Snowflake Donuts and Ice Cream

I am assuming this is a franchise due to the fact that there are a bunch of Snowflake Donuts listed on Unilocal.
This morning we had to stop for breakfast due to a day that was chock full o’errands. One of those errands was checking on a bus we are having painted by a total jackass off S Post Oak. There will be a review of this joker in the near future, but it is SO horrible that I am having a great deal of problems keeping the review PG-​13.
Moving on. We stopped for a kolache at Snowflake Donuts this morning because it was on the way to the painters. We walk in and are greeted by a pleasant looking, incredibly clean donut store. It immediately reminded me of B&B Donuts on Westheimer, of which I am a HUGE fan. We walked up to the counter and were made welcome by an adorable 2 year old boy who’s Dad owns the place. He kept my 6 year old company the whole time. I love a family business.
My husband and I both had a «kolache» with sausage, cheese, and jalapeño. The dough was more like a croissant than a kolache though. It was fantastic and really quite spicy. It probably had 98 grams of fat, but it was worth it. Super good. I also had an apple fritter (only half of it though, the kolache was huge) which was also quite good.
The best part of the whole experience was the owner though. We were discussing the fact that he has another kid who wasn’t there because he was, in fact, in Cambodia.
I have a bizarre interest in Cambodia, so the rest of our breakfast was spent in conversation with him about growing up in Cambodia, the repopulation of the cities, moving to the states, etc… He was so kind, polite, and informative. I’d go back to this place over and over, not just for the tasty breakfast, but to learn more and more about this guy and his life. It was really intriguing.
