could swap out the smothered chicken for just the plain fired chicken. She said no, and I then requested to see a manager. The manager did swap out chicken per my request with no hesitation. The wings were okay, but nothing to go back for. I really wanted this place to be an alternative to the Breakfast Klub, but I rather wait in line 30 mins then be seated under 5 mins for food that doesnt met my expectations. CONCLUSION: 1. On the other hand, I will say the DECOR is unique and very nice. 2. I wasted $ 30, upset-ed my taste bugs, loss my appetite for anything else that afternoon. 3. The pictures on this site is very persuasive, but don’t count on it. 4.Just my two-sense, I wont be back even if it was on the house.

Came here for the first time after hearing about their Chicken and Waffles. When you first pull up, we were kind of weary because it was in a little shopping center and just had a small sign which you will miss if you don’t search for it close enough. When we walked in, I was pleasantly surprised because it wasn’t bad at all. They played soul music and had a homey feel to it. I ordered the All American Breakfast and also a side of 2 chicken wings, and my boyfriend ordered Chicken and Waffles and a side of scrambled eggs. The food came out in about 20 minutes, and it was delicious!!! I find it better than the Breakfast Klub. The chicken was so crispy, and my All American Breakfast was delicious. My boyfriend also loved his food and we both finished everything. The service was also excellent. Our server was extremely nice, and made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely be coming back to this place, rather than wait an hour outside for the Breakfast Klub!

Been on the search for a chicken and waffles place and came upon Resie’s. This place is better than Breakfast Klub AND you don’t even have to wait in line for over an hour! *gasp* The chicken is seasoned very well, full of flavor and juicy, not dry. The waffle is just a waffle and they even offered me the waffle of the day which happened to be a sweet potato waffle the day I went. The main point is the chicken! Pierre was our server and did an excellent job. Checked up on us and was super kind and attentive. The décor is pretty neat. Old vinyls and vinyl covers of Elvis, Billie Holiday, and Aretha Franklin. Even a neat painting of Jimmy Hendrix on the wall. Great place!

Best Chicken and Waffles in Houston! Way better than the other place in downtown Houston. Wings are large and seasoned well, waffles light, fluffy and tasty. My hubby had a plate with the sides(Mac and cheese, sweet potato fries, hot water cornbread) they were just okay. We went on a Thursday evening around 6−7pm, no crowd at all. Go for the wings and waffles, delish!

First time here, and so glad I came. The service was fantastic even during the lunch rush. Wings are huge and perfectly seasoned and fried oh so crispy. Waffles are Belgian style, thick and crispy outside, soft and fluffy inside. Had the baked Mac n cheese, which was gooey comfort food at its best. Place is super clean, music themed which reminded me a bit of New Orleans… Stevie Wonder on the flat screen. How cool is that?! Overall impressed. Can’t wait to return and try some of the other menu items!

A diamond in the ruff! I eat at the subway a few doors down for lunch all the time and have always wanted to try this spot… Don’t let the bars discourage you from going in. I went to Resie’s with a few co-workers…the food was excellent! I absolutely love the fried chicken and waffles!!! The service was great and very friendly. I plan on coming back for more! GREATSPOT!!!

I had the opportunity to dine at Resie’s since I live in Spring. I have for years visited The Breakfast Club which I still like however Resie’s wings are seasoned better. The Thing I HATE about Resie’s is the beverages are Too Dam Expensive. A cup of Hot Chocolate $ 4.00! That price pissed me off because you only add water & stir so why pay so much. The owners at Breakfast Klub are friendly, The owners of Resie’s is unknown! Maybe not a people person. Hopefully this place can survive but dammit lower your beverage prices because you’re not making them from scratch. Bruce

Well the 290 location had us hooked«on the spot»!! the first opportunity(the grand opening) we received to visit the greens Rd location we took it. I really enjoyed. My wife thought the wings were a little salty… I love the customer service here. The only thing I would personally suggests are specialty lemonades and/or punch…

Capitalizing on the trend of Odd Couple* of Chicken and Waffles, Resie launched another location, and by the looks of it, perhaps make try to franchise it if it works. The first location was near Northwest Mall, and this one is near Greenspoint Mall. The signs are that this place has its act together: — Décor is remodeled, looks sharp and has a personality(music theme, and TV with recorded live performances, which are too loud for me; small TVs have ESPN). — Menu is not too ambitious — Website is modern and useful — Service is fast and genuinely cheerful — Kitchen was fast — Food is well-executed — Free Wi-Fi My order: Chicken Wings(4) and Waffles(1 round, quartered): — Wings are much bigger than typical … I added Louisiana hot sauce — Waffle was soft, and needed a bit of crispy on outside; taste was OK, but not my favorite, and somewhat reminiscent of Howard Johnson’s free breakfast make-your own Besides the loud music(which they probably would turn down if requested), the only complaint I have is the price: $ 16 for chicken and waffles and iced tea, including tip. Side items aren’t cheap either, in case you want some veggies. Do you really need to have waiters serve fried chicken? This location is not great, since the place is far offset from the street, and not easily seen as it is partially obscured by Chase and Burger King. —– * «Odd Couple» was a movie, and here are some relevant quotes: Roy: [sniffs] «What’s the smell? Disinfectant?» [smells his cards] Roy: «It’s the cards. He washed the cards.» (Note: Resie makes sure the place is clean, including the menus) Oscar Madison: «Listen buddy, if you’re going to argue with me, put down that spoon.» Felix Ungar: «Spoon? Haha, you dumb ignoramus, that is a ladle! You did not know that’s a ladle! „ (Note: It just looks like chicken wings. You could just put 4 wings on the plate, but they are artistically arranged.) Oscar Madison: „Don’t you have any gravy?“ Felix Ungar:“ Where the hell am I gonna get gravy at eight o’clock?» Oscar Madison: «I dunno, I though it comes when you cook the meat.» Felix Ungar: [under his breath] «Comes when you cook the meat.» [stares at him for a moment] Felix Ungar: «You don’t know what you’re talking about, Oscar. You just don’t know, because you have to MAKE gravy, it doesn’t come!» Oscar Madison: «Well, you asked my advice… « (Note: The waffles come dry with powdered sugar and a vial of maple syrup and a vial of hard butter … that should be liquid, not solid … because the waffles are not hot enough to melt the butter) Felix Ungar: «I’ll be in the way.» Gwendolyn Pigeon: «How could you possibly be in anyone’s way?» Oscar Madison: «You want to see a typewritten list? « (Note: To me it seems there are too many waiters for such a small place. I wonder if that contributes to the high prices.)
