Don’t have a probes with the music or drinks just think is more for people of a certain age. I rather go to Montrose area :).

Requested«separate ways(wolds apart)» by journey. They played«don’t stop believing» twice. And they basically phoned in one of the greatest singers ever. Pretty fun place, but knowledge of journey songs gets you 2 stars.

I’ve been to Howl at the Moon for a couple birthday parties in the past but checked it out this time for Cinco de Mayo. They had some pretty sweet specials: $ 3 Dos Equis, $ 4 tequila shots, and $ 20 margarita buckets. They also had a complimentary nacho and taco bar but it was no longer offered when I arrived around 7:15. Bummer. Luckily the margarita buckets did the trick and even though they tasted like juice, they packed a punch. For those unfamiliar with Howl at the Moon, it’s a dueling piano bar. Different that your usual bar experience and a nice change in pace. They usually charge cover unless you’re there for a birthday party and get free admission.

This place was meh, We were trying to kick off the night here but meh… There were a few really funk drunk ppl in here dancing! they should’ve been paid for the entertainment rather than the band they had on stage. The folks on stage weren’t the best I’ve heard or seen in piano bar action, I think Pete’s Piano bar is the best but we were in this area and stopped in… I thought that the fish bowls were pretty pricey. Well the bartender told me for different sizes of the fish bowls they were all the same price. I’m calling Bullshit on that one homegirl! Why would anyone in their right mind pay the same price for a large fish bowl and settle for a smaller one unless the smaller ones was 100% proof alcohol… I find that hard to believe. Maybe she didn’t want to be bothered. We settled for some jello shots from the friendly jello girl. We waited around for about 30 minutes for the group to play the paid($ 20) song we requested after we paid them. They were so terrible we realized how much they would’ve butchered it and just bailed…

I really enjoy this place, can get a bit crowded sometimes but it’s still enjoyable. The small section that is the«dance floor» is sometimes occupied by people just standing around doing nothing just finding space to stand around since it can be a bit crowded. You can sign up to win a «party» so you and friends can get in for free and have cheap drinks but those cheap drinks are limited to only certain drinks and to certain times if I am correct. The people performing have been quite good when I’ve been there and I’ve enjoyed their music. It’s right next to Celtic Gardens and Third Floor so if live music is boring you, you have two other options.

So if you like really loud live music, and not talking to the people you’re with, this is the place for you. I met a few friends for happy hour she won on a Thursday, and the place is empty(typical they said). Maybe I was unrealistic, but the guys playing the piano and other instruments was so loud, we could hardly communicate with each other. I can see how this was be fun for a fri/sat night, but happy hour is usually for socializing, and you can’t do that when you can’t hear. The nice part was the cheap drinks. With the happy hour my friend one, each guest got 2 $ 1 drink tickets. It’s wells and domestic beers only, but still a good deal. Probably only be back for a special event.

I love this place soooo much! A great place to hang out with friends! Also you can have chance to win free party, which I got one!!! You have to pay the entrance fee and always there are so many people waiting outside in line but it worths the penny for sure! Music was cool!

I would love it if you would play more dance music and a lot less of the thong song. I would stay there all night if there were scantily dressed professional dancers.

LOUD. Too loud. And I’m not too old. The musicians were talented enough. Bad location, super congested and feels unsafe. Right across from a gas station and no nearby parking. I don’t think I’ll be back, sorry.

Dinky venue on a busy street in midtown right next to Celtic garden! Forget looking for parking and paying $ 10 to park in the lot! Valet for $ 9! But they ask you for the money up front, which is a little weird because normally you pay when you get your car back! There is a $ 7 cover for the bar. Haven’t paid cover in a long time! I don’t remember paying cover at some of the other Howl at the Moons in other cities but I could be wrong. There aren’t a ton of tables so even getting there around 8:30, there were no seats left. There is a dance floor and two bars. The performers are pretty amazing! I danced and sang to almost all the songs they did. They get everybody moving and you work up a sweat! I had a ton of fun, even dancing by myself! From the Cuban shuffle to Usher’s «You Got It Bad», they took you back old school and to the top 40’s now all in one night! There’s also a good mix in the crowd — all ages dancing to the same beats. Pretty awesome to me!

I was invited to an outing here after work on a Friday to witness the dueling pianos. It was more of a we take your request night, but the guys didn’t play anything I requested. However, a homegirl showed up and granted my wish. She played Nasty Girl by Vanity and I was done for the night. Her arrival made this night awesome. The drinks are high as a kite at $ 18 for a cocktail… sip slowly.

This place is great! I went on a Friday night and there was a nice crowd. I really liked the band and live music; each member is really talented and rotated to different instruments. The singers were great too, a lot of times I kept forgetting they were doing covers and not playing a recording of the real song. Good song variety too, oldies mixed with modern hits. One of my friends made a Justin Bieber song request(Baby) as a joke and the drummer took a look at it and tossed the paper on the ground, which we thought was hilarious. So I came to a party that someone hosted through the bar, and it was a pretty good deal. Free cover and the first 2 drinks were a dollar, and then everything after was $ 3.50. If anyone knows how to set that up, I’d recommend it.

Went here a couple times during my time in Texas. You HAVE to get the buckets of booze. SO good and fun!!! The piano bar is absolutely fantastic — the quality of the musicians is just great. I definitely recommend this bar for to any of my friends visiting the Houston area.

I was invited here, because someone I know won a happy hour party. It’s a cool setup, I love the piano sing off challenge. The music is all the way live, and the dance floor be packed. It’s a diverse crowd, young, old, black, white, everything hangs here. The drinks are pretty good, and reasonable during happy hour. It has a nice space size inside and out. The music is really loud, so it will be hard to hear your friend or phone. All in all cool, and different place to hang on a Friday night.

Understandably this place won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. It wasn’t mine either the first time I went. Yet somehow a few years later this place has turned out to be one of my favorite midtown spots. It really all does depend on who you come with and what type night you’re trying to have. I come here with friends and family to grab a seat, enjoy the music with a few drinks, sing along, etc. The age range here is usually across the board and you usually don’t see much of the usual midtown craziness happening. There are plenty of other spots around the corner of your looking for more dancing. Howl does have a small dance floor, but it can get so packed in this place that I wouldn’t say it’s an ideal place to dance. The staff here is so talented. It blows me away home smoothly they transition between a the most random songs that the crowd throws at them. Just find a request pad laying around, write down your song request, place a little change alongside if you wish to and hand it over. They try to get to each request. I’ve always had good experiences with the bar staff. Drinks come quickly even when this place is packed. I’ve also come many times for happy hours here that friends have won. It makes the place a little more affordable but honestly the drink quality goes down. Don’t think that this is the place for you? Give it a try. or two before you make a final judgement.

Although I haven’t been lucky enough to be one of those people who have won a happy hour for 100 of their friends, I’ve been lucky enough to be invited to one. Now these happy hours happen on Fridays and it starts at 5:00 pm although to be fair, unless you work downtown/midtown area, nobody’s going to show up at 5:00 pm. I do recommend coming a little bit early though. Yes, you still have to pay to park on the street until 6:00 pm, but it’s probably only going to cost you less than $ 1. It’s definitely much better than coming later during the evening and drive around trying to find parking or to valet because it will cost you $ 6 + tip(unless you’re a cheap bastard who doesn’t tip). If you’re invited to a Friday happy hour, then you’ll get two tickets at the entrance. These tickets are good for $ 1 drinks. You could get domestic beers(including Shiner and Dos Equis), wine, or house spirits. If you come with friends who don’t drink, then you get more tickets for yourself. Yay! They also have a smores station by the bar in the back and some free food! They change up the menu every week. The last time I was here, they were offering pulled pork sandwich and some chips. But in the past, they had offered nachos, quesadillas, etc. And did I mention that they’re free? Just don’t forget to tip the server, mmkay? If you show up early, then obviously there’s not going to be plenty of people. But as it gets later, more people will show up. The musicians rotate. I personally think that they’re all very talented because each of the people who perform play more than just one instruments. They can do the piano(because it’s a piano bar, duh!), the bass, the drum, the guitar, and one dude even performed with a violin(viola? I don’t know dude! I’m not a musician!) The musicians take requests and they can play a lot of different songs from different genres. I heard 80’s, 90’s, Taylor Swift, Destiny’s Child(pre-Beyonce), country, line dancing, all kinds of music to cater to every single one of you. Of course, when you request something, don’t forget to tip the performers and don’t get pissed off if your request doesn’t get played. I’m sure they try to play everything, but I’m sure there’s a limit to their song knowledge. All in all, it’s always a good time when you go howling at the moon. I’ll be back to howl some more.

This review is based(and bias) on being an EDM and rap/hip hop head from the Los Angeles area. Visiting a friend from Sugar Land, he took me with his group of friends to Downtown Houston to enjoy the night life. I definitely did. Saturday night parking was a struggle. Ended up paying $ 5 at a lot adjacent to Howl at the Moon, and even then they were running out of spots. Cover charge is decent and there was a dancer at the front selling bottles of few brands of domestics for $ 6 each(cheaper than back at home). I stuck to Shiner Bock(keeping it TX yo). Dance floor and bars were crowded inside. Much side to side walking and zig zagging to get around. Music was more country pop based so it took me awhile to find any sort of groove lol. One thing I liked about the musicians were that they were a cover band and you could request songs. It was smart on their part to have a paper and/or envelope where you request what song you want to hear them play and you can attach money with it. In need of a major genre change, I got a paper and wrote down«anything Kanye West or Eminem»(despite not being a fan of current Kanye) and added a tip. In about 15 mins, the band started playing The Real Slim Shady by Eminem and I suddenly had to urge to get in the zone. They even sang/played Forgot About Dre(clean version of course). It actually started a string of other hip hop songs and I’m glad it seemed the crowd got into it more. Went to the further bar towards the end of the room and ordered an AMF. Sadly, the drink was mostly ice and I could barely taste any alcohol. Ended up getting more Shiner Bock to buzz me through the night. Verdict: Price: 5⁄5 cheaper than LA nightlife Drinks: 5⁄5 for beer 1⁄5 for AMF Music: 4⁄5 kudos to the band taking requests Parking: 1.5÷5 good luck

I can’t believe I have been to this awesome bar until now! At 6PM, the bar will have two people who will be showing off their cool piano and singing skills and you can even make song requests(Tip these talented people too, please). Surprisingly even when the performance going on, the bar’s large space is not too loud and can still allow normal conversations instead of yelling conversations to happen. The waiting staff is also super cool too and actually treats you like a human being unlike other bars. Anyway, I don’t care if you don’t drink. Go out with your friends to check out this cool dueling piano bar! If your friend won a happy hour here, you can get a beer or a drink for $ 1 too, so don’t decline the invitation there.

This place is so much fun and they have awesome talent for entertainment! Night started out kinda slow, but once 10pm hit it was jumping! Definitely gets a younger crowd around then but everyone was having fun! Happy hour is awesome with great drink specials and free food. They even have these bucket drinks you can abd should share with your table! Can’t wait to go back!

Reneged on our reservation. My friends made a reservation for all of us to have happy hour at Howl at the Moon. Not only did they refuse to honor the reservation, they also shoved them out and threatened to call the cops on them when they tried to talk with them. I’m definitely never going to this place, and if I could give them 0 stars I would.
