We are still waiting for the email from the manager letting us know that they closed. We had a party planned for 65+ for the end of January and he just stopped responding to emails. Thanks so much. And thank God for Federal American Grill for putting on our party. They deserve 5 stars!

CLOSED??? Is this place still open? Tried to go by today(Wednesday) for happy hour and it was dark inside, no note on the door, nothing on their website. What gives?

We decided to give this place a try for our New Year’s eve dinner and we chose wisely! The place is beautifully decorated, and their selection of live music, a local jazz band, was perfect for the atmosphere. All of the waitstaff were attentive and friendly and I saved the best for last: the food! Each of the four courses as well selected and perfectly flavored. My favorite was the falafel sampler paired with delicious sauces. And what a great surprise it was to discover that the juicy ribeye was topped with a lobster tail! We will definitely be going back here again!

Their seafood was done wonderfully. Mussel and shrimp are fresh and tender where most other restaurants often over cook. Lamb cassoulet is very flavorful and thoughtfully made. Their tiramisu are absolutely to die for. It has the perfect balance of sweet cream, chocolate and coffee on a fluffy vessel. Their entire menu consisted with variety of ingredients, wide range of cooking techniques(NYE4 course dinner Ribeye are sou vide then grilled and vegetarian lasagna is very cleverly disguised) and very well balanced flavor.

Good service, good food. I really recommend the fig and wasp salad! The wild mushroom pasta was okay… a little bland for my taste. The potato croquette was decent — tastes like the usual potato croquette I guess :/Same goes for the schnitzel. The bar tender was super fun and nice too.

Great concept for a restaurant. Andre our waiter was very attentive and friendly. We ordered the Texas Schnitzel, mussels and fig and wasp salad– all very good. We got complementary wine for writing Unilocal review and also got to try the quinoa paella on the house from Camden(which was awesome!) Justin the bartender came over to make sure our drinks were up to par. We got the Through the Garden and Mojito– Through the garden was much stronger than Mojito but both were excellent. Overall great atmosphere and excellent service. Will definitely be returning! Thank you Andre, Camden, and Justin.

I was apprenhensive coming into Fig & Wasp because of the slightly old-school white table cloths and the cheesy club that used to live there, but this place really impressed. I eat out 5 – 6 meals/week and like trying new places. We had the potato gnocchi, short rib and muhammara. The food was A+(especially the short rib). The cocktails were excellent, too. I had the two whiskey/bourbon drinks and the bartender was a mixologist rather than your typical bartender/drink pourer. Great service and friendly people. one of the waiters even came out to help us with our car so we didn’t have to wait for the valet driver to come back. It’s definitely a nice addition to Washington. I’m looking forward to coming back!

Must try this restaurant. I can wholeheartedly recommend the Fig&Wasp salad. The dressing is superb and not something I can make at home. You won’t regret. Our waiter(Camden-a transplant from NH) could be more friendly, accommodating or professional. Just the right amount of care w/o disturbing the flow of our conversation.

A calm and serene ambience. The food is fresh and plentiful. The mussels are great… buttery and light. Ask for Camden. He is friendly and extremely accommodating… makes a great meal all that much more enjoyable. We need more restaurants like this that actual care about their patrons.

Came here for dinner with a few girlfriends. We decided to share the mussels, fig salad, paella and mushroom pasta. Unfortunately the only dish we liked was the mushroom pasta. The paella didn’t have much flavor and the mussels was too gingery. Our waiter was kinda weird and made us feel uncomfortable. My friend ordered a glass of wine which she ended up sending back because it was terrible and I felt like the waiter could have been nicer about it instead of being so short with her about it. Not only that we forgot to mention that we wanted to use our Unilocal check in to redeem our free drink and our waiter was pretty rude about that too. He practically scolded us for not showing it to him ahead of time and that he didn’t know if the manager would approve it or not since he had already given us the check. Other than our waiter the other wait staff there were really friendly and nice. Just wished the other food items were ordered tasted better.

Wait a couple of months until they get it together. Chaotic, apologetic, out of entrees(and this is a very short list to begin with), selected wine not avail. chef called in sick, half the entrees delivered to the table, the other half not, before they were picked up to keep warm. They’ve got some major issues to address. The Houston restaurant scene demands quality and service. The Fig & Wasp does not deliver. May give them a go again, next year! Maybe not!

The restaurant has yet to have their grand opening and are currently really open for feedback. I was very surprised by how interested the waiter, bartender, and manager were in our honest feedback. Our favorites were the lamb chops and tacos. The eggplant was lacking flavor and the rice in the chicken curry dish was undercooked. I think that menu will only get better since they are incorporating feedback and likely removing items such as the eggplant dish which has received mostly negative reviews. They do not have a dessert menu yet. The bar is not fully stocked yet. TIP if you check in on Unilocal you get a free wine OR cocktail! Was surprised the specialty cocktails were included in the special! Our group tried 4 different cocktails they were all ok. Now for the service — as the manager said himself our waiter was a dinner and a show. Honestly we were confused if we were on a reality show at one point. Took us a while to get cocktails, were told a vodka drink was made with whiskey, AFTER serving the eggplant the waiter mentioned most ppl don’t like it and to give him our feedback, etc. The venue itself is trendy but the music doesn’t really fit — very quiet and low key. Complementary valet. There is a wine bar on the top floor that would be a good spot when the weather is nice. Overall I see potential — I would come back but prob ask for a different waiter. He was very nice and meant well just needs more experience

Fig & Wasp is a new restaurant that has now occupied the old location formally of the clubs Reign and Beirut. What a major improvement across the board! The restaurant hasn’t had its coming out grand opening but they’re maintaining a soft opening till new years when the expect to conduct that event, but that shouldn’t deter you to immediately visit this great restaurant. They have complimentary valet and the area is quite limited and upon entering the business its a bit cold and doesn’t immediately direct you to where you need to approach, but once you make it to the reception area there is a nice galley of 2 and 4 top seats across from the bar for dining. Getting to the main attraction is the food here, imho, is impeccable. After spending time looking over the menu, the pricing is very affordable and on my best bang for the buck. We approached the hole menu as ordering an assortment of dishes to share as family style and all the dishes were impeccable with agreed concensus from everyone. Top performers in taste were the(2) beef short rib on bed of sweet potato hash, wild mushroom pasta,(2) honey roasted chicken on curry crema, angel hair pasta, roasted egg plant, paella, mashed potato croquetts(Complimentary by Chef), & Muhummara(great tasting red hummus). They’re all winners. With regard to cocktails, two cocktails everyone seemed to be regularly ordering were the Curious Fig and the Meditteranean Mojito. Along with great drinks service was on point. I’m glad to see another positive option for eating on Washington to popup and provide motivation for me to visit the whole area.

Was recently at this place, located in Washington St, so I would like to tell more about our dining experience: *Noticed that they have valet parking, but we arrived in an Über XL, but good thing to have. *Place atmosphere is really NICE, meaning that it shows a nice blend of minimalist and intimacy. In other words, upon entering Fig & Wasp I had this feeling that I was having dinner at a friend’s house and not a restaurant(it might have something to do with the lighting choice or the fact that the interior design is not«overdone» like a lot of other places in Houston). *Upon getting our table(also very minimalist, loved it), we got a complimentary appetizer plate from the kitchen(some yummy carrots & some other chicken stuff — I’m vegetarian so I skipped that), we ordered a bunch of different plates, so here we go: *The butternut squash/goat cheese was AMAZING. some of the best balanced recipes I have ever tried. *The eggplant is a MUST. Jeez, just the presentation alone(wish I had taken a pic but it tasted and LOOKED delicious). *Finally, the NAANBREAD. Wow. An absolute 10. And I love Indian food, but the chef at Fig & Wasp must have a secret way of doing it, who knows, just the right amount of garlic and the right amount of «puffiness» and PUFF! the perfect Naan! MUSIC. I have never reviewed a food place for its music but Fig(or should I say Wasp?) is definitely worth mentioning, since they play an awesome blend of House/Electronic music after 9pm that just made me stay longer than I should, probably! The DJ is spinning in the back and I had a chance to talk to him(name was Ken), pretty cool dude too, talked about a certain music festival coming up, etc. In general, Fig & Wasp really stand out from the crowd of pretentious and overly presumptuous places, my experience was super pleasant and I’m DEFINITELY coming back again! Try it. You won’t regret it! I certainly didn’t!

I attended a test opening recently and it was the worst dining experience I’ve encountered. It was a four course meal which had been prepaid. It took 45 minutes just to receive our first dish… A SALAD! That’s inexcusable! It took nearly 30 minutes to receive our next appetizer. We were never provided with a courtesy update or explanation from the waitstaff, we had to flag them down to see what the hell was going on. The manager explained that their system was down and were running behind. My question is: If you’re taking 45 minutes to deliver a damn salad, call it a night and refund everyone’s money. Save your customers the anger and frustration. After 2 hours and 2 average dishes, we walked out. Everyone else around the restaurant was looking at one another and also had empty tables. Absolutely horrendous dining experience, and my gf is still waiting on her refund. Memorable dining experience, but unfortunately it was for the wrong reason. I wish them the best.

We came for a birthday and I will definitely come back. I can say we ordered well over 12 plates and the party was very satisfied. As you can see I don’t really review places but the quality of the food and service was amazing. I loved the Texas Shwarma unbelievable. Since we are all about healthy eating this place didn’t disappoint. Looking forward to having my networking group host a happy hour here. And the waiter said they will be doing brunch and catering soon. Can’t wait ! I FIGGINGLOVEIT ! Fig and Wasp !

Came her on Cigna Sunday during their soft opening and they did not disappoint. We ordered the steak kebabs, chicken and fig, and the hummus. All of it was delicious! The fig sauce was perfect. The steak came with goat cheese, I’ve never had that combination together before but it was amazing! Def going to try making that on my own. Their menu changes every month with a new female chef :) I’m pretty excited about this place and their monthly menus. Oh p. s. outdoor balcony seating now that it’s fall weather is gorgeous!
