Food is great. Calzones are definitely my favorite. Vast selection for lunch and breakfast. Oatmeal with brown sugar and raisins is perfect on a cold morning. Grits are pretty good, too.

I work at MD Anderson and have to eat here from time to time… The cafeteria offer a variety of different foods and eating options… everything from healthy«power plates» with nutritional value carefully planned out to Chick-fil-A’s friend chicken sandwiches/nuggets. I’m super health conscious and a fitness fanatic so I usually pack my own lunches but on days when I’m in a hurry or desperately I need of groceries I’ll stop down here for a quick bite… my favorite lunch item here is the chicken tortilla soup!!!

The food wouldn’t be that bad if you could eat it off of a real plate. The styrofoam container thing is just depressing and it’s unhealthy. Offer them for«to go» orders, but offer at least a harder plastic type plate — I guess having dishwashers and real utensils would eat into their profit margin, and that’s all that matters there for the most part. The food is so-so. The breakfast foods are nasty unless you stand in line for an omelet or waffle(the breakfast tacos are edible, however). The lunches can be decent. Pricing is reasonable, I suppose. The bakery items are tasty, but fattening. The salad bar offers the healthiest fare, if you don’t mind eating all the germs that land from unwashed hands and drippy noses, which is weird because there are so many patients with weakened immune systems. Employees are always friendly, thankfully.

Having had the«opportunity» to eat here several more times, I’ve been able to try more of the offerings here and I must say, things are better. Just make sure you get here early into the meal hours or all the good stuff will be gone. You can get omelets for breakfast! There is also a section by the pizza at lunchtime(maybe also dinnertime, but I don’t eat dinner here typically) that has food from«around the world», such as Vietnamese Phở and taco salad. These tend to cost $ 6.49. This is usually the best choice, especially if you’re looking for variety. Otherwise, there are the typical burgers, wings, sandwiches, and salads that you can get if you’re up for it.

My mom and I had lunch here last Thursday and thought it was pretty good for cafeteria food. The café offers pizza, chick-fil-a, the«home zone»: a comfort food section, Asian food and a fresh salad bar amongst other items. My mom and I both ordered from the comfort food section — it actually had little signs with the calorie information, which was nice. We both had the Spanish chicken(chicken breast cooked in a Spanish inspired sauce with olives and tomatoes), which tasted pretty good. I also had the rice and green beans(both just okay), and my mom had cous cous and broccoli. We shared a piece of cornbread which was excellent. With one iced tea and water our bill came out to around $ 18. This cafeteria is pretty standard for a hospital, not the best, but certainly not the worst either.

This place is the biggest cafeteria in the main building. It’s nice because there’s something for everyone. But, having eaten here as often as I have lately, I can say with certainty that the food is not that great. It’s the food you eat if you have no other choice. Not all of it is healthy, although there are healthy choices here. But, I do like the fact that they have nutrition information for most items at all the food stations. Here is what they have: A hot pizza station: there is a variety of pizzas, cooked in a large pizza oven behind the counter. The pizza is ok. Not very fresh, more like frozen dough, and canned sauce. Good for the picky child visiting the hospital. A home cooking station: choices here rotate, and oftentimes include southern favorites, such as pot roast, chicken fried steak, chicken fingers mashed potatoes, veggies, gravy, etc. I’ve tried most items, and they all suck. I avoid this station. Nothing tastes good, and everything tastes kind of grey. A grill station: a pretty popular station. Burgers, hotdogs, grilled cheese, french fries. Again, nothing good here. Burgers are pre-grilled, and are sitting in a water bath until they are grilled again before serving. Same goes for hot dogs. The water in both pans looks disgusting. Enough to change your mind about eating there. Fries are cooked fresh and are decent. You even have the option of chili and cheese for the fries and hot dogs. I’ve only tried the fries from this station. Nothing else appeals. A sandwich station: this is my favorite station. There are several bread choices, including the option of a wrap. Meats include turkey, roast beef, chicken salad, tuna salad. Variety of veggies and a few cheeses. You can even ask to warm your sandwich, panini style. Fresh, good food. But, be prepared. The line can get long because they have the world’s slowest old lady making everyone’s sandwich. A salad bar: there’s a good variety of veggies, fruits, and dressings. Typical salad bar, sold by weight. Chick-fil-a: yup, they’re in here. They don’t have everything on their menu, but do have their grilled chicken, and the reg chicken sandwich. Fries, and nuggets. Not always good, or fresh. They have a grab and go system, so the food can be sitting there for a while when it’s not busy. Misc: Lots of fountain drink, and bottled drink choices. They even have yogurts, and single serve ice-cream available for purchase. Candies and potato chips, too. Overall, it’s an ok place to kill time. The seats are comfortable, and there are tv’s in different areas of the large dining room. Also, there is a Starbucks coffee shop right behind the café, attached to the restaurant. There are many delicious desert choices there, including cheesecake, and brownies.

poor food choices. styrofoam uses for all hot items:…isn’t this place supposed to be a cancer center??? styrofoam melting can cause cancer and the food choices are horrible.
