Cute spot with unique drinks. Drinks are weak but tasty. Bartender is super slow in making drinks. Ambiance is cute though!

This is a fantastic bar located within an older looking building. Once you walk inside, the décor and setup of this place will wow you like it did for me. It has this eclectic hipster vibe to it and I felt cool for a little bit. We came here for happy hours and their HH does not disappoint. My favorite drink was the cajun cocktail which had this spicy hint to it with each sip. The minted and old-fashioned are the other two popular drinks for those who like that kind of alcohol. My favorite part of HH was the oysters. A half-of-dozen oysters was $ 6! We ordered only a dozen and if we weren’t going on a foodie adventure, I would have probably order like…3 or 4 dozens(I really really love oysters). The oysters were plump and good IMO. I look forward to coming back here when I have the chance!

One of my go to happy hour places. Great bourbon based cocktails like old fashioned and mint julep. They also have half dozen oysters for $ 6 during HH.

Excellent. We showed up for happy hour before the crowd. Honestly we thought they weren’t open yet before we walked inside. I loved the interior– very chic and trendy, but comfortable. Definitely a small space but they do have a nice covered patio as well. My husband and I both ordered the mint julep. 10⁄10. We also ordered a dozen oysters($ 1 each on Monday!), pimento cheese, and smoked fish deviled eggs. The oysters were from Prince Edward Island– much better than the fatty Gulf oysters, in my opinion. For the second round, I had the old fashioned and my husband had the creole crusta(and we shared another dozen oysters). Both drinks were excellent! The old fashioned was probably my favorite. Hand crafted cocktails, scrumptious small plates, and dollar oysters… what more could you ever want! Show up early for the best service and parking. We will definitely be back!

Stopped in here over the holidays and place is as great as always! The signage outside is better and the place has gotten a little trendy. On this trip I decided to try the Ramos Gin Fizz. For a $ 20 drink it was well worth it. The recipe called for about 8 – 10 minutes of hand shaking— yes it was a super long long time… and well worth the wait! The fizz came out super smooth and creamy. See my earlier review for a more comprehensive review of the place.

You’ll know a bar is A1 by the type of ice they use. Always trust the ice lol. I attended an event here last night hosted by Solange. It brought out a crowd which made the bar service a bit slow but well worth the wait nonetheless. I forgot how good the handmade cocktails are. Makes you appreciate the effort they put into each ingredient.

Very Cool! I had my first Mint Julep and they did it Nicely!!! Apps were good too! Space inside was small but they do have an outside patio for warmer climates.

If you’re coming with a big group, beware of the limited seating inside. They do have a patio area though with heaters so that’s always an option. I came here a few weeks ago with my coworkers. Staff is friendly. We mostly had drinks. We shared the cheese board. Personally I feel like some of these items are over priced. There were probably 6 of us sharing this board and it really wasn’t that much food($ 30 for the board). I ended up picking up dinner elsewhere on the way home. The drinks are really good, but they are craft cocktails so expect more expensive drinks with better quality spirits and tons of ingredients. I had the clover club and the rebel rose. Both were really good and kind of sneak up on you. I wanted to try the ramos gin fizz, but I was not going to pay $ 20 for one drink. I actually wasn’t even paying, but I just felt bad ordering a $ 20 drink on someone else’s dime. The mint juleps looked good, but I didn’t try one. Parking can be tricky as they share a lot with a gym. I was able to find a spot out front. There’s a lot in the back as well, but I’m not sure how big it is. There’s also street parking. This place is good for smaller groups, but don’t come here hungry unless you’re prepared to spend a lot of money on smaller plates and snacks.

This place has a cool bar scene! I went on a Saturday night around 11pm and it was pretty crowded! Really great music and lively with everyone talking and the drinks flowing at the bar. We grabbed a table about an hour later indoors and it is a really great place to people watch I must say! Also drinks were made really well! Just takes a while to get em! Would definitely consider going back when I’m in h-town! :)

I had a mule and julep here, both of which were great. Servers were nice and quick to please. I could definitely see it getting a little hectic when crowded. Bottom Line: I’ll be back for a nice craft cocktail if I’m in the area.

Oysters. That’s all I really want to say. Happy hour on the weekdays are the best! $ 1 oysters, and $ 1 all day on Monday. I got the chance to try oyster from Canada(I forgot what they were called) but it had a sweet taste to it that you definitely do not find in gulf oysters. We started by ordering half a dozen and we ended the night with 3 dozen oysters. I couldn’t get enough of it! We also ordered the deviled eggs, but those were only alright. Pretty bland. The cheese looked good, I will have to order that next time! I ordered the mint Julep, oh man, that was strong! So I switched with my boyfriend who got a snake bite. That was better for my taste buds. But the oysters… I wanna go get 10 more dozens. When we first went came in, we weren’t so sure if it was a self seating or wait to be seated and no one greeted us to let us know. I hate when that happens. It’s so awkward. We just stood there and after a couple minutes, we seated myself. And after we were seated, we sat there awkwardly again not knowing if we should go to the bar to order or wait for someone to come to us. Finally someone came and gave us the menu. I said oh we weren’t so sure if we were supposed to go to the front to order or not, and the guy said«well wait a couple minutes and someone will be here» Ok. My bad bro. Jeez. The service got better as the night progressed, but honestly, I’d only come back for the amazinggggg oysters.

What an adorable little place! I haven’t been to Washington area in a long time and my gf suggested Julep for happy hour. They have a small lot on the side entrance, I guess it’s only street parking after that lot is full. Upon entrance we noticed the patio, very cute! I’m not sure how to explain the décor. I love old houses/buildings that’s converted into restaurants and bars. Julep def had the old timey Classic vibe to it. We ordered the drink specials from the hh menu, $ 6. They also had small plates to choose from on their hh menu. There’s a seafood tower that sounds awesome but $$$, prob worth checking out though with a larger group of ppl that like seafood. :) I will def be back to check out more of their unique cocktails that they offer and their food menu.

Can I really say anything bad about Alba Huerta? I absolutely adore this place and I’m pretty sure I don’t need to validate Julep. I love the drinks here and the service. The waiters/waitresses here are really personable. If you aren’t sure what to drink, ask them. They offer great reccommendations. Julep recently updated their food menu and it’s pretty decent. I wouldn’t say it’s the best thing in the world, but it will hold you off until you go to your preferred location to eat. I would recommend the potato and hush puppies also the different oysters from different states. The deviled eggs are pretty flat, no bells and whistles to keep me keen. Parking is hit or miss and it is dependent on how many people is in the bar. I usually prefer to go odd days such as weekday evenings(DONOTCOMETHURSDAYS) so you can actually have a seat and hangout with your friends.

Stopped by this place momentarily for one drink on Sunday. It’s a different bar than most of the places in Houston and they offer very unique drinks. I’m still on fence about Julep, so I need to re-visit during happy hour and get a different experience.

Saturday night, sat outside with a group of 4. Service was slow. The seafood tower is simply not worth it. The dips are good but not great and one of them is simply cheese wiz. The crab and lobster is good and oysters are okay if you like them bland. The drinks tasted great but just were not enough. The glasses are super small and filled with ice. Great atmosphere but just won’t be returning.

Very cool, Southern themed cocktail bar on Washington. The good: Drinks are delish, beautiful, and well made. The cocktail menu changes quite often, so there are always new drinks to try. They have a food menu that has mostly seafood options. The place is COOL and chic. Seriously, even the bathrooms are beautiful. Staff is great. Pretty ample parking(for Houston). Outdoor seating, too(for the five months a year it isn’t too hot to be outside). The bad: the drinks seemed fairly well priced(for upscale Houston cocktail bars), $ 8 – 14 per drink(full price). However, the food, I thought, was incredibly overpriced! It gets a little on the loud side, too! All in all, a very cool Southern cocktail experience! I’ll probably go back. But next time I’ll try to make it during happy hour(that’s hard for when places end their happy hour at six)!

Julep ist ein Stück von Louisville in Houston. Die Getränke sind toll. Die Angestellten sind sehr freundlich. Das Essen ist köstlich. Zu jeder Uhrzeit ist was los. Ihr sollt unbedingt hin!

It was actually not too hard to find, the lighted sign was easy to find at night, but the hardest part was parking. There’s only a few spaces out in front or street and valet options. We went on a Friday night around 9 and all the inside booths were filled(not too many around the sides to begin with) and it was already somewhat filled with people standing near the bar. Booths are first come, first serve so if you see someone leaving, go snatch it! Nice interior décor, but ended up having to sit out on the patio for a group of about 10 due to a lack of interior sitting space. Simple outdoor space that’s good for groups to hang out. It does get more packed as the night goes on. The bartender/waiter was really helpful in helping to recommend a drink. I tried the cherry bounce sour cocktail and it was much better and sweeter than I had expected. I really liked the drink and a lot of the other girls got it as their second drink after tasting a bit of mine. They did give water and refilled it through the entire night. Friendly staff. Definitely recommend it and would go back for it! They have a lot of cocktail varieties and all looks very presentable and delish. Definitely would check out some of the other drinks they have!

Drink and food menu have been updated since the last time I’ve been here. I tried two new cocktails — the Snake Bit Sprout and the Rose Boulevard. Out of the two, I’d have to say that the Snake Bit is my favorite. It’s very refreshing, and if you like tea, or chamomile tea, this is a really interesting drink to try. It’s slightly sweet, and the dried chamomile flowers on top give a nice aroma each time you take a sip. The Rose boulevard is very nice as well, but it is a lot stronger than the Snake Bit. Definitely a «sip every so often» kind of drink. For food, of course I’ll always try their oysters for the day. 10 times out of 10, I’ll always like them, so there is that. I did have the great opportunity to try the rare Belon oysters on the day that Julep received them. As many say, this should not be your first oyster, and you should try one before ordering more. If you ever tasted metal, as weird as that sounds, that’s what a belon oyster tastes like. Metallic, acidic, smooth, with flavors so profound that you will either hate it or love it. I’ll have to be the weirdo here and say that I actually liked them, and proceeded to order a few more. If you’re adventurous or a seasoned oyster eater, definitely try a belon when you get the chance. You never know! Food menu updates include lobster roll, served with seasoned chips. I did not have the roll(too busy with the oysters, you see), but ordered it for my coworker, who ate it within five minutes… which pretty much tells you… that you should try it too. Other things to note: Tip– Oysters are $ 1 each on Mondays, and happy hour is 4:30−6pm daily. Parking, on the side, in front of the restaurant, and there is also a back lot. When it gets dark they start to valet cars as well. Service is superb– gotta have that Southern hospitality, you know?

Been hearing about this place back when it was in its soft opening and kind of avoided the hype around it. Well one night after a concert at Warehouse Live we decided to stop in before heading home. From the outside it just looks like another bar but from the interior it is very sexy and perfect for a date/happy hour get together to talk about whatever. The bar tenders are courteous and know how to mix their drinks. Drinks are on the pricey side but that’s expected for this area and for really good craft cocktails. My favorites were the«two drinks coming» and the«cherry bounce sour». These will turn a responsible drinker into a gawd dawg alcoholic yo! I also tried the Rose Boulevard and the Cajun Fig Rum and they were good too but didn’t compare to the other two I mentioned. I sometimes have dreams when I’m at work about them(Running through the 6 with my woes, but you know how that ish goes!) I haven’t tried their food yet but I’ve heard that what they serve is pretty good also. Definitely a spot I will be returning to soon!

What a gem — an awesome addition to the burgeoning cocktail scene in Houston! Came here on a whim with a friend who wanted to check it out, and was glad I did. I was there on a weekday, and the place was not crowded at all which I loved. We took a seat at the bar(which IMHO was the best seat in the house) and admired the gorgeous surroundings. There’s a central bar with seating and surrounding tables and booths along the periphery. Lighting was dim and definitely created an atmosphere of intimacy. The bartenders were super, super friendly and helpful — big points in my book. We went by all their recommendations and were not disappointed by any of their drinks. Highlight was the Old Pepper — I was a bit put off by the description(Worcestershire and hot sauce?!), but it tasted fabulous. Highly recommended. Big ups to the bartender who gave me his guarantee on the drink. Would definitely be back again — next time probably on a weekend so I can get a feel for how crowded it gets(hoping it doesn’t for my sake haha). Based on a one time visit, this place gets 5 stars for service/friendliness, atmosphere, and drinks.
