I like Nu Café in Chinatown better, mostly because they give you way more shaved ice and the employees are really great. We ordered a «mountain» of the mango sorbet with lots of add-ins and it cost almost $ 10, but when we got our order I did a double take and asked the employees if we had actually received a «hill» because it was so small. They said it was the right size, but I have ordered the mountain at the Chinatown location many times and received almost double of what was given to us(plus their awesome employees always give us extra condensed milk for free!). The flavor and toppings all tasted great, but was really disappointed in how little shaved ice we got for a group of 4 people.

Nu Ice is delicious: light, not too sweet, and fresh. The variety topping options permit you to stay heathy(almonds, fresh fruit, etc.) or go all-in on a sugary, decadent treat(candy, marshmallows, etc.). Watch the ice as it is shaved from the block – it’s mesmerizing!

BUYERBEWARE!!! NuIce contacts Unilocal to have your reviews removed if they are negative so you know what, i will give you the« UnilocalFRIENDLY» review =tastes nothing like what a true shaved ice should taste like =negative reviews result in your review being removed =will follow your profile to see what you have rated their competition and then comment on it =cashier has a major attitude problem =toppings area was EXTREMELY dirty =condensed milk was not refrigerated =the mango icee is extremely extremely bland but they say that is the case because it is «healthy» =i didn’t know mangoes were soooo bland tasting… who wouldve thought… also will be making sure everyone is aware of the bully manager at NuIce and WILLNEVEREVERSAYANYTHINGPOSITIVE about this place Capiche? :)

Oh happy taste buds! Thankfully now that I’ve discovered this place — I won’t have to aways drive out to Chinatown to get fabulous shaved ice! Reading my friend’s Unilocal review I had to go with the Carmel Sea Salt(hill size– that’s small but still rather large $ 5). I had almonds and oh so yummy honey boba, topped it off with caramel. Heaven I tell you heaven! They have several flavors of shaved ice to choose from, all are listed on the board when you walk in and there is also a form to fill out where you check off exactly what you want. You get one topping for free, the rest are an extra charge. Check in on Unilocal and you can get a free topping, you better believe I did! It was my first time here and the staff members were very helpful explaining how to select items. Besides shaved ice they have milk teas and several drink items to choose from.

This place is a bit of a drive especially with the traffic. Came here with my sister the other day for some dessert and it was amazing. A little pricey but worth every dime. A small serving of ice cream isn’t so small and is more on the big side and it came with toppings and fruit. I will definitely be coming by again to try out their boba drinks. Their boba drinks seem more unique than the standard ones I’ve seen.

I appreciate their follow up on my review. Since, someone from the business explained me very well about the reason I had to wait pretty long to get my Ice Cream. I like the kind of service they are providing and valuing their customer. Great job!

Love their desserts! Its like flavored ice that they shave and then add toppings! I always get their green tea shaved ice with red bean, mochi, and condensed milk! Ive tried other flavors too like strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla and they are all good. Portions sizes are generous as well!

Best shaved ice I’ve ever had! A friend and I got the mountain size green tea ice with watermelon, flan pudding, and grass jelly. The mountain is suppose to feed 10 people or so, but us 2 fatties devoured that thing by ourselves. Can’t wait to come back and try other things off their menu.

I must say I was pleasantly surprised to have my slushy style drink not freeze my boba before I could finish it. Most places are so frozen the boba become hard as a rock by the time I finish my drink. Yes, I drink slowly. The flavors were really good and fun combinations. You can of course always make your own. I had the Bora Bora with tropical fruits in it. They have Belly rewards so I was happy to start racking up points there :)

Ok! Are people getting paid to write reviews?!” THISPLACESUCKS. NOCUSTOMERSERVICE. MYFIRSTANDLASTEXPERIENCEAFTERDRIVING40MINSTOCHECKITOUT. ARRIVED30MINSBEFORECLOSING. «What is it with youngsters closing sh! t down before the damn business actually closes. You close at 1130 on Sat. Walked in to a filthy establishment with Nat’s on plates that were left on table. Ectremly small/narrow space. All 3 employees«Asian, Latin boy, white/Latin girl black hair» hanging behind counter. After 7 mins waiting, the Latin/white skinny girl decides to «help» us but after she was done texting of course. She greeted us with not«how are you?» But wrather«uh were about to close in 22 mins» um like ok that’s more than enough time. «She was really disturbed and was even getting into a discussion with the Asian gir, she also says«did you tell them we close in 22 mins. All while I was standing not to far(not much space to) over heard everything they said. I told them I wanted my shaved ice on plate not in a stupid paper cup. I came for an experience. So they were arguing wrather to give me a plate or cup so when I heard that I told them you can just give my money and I’ll be on my way and they refused and the smart @$$ Asian hands me a cup. Never comming back. Wasn’t worth it. Especially you get less in a cup than a plate. No where clean to sit, we actually buffed a table for them so we could try to enjoy it. People linger here inside and bunch of punks/groups hanging in the parking lot. Tried contacting the owner several times and no luck.

This was such an awesome experience I’ve been wanting to try shaved ice for a while and I’ve had this place in my bookmarks for a long time. so a co-worker and I decided to come in and try to give it a try. It was delicious I actually ordered based on the employees favorite. I got a small and it was huge so I can only imagine how much a large one will be. The sgave ice was an inexpensive and delicious! I mean it was like somewhere between frozen yogurt, gelato, light ice and heaven! I really loved it I will be coming back to this place. Everything was amazing I want to try every flavor. Plus they have very good customer service.

This place is the real deal-I’m talking legit straight out of Taiwan snow ice! They use their own recipe and make the snow ice blocks on location(a process that entails 10 hours of committed time). For those of you who haven’t tried Taiwanese style snow ice you are missing out! It’s fluffy, light and the flavors and toppings are da ! You fill in the order forms attached to the clipboards: 1. Choose your size(you know you want the big one) 2. Choose your flavor(green tea, milk tea, and taro are the best) 3. Choose your toppings(rainbow lychee, mocha, honey boba, fruits… you get the picture) 4. Choose your drizzle(condensed milk & mango) 5. Enjoy

I love coming to this place! The service is great and the drinks and Nu ice is always yummy! I highly suggest you at least stop by and have some ice cream. It’s note worthy! This place is still the best! I still come at least once a week.

Five stars. This place is great so during peak hours there will be a line. We ordered the number one shaved iced vanilla something combo with chocolate and strawberries. Amazing! So unique and so cool to watch the machine do its thing! It shaves off a frozen chunk of what is basically a sweet milky block. We also had a vanilla bean milk tea which was sweet and perfect with a hint of cappuccino. Loved the tapioca. And a honey green tea with tapioca which my husband enjoyed. I’d recommend this place if you want to try something new! Be prepared for a line and limited parking. The lot does have a security guard and bathrooms are clean. Staff: accommodating, kind and quick!

I absolutely love their shaved ice but this visit, I just came for drinks for the ride back to DFW. The staff suggested we try their Matcha Mochi cookies but I said no at first. Once we got our drink order in(Milk Tea & Thai Tea) — I wandered over to check out the green cookies and decided I needed to try some! Wow! They were so good — I guess as a baker, I assumed mochi would melt in the oven while baking but nope! The cookies were really good! We’ll have to stop by for some more when we’re in town again!

We normally go to the Nu Café in Bellaire but we were around this area and I can say they taste exactly the same. The decorations even look similar. Call me weird but I always get the same thing when I go here. This time I veered off(bc of *ahem* my bf) and got the mountain instead of the hill because he wanted strawberries as a topping. My go-to order is a hill of mango ice with mango toppings and condensed milk(extra, extra condensed milk) drizzled errrrwhere. To me its a fail proof order. I ain’t that hard to please, right? hehe **Next time, I will be going out of my comfort zone and ordering their honey boba. I must taste this since I’ve had Honeybee in Bellaire.

This place is pretty bomb but whoever thought of the plate sizing needs to think again. It’s hard to dig into the snow ice and not have it topple over off the damn plate because the plate is so damn small. Please, just get bigger plates. If you’re worried that it’ll make the portioning smaller… too bad, be true to your customers. Other than that, man is the shaved ice on point. Very soft. Very fluffy. Tastes were on point. Very comparable to the real thing in Taipei. Toppings however.well. I wasn’t too much of a fan. Alright, let’s just say that their mochi sucks. Hard, dry, struggle to chew. Perhaps they left it out exposed to the air too long or something. Honestly, I would just get a fruit as a side topping and call it a day. The drizzles are good though. Coconut ice and mango syrup is what I got and that was fantastic. Price will be steep if you stack on toppings. Honestly, next time I think I’ll just get a mountain with no toppings. The ice is already good already. Ice with a drizzle is just perfect. 8/10, would come again.

We decided to try this place on our latest visit to Houston. It’s on the same shopping strip as Juice Box on the newer side of Bellaire. So plus for location. Unfortunately parking took a while, it’s a very popular location. We came on a Saturday afternoon. Their specialty drinks menu caught my eye and I got the half and half– milk tea with flan/pudding with boba. So delicious! Not overly sweet and any drink with pudding is always good. My boyfriend got the strawberry specialty drink and loved that too. We love drinks that aren’t overly sweet. These are a light but filling dessert for anyone with a sweet tooth. Our order came out promptly and the store was clean. So five stars for Nu Ice!

So this was something different. Seems like they overly freeze ice cream in round blocks, stick it in a machine which spits out layers of the ice cream like a deli meat slicer. You get a huge mound of ice cream that stays pretty frozen in the middle. I can’t saw that the ice cream flavor is anything special though. I think it was only good with the flavored syrup and toppings they put on top. The good thing is the little bit of topping that are on the mound of ice cream make it pretty darn good. I can’t say this is drop dead amazing or anything, but definitely different and worth a try if you want something cool to try in the usual 100 degree Houston heat. What I DONOT suggest is going on a Friday around 8. Parking was a complete disaster and you can only imagine the people who are driving around. Doesn’t seem like half of them have a drivers license or care that they are about to hit your car. Definitely worth a try but I don’t know if I’ll be back. Might be though if I am in the area.
