The outside looks a bit shady — I was skeptical about this place when I was in the parking lot. Once I entered the place, it’s this classic/authentic Korean restaurant look. The food is authentic and delicious. I am not Korean, but given my dining experience with my Korean friends, I am confident that it’s close enough… Also, I saw a bunch of Korean customers there every time — especially seniors… The price is more than what you normally pay in a «tofu house» for sure. But it’s worth it. This is one of my go-to places when I need to bring anyone to try Korean cuisine or when I am craving Korean food.

This is my go to place in Houston for good, authentic Korean bbq; especially when my mom doesn’t want to cook. I recommend getting the seasoned galbi; it’s seasoned perfectly and the meat cooks really well. I also get the seafood pancake sometimes, it’s not the best I’ve ever had but it’s ok. While I definitely recommend this place for their kbbq, I feel like the other dishes I’ve had here were very mediocre. It’s average compared to other restaurants and nothing to get hyped over. Service time is not bad and the employees/servers will make sure you always have enough side dishes and your meat gets cooked well. They will also sometimes give you extra rice punch if you ask nicely. The setting is really nice too, the tables are in cubbies so you can eat and socialize a lot more privately without hearing other people’s conversations. Price point is pretty average for a Korean bbq restaurant, either way though I think it’s worth it.

A friend who’s had Korean food in Korea and as a result has high standards for Korean food says that finally she ate at a good Korean restaurant in Houston after I took her here!

Absolutely awesome experience after the remodel, the new restaurant is divided into little cubicles and larger ones with doors so you have absolute privacy. The menu is really extensive, everything we ordered was on point and best of all the waitresses came back to check on us and refilled out banchan without us even asking. My new fav Korean restaurant!

I will try to keep this review simple and short. I used to like this place BEFORE the owner changed! After the owner changed the food menu and prices changed a lot in a bad way. Everything is overpriced for the quality of the food. I think they are trying to change the scene by adding BBQ grills to the table. I would only come here to drink or have their Spicy chicken stew(dak-dori-tang). I give them props for having good chicken stew and Tofu Kimchi pork stir fry(Jeyook). My advice to people, don’t order the Fish soup with egg(ahl-jjigae) at this place. It’s not fresh so don’t waste your money on this soup. For service, I give them a 4⁄5. As for the food and quality, I give them a 2⁄5. This place is not crowded for a reason.

Decent Korean food, friendly service. Restaurant may be called Tree Garden now? Extensive menu so you will probably find something you like to eat. I didn’t think the BBQ was all that. Also got clear noodle, nothing special. Friendly service though, and not crowded, which is good.

To be simple… Service: ok not bad but servers should remember what they wrote down. And only one server should take the order to avoid mistakes. Food: SUCKS! Some are undercooked some are overcooked«burnt» and some are spoiled have strange smell. Conclusion: I am 100% Korean I was born there my mom is a chef so I know how Korean foods supposed to taste!

Great foods and such a wonderful service. I would definitely come back to this place. Very clean and new. The Kimchi soup was yummy. They also have variety of hotpot.

After going to Korea, I’ve been looking for an authentic Korean restaurant in Houston. I think I’ve found it in Pocha Tree! Myung Dong is good and all, but the wait time gets too ridiculous sometimes. My friend and I came on a Saturday night, and the restaurant had a ton of open tables. Each table is separated by small, private booths. Our table had the call button typical of restaurants in Korea, which makes it really convenient to call your waiter over. The menu looked like it had a lot of authentic Korean dishes, not just bibimbap and soondubu jigae. We decided to order the dakdoritang(chicken stew), which was $ 32 for two people. It took 30 minutes for them to prepare the stew and bring it out, but when they did, my jaw dropped. It was a HUGE plate of chicken, potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, and bell peppers in a spicy stew, and they placed it on our tabletop grill to keep it hot as we were eating. I think there was a whole chicken in this dish! The banchan and rice(purple rice, yay!) came at the same time as the stew. I wish they brought it out sooner, but whatevs. Everything tasted great, and we had a ton of leftover stew to take home. The service was also great and really friendly. I will be back for sure!

The place is kind of hard to find but I think the name changed to Tree Garden. It’s by far my favorite Korean restaurant in Houston so far. The service is really friendly and the food is really good. I had their tteokbeokki and I highly recommend it. I asked the waiter if we could adjust the spiciness level to it as well and they did it which is really nice because I’ve never seen any other Korean restaurant do it. One really nice thing is that each booth is fairly sectioned out so that you get a lot of privacy

I’ve finally found a Korean restaurant in Houston worthy of my spoiled Korean tastebuds! Since my mom cooks the best Korean food, I’m always disappointed when I try Korean restaurants in Houston so I rarely go to them. I’ve tried pretty much every Korean restaurant down Long Point, and I’ve also tried Myung Dong(which is popular on Unilocal and probably runner up for my favorite korean restaurant). I came here last night per my mom’s suggestion(she’s even pickier than me so I knew it would be good!). The exterior is very nondescript and looks a little shady. All it has is a sign that says«Soju bar» with the korean characters for«Pocha Tree» underneath, and all the windows are tinted. However, when you walk inside, it is the complete opposite – the atmosphere is bright, trendy, and clean! The menu was very extensive – starting with appetizers(all the typical korean appetizers that go well with soaking up all the soju), bbq, bibimbap, stews, soups, noodles, etc. It was so hard to choose what I wanted to eat! We ended up getting the ojingo bokkum(SPICY squid stir fry with onions, carrots, cabbage, and jalapenos), the daegu tang(mild cod fish stew), and the homemade soondae(korean blood sausage). Everything was delicious! My favorite was probably the squid – they definitely didn’t skimp on the squid, and it was flavorful and spicy without being salty. All the portions were HUGE and definitely worth the price. They serve the purple rice with beans here(YUM!) and the(unlimited) side dishes were so FRESH and perfectly seasoned(you get two types of kimchi, bean sprouts, fish cake, acorn jelly, and broccoli). Even after stuffing myself silly, we had tons of leftovers. You also get slices of watermelon to cleanse your palate at the end! Another plus: they are open late(until 2am M-Sat, and 10pm on Sun). It’s also a pretty large restaurant so it’d be great for groups! Service was average(my water was never re-filled) but they have the button you can push for service anytime. I can’t wait to come back and try everything else!

Kinda hidden right off of Long Point and Blalock. Sign outside reads«Soju Bar». The interior was dark and the crowd was modest. Prices were reasonable and the quantity and flavor was good. Supposedly has good Soon Dae which we ordered and it tasted homemade. Seafood Kal Gook Soo was good, not too salty or spicy. also tried some Mackeral Stir fry, Ojingo Bokkum(Squid stir fry) and Goat stew. All were delicious. Service wad friendly and prompt. Will probably be back in the future to try other stuff!
