The music was very good, the bar was spacious and clean. I LOVE the fact that it is smoke-free. It’s so nice to go to a bar and listen to live music without choking on and drenching in cigarette smoke. I felt safe and very comfortable there. The service was slow, but friendly. The tacos(the only food they offer) is just awful and terribly expensive. I think I’ll hit a restaurant beforehand next time. They do offer you menus for places that deliver — if you’re into fast food. I am a photographer/videographer and they graciously allowed me to photograph and film the band. I did have to ask ahead of time. However, that is a huge bonus for me. A lot of places make you leave your gear. They didn’t give me any grief at all. That was nice! Overall, I really liked the place and would definitely return.

Anytime I have been here for live music I have had an awesome time. The food truck out back is always extremely promising as well after a night of dancing and booze. The dancing depends on the crowd and what particular show you are attending.

My boyfriend and I just happened upon this place and found it by a simple Google search for a fun night out in Houston. What a treat! Not only did we love the venue and the original look and feel of the place but it happened to be a night that Curtis Grimes was performing and we had no idea who this guy was before coming to the firehouse but we now own his album and will be playing his stuff on jukes around California! Thank you for showing us la locals a good time! Also, the whiskey is cheap here!

Such a fun place to go for a great country music concert. I’ve here many times throughout the years. The folks are always friendly, and the music is always good! Long bar in the back, big dance floor, tables on the sides and pool tables. The only drawback is parking… I always come early(so early it’s usually empty when I get there) but if I ever came late, I have no clue where I’d even attempt to park.

If you like country, I mean«really» like country, then Firehouse Saloon is the bar, dancehall and music venue for you. From the elevated stage with attached dance floor to your immediate right upon entering to the cowboy boots hanging from the rafters, there is no doubt at all what your about to here when you grab a shot of whiskey and take a listen to up and coming country western artists taking their fifteen minutes of fame. If your lucky, you could grab your guitar and catch the open mic on Wednesdays, but most of the time the saloon features established performers. One of the premier music venues in Houston, Firehouse is part of the cities history featuring some of the best local talent in and out of the area. With its laid back atmosphere, reasonable drink prices and AMAZING acoustics, you’ll become a fan of this Saloon’s natural twang.

I really enjoy this place but I don’t really go for the music. If the cover wasn’t so steep I’d go more often. Their pool tables are fantastic.

Went to see Daniel Crawford and was bummed that the cover was 15 dollars but we got a free cd and the music was awesome. Cool space and fun crowd and just an overall great show.

I’m not a huge Country music fan, but I went here with a friend to see a concert and it was very fun. I was surprised how cheap the drinks were — about $ 5 dollars a piece. The crowd was very mixed — some really dressed down«country folk» and some rather dressy«upscale folks». The ages ranged from 21 – 60. They have a small dance floor with not much dancing, but a few couples took a stab at two-stepping. We did have to pay for tickets to enter and they were $ 12 dollars a piece. I didn’t mind since it was probably going to the bands, who were quite good. I don’t think they had any food here, except I saw a sign at the bar that said something about there being hot dogs out back. I didn’t go out back and I’m not really sure where that was. At the end of the night, the line at the bar was super long. I’d recommend closing out your tab early so you don’t have to wait — and the line isn’t straight, so I was cut in front of 3 times.

I came to The Firehouse two weekends in a row. That goes to say that the live acts seemed to be good, Texas country music. The opening acts and headlining bands both weekends were pretty good, getting the crowd to their feet. There is a nice size area for people to dance and an area surrounding the dance space to sit and chat. The décor is pretty interesting with cowboy boots hanging from the ceiling, giving it a «Texas» type of feel — to me at least(hey, I just came here from NY). The bartenders were friendly and pretty quick to get drinks, even when the bar was packed. The have a unique system of keeping tabs — credit cards hang from a string above the bar. However, the bartenders still seem to be pretty efficient at finding your tab. There is a back patio area where you can hang out and have a few beers, a couple pool tables and some more seating. Overall, the place is pretty big and I never felt crowded and packed like a sardine like you can at most small venues. The reason I’m lowering my review to 3 stars… and normally I wouldn’t even think twice to comment on something like this… Welp, the bathrooms are gross. When I mean gross, I mean GROSS. There were only a couple stalls that were actually working, and the floor of the one that was working was soaked and disgusting. The other ones were either missing handles, doors wouldn’t shut or were just(yes I’ll use the same word) gross. I definitely expected something a little better being that this place is apparently a huge deal for Houston. Other than that, come check out the place. Ticket prices aren’t bad, the music is good, and the people are friendly. Just don’t break the seal ladies. You’ve been warned.

This place has been an establishment in Houston for decades. My dad even said he remembers coming here after work! The dance floor is kind of small, but the beer is cold and the rest of the place is pretty spacious. Beware of the rocks in the parking lot, Drunk a – holes leaving in trucks will spin their tires and chip windshields and paint. And don’t wonder too far down the side street after hours. There is some kind of hip-hop party place down there and the ghetto rats are thick ditch to ditch blocking the street.

Love this place! Came here to see the act of the night. Was in Texas for a week and that night was definitely the best! Might be a little bias because I love country music. But it was a great atmosphere, the dance floor filled up quickly. Quick service and friendly people. If I end up back in Houston, I will be stopping here for sure!

One of the best venues for Texas Country type live music. many other venues for similar big artists will have you sitting/standing far far away from the act. The close quarters of this bar makes things up close and personal from most spots in the place. It has been in business for a very long time in Houston and definitely a landmark in the dancehalls of the area. Put your boots on and come spin a lady across the scuffed old wood floor some time.

Great live venue for Texas Country. I’ve been here more than I can count. The staff is always fast, no matter the crowd. Be aware that shows start late here, headliners normally starting at 10:30 or 11.

I went here for a crawfish boil. It seemed like a decent enough venue for live music and a decent enough watering hole. The place seemed to need some repairs done to it, or if it was a work in progress. Seems to have a firefighter theme, which would limit there customer base if they are trying to cater to that group of people. Overall it was a decent enough venue, with a unique atmosphere.

Went here for the first time this past Saturday night to see Brandon Rhyder and was very pleased with the venue. The ticket prices don’t seem too steep and the drinks aren’t terribly overpriced like the rest of Houston. Parking can get bad if you get there too late and the same can be said for seating. Trust me, get there early enough to get a seat at a picnic table. I’ll definitely bookmark their website so I can look out for upcoming shows. This place is a very decent venue for some Texas Country in Houston.

The Firehouse Saloon certainly embodies its name. The side entrance from the parking lot bears a saloon façade straight out of the Old West, or at least one of those saloons in a makeshift town where costumed cowboys shoot cap guns at each other for tourists. And, it’s an old firehouse, complete with garage doors and old uniforms and boots hanging from the ceiling. The main space is cavernous, with a bar at the back, a couple of enclosed patios attached, and an outdoor patio out back. The Firehouse hosts numerous touring acts of the Texas and Red Dirt country varieties, from Cory Morrow to Jason Boland, with covers up to around $ 15. But it’s not just for concerts — our rodeo committee has taken to hosting happy hours here after work, before the bands go on. There are picnic-style tables scattered about, with a dance floor near the stage, and a great second-floor balcony vantage point to take in the scenery. The Firehouse Saloon is a spacious place to take in a slice of Texana compared to other strictly country venues, and a great spot to grab a cold bucket of beer.

My friend dragged me out here for a Houston Firefighters calendar thing; I normally don’t travel so far for some drinks. Okay, so it didn’t take much convincing(see above sentence). Parking is ample, though you might have to park further away. There’s cover, $ 15 at the time, though I paid $ 5 when I told the guy up front I only had $ 5 cash on me(might’ve been my hot knee-high heeled boots – or he wasjust nice). Inside, the Saloon is like an accessible country bar. There’s wooden tables, of the long and short as well as the tall, a stage for the live music acts, and a place to two-step it up in between the stage and tables, which plenty of people were taking advantage of. There’s a ton of space between the bar in the back and the tables, so no jostling or shoot outs here. The bartenders seemed efficient. When I ordered a club soda and asked for the amount, the bartender helping me offhandedly waved me off. Sweet! Of course, I did throw down some money for his tip. There’s even more space, though not much, and some pool tables in the rooms to the side near the back, and there’s a patio out back that faces the road and highway. You can wave hi at the guy selling newspapers(or something).

Love.This.Place. I am a huge tx country fan and this place is the best I have found to enjoy music and a beer. I love the venue, they don’t try too hard, good crowd, great music. The concerts are affordable too. Friends from out of town who don’t loathe country? Take them here.

The Firehouse brings in a lot of good local and Texas country musicians – from repeating acts Cory Morrow and Honeybrowne to Stoney Larue and Billy Joe Shaver. The place is filled with picnic tables, buckets of beer, a few pool tables, a bar in the back(with a somewhat outdated way of keeping track of patrons’ credit cards), some room for dancing in front of the stage and a fair selection of eye candy. And who doesn’t like drinking their Crown and 7 out of a small plastic cup? During crawfish season, they have great specials, and the kitchen cooks up mediocre fare – taquitos, burgers/chicken sandwiches, fries, etc. Tickets vary in price($ 5-$ 15) and the beer specials are welcoming: $ 2.50 domestic longnecks(during happy hour, 4 – 7 pm) I only knocked a star off b/c the office is NEVER open. Try and not lose/forget your credit card. They’ll never get back to you – you’ll actually have to wait for the weekend and drive up there for a visit.
