The food here is good. I like to get their bun bo hue soup or wonton soup. I ordered to go here a couple of times and don’t have any complaints. The food is cooked to order and you get good portions for the price.

This is not the best Vietnamese restaurant but their food is decent. Especially if youre in spring/tomball/champions area and don’t want to drive all the way to Bellaire for good Vietnamese food. Their canh chua & ca kho is decent but not the best I’ve had. Soup bong bong ca is good except they put squid in it and i love squid but not in my soup. Egg rolls are crunchy n yummy! Fried rice, eh I’ve had better. Muc rang muoi is decent too. Overall I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here but if I’m craving Vietnamese food and don’t want to drive far, I’ll go here.

Food was alright, service was terrible ! We had to ask the group of servers sitting there eating if we could order.

Saturday Night I find out this restaurant closes at 11pm so I attempted to come the earliest possible so that I don’t stay past closing hour. I get to the restaurant at 9:30pm and after standing at the door for a few seconds the hostess/waiter comes out and says they were closing early due to it being busy earlier. *hoping this is helpful to people who may decide to eat dinner on a weekend at this time.

This place sucks. I brought my sisters and mom out here to try it out. Dang what a waste of money. Food was barely warm and price was not fair for what we got. We had three diff soups and they all lacked flavor. My niece had the chicken and pork rice dish and first look at it was like is their more meat coming? These cheap a** people ripping us off with proportions to price and ingredients are skimmed down. At least presentation was on point.

Recommend? YES Atmosphere is quiet, relaxing, Excellent lighting, very comfortable environment. Didn’t turn it to the Super Bowl though-dissapointing. I ordered Banh mi rho ko(beef stew and French bread for $ 8 — Expected something similar to French dip au jus. Received 2 French bread loaves and a bowl with beef and broth. An amazing meal – loved dipping the bread in the spicy, meaty sauce and eating the tender beef. Service is attentive, clean, friendly, One server working on Sunday – not rapid service, but good quality. Date & Time: 02/07/201605:00PM”

2.5 stars … I would’ve loved to have given more stars but for it being the first time here, it PHO-lunked. Setting is convenient off of 249. Plain exterior and unexpectedly — nice and spotless interior. I likey. We ordered quite a few things because of the reviews which will serve nicely as leftovers this week. Service was awesome… Staff extremely professional and nice. Complimentary potato app — was Quartered roasted potato w/little sugar, butter and ?.. It Was strangely good. Fried tofu dish was good… The bell peppers, onions, jalapeño, garlic and large pepper corns mixed with perfectly prepared tofu. was memorable. Fried rice rice noodle w/vegetables w/mixture of different proteins was a ginormously extra large and colorful dish. But not an «OMG this is so good, I’m gonna order this again kinda thing»… Sigh. Lo-Mein was pretty darn good — mixture of flavors very nice. Phở Tai was weak and unfortunately did not have any flavor… The broth was light. Almost like a chicken or vegetable broth vs a deep and robust beef broth. Even Sirachi couldn’t save it. This is gonna be harsh, but the truth. 1st time in 20+ years a bowl of phở couldn’t/wouldn’t be finished… Sigh. I went with high expectations. While Restaurant is good for the regulars or first timers that haven’t been spoiled by what ive experienced. I sincerely wish Hong Long continued success.

Decent phở, fast service. My broth wasn’t exceptionally hot which annoyed me when I got my to-go order. Great prices.

Update: The owner was very considerate about my concerns the next time I dined here. The food was great as usual. The service was much better, the server spoke to my family with respect and he kept them laughing. Overall, this is the kind of restaurant a family would enjoy. I am very happy that the owner took the time out to access the issue. I would recommend this place for they truly care about customer service and the quality of their food.

Me to my sister: «I feel like I was just taken advantage of.» Sister: «Because of the service ?» Me: «No, because I feel dirty!!» ***THISPLACESMELLS*** I probably smell :( It’s a smells that can only be described as seafood spit. It has a fishy spit smell… It’s hard to explain, point is it smells. So if it smells why did we stay and eat the food? Well because it was 7pm, I was hungry and my normal Vietnamese restaurant was closed. Now if you can get over the smell and weird customer service the food is okay. Weird customer service? Yes. They made an effort to have good customer service. They brought us a free appetizer and the food came out in a timely matter. After that tho we never got a refill or were really checked on till the end. One of the servers did ask,” Everythin ok?” then immediately walked away. I started to answer but she had already left. It’s kind of funny. It was just so bazar. I guess she wasn’t expecting a reply. I’m not sure. It’s just weird. It was a busy night so maybe she didn’t have time to wait for my reply? Anyways… FOOD: Free potato appetizer: best part of the meal. We asked the server what it was. He said,” Deep fried potatoes covered in butter & sugar.” Well no wonder it tasted good. Egg rolls: my sister liked them. I thought they were okay. Wonton soup: ehh, I’ve had better. The meat in the wonton tasted old. The broth was okay. Vietnamese coffee: deliciously sweet & strong! Chicken stir fry: it was okay… Wasn’t bad, wasn’t good. It was okay. As I’m writing this my face keeps scrunching up in disgust. I seriously feel gross. I’m going to go shower.

Pretty good Vietnamese food. On the menu is also some American Chinese food(sesame chicken and the like) but their Vietnamese food is where they shine. Skip anything with the word stir-fry on it.

Hidden gem! Such great food and attentive service. We’ve driven by this place for 12 – 13 years and never braved a visit because of the complete lack of curb appeal. I recently checked out Unilocal and decided to give it a shot. We are so glad we did! Now, our entire office lunches here.

Yum! We ended up having an unplanned stay at Houston Methodist across the street and didn’t want hospital food. Decided to give it a try. Couldn’t find a menu to order for take-out online so just popped over. I ordered phở and Vietnamese egg rolls and was not disappointed. Everything was delicious. My husband and I shared the phở and had some left. Wonderful little spot.

I’be been in Houston 12 years now and regret passing this place by so often. The food is truly elevated vietnamese cooking, layers and layers of flavor. The soup gets down in your soul. The steamed pork dumplings were better than most Chinese restaurants selling dumplings I’ve tried. Don’t let the strip mall appearance stop you, go here!

I’ve seen this restaurant for many years near the skating rink but never stopped in because I thought it was chinese food. Of course a few years ago, I realized that it’s actually vietnamese, but they do offer a few chinese dishes if you want that too. Because of the area and it’s presence in this spot for so many years, a lot of white people come in here to eat as well. They have all the usual vietnamese items, like spring rolls, rice dishes, vermicelli, phở, seafood and desserts I visited during a late lunch and there was like 1 other table of customers. For an app, I tried one of their new items, the lemon twist medium rare beef. I also ordered a combination rice dish with lemongrass beef, chicken and shrimp. Prices are pretty reasonable for most items, considering this isn’t anywhere near chinatown. Although the beef was overcooked on my appetizer, it was still the best tasting dish with the red onion, limes, mint, medium well beef, crushed peanuts and jalapeños all sitting over alot of juices. The combination plate was basically a large platter with mostly rice, some meat placed on top which was very dry and overcooked, a small side salad and a small bowl of fish sauce. I wouldn’t really recommend this dish. Service was good and attentive. This is a large restaurant for the area and reminded me as if I was in chinatown.

Overall the service was decent, had no problem with the waitress. the food was somewhat not cooked. their chicken was still pink in the middle for a child’s menu. the canh chua ca was not even hot hot. usually those soups and ca kho to take usually longer those came out quick and while we started to eat the entrée noticed that their fish was still pinkish reddish?! And for a waiter to come say oh the fish is supposed to cook like that. really?!? just disappointed that’s all. figured it be fresh but the food isn’t fresh.

There is a diamond in the rough, the rough decision of trying to find a good Vietnamese restaurant that has been around for a long time that has maintained it’s food and service standards at the same time. What you usually get is either good food and bad service or vice versa. Step into Hong Long. If you have ever eaten at any of the Kim Son’s like the one on Jefferson Street or Sugarland then you pretty much know you get not only decent service but a variety of food selections off of a menu as well as great food. Do you live on the North/North Western side and wish there was one here? Well this is pretty much close to the real McKim Son(see what I did there?). The difference you will find here is the menu is a tad smaller but still everything for everybody, the prices are about 10 percent cheaper, the parking is ample and not all clogged up from other wedding venues and it isn’t overly crowded. Interior is clean, design carpet, non tacky wall items, a little bar(not sure if anybody uses it but it’s there) and of course the usual monitor or two for your viewing pleasure while you eat. The food test, any place I can bring mother and her not bicker about anything of the food quality, amount and price gets an automatic 5 star for me. This little 72 year old lady that usually eats half of any portion passed the 90% empty plate test. I had the fried tofu(hold the bell peppers please and add spicy anything) and you’ve got a dish that will have you craving for more. Water could use a little tune up, it taste like something that was sitting in a aluminum container for a while but that’s probably the local water, not much they can help unless they want to do filters and such. Price for mother’s 10% senior discount(with i.d.) and my meal…$ 16! Service, my water did not hit the bottom except for almost the first time but anybody’s first round might be the quickest since thirst factor kicks in but not only that, I can count no less than 5 times during my 45 minute meal when they checked up on us and surrounding tables. Place is good for an easy 100 people so bring your crowd here… just don’t do it when I’m eating please. If you are driving down highway 249 and see the movie tavern, look next to it, it’s at an adjacent lot within walking distance.

Aside from steak, one think Houston is known for is bomb ass Vietnamese food. Coming from San Jose, where we already have plenty of phở shops and nail salons, I wanted to see what it’s like here. During a recent business trip, I asked my coworkers to take me to the best Vietnamese place around. Hong Long seems very upscale. A wine rack, actual carpet, flowers; very fancy for a Vietnamese place. I was beginning to doubt how legit it was. We ordered an appetizer sampler, which came with shrimp spring rolls, egg rolls, and dumplings. A strange mix of Viet and Chinese, but quite delicious. Spring rolls were fresh and crunchy, and everything else was up to par. I forgot the name of the dish I ordered, but it was simply chunks of chicken, shrimp, and beef over a plate of vermicelli and nuts/garnishes. All meats were delectably prepared and juicy. Once you pour some nuoc mam sauce on top. the flavors truly come out and blend together perfectly. Vermicelli was cooked just right as well. I can’t complain at all. Service is on point, and more attentive than your average Viet restaurant. Definitely a winner and a great representative of Vietnamese food in Houston.
