Love there food. Authentic Columbian food. Love eating here. Recommend it to anyone looking for something different. Have not tried a lot of there food but I do recommend the arroz con pollo.

This place is so good. I live in spring but every time I’m south of fountain view I gotta stop by here.

I’ve been going here for years now. My long term love for Colombian cuisine keeps me forever on the hunt for the most authentic version I can find. This place is the closest to what I had in Colombia. The bandeja montañera and campesina are a must and right up any carnivorous texans’ alley. Don’t forget the empanadas and the camarones en salsa de coco. The service is better than most hole-in-the-wall restaurants. Honestly, for food like this, I could care less about the service.

It’s a hit or miss with this place. The food is often delicious, but some days you wonder if it’s all a joke. The several disappointing experiences keep me from coming more often. When it’s good, it’s good, but when it’s bad, it’s BAD.

Small place off of 59& Fondren. The ladies there barely speak English. I ordered the beef empanadas, an extra side of plaintains and the plate with the steak, sausage and pork belly with sunny side up egg and beans. I enjoyed the plaintains and the pork belly. The steak was too thin & chewy. The sausage was bleh. My hubby wasn’t a fan of the food either. The empanadas were stuffed and fat and was ok, I’ve had better. Good came out fresh and fast though!

Ordered lechon encendido, beef empanada. He ordered picada and beef empanada. My dish was pulled pork with sauce, rice, beans and plaintains. The medium/large was filling. The rice was fluffy, plaintains was soft and sweet. The pulled pork was the best part. It was extremely soft and well seasoned. The beef empanada was delicious also. I tried his plate also. It was family style plate enough for 2 friends or family and more. It had beef empanada, sausage, soft sweet plaintains, unripe plaintain, steak, ribs, potatoe, pork and more. It was really good and so was mango smoothie. Planning to bring our friends and family next time. Almost forgot salsa was tasty too. Now time to walk it off.

A lot of food for not very much money. Rice, beans, steak, egg, and plantains are very good. Pork belly is an acquired taste, even more with sausage. Juice is good too.

Food is very dry… but they are very generous with the food. The staff seems friendly and you get to watch them cook the food from behind the counter. It is a small and cozy restaurant. Definitely not where I would take a date, but it is a neat experience to try with a friend. The strong scent stuck to my clothes even though I ate outside the shop(ordered out; boxes were packed and wrapped carefully)… I’m pretty sure Shakira could smelled me from wherever she was. :-P

Excellent Empanadas! Picked up a tray of these Colombian Beef Pies for work, and they were devoured by my co-workers within half an hour. I was then approached all day, to include e-mails, about how delicious they were and whether catering is offered. Staff is always friendly and the food is legit Colombian Cuisine at a convenient price point.

I love this place so much!!! Yummy refreshing smoothies for the Houston heat and not to mention badass delicious plates and great lunch specials. The competition keeps changing their status on google maps to permanently closed, messed up in my opinion but this place still runs strong. They even opened a new location off hwy6. Much love. Best place for Colombian food in Houston.

OMG! OMG! OMG! This place is so good. Very clean. Very friendly. Very fresh tasting. They clearly cater to Spanish speaking customers, but they do have English on the menu and the waitresses broken English was quite sufficient. It was easy to find several delicious items to choose from. I had Ropa Vieja with black beans, rice, and plantains. It was delicious. This is a tiny little place in a strip center and easy to miss. It is well worth finding it. Tell them Jerry sent you. They won’t know who I am and they will be wondering who is this Jerry guy? And that’s funny all by itself. Enjoy!

In the area for meeting, my coworker and I were looking for a place for lunch. She is from Columbia and suggested Mono’s, as I had never tried Columbian food before. I really enjoyed the food here! I had the Pechuga a la Plancha, which had a wonderful flavor and came with rice, beans and plantains. Oh, and how I loved the green chili sauce on the table! Between my colleague and I, we went through the entire jar on the table. I am now a serious Columbian food fan!

Went to this small, hole in the wall-esque restaurant /Colombian Diner for lunch on a rainy afternoon, and it brightened up our day immensely. We both speak un pequito Espanol but were able to get the majority of our requests and questions answered in broken/quiet English with a smile from our waiter. Friendly/attentive service with recomendations. We started with 4 Empanadas(1.25ea) and they came out a little crunchier than I’ve ever had an Empanada(usually soft). Not in this case, hard fried outer shell, with excellently flavored/seasoned ground beef innards. Watery green salsa helped the dish, but needed a spicier alternative in my opinion. And a little less time in the frier. For entrée, I had the pulled-pork off the«Especialties», it comes with 3 well prepared plantains, a large helping of both rice and beans, as well as the pulled-pork/salsa combination that was extremely flavorful with a large tomato based salsa mixture, with equal portion pulled pork, more of a less watery stew. All of it mixed well together, keeping the prize possesion plantains separate. My girlfriend ordered another of the«Especialties», and was recommended by our waiter. Was only about $ 1.00 more than mine and came with a larger portion of food as well. Hers came with just 2 prized plantains, but equal to my portion of rice and beans, a large fajita steak(dry yet flavorful) topped with an amazingly flavorful small sausage link, an interesting spin(at least to me) on chicharrones(Colombian version of Pork Rinds), with a small Colombian biscuit, wedge of avocado, all completed with a fried egg on top of the rice/beans combo. All food was extremely flavorful and relatively inexpensive($ 10-$ 13 per entrée, $ 1.25-$ 6 apps, $ 3 Colombian Smoothie or Aguas in a variety of flavors). Would recommend, wouldn’t go out of the way for, would go back if in the area.

This is a great hole in the wall place, mom and pop restaurant. A hidden gem in Sharpstown. I took my wife to Pollo Ricko for lunch and lo and behold they only take cash and we only carry plastic, so… we do down Fondren to this great hole in the wall place because we were in the mood for Colombian food. The décor was fun. The booths were painted with the colors of the Colombian flag. We had Spanish and English stations on the TVs. The food was typical Colombian latin food with a few variations. The price was good and the portions were very generous. We started off with fruit smoothies. I had Papaya with milk and my wife had Soursop(Guanabana) with no milk. Both were creamy cold and delish. When the food came, wow! It was really delicious. We thought that we would have to take home a doggie bag but it was so good that we ate it all. I had the shredded pork with this creole style sauce of onions and tomatoes and my wife had the thin grilled steak which was really juicy. Both plates came with rice, beans, and ripe plantains. We will definately come back. They take plastic(credit cards) with an $ 8 minimum.
