Went here the other day and I can’t complain. Fast pace. Hot food. Took it to go since the line was looking a little lengthy. This one serves breakfast!

I had a Luan with fish, spinach and cabbage on the 29th of December 2015. It was the only meal I had that day and 4 hours after eating I became quite ill. I’ve had food poisoning before and this was definitely food poisoning. I doubt I will ever eat at that location again as customer service claims they had no other complaints.

This and every Luby’s is excellent. Very good, fresh tasty food, good prices, nice friendly staff. The recently rebuilt building well done. Of course it’s all well done. Owned by the excellent restauranteurs, the Pappas Bros

Tried and true American cafeteria, you can always count on them to have baked chicken fish chopped steak and macaroni. The staff are really nice. Alway a great place for good homecooked food.

Good food and nice place for the family. The older ladies as waitstaff are much more active and attentive than the young ones they could care less about the customers!

I went to the Luby’s Cafeteria located on South Post Oak. While in the serving line, I asked the gentleman for an item on the steamtable, at which time he prepared the plate and passed it on. The lady at the next section had the same item, in a larger portion. My husband and I discussed sharing this item so I asked her if this was an option, and if it was may I substitute and I was willing to pay extra. She became irritated and called the previous employee over and complained about my request. When she was chastised by a fellow co-worker, she replied openly and loudly«I don’t care! I get fussed at everyday». Surprised, I requested a manager and asked for the item again explaining we wanted to share and I would pay extra. The manager gave the item and we paid for the item and sat down. 10 – 15 minutes later, while my husband and I were still eating, a security guard came in, and announced that we would have to find a stopping point as the restaurant was closed. Surprised, I informed him we’d only just sat down. he advised that they closed at 8:30pm. I showed him my receipt, which reads 8:32pm as the time our money was taken. I also noticed he approached no one else and there were 3 tables in my area and 8 in another with people still eating. he again advised that it was after closing. My husband and I quietly left. This has been a HORRIBLE and EMBARASSINGEXPERIENCE!!! Neither I nor my husband made a scene at the steamtable, even when the server was so rude to us. When we went to pay for the food, the cashier did not tell us it was closing time nor did she give a to go container. The server in our area did not advise us we had to leave nor did she provide a to go container. BUT Luby’s took my $ 27.54, gave horrible service, and then a security guard passed several tables and told us WEHADTOFIND A STOPPINGPOINT. I have never had a more horrible experience. We have frequented this particular place for years. I am humiliated and completely mortified. WEPAIDINFULL!!!

First what I like about this LUBYS is the«To Go» service. Excellent. The employees are always very nice and efficient. The reason I’m giving it only 3 stars is our experience when we dined in. Granted, it was Easter however my made to order cheesesteak was forgotten and my husband went to check on it. They said they would get it made. While my family was finishing up their meal and my food was still missing, my husband went to check again. The woman he asked snapped at him that it was being made. There were no apologies, no offer to comp my meal, nothing. We won’t eat in again there but we will use the«to go» for sure.

This luby’s is a nice place to eat when you want a decent home cooked feeling meal but don’t want to cook. It is close by and easy to get to. We get fast service and have never had any problems. I love the white baked fish, green beans, and mashed potatoes. My only complaint is that sometimes the mashed potatoes are a little too salty and sometimes the green beans are slightly bland. This why I’m not giving a five star review.

$ 4.99 kid’s meal is a deal for me. My six year old loves them. Three chicken tenders, Mac and cheese, a vegetable, roll, drink, & jello, I’m sold. Now compare that to fake chicken nuggets, french fries, & questionable apples for the same price.

Great place to eat. The food is delicious, the employees very pleasant and the management always making sure your happy with your meal. The beautiful updated restaurant goes hand in hand with upscale food. This is not your old Lubys anymore!

First time eating breakfast at any Lubys. This location did not offer buffet layout rather order at to-go counter. Prices are reasonable. Ordered the French toast, which was good, and husband order the Southern chicken wings and Waffle. French toast was good but wings and waffle were not. See picture.

I came to visit my parents in Houston after being absent for 16 years. I must say I like Luby’s. I like the food, the way it’s presented, the service, and the price. My 14 year old son who grew up eating at diverse Southern California restaurants said he liked the food they served. I agree.

I went here for the first time in many years. I really thought they razed it along with the former AMC Movie Theater. But, to my surprise, they rebuilt it to its own free standing building that looked a bit smaller than the original. I was a bit disappointed this past Sunday that this location’s breakfast wasn’t all-you-can-eat, but express. Oh well. I had the Texan Breakfast Platter which consisted of 3 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 pieces of bacon, 2 sausage patties, a biscuit and a bowl of grits. Sad to say that I was defeated by the biscuit, the pieces of bacon and bowl of grits when done. Lol. But, hey, the rest of it did fill me up. Oh, forgot to note that their sausage patties are not the typical two circles cut out from a package, they actually ground their own sausage patties to the look of hamburger meat so they were a pretty good size. I think the only complaint that I have about what I had is that the grits had too much butter in it. The staff on duty were friendly and courteous. And, remember, I went on a Sunday morning. Would I come back here(to this location) again? Actually, I would. But, I think I’ll order a little less than a platter. Lol.

Location: plenty of parking available. Décor: typical cafeteria joint. Food: I always go for the Luann Platter which is the perfect size for me. Sometimes when I want some home cooking but I don’t want to go to a fancy restaurant, this is a great alternative and they also do to-go. Recommend the chicken fried steak and squash casserole. Don’t expect fresh sizzling food as it is a cafeteria. Service: good, although sometimes the tables are a lil sticky.

This is the new and improved Luby’s cafeteria. They are strongly trying to break away from the«go to place senior citizens», not that there is anything wrong with our awesome seniors! I get it, everybody is your run of mill mediocre restaurant but I think this new Luby’s making a huge leap in the right direction to update it’s image. They redesigned the entire place of the ground up. Stylish new décor with a open flow to the sitting area. The wait staff is very prompt and attentive. The food is good as always… I have been eating Luby’s since I could remember. Its always been good to me! I appreciate the home– cooked meal in a nice modern setting. They have done it right for years, beat out Picadilly and Wyatt’s cafeterias that I can recall that were in the Houston area. I think they will be alright people will come to eat, even the people that think Luby’s is for old folks.

This is not your Shooney’s breakfast buffet. I’ve never had a cafeteria style breakfast, but leave it to Luby’s to know how to pull it off. Seriously, for $ 4.99 you too can stuff yourself to the gills. All-you-can-eat. I suggest you get 2 plates from the get-go though. The line is ridiculously long. All the food was much better than I expected. The sausage was really good. The vegetarian eggs were great. The fruit salad on the salad bar is not included. It will all but double the price of your breakfast. No Mimosas though. If you have been to Luby’s before, it’s just like Luby’s, but with breakfast.

Seriously, when did Luby’s get all fancy shmancy on me? There are flat screens, outdoor seating and an alcohol menu to bood. I was surprised with all of that. No worries, I still got my Luann platter, right? WRONG Where the hell are the hot round fluffy rolls with butter??? and my mac and cheese wasn’t all that great. frustrating. I like Luby’s a lot but I think I’ll be sticking to the one by my parent’s neighborhood next time.

So I looked down at my feet and gasped in horror– I’d been outside doing yard chores, and somehow had managed to not change my Crocs for decent footwear when I’d gone out to run errands. I mean c’mon people, I’m kinda a yuppie, and I generally have the fashion sense of an academic, but I do draw a line at Crocs while not gardening, at the beach, or at the dog park. Considering my footwear selection I figured it was a good time to try lunch at the one place in my ‘hood where people wouldn’t judge me– Luby’s. I grabbed a tray, put on my «peering disapprovingly at things» glasses, and decided to start with a salad. A good sign, I thought, that a nice salad was the first choice. A rotund lady with more gold teeth than natural ones giggled manically as she dished me my salad fixins. «Uh-oh,» I thought. J and I used to have a thing for Old Country Buffet. We jokingly referred to it as «OCB» and secretly craved its college cafeteria quality food. And I actually love to slum it food-wise every now and then, which has nothing to do with price and everything to do with indulging in standard American cuisine. But part of the fun was always serving myself. And Luby’s gave me too much of each item so I didn’t feel like I could try very many things. I got the mac n’ cheese to go with my salad, and it was pretty standard cafeteria fare. The stuffing was very, very wet– like oatmeal before it thickens, and it tasted like chicken ramen. The fried okra was actually quite good– and a new one for this northerner! I ate as much of that as I could– does the frying negate the health benefits of the okra? ;) We had a waitress for some reason. She asked us if we needed anything and we both exchanged puzzled glances that said«didn’t we just get everything we needed from the buffet line?» I assumed the draw of a place like this was the prices– but our lunch came to $ 30! Pardon me, but screw that! I can get incredible food in this city for that price, not eat at the quality level I did as an undergrad, and not feel like I’m eating in a hospital cafeteria or airport lounge. Only bonus was fashion-watching. People do sure wear odd things out of the house(like full heads of curlers). But I have no room to talk– after all, I was wearing muddy Crocs. p. s. America, this is why you’re fat. I’m just saying.

This is definitely not the Luby’s I remember as a kid. This«fancy» Luby’s, features outdoor seating, spacious inside, flat screens, colorful balloons, a multitude of windows, and a bar. Not sure if they serve alcohol, but there was a seperate«bar area» with a server and all. But everyone is right. We want out condiment table! We want our condiment tay-bal!!! Seriously. I come to Luby’s for two things: mac ‘n’ cheese and hot rolls with honey butter. And here are two things that went wrong: sloooow check out service so that by the time we sat down, the grub was less than warm, and we had to wait even longer for that sweet butter. Oh wait, they don’t have butter. They only carry margarine now! So it sucks that you now have to ask your hard-to-be-found server for things like butter, ketchup, hot sauce and straws. But I’ll still go back. They’ve got this buy-one-get-one-half off deal every night after 4:30pm Mon-Fri, which is not bad for a simple dinner in Uptown.
