Great food. Good service. Clean. Quick preparations. Friendly staff. Legit! I have tried different roasted chicken restaurant and this one by far exceeded my expectations. I would recommend this spot to my friends. I was so full and I wanted to try more. But that means I just have to go back to try it again.

After noticing fellow Unilocaler Belly G. checking in here and reading his review I bookmarked it for when I was in the area. The restaurant was easy to find on Rchmond in a shopping center. A Mexican restaurant is two doors down and I noticed that they had reserved many of the parking spaces near their restaurant with orange parking cones. This kept me from parking close to Dodo’s and I had to park in another area of the lot. Walking in I noticed two sections to the restaurant. The ordering counter that also has some tables and then a connected dining room that was much larger. I like good rotisserie chicken and decided on the ½ mixed chicken with three sides of Cole slaw, mixed veggies and white corn bread. With tax the cost was a little over $ 13. The food was ready about 5 minutes after I ordered it(see pic). While th chicken looked good and average in size the size of the sides surprised me. They were larger than expected. There were 8 half dollar sized thin biscuits and the veggies and slaw were in tall containers(maybe 6 – 8 oz.). I didn’t care for the white corn bread but realize others may like that so I won’t score it. The mixed veggies of green beans and carrots lacked any flavor as they were not seasoned at all(2). Fortunately some salt and pepper that I added saved the day. I almost never season food at a restaurant but had to this time. The cole slaw was creamy and good in taste(3.5). The chicken was moist and flavorful. Very good(4). The meal was a lot of food considering the size of the sides. Really enough for two people. Next time I will order fewer sides and/or maybe even go down to a ¼ chicken. Counter service was friendly. While eating the food I kept going from a 3 to a 4 then back to a 3.5 which is what I settled on. I am rounding up for Unilocal purposes to a 4 due to the value of eating here. There is nothing fancy here at all but the low prices of the food cause me to round up. Most of the meals that one person would order are under $ 10 with drink and tax. I would return if in the area. While not a dumpy shopping center this maybe a better lunch option or dinner while still daylight for security reasons.

Soggy skin, chicken was barely warm and didn’t have much flavor. The red potatoes were boring, the fried yucca was good, but needed some salt. The sauce(there were 2 types) were both good. Still on the search for some good chicken.

This place has been around FOREVER! I moved into the area about seven years ago and I used to come here a lot just out of convenience. I came back last night because I wanted some protein for my gainzzzzzz and I’m trying to eat a little healthier. Can’t go wrong with some rotisserie chicken, can you? The people who work here are usually pretty friendly. The chicken is good! It’s seasoned right and is rich in flavor. If you get the half chicken meal, you can get all dark, mixed, or all white meat. You can also pick how many sides that you want. FYI, if you’re like me and get all white meat, the portion that you get can last you two meals, or you can share between two people. Prices are very reasonable. It’s gone up a bit since a few years back, but still very reasonable. The location is a little iffy. But since I live in the area, it doesn’t bother me too much. I have a feeling that I’ll be coming back more often. Like I used to before.

If you want GREAT food, for a GREAT price and a GREAT portion, Dodo’s is your spot. Seriously. From the outside, and heck, even from the inside, the place doesn’t look like much(appearances are the reason I give it 4 stars — this definitely isn’t a first date destination). But when your food comes out you’ll immediately understand what all the hype is about. This is genuinely good cooking. The chicken literally falls off the bone and it seasoned to perfection. The fried sweet plantains are delicious. Beans and rice are delicious. Even the whole red potatoes that are lightly salted and the sauces on the side to go with them are fantastic. Don’t even get me going on how good the horchata is… I will definitely be back SOON!

Great fresh chicken. The«small sides» that come with the lunch combos are generous. Plenty of seating.

To me, this is basically a no frills kind of place. Don’t expect much from the exterior but more so focusing on the food. I’m not sure if my dark complexion gave off that I speak Spanish kind of vibe lol, or if they just naturally do that regardless. But I didn’t mind at all. Got the lunch special ¼ chicken with three sides, I doubled the red beans and rice added fried yucca, and a horchata to wash it all down. Juicy chicken and tasty red beans and rice. The fried yucca didn’t do it for me though. I dipped it in the chimichurri sauce to help put some depth to it. as the stars states, I’m a fan!

I don’t care how a place looks if their food makes me feel like Scooby Doo with a biscuit when I taste it! This chicken is literally perfection… Tops my other West Coast favorites. Juice, normal sized chicken. Not pumped and huge full of hormones. Amazing, amazing«papa con sal» and yucca frita!!! They make this stuff with MAGIC! Cause I don’t know how else you get a potato and yucca root to taste so darnnnnn GOOD! I highly Recommend. Dont come here if you’re snooty and feel icky eating food in the hood. This place is the shite.

Ehhhhh, what can I say? For starters, the chicken! I ordered the ¼ roasted dark meat plus 3 sides. I was NOT moved! Juicy chicken, yes! Flavorful, nahhhh! The chicken was rather bland and lacked seasoning, especially after removing the skin. I also ordered the fried plantain, hush puppies and red beans as my 3 sides. Red beans was quite yummy and tasty.(take note chicken!) Definitely not a praise worthy spot. Sorry dodo

Food is always good here. Service is great also. They seem to care about customers a lot. I have eaten here, taken Togo, and I have never been disappointed at all. Fully recommended.

Chicken always cooked and seasoned to perfection. Large portions. I love it with their plantains and yuca. Not a fan of beans. They moved location to Richmond but I heard they’re now closed. Sad.

Luv dodo’s too! Always slob and suck on bones in there UNABASHEDLY. service as stated prior is why i give it 4… he can be dry and short if ur undecided anyway juicy chicken, juicier Sauces!!! rice n beans, veggie n corn combos are what I usually get and I just grub my life away. I think they enjoy watching me behind the counter cause their countenance totally changes once I launch in that plate. I gladly lick my fingers, but never the plate, well not in public 8D

I would give 5 stars out of 5 but the service is bad I guess it’s so busy that the cashiers hate you(the customer) and if you don’t know what to order be prepared to get attitude lol So before getting in line make sure you know what your order they like and want you to be ready and specific :-P But the FOODISGREATYUMMY moist tasty chicken and delicious sides that pair so well I usually get the fried plantains, beans rice combo and yucca and I’m a white meat only person DELICIOUS comes with a 12oz drink of your choice red or orange fanta my favs The only bad thing: always out of empanadas and desserts I’ve always wanted to try 3 leches or flan after my chicken but always out :-( The place is far from nice or fancy but the food is awesome!

I tried Dodos for the first time today. On the positive side, they gave me a discount for it being my first time. The red beans and rice were good and hot. The sweet plantains were okay, but a little overcooked. The chicken was dry, which should not be the case with dark meat. Also, they got one of my sides wrong. They are friendly though and did a good job of explaining the menu. I’d probably give them another chance.

Came here to try a new place as I wanted rotisserie chicken. Here are the facts: the chicken is good but nothing spectacular; I do have to say their red beans and rice are very good; the arepas were tasteless and tough. Perhaps they have been sitting around. My sister in law(she’s Colombian) makes the best arepas with cheese in the world!). I did not try their sweet plantains but they should be good. Overall, an okay place. The employees were very nice and happy.

Easily one of the best chicken joints ever. Seriously, it’s so so damn good. And the price is amazing! I’ve only ever been at lunch, but for about $ 8.00 you get chicken(white or dark), three sides AND a drink. And the sides are super extensive. There are some you have to dole out a little extra for like the sweet or green plantains, but there are so many other options, why would you bother? My standards are the black beans and rice mixed, corn on the cob, and fried yucca. Sometimes the yucca is a little better done than others, but it’s usually tasty regardless. And the homemade salsas are delicious, although they change from day to day as to which actually tastes better. Sometimes green’s the winner… sometimes red. It’s a fun game I like to play. They also have fun items like a pile of fried green plantain with chicken and cheese piled on… I’m not sure what that’s called, but it’s mega tasty. Long story short, amazing value for the money, and some of the best rotisserie chicken you will ever, ever have.

Come for the chicken .not the sides Lately I’ve been in the mood for some hole in the wall or mom & pop joints. All the fancy smancy joints are becoming mediocre to me. We came to dodo’s for dinner. probably around 7ish. Place wasn’t busy. You can tell the staff was cleaning up since they close at 9. We each got half a chicken meal, along with some sides. Chicken was still nice & moist. Perfect seasoning. Not too greasy like the one you buy from HEB or Krogers. My sides were fried yuca, rice, fried plantains, cole slaw. Biscuit It wasn’t good. Very eh… something you would get from a hospital cafeteria, or cheap microwaveable dinners.

Where else can you grab THREE sides and a quarter chicken for under $ 8.00? Add a strawberry Fanta and you have yourself a party! I have heard about this place for years, and it is nestled in an «interesting» strip center near a place called«Pink» with a relaxing massage sign in front, and a hydroponic place across the street. We all ordered the same thing, and the first thing I tasted was the red beans and rice. MMMMMM Good! The chicken was a tad dry, but the skin was roasted, a bit crispy, and well seasoned. The biscuit was fluffy, and the service fast. Oh, and bonus points for them showing the Young and the Restless, which I hadn’t watched since the dorm room days.
