By far the coolest, hippest and most innovative gallery in Houston. plenty of parking, most shows have vendors selling hand made art work, while original work from the hottest artist in H-town hang on the walls. East End Studio Gallery is great because it represents work from established artists from not only Houston, but from all over America, and Mexico! they also host several open call shows a year to help support Houstons up and coming artists. They do many benefits to help their community, and take a grass roots approach to keeping ART alive and thriving. You never know what you will see there, Frida’s in all shapes sizes colors and forms at their annual FRIDAFEST, sizzling hot erotica and tantalizing performers at the annual ILLICITCHINGONAS show, From graffiti, to fine art, to assemblage, to cultural awareness, to folk art, to imaginative performance art, to delicious food and drinks, and even smoking hot music and dancing. EASTENDSTUDIO has something for everyone! The Heart of East End!

Wow. The gem of the East End. Great art space for local artists to show and sell their work. The building that this studio is located in is so beautiful as well! I may be wrong but it looks like an old mid-century Hotel. You can see this structure scattered across the Houston landscape but rarely have they been reused to such brilliance. This whole area is full of businesses and is very quaint. One recommendation would be to convert the inner courtyard area into an open park or garden area rather than a large parking lot. Imagine something beautiful on the inside space rather than what it currently is…

On a sleepy evening in East Downtown, this place was hopping for the 8th Annual Frida Festival. There was a great turnout for art inspired by the life of the great Frida Kahlo. The studio is intimate, yet large enough to display numerous local art pieces along with jewelry and smaller art pieces. Also displayed were pieces created by students from Cypress Lakes HS of CFISD. It’s always nice to see a display of today’s young artists in a gallery alongside some of Houston’s finest artists. If you are in the area, stop by and support your local art scene!
