There is really nothing very good about this place and nothing really bad about it either. About average buffet that is like every other Chinese buffet. My son really likes eating here and that’s probably the only reason we still visit. Food is always hit or miss. I’ve never had an issue with the staff like other reviewers have but like I said we only come out after my son has begged a bit for it.

The BEST sushi buffet ive been to hands down. Usually service is great and the food is delicious but their are times when the food gets cold and they dont keep putting food out. The trick really is to just go when they are busy. That is when everyone tries their hardest.

I’ve been eating here for 20 yrs, and the food is always fresh and the service is great. Huge buffet, with sushi and salad and soup and desert bar. When you go in a Chinese restaurant and you see Asian people dining there as well you know the food is good… you will walk away stuffed.

The food is mediocre dog food at best but I tell you what really pisses me off about this place I just left I was with five adults and four kids separate checks the waitress tried to add 15% on everyone’s check even though the checks were separate because she thought it was a party of 10 it doesn’t work that way the restaurant business so she was looking to double tip and there was $ 20 of cash on the table for tips and she said there was only three dollars. I’m not coming back to this place service isn’t that great food is mediocre at best but this crap of trying to double tip that was the last straw.

I get take out from here once a week. You would think the tall guy behind the check out counter would be nice ONE time!!! It’s like my presence as a woman offends him. If there are men in line he will motion for them first. To the owner of your establishment there are many women that eat at your restaurant and it would be so nice at check out if he was pleasant and understood customer service. I like the food but his attitude makes me extremely upset.

Food is good enough. I and my girlfriend eat here every Saturday and it gets really busy during the time 6PM-7PM. However, food on some days gets a bit too much greasy. I knocked down one star because of this. Staffs take extremely care to the customer. The customer service here is the best compared to the other buffet places I have gone to.

This place is really good. Variety of foods on the buffet majority of the time it’s very packed. It’s a large restaurant so sitting really isn’t an issue. Food is always coming out fresh an hot. Service is ok there’s only a few waitresses for a large number of tables. But they do try their best to keep your glass full of your drink. Nothing is over or under cooked either sushi everything is fresh all an all excellent choice for family night out to eat.

I really do not know why I came back to this place. Maybe i thought after 5 months and tons of bad reviews, this place would improve? Dead wrong! To avoid the crowd, I visited it at noon today. It’s still crowded, but the place looked cleaner. The food is the problem. –crawfish: horrible, frozen for months i believe, i stopped at first plate. –sushi: it was fresher than usual so that was good. –oyster: PLEASEDONOTEATOYSTERHERE!!! I saw a centipede on an oyster after i already ate a few(see photo). I called the waitress right away, who appeared to be nice at first. After let her see the centipede, she told me «that’s why nobody work here eat this stuff»!!! I was like«what???» How can she just say that??? So i asked her to tell the manager. Instead of calling the manager(who is a very nice man, he greets you every time you come in), she called the cashier guy(the middle-age man wearing yellow shirt). I believe this guy was the«bad manager» guy that other reviews mentioned too. He came, saw the«worm»(as he called it) then said«it lived inside the oysters, you eat them, you have to carry the risks! We do not clean inside of oysters». Like, can you believe he said that??? And like other review said, I was not planning to make a fuss over it, but this«manager» guy started pointing fingers, moved them around, talked super loud like i was stupid for eating an oyster and do not expect there could be centipede crawling around. Thinking about it now, I should’ve had a better comeback at him, but instead i told him«alright, I want a check», and left angrily. There was no apologies whatsoever, instead he smirked at me when i left. This is the worst customer service that i have ever experience!!! So if you ask me for some tips when visit here, here it goes: –do not pay attention to your plates while eating if you do not want to discover some life forms living in your food. –you should call for highest manager if you have complaints, and if he harassed you, should’ve call the police. –final one: do not eat here.

My hands down favorite chinese buffet in the united states. Go for lunch, and feast on platefuls of salmon sashimi. Unlike other buffets, they restock their sushi quickly. There will always be those ppl who look down on buffet sushi. I am not one of them. This place is awesome.

I go here regularly and enjoy it a lot. One key to a good chinese buffet is that it’s busy, and the food doesn’t sit around forever getting funky. This place doesn’t have that problem. Items that I particularly enjoy include the fried fish, which are cornmeal breaded, quality pieces of fish, the boiled shrimp, which are pretty much always fat and tasty, and the spicy sauteed shrimp, which are worth getting your hands all messy for. The crawfish aren’t going to make you forget well done fresh crawfish when they’re in season but they’re pretty good. You’ve got to watch the buffet though and grab them when they’re brought out because they go quick and there’s usually a little line that forms. Lately they’ve got this thing with bok choy and vegetables that I really like, and the string beans are always good, otherwise I do wish they had a curry, and I guess I wish they’d get a little more creative with some salads, besides the sad, very pedestrian little bowls of iceburg lettuce, tomato, and other selections they have. There’s a lot of ways to do healthy cold salads if they’d only choose to try. Buffet Palace in Austin rocks the salads if you’re ever there. I always grab some sushi when I’m they’re…they have a good selection and it’s decent. I think most everything else looks pretty good there but I just pig out on what I like most of the time so, there you go. Iced tea is good, waitstaff is usually quite accommodating for such a busy place. Little pricy at $ 15 or more for an adult.

We had lunch here yesterday and the place was hopping! The buffet is great and for $ 9 for lunch, a pretty great deal, too. The service was also very good, although some of the servers don’t look very happy. I was so full from lunch, I didn’t eat dinner. The drinks were kept filled, the table cleared and we really enjoyed the food.

The manager here is like a guy works at a car towing place or a maybe a prison? When we brought up our concern with the food HEFREAKEDOUT and told us to leave. Never met anyone so rude. Obviously we’ll never go back there. I’d recommend only sending your enemies here?

The audacity of the manager here! Found a shard of metal in my sushi. Tell the waitress to get mgr. She tells me I gotta wait till he finishes his food. He finally gets to me and I show him. He says, «that couldn’t have been in the sushi where’d it come from». I tell him the sushi and he says no way. I told him if he thought I put it? Then he says I want free food. This guy here! Then starts waiving his hands everywhere trying to get his point across almost hitting another customer in the eye. I inform him. He says maybe we are from a different culture!?! His uses his hands to get his point across I’m guessing, U have to be kidding. Then says maybe I had a bad day before I got there and why do I have to keep talking to him. To just go… So I went and now I’m gone never to come back here again. Food seems to be going downhill anyway! Posting my picture too! Hope he sees this. Ps. He didn’t even care to check the sushi for more pieces!

If I could leave no star I would food is average we they do have good fried fish which my son loves so that’s why we ended up there we had a large group there for my sons birthday I asked the waitress to to just put everything on one check and as people left they could pay their part and if anything was unaccounted for Id cover it… Well the manager had a fit and made her remake individual checks so my family was the an additional 30 min while she did this then after he took everyone’s payment he informed me there was an additional 24 dollars that wasn’t accounted for that I needed to pay but he couldn’t tell me what it was for and yes they grated us 20% manager was rude and demeaning to us AND his staff

No stars! The manager is very rude here! We had family in town visiting and had a big group meet us here for dinner. They screwed up everyone’s checks, then the manager told us he was angry with us. Really? It shouldn’t be that difficult to charge us for a buffet and a drink per person. Never again! Stay away!

I like this place, but the only thing I don’t like is they won’t manage the buffet. There are kids putting their face over the food, touching the food while the parents act like they don’t see them. I go early before the obnoxious get there with their bad A kids. Food is pretty good, sometimes it’s cold not sure what goes on with them on some days. Not sure how flies get in the restaurant either, I’m just saying.

NOSTARS!!! This place is an effing joke… they refused to re-stock the buffet an entire hour before close and there were at least 20 customers left!!! I proceeded to address this with the MANAGER and he flat out didn’t care. To make matters worse… the cooks/employees came out and piled their plates high with what was left on the buffet. At about 40 mins to close this is what the buffet looked like …(see pic)

Had a dinner there. Food quality was very bad. Crawfish looked too red and fresh but when u open it is almost black inside. Crab was very tiny and not fresh. Muscles was not fresh and that’s why served baked topped by cheese. Oysters are not fresh at all. Sushi is the worst. Shrimps and grilled calamari was not too bad. I am not gonna do it again.

One of the best Chinese food buffets in the area. They are always busy which means there is always fresh hot food out! Some of the best things they have is the sushi. For being a Chinese buffet, the sushi is excellent. Fairly cheap too if you go during the week for lunch. It’s a little crowded sometimes but I think that it a great thing for a buffet. The greens beans are probably one of the best things on the menu. They have a giant selection of desserts also. If you are on a diet, I have found it pretty easy to enjoy this place still. They have lots of veggies and non-fried items to choose from. The chicken and broccoli is one of my favorites also. The seafood bake is very good also, for being seafood and cheese, it surprisingly is very good. They of course have all the essentials, fried rice, steamed rice, lo mien, general chicken, beef and broccoli, sweet and sour pork. All of it is very good for this being a buffet. Plenty of items for the kiddos also, pizza, fries, chicken strips, sausage and of course ice cream! My son has no issues finding things to eat like at some places. The waitress are super friendly and always make conversation with my kids. Overall we really enjoy this place.

Although I’m not from Clear Lake, I went with a friend who recommended this place as a good Chinese buffet in the Houston area. As far as Chinese buffets go, I was definitely not disappointed. I’ve been to pretty much all of the __Star Chinese buffets around, and this is definitely my favorite one of the bunch. They have all the expected choices and a good variety of sushi(which you don’t often see at these types of buffets). I was able to get a good sampling of the food, and I didn’t try anything that I didn’t enjoy other than the ice cream, which is strangely icy rather than creamy. If you live in the area or are strangely attracted to cheap Chinese buffets like I am, I would definitely recommend East Star above the others.
