Tapester’s is sooo good! We have been going there since the beginning. The lamb burger is great. Get a side of chili cheese fries. We decided to try the new brunch menu. I had huevos rancheros! Tons of food and it was delicious! They also gave me fresh tortillas and a top off to my mimosa. Definitely coming back to try more!

They say the third time is a charm, but with Tapester’s every time is a charm! Friendly and helpful staff. Family owned. The restaurant is very clean & in a good location. The food is fabulous! We have been 3 times so far & brought friends who have all loved it. Between all of us we have had burgers, salad & tortilla soup & not a bad bite to be had. I would give it a higher than a 5 star rating as possible!

We went for breakfast… Food was expensive for the portion and quality. My husband got the biscuits and gravy and he said hotel continental breakfasts have better. My latte didn’t come until close to the end of our meal and was put in a to-go cup. 2 stars for the friendly service…

I came here for brunch one morning. This is a family owned restaurant. It’s not a good place for brunch, but would be okay for breakfast if you had kids. It wasn’t busy. The flavors in the pancakes were off. I had the fried chicken and biscuit sandwich. The portion size was huge. The biscuit had no flavor and was dry. The chicken was greasy and lacked seasoning. The hash Browns were greasy. I didn’t finish all of it because it was so gross.

the lamb burger is actually a gyro on a bun it was a good gyro but the bun was thick, dense & tough it would have been much better as a regular gyro on a folded pita the homemade potato chips were excellent I sure hope the owner &the staff read these reviews there are some excellent, object reviews to their new restaurant I’m a 3rd generation native from Bellaire/Meyerland(grandparents 1935) BellaireHS grad and am really rooting for this restaurant to be successful

It was all great until we found a hair in our food which was pretty disappointing since the food was actually really great. I asked for the veggie burger and they actually had to make a fresh batch of them. Still very disappointed by the hair though.

Cute little place on Beechnut in a small little complex with plenty of parking. The restaurant is well decorated with nice furniture and outdoor patio space and large windows. You order at the counter and the food is served to your table. Came here for Sunday brunch. They had a pretty good selection of breakfast favorites from French toast to chicken and waffles to rancheros. I had the fried chicken and biscuit sandwich and it was huge!!! Definitely good size to share cause the thing was as large as my head. The fried chicken is large and super crispy. But lacked seasoning. It could’ve used some salt. It was on two large biscuits which ended up being too much bread but the biscuit was good — a little dry. It was topped with gravy and a fried egg. The egg needed to be more runny. Overall the chicken was moist and crispy and done right — if it was seasoned better it would’ve been perfect. The hash browns served with the dish was crispy and delicious! I also had an order of kids size French toast because I couldn’t decide what I wanted. It was served with a blueberry cream cheese compote, which was different but not my favorite. My friends liked it though. The French toast was good and fluffy. We also tried the stickee bun, which wasn’t overly sweet but tasted more like a muffin than a traditional sticky bun. Good flavors and topped with frosting, sticky sauce and pecans! They also serve frozen mimosas topped with a bit of port by the glass or by the carafe! Because of the location, it wasn’t too busy on a Sunday around noon. Nice place for breakfast/brunch! The burgers look good as well and the staff is friendly and service is wonderful!

I came in with a group of six. We ordered a couple of burgers, chicken sandwiches, and two kids plates. The burgers were well seasoned, and the fried chicken sandwich was well cooked with a flaky breading Everyone enjoyed the food but the service was a little slow.

The restaurant was recommended by one of my friends who wanted to try it out, but not alone. Good thing my cousin wanted to get lunch before heading back home to SA. That made a good excuse for us three to try out the place. Located across from Houston Police Department’s Southwest police station, and Beth Yeshurun, this former convenience store-converted-to-restaurant is a nice addition to the neighborhood. The staff is very nice; it’s order over the counter, but they serve your order. The ambiance is quiet. There are TVs showing various programs(today was college football on one, and Nickelodeon in the back), but the volume was set very low that a conversation can be heard. I had the lamb burger with a side of fries. The lamb burger was served with spinach, tomato, onions, and a feta cheese spread. Very good. The fries were not crisp, but alright in taste, nonetheless. Maybe I’ll come back and try out their breakfast the next time.

No doubt the owner of this place is not paying attention. Move along nothing to see here, I give this place less than 6 months before its closed. I am looking forward to trying what the new restaurant will offer since the location is nearby.

The first time I entered this place I questioned if this was going to be a good fit for my twin 4 yr olds. Sunday brunch anywhere can be tricky especially if the food is so so. The twins and adults are every bit of the food! Delicious!!! Chicken n Waffles were awesome and the Patty melt burger amazing, add the egg. Second time was on a Thursday. Had the Archer and got extra gravy… Do it! The biscuit was crunchy and the gravy savory. The pancakes remind me of the Deep South. Loved every bite! Definitely recommend this place

Was really excited to make this place a regular hangout for my family but the breakfast just wasn’t worth coming back for. We ordered the sticky bun, kolache, breakfast taco, and chicken and waffles. Won’t be ordering any of those again. The coffee was decent. And the staff was super friendly and accommodating to our family.

I wanted so bad to love this place. I live nearby and run by here often so we decided to stop in for date night. I love supporting family owned/operated businesses and am always down for a delicious burger. We came in about 6:30 — 6:45 on a Wednesday and were the only people in the place. After 7:00pm(or so) others did start to come in. [AMBIANCE]: I love the atmosphere. It’s at the end of a strip center, with ample parking, and it’s completely re-done inside. Very simple, slick and clean. There’s a drive-thru for you breakfast taco fiends. [SERVICE]: Very friendly. We were greeted when we came in. The waitress was patient and even offered suggestions. The food comes to a window and they bring it to your table. Drinks, napkins, salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard, et al. are all self-serve near the drink station. [FOOD]: My wife and I both fancy ourselves burger connoisseurs.(Lankford Grocery, Christian’s Tailgate, Petrol Station, Stanton City, Bernie’s Burger Bus, Hubcap, etc.) so we feel prepared to objectively review anything burger-related. My wife got the Tapester’s Lucy(Blue cheese stuffed, bacon topped w/a balsamic cole slaw) and thought the burger was pretty good. She commented on the inventive approach to their burger menu and I’ll second that observation. FYI: The blue cheese was *not* overwhelming. She rated her burger a 3 of 5. I got the Tapester’s(STB) Famous #2(i.e. two patties). It comes with the following: fresh ground beef, seasoned 1⁄3 lb with standard set-up = lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, mustard and onions. Of course, I added bacon and a fried egg for $ 1/each. The waitress did ask me what kind of egg, which I thought was odd.(She might’ve meant how did I wanted it fried — I’m not sure. It was a confusing exchange.) The egg was fried, but it was also over hard… I was little disappointed I didn’t have the runny yolk, but not docking points for a misunderstanding. BTW, you *should* ask how you want your burger cooked too. When the burger came out it was very substantial. You get plenty of(shoestring) fries too. The burger was a good burger. It was seasoned nicely, cooked well and quite juicy. I would’ve preferred crispy bacon, and for me(along with others) that bun left a lot to be desired. It was bland and it crumbled. You put that same burger on a better bun or some ciabatta bread and we’re in business, but this just doesn’t stand up against other ‘best burgers’ in the city. My burger was, sadly, also a 3 of 5. The fries reminded me a lot of the fries at BB’s. I dig shoe string fries. Tapester’s gives you plenty and they had solid flavor. A little crispy for my personal preference, but not bad. These are way better than the fries at say, the very overrated Jerry Built. [Booze]: Booze prices were pretty on par with most Houston burger joints. They had your standard affair, plus a few St. Arnold’s and Karbach’s Hopadillo. I very much appreciated the effort to include some Houston-area beers.(They’ll run you about $ 5). [Summary]: I love the ambiance, I appreciated the service and I was glad to see another local joint pop up in Meyerland/Bellaire. I actually think this is a little bit of a tricky location, but I hope they get lots of traffic headed down Braeswood from the Med Center to Meyerland. South Braeswood south on Newcastle would also work once WOM gets out. For a place looking to satisfy with burgers, I hope they get those bun kinks worked out. There’s(other) places to smooth out some edges, but I truly hope this place is successful. My wife and I will be back at some point, hopefully to try their breakfast. Stickee’s and frozen mimosas? Yes, please! And I’ll give the burgers another shot at some point.

A FANTASTIC neighborhood and family-run café. We stopped here from breakfast today — both having the breakfast tacos — –they were incredibly good. This is one of those places that ‘everyone knows your name’ and the locals come to read the paper. They have great outdoor seating and a menu that will appeal to anyone — including kids. We were really impressed and will definitely be back!

I am so happy to have found Tapesters In our neighborhood! — great service and friendly staff and owners — very easy to work with them in gluten allergy and they offer GF buns, tacos on corn tortillas, and chili and calamari that are gluten free. — has a drive thru!!! Can call ahead and swing by to pick up or order in line. — the breakfast tacos are AMAZING! Seriously. Corn tortillas were delicious. Flavor was great in chorizo, bacon, and even the bean tacos. So happy with them! — fries and chips are yummy! — the best ice in drinks and they sell it by the bag — GREAT iced mocha which the owner offered to be refilled as I waited for my tacos free of charge because he is so caring — trying really hard to find their groove and please customers. If you don’t like something why not give positive feedback in the store before writing a bad Unilocal review? I would love to see Gluten free brunch pancakes or waffles or something and maybe a big chalkboard on the patio for kids and then when the weather cools down I’ll be coming even more! ;) Thank you Tapesters! We will be back!

I have got to give a shout out to Tapester’s Grill on Beechnut near Newcastle. My husband and I went in for dinner the other night and I got the chicken sandwich and he got the hot dog. Just let me tell you about this sandwich… it’s a whole grilled chicken breast that ends up on a bun — it’s awesome. The hot dog that my husband had, his bun was buttered and toasted and he said it really just completed the meal for him. So then I ran in this morning to grab a breakfast taco before work. The owner’s daughter(I’m assuming, because what other preteen would be up at 8 in the morning during summer working anywhere?) was helping her mom take my order and run the register and was a DOLL. So sweet, so kind, so helpful… both of them. I ended up ordering a mushroom and spinach kolache and an egg and chorizo taco. One word: AMAZING. Everything tasted fresh and seasoned and, ow, it was so great. It’s my new favorite breakfast spot for SURE. Check em out if you haven’t already.

Had my hopes up for this restaurant and was let down. I wanted a new burger place near my house and Tapester’s Grill will not be one I visit again. The bread ruined the whole burger as it was bland and crumby and buttery and the half pound patty was bigger than expected and very greasy. Giving it two stars because of the price and the fries which were actually good but overall the burger was just not satisfying

What a convenient location. This area needed it badly. My son goes to the tkd school next door so we decided to try their breakfast. Biscuits n gravy with 2 bacon and 2 eggs: the biscuit underneath the gravy was tasty. It was more dense than fluffy but nonetheless, very tasty. The gravy itself was maybe cooked with some bacon fat since that was all i smelled when it was first put in front of me. OR maybe it was the ultra smokey and perfectly crisped bacon, which was excellent. Breakfast taco with bacon and egg: they cooked one whole egg and maybe a slice and a half of bacon in one taco. My son loved it. He didnt even let me have a bite :( Stickee bun: it was so decadent. I think they drizzled dulce de leche/cajeta on top? The dough was pretty dense and sweet and would be an excellent pair with the katz coffee selection they offer. Overall, we will be back to try the dinner/lunch menu. Will update the review then.

I was skeptical about location but my husband talked me into it So great! Food is OUTSTANDING, with both healthy and hearty fare. They cater to families and our kids loved the food, especially the sticky buns. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and even have a drive-thru! I hope they are successful, it’s our new neighborhood haunt! The service is second only to the great food. So friendly!
