Very rarely do we need to shop at Payless — it’s more of a guilty pleasure where we go to get something chic or cute or passably fashionable dirt cheap with their bogo sales. This Payless at the corner of South Post Oak Rd and Willowbend — next to a cute little torta shop that I must check out next time — is the only one where the staff actually help you. Sad to say, this is a rare quality in Payless, where the usual assortment of teens and teenyboppers are too busy texting, sexting, and taking smoke breaks by the mall trash compactor.
Service here is fast and easy — in much the manner I enjoy my co-​eds when I go back for alumni visits to Aggieland — and they help you with suggestions and actually knowing — gasp — knowing their product. Be forewarned, there is mucho espanol spoken at this location, and that helps.
When all you call for is Prado, not Prada, this is the place, and it’s located in a place where no one else will see you enter or exit because chances are, no one you know will shop there.
