Went here with the family for Chat. LOOOOONGWAIT! and the food was surely not worth the wait. and the chats tasted store bought as they were prepared with least zest and no fresh ingredients. The samosa chat and Dahi chat were bland and tasted nothing like chat. The zangri was sour and had gone back already. When I tried to let the person behind the counter, he spoke no English. overall, did not get an iota of chaat experience I was so looking forward to! Will never go back and I seriously don’t get why the Unilocal reviews were so good leading me to expect the best! Disappointed.

Worst dabeli ever I had. They put masala dosa masala in bread no chutney, just on side. Never come here again.

What a let down. Below average chaat. If you want to eat good chaat go to shiv sagar around the corner. The restaurant itself is nice, but the food is average.

I can’t believe I’ve been missing out on this place for so long! My co-worker finally decided to take me after raving about this places for ages. We ordered the papdi chaat, samosa chaat, and thali. The papdi was phenomenal and definitely my favorite. I’m already planning my next trip this weekend. As for the restaurant itself, it’s tucked away in a little shopping center next to a chevron and udipi café owned by the same person. The place was empty during lunch and the food here is very cheap. Place is a little rundown and service is a little slow, but the food more than makes up for it.

Chaat that actually looks appealing… that’s rare! The Papri chaat was presented beautifully with garnish and all. The portion was a little smaller than I had anticipated, so my family and I treated it more like an appetizer. But hey, for $ 2.xx it was so worth it! Great flavor and so pretty. The majority of the menu contains items under $ 3 each. I’m a lover of Bhel Puri(popped rice with spices, potatoes, tomatoes, etc.). I’m being serious when I say that every other place on Hilcroft that offers bhel puri sells it for double the price. And boy, the serving of my Bhel Puri was huge. Crediting the fifth star to the woman behind it all. She made all of our food on her own, and had the most pleasant demeanor while serving us. She didn’t say much, but her smile was so warm and welcoming.

Really good service by a wonderful staff! The presentation and the food quality can easily beat shiv sagar. And yes, this place is quiter too. The chat was nothing great, they could improve on that front. But m not complaining. Overall, a good experience!

We came to this place in search of wanting some chaat. Despite all the reviews we thought we would try it out. We ordered dahi puri and bhel and was definitely not worth eating — they both were very sour in taste and didn’t seen to taste what bhel n chaat should be. We also ordered a lassi which was way spicy with a odd taste. Don’t recommend this place for chaat.

Hands down the best chaat place in hillcroft if not in houston. Try the falooda its exquisite! Must go if you want the best food at really great prices! Go here and be reminded of India!

Great prices and great food! Can you ask for more?! I enjoy their lassi so much after a spicy, tummy-burning, Indian dish. It really helps to cool you down and make it easier the next day(if ya know what I mean *wink, wink*) I’ve had the FALOODA before and it was very tasty. I’ve never had anything like it before. Must try if you’re on a budget.

I had the samosa chaat and bhel puri. Both were delicious. The accompanied chutneys were spicy and fresh. Would recommend.

Its a humble place, good food and service with a smile :), I love the chat, it is better and consistent than most places around here. So food and service wise I AM A FAN! I would give a five star if they were did something to jazz up the place a little. The Dinner Buffet also used to be good, I dont know if they have stopped serving or we reach late each time :/ I would certainly reccomend this place for you! :)

I guess the earlier reviews are not relevant anymore. I went few times in 2009 or so and it was decent. When I went in july 2012, the chats were prepared by a Mexican guy and everything was cold as it was prepared way back and came out of refrigerator. Nothing against the mexican guy but I don’t want Indian food prepared by him the same way I don’t like Mexican food prepared by an Indian. I think it’s kind of odd for the management to let him prepare chat.

I love this place, Vegetarian Indian street food, or Chaat. They are friendly folks, they have great food. Great dessert too! : /

This is a really good chaat house. My wife has be looking for one in Houston, and Google reviews stated that they were good. so we gave them a shot. We pulled into the parking lot, and could not find it right away, because it was night time and the sign was not illuminated. After about a 5 minute search, we found it. The guy there was super nice and food was good. The place is small, but they weren’t busy at all. The pani puri was delicious, all though there were no onions in them. The sweet lasi, was perfect, not too too sweet. Price wise, 3 dishes and a lasi, 14 bucks! CHEAP!!! GOTTALOVEIT! What else can I say?

Krishna Chaat House is located next to Udipi Café, with which they are associated. The Chaat House is more of a snack place. I have been there several times and have had great food experiences. And laughably cheap. Chaat is a style of Indian street food. It is generally vegetarian — and definitely it is here — and is a mix of savory, sweet, sour, spicy along with hot and cold, crunchy and soft. It is interesting at every level, but nothing is threatening to a foreigner. For someone who thinks that all Indian food is curry, this is the starting place for them. There are almost 40 different kinds of snacks for you to try; most are between $ 3.99 and 6.99 each, but a few are less and a few are more. They are also chaat combos with a tea and dessert addition for $ 7.50. One of my favourites is a Poori(or puri) which is filled with dal(beans) and a pickled onions with yougurt and spice and then a tamarind spice added to it. It is the equivalent of Indian nachos. Another one was a potato patty topped with chick peas, raita, cilantro, sliced onions and a cilantro sauce. Mango Lassis are delicious — and are served in a proper glass if you eat there. On my several visits, the wait staff has always been so exceptionally nice. However, I have been there once when no one spoke English and I just kind of guessed and finally said«Bring me something delicious». They did and I was happy. If you are in the Hillcroft area and want a quick snack or a light dinner, Krishna Chaat is a great alternative — and, at under $ 10.00, you will feel both lighter for eating vegetarian and wealthier.
