management is horrible! If you add anything to the your sandwich they charge you more. I have no problem paying extra, but it’s not posted nowhere.

I’ve been working near here for so long now and… Why did I not try this place sooner?!? It’s so good! I pass by it everyday! I ordered the Chicken Milano and it totally rocked my taste buds. Comes in this grilled pita-like-bread that’s really thick with awesome texture, and the basil leaves they put in were amazing. I will need to ask them to put extra basil next time bc the aroma was amazing. Also FYI the chicken Milano comes as two sandwiches wrapped inside aluminum foil… I thought it was one giant big sandwich… But it’s not… it’s two stacked on top of each other, and I didn’t realize until half way through. So don’t make the same mistake as me. Oh, I also ordered the SW chicken tortilla soup. It was more of a thick stew and not a soup, but still delicious. When you go in, it’s sort of subway style… you order what you want, move down the line and grab your drinks, pay at the register, then wait for your order to come out if it hasn’t already come out yet(usually you have to wait a little longer for some of the grilled/specialty sandwiches). Btw, they have the best pickles I’ve ever had in my life. They weren’t soggy with extra green juice dripping off of it like at most sandwich places. It’s super crispy, not too sour, and just the perfect size. Very clean. Although it’s a little pricier here, this place is the perfect place to stop by on a lunch break from the hospitals if you work around here. There’s plenty of indoor seating, as well as outdoor seating.

Walked in on a Monday at 8 and walked out to check the door and hours of opp. Place was open but empty of customers and food. Minimal grab and go bakery options. 2 flavors each of muffins and bagels. The rest was made to order. Toasted my own bagel and sat down. I remained the only customer in a busy medical center — very weird. Bagel was cheap and although not what I wanted, tasted pretty good. But you can’t really mess up a cinnamon raisin bagel too much.

I work in the area and I was in a hurry, so I grabbed a ready-to-go salad. It was a green salad with chicken and strawberries. It looked fresh. When it came time to eat it, though… The chicken was dry and tasted like cardboard. I threw away the salad and went hungry. And … It was not a cheap salad, either. I won’t be back.

Chicken salad sandwich was good except the bread(sourdough), it tasted stale. Tip: get croissant bread instead! Yum

Decent sandwiches and salads although I prefer au bon pain. The tomato basil soup, however, is quite good. Can be kinda slow during lunch hours, but definitely a reasonable option if near Hermann.

I had a very good experience today at the Rising Roll. I’m getting sick of eating hospital food and my own cooking, so today I decided to be bad and ventured down to this place for lunch. The curry chicken salad sandwich was recommended by a friend, and it was a great choice. A little bit of spice was just what I was hoping for. The guy who served me put a generous serving of chicken salad, and some lettuce and tomato. The bread used is a croissant, and it had a nice buttery taste! I was very pleased with that sandwich, and hours later I’m still pleasantly full. I got the pasta salad for a side, but it was only a few bites worth of food, which I was sad about because it tasted pretty good. With a small fountain drink, it all cost $ 10. I was hoping for it to be a little cheaper, but oh well. Service was incredibly fast, which is definitely rare in the medical center at noon. Both the guy who made my sandwich and the girl who rang me up were very pleasant and cheerful, which made me happy after a frustrating morning at work. There is plenty of indoor seating, and it’s been pretty clean every time I’ve been in there as far as I can tell. There are also a few tables outside, and at least 1(if not all) have umbrellas for some shade. The only other times I’ve been here was to pick up a muffin in the morning for breakfast and to a pick up a cookie one afternoon to reward myself for something. :) Their muffins and chocolate chip cookies are actually really good! Next time I feel like buying lunch instead of packing, I’ll definitely come here again.

First time here and had the chicken durango… It was blah. From what I can tell so far it looks like a high priced subway and doesn’t taste any better. Cons: high priced, sandwich lacked flavor, boring menu. Pros: speedy service I definitely will NOT come back.

Food is actually good. Not too greasy. Another alternative to hospital food in the medical center. It’s a bit pricey. An average meal with a drink is about $ 9-$ 10. It’s a gourmet sandwich place so you have various bread selection from multigrain to honey wheat. Your meal also comes with a side such as coleslaw but the portion is rather small. Wish they had a lunch special to keep everything below $ 8.

Closest eatery than the vending machines here at my school. It’s ok.

Rising Roll is definitely not a place I go out of my way to eat at. The sandwhiches are pretty good, but the«sides» are pretty small and the prices are pretty steep, probably because of their location in the med center. The bread is fresh, which is nice. But they close at 3:30, so if you get tied up in any way, you’re probably going to have to find something else. Really, it’s nothing too special, and if you can, I suggest something else. For people not affiliated with the med center, it’s easy to get to, isn’t hospital food, and offers a wide selection of things they’re familiar with quickly. For those of us who work here in the med center, it’s not really worth it, especially with the lines during peak hours.

Good alternative to hospital food in the medical center. I’ve actually never ordered from the lunch menu because I really like their breakfast tacos. It’s a little pricey for a breakfast taco, but the portion is big. The problem is that it’s not freshly made. I’ve seen them take the taco out of the fridge and reheat it in the microwave, so nothing can really taste that wonderful after seeing that. I’ll come here again if I’m really desperate.

The Rising Roll is just what it looks like — a sandwich place. And because it’s in the med center, they overcharge for the sandwiches. It’s edible if you’re hungry, but mediocre at best. I’ve had both the french dip sandwich and the crab cake sandwich, and the food itself probably gets three stars, but the price brings it down to about two and a half stars.

Working in the medical center for 2 years now the same food does get boring. So when I saw one of my coworkers eating something that looked completely different I was like where did you get that?! She said Rising Roll it’s by Hermann. So my walk began… the place is only open for breakfast and dinner and closes at 3:30 pm. I took an earlier lunch at 2 pm. I looked over the menu and basically they have different types of sandwiches. Your bread choices are french, multi-grain, sourdough, asiago basil, soft whole white wheat, sun dried tomato wrap, or croissant. Then you can have a gourmet, garden, or hot sandwich. They also offer paninis, salads, salad platters, and soups. I had the Soupwich combo with the Key West Crab Cake which is baked crab cake topped with cheddar cheese and mayo. I had the chicken chili as my soup. The crab cake wasn’t anything special but it wasn’t bad either. The bread I chose with the basic french which was really good. Overall, it was a bit pricey, 9 bucks for soup and sandwich but I think I’ll be back for more just because it’s something different.

Rising Roll is just blah to me. They have all these different combinations of sandwiches, but it seems like they’re all the same except for one thing changed(meat, or sauce, or presence of lettuce). I don’t even know why they have pre-made sandwich choices, because it seems like everyone(including the employees) takes the Subway approach where you get to pick whats on your sandwich, regardless of what the menu says it has on it. You get the sandwich+side for $ 8ish, and the side choices are potato salad, pasta salad, or chips. I don’t really like either of the salad options. The last time I only ate half my sandwich, and when I went to throw the other half away the manager ran over with a to-go container and made me take it. Oh, thanks, now it will just get thrown away in my office! They also have pre-made salads available in a cold case, and salads you can order as well. Soups are on the menu, but I’ve never seen them being ordered or eaten. Sweet Leaf is present though, yippee! They have this special deal on M/W where UTHSC-H employees get double punches on their frequent eater/puncher card. I guess Rising Roll stays in business from catering the whole TMC, and it’s location in the UT Professional Building. But Au Bön Pain is not too far away, just go there for better tasting food!
