Thank you so much for changing the band. Grupo Kache is so much better, more entertaining! They’re the real thing. That is exactly what this place needed!

This review is totally only for Wednesday Latin/Salsa nights. As so many salsa places have closed down in the past month(Taco Milagro, Melody Club, Scott Gertner’s), I’m always happy when they open a new place up. This way I could have choices to go dancing because before Pistachio’s opened up, your Wednesday night salsa destination would only be Hughes Hangar. It doesn’t hurt that Pistachio’s is actually close to me! Anyway, this place is located off of Westheimer and Fountain View right next to Tacos Del Julio. There’s no cover to get in on a Wednesday night and no douchy bouncer either. Check your ID, go in, dance, fun! I was actually going to go to Hughes Hangar when my friend called me up and told me that his friend(who plays in the band) is having a gig right here and that I should come check it out. I thought, why not? I got in around 11 pm on a Wednesday night. As I turned into the parking lot, two cars were leaving so parking wasn’t an issue(at least for me). There were several spots reserved for MF Sushi, but at this time that place was closed already anyway. So, park away! Also, since I came so late, I can’t confirm whether or not they offer free class earlier. I will update when I find out, though. The live band was actually pretty good. They didn’t play long ass songs and make you dance for like 8+ minutes and make you do your aerobic workout on the dance floor when all you want to do is do some salsa! And when the live band is not playing, Salsa Eddy takes over the DJ booth so the music is good. They also play enough bachata but not too much to the point you go, «aww, bachata again?!» and they also play some merengue/reggaeton, obviously. The dance floor is plenty big! Definitely a lot bigger than the dance floor at Hughes Hangar. And on top of that, because it was only the first night they were having Salsa night on Wednesdays, it wasn’t too crowded. I mean, it was packed, but not crazy packed where you can’t actually do anything on the dance floor. MEGUSTA! Me and my friends had a table and our waitress was really super good. I mean, she was GOOD. She kept coming back to check on us. When we ordered our drinks, they came within 5 minutes. She got all the drinks right, no screw ups, no attitudes(and she was pretty hot), nothing! I totally approve, yo! Drinks are priced reasonably, I guess. It’s comparable to other clubs. So, if you want to drink(a lot), be ready to splurge. I’m definitely coming back here. Probably I’ll be going here more than Hughes mostly because of the proximity from where I live. Check it out, yo!
