Tiger Cried and Masaman Curry were both delicious. Grew up going to Nit Noi as a kid and haven’t been in years. My husband and I decided to come when we were in the area, despite the mediocre 2 – 3 star rating on Unilocal. So glad we did! Food was super tasty. Don’t know why their stars are so down.

I’ve only had one thing off their menu –Green Chicken Curry. I’d love to branch out and try other items but this plate is so amazing, I never stray from it! Chicken is so tender, the sauce is so creamy, full of flavor(makes my nose run –spicy)-but I muscle down the sniffles and enjoy every bite! $ 11.95 is what you’ll pay but it’s enough food for two people! My favorite the yummy hidden pineapples :))

I ordered a cucumber salad today and the tomatoes were rotten, still served to me. Way over priced food for the quality of ingredient offered. Dumplings were good though…

I’m pretty shocked by the bad reviews for this place. I think the food is great. I always get the Pad See Ewe with chicken, and it’s the best I’ve had. The cheese rolls are great too. I normally get this to go, so I can’t attest to the wait staff, but the to-go staff is always very friendly. I definitely recommend this place if you like thai food!

EPICFAIL! They messed up Pad Thai and yellow curry. Just do yourself a favor and go to Thai Gourmet!!!

Ordered beef panang which was super bland. It tasted like spicy coconut milk. Chicken pad thai was sour, and papaya salad tasted like it was tossed in Chalula hot sauce. Oh and not to mention it came out with dry chicken strips on top. That was a first. I’m upset due to the price I had to pay for poor poor food quality.

I have to write this now while I’m fired up, so i haven’t even tasted the food. I just moved near this location and have been to three other locations and have had nothing but amazing food and service. I was in disbelief as I read these reviews and was like NOWAY, this couldn’t be Nit Noi they’re speaking of. Oh, yes, it is so!!! So I call in and place an order to go. At the end she blurts out my some numbers, says«Woodway» and hangs up on me. I did not understand what she said, knew there was a time and a total in there, but she was gone before I could ask her to repeat it! So I go up there in a few minutes. She tells me the total, 16.13. I said«keep the ‘change’ and give me the bills.» She hands me my food!!! I’m like, «No, I don’t mean to keep all of that. i didn’t want you to have to count all the change out.» Unbeknownst to her, I was going to give her another dollar. I just didn’t want to count out 87 cents, just to give it right back to her. Well, when I said that and she thought she was getting 87 cents, she got all jerky and was yanking that money out of the register, had a serious attitude. So I say, «Does that upset you?» she says«I am not allowed to get upset at customer.» I said, «But you want to, right? You really are very upset right now, aren’t you?» She didn’t say a word but gave me ALL of my change, at which point I took all the bills, told her I was going to leave 1.87, but now she only gets .87. Seriously!!! I have never seen such a thing and now know why this place gets such awful reviews. I should have taken it ALL, because over 10 percent on a to go order is not below par(I was in the restaurant business for years) I know Monday is the slow day in the biz, but there was ONE table in the whole restaurant at 7:30. If I wasn’t so hungry, I would have just left the food there!!!

The customer service was horrific. It took 40 mins for a take out order of rice and dumplings. When asked about the status of the order the rude cashier, Nina, told me my order wasn’t the only one and to just wait. I will not be returning to this location and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else.

Service was actually excellent, but the food was weird… My spring rolls were NOT traditional, instead of glass noodles sprouts and strips of meat, they were filled with boiled chunks of chicken, boiled celery and cabbage. Weird. I ordered the glass noodle salad and that was strange. The Thai sauce on it was fantastic, but it was a hot salad with warm cucumbers. Not at all what I was expecting

Well, this place is very close to my office and had been on my list to try for a while now. I will NEVER go back. The service was verrrry slow, and it was not even busy. We started with the soft spring rolls with tofu and they were awful. The roll was very sloppy, there was no basil or fresh herb, and the peanut dipping sauce was swimming in grease. My friend ate hers but, I couldn’t even finish mine. For our meal, my friend got the green curry. She thought it was OK. The curry is very soup-y, but there were a ton of veggies, which looked fresh. I ordered the Putt Thai(their version of Pad Thai). It was enormous, not a bad thing, but it looked like it had been sitting in a pot somewhere waiting for someone to order it. The taste was weird, I can’t figure out how to describe it, but I did not like it. I atemaybe ¼ of it and gave it to my friend to take home, maybe her husband will like it. Overall, very disappointing experience. I was hoping to add another Thai place to my repertoire of choice, but this one is not it.

Great for lunch. Food seems much healthier, and feels as such. Staff are great.

Quality has dropped over the past few years. Only average quality now with above average prices. Not a good combination and unless things change I suspect they will be gone within the next few years. To many other choices in Asian food in the Houston area. Basic dishes like pad thai and curry dishes are fine.

My daughter and I went yesterday because I was craving green curry. My fav go to place in Houston for green curry is Thai Cottage, but we were closer to Nit Noi. I was extremely disappointed in the green curry. The chicken had a weird taste to it, and the curry was bland with a flour like taste. After eating a small bit, I packed the rest up in a go box. After I got home, I began to have a bad headache which usually means I ate MSG. I took my migraine med and felt better. I cannot eat the leftovers… I thought Thai food did not have MSG in it. Anyway, for curry, go to Thai Cottage. Skip Nit Noi… Not good food.

Only ok for me. The atmosphere is casual and a bit dark, even in the daylight. If it were a bit more light I believe we would have been a bit more comfortable being one of the only 2 tables in there for an early Sunday dinner. The food didn’t really have a lot of taste and although I am no culinary expert of Thai food, the dishes here seemed more Americanized. We tried the Pad Thai and when in came it was served with angel hair pasta rather than the flat rice noodles that I have had elsewhere. If the taste had a bit more strong — kind of bland — I don’t think that we would have even noticed anything like this. And the portions were out of control. The two of us could have easily shared one plate and had enough for 1, maybe 2, small lunches the next day. Instead, we filled two of their to-go containers up to almost full and since the meal wasn’t that great, it took us a while to finish that up. Too bad, because a good Thai restaurant close to home is always good to have.

I’ve been to their sister restaurants, but this has to be the worst! Location: strip mall Mediocre food, poor service, and pricey. Not a good combination. The soups were lukewarm. The salad with chicken tasted like dry cardboard on top of a few pieces of lettuce, on top of vinegar. The shrimp special — three small burnt skewers with very small shrimp, on top of rice that has the veggies mixed in. We came at 12:10. Didn’t get our meal until 1245. We had to ask 2 different waiters. We also had to ask 2 different waiters for our check Terrible! Didn’t even taste like Thai. My friend and I were both hungry after. $ 35 for two. Go to Thai Restaurant on Fountainview/Westheimer instead!

I like the tiger cried. It’s pretty awesome. Love the sauces if you like spicy… Try it! I was just hoping that the beef would be more tender!!! But the cucumber salad it was kinda weird… I love cucumber salad but not from this restaurant… The presentation of the salad was bad and Unthoughtful… but the waiter’s service was nice

The one and only time I went there the water and the food I ordered had a strange taste of wet dog. I’ve never experienced anything like this, and it might have just been their water filtration system that day. It looks like other people had some good experiences so it’s probably a good place. just not on the day that I went, I guess. That experience basically made me write off this place.

Nit Noi is relatively close to my office and on the short-list for work lunches. Good features: * Never crowded and ample parking, unlike most lunch options in this part of town * Friendly(if not very quick or helpful) service * Varied menu that can accommodate most people * Serviceable food(can’t compete with Asia Market or Nidda, but tasty enough) * Huge portions(you’ll take the second half home unless you are a human vacuum) Not so good features: * S-l-o-w service, and entrees may come out 10 – 15 minutes apart with no explanation * Long, confusing menu without clear descriptions. For example, the menu doesn’t list which veggies come in the different curries, and dishes like«triple flavor tofu» have no description at all. * Waitstaff either does not know what is in the dishes or does not speak sufficient English to explain the menu. * Prices are pretty high for lunch – I’d prefer half the portion for half the price.

I remember their original location in the Rice Village(long gone) and Alice the owner greeting our table with a smile, so this review is probably very very biased and based on nostalgia. Can’t go wrong with their No.5 Putt Thai. Helpings are large and can split orders between two for most people. A close second is their No.7 clear rice noodle dish. Also, their spring rolls are very fresh and crisp. If you’re a peanut sauce connoisseur you’ll be very pleased with that starter. Service I’ll admit is not ideal. We ordered a couple starters and then noodle dishes to follow and instead got it all in a rush to our table. Aside from that, water glasses were refilled and they were prompt to ask us if we wanted a new glass of wine when they were getting low. Interior is low lit and decorated with bamboo and Thai countryside murals. A good quiet spot for a heaping pile of noodles and a friend or date.
