No idea how Texadelphia at 1960 is still open or why I went there again. I went a few years ago and it was horrible and tonight I noticed it was still there so I figured I would give it another shot. BADIDEA :(Got the South Philly to go. South Philly $ 7.59 $ 9.59 Angus Beef or Chicken * Grilled Onions * Mushrooms * Bell Pepper * Philly style cheese«Whiz». Took it back to work to eat it, opened my bag and saw what I thought was a little cup of queso for the fries which would have been awesome, cause the fries kinda sucked on their own. Turned out it was the cheese«whiz» that was supposed to be on my sandwich. Apparently I have to finish making my own sandwich, but like I mentioned earlier I’m at work so I don’t have a knife or fork etc to get the the thick glob of cheese whiz out of the little cup and onto my sandwich. So my choice was either a spoon sized glob of cheese on top of my sandwich or suffer through the tasteless bread and meat on it’s own. Long story short Jersey Mikes is like 2 minutes down the road and has a WAYWAY better cheesesteak. No idea why I didn’t go there in the first place. Learned my lesson.

I’ve been a fan of Texadelphia ever since I tried it on campus when I was in college at UT! They’re a little pricey but it’s worth it. Make sure you order fries instead of the chips; it makes a world of difference! Their salsa is not the greatest so definitely ask for some of the jalapeño ranch as a dipping sauce!

If I could give it zero stars then I would. Food is atrocious, poor service, and opening night of football season they had all of their TVs off and the girl working couldn’t figure out how to turn them on… We’ve been coming for years and have seen it going downhill. Last time we’re ever going there.

As a transplanted Philly guy, I tried this place and want to say it is a really bad attempt at a Philly Cheesesteak. The bread is spongy not fresh tasting. The meat is nasty tough and too peppered. The cheese fries were over cooked and the cheese was spicy not Philly cheese wiz. Sorry to say, $ 27.00 for two really bad sandwiches is a high price to pay for something I couldn’t eat because it was that bad. Texas, stick to BBQ and leave the Cheesesteak to Philadelphia. Place is dingy and feels dirty. Bad choice on my part. Save yourself the same bad experience.

I come for the chicken cheese steak sandwich. It never disappoints. But the place needs a refresh. Kind of dark and dingy. It just doesn’t have the ambience if the other locations.

Gross! The management here is horrid! There was a mouse running around in the dining room. This place needs to be shut down!

Well where do I start. I have been to a few different Texadelphia locations in Houston and this is by far the worst one. The last three times that I have done business with this location they have completely butchered my order. During the most recent visit, I ordered a meal where I requested that the beef be replaced with chicken. I even offered to pay extra if necessary. The cashier/waitress read the order back to me and told me that she would bring the order over when it was ready. 10 minutes later the order came out and surprise surprise, the order came out with beef instead of chicken. When I politely pointed out to the cashier/waitress that the order was incorrect, she just simply responded with a nonchalant«oh». Not an apology or offer to correct the order, just an «oh» and she turned and walked off never to return. I have no quarrel with the Texadelphia brand as a whole, but the level of customer service at this location is a joke and I refuse to ever step foot in this location again. Sincerely one dissatisfied customer.

This place has undergone an ownership change in the last year and it shows. Service, while still very friendly, is just not the same. Either is the consistent quality of the food that I have experienced for 5 years. Don’t get me wrong. I will still come, but not with the regularity that I use to. My advice is for the owners to visit some other locations to make sure they are living up to the good standard this proud franchise has set. Nothing wrong here that can’t be fixed with a little TLC.

From the previous reviews, I expected better. I bumped them up a 2nd star for fast service, but the food was awful. I had the recommended Founder’s Choice, but it was a mess. I tasted only grease and no cheese on a soaked, falling apart roll. The meat tasted subpar – one piece I bit into had a bit of bone. The waffle fries were overcooked and over seasoned. I really expected this to be better than Lenny’s and it completely wasn’t. I can’t recommend this greasy stuff to anybody else.

Came here for the first time and was genuinely impressed! The atmosphere is relaxing, baring children aren’t running everywhere unattended. The waitresses are nice, and very quick with the service. My build your own sandwich came quickly, though it seemed there was hardly any cheese at all on it, and it was so greasy that it leaked out liquid with each bite. Par for the course with Philly cheesesteaks however, and for the price it was one of the best I’ve had I’n a while. Massive meat portions.

First time at this restaurant and I would say that my meal was good(Philly cheese chicken with mushrooms), but my husband’s not so good because his sandwich had about half as much meat in it as mine. I ended up giving him half of my sandwich. The chips and queso before our meal was tasty, and the chips were fresh, but all in all-3 stars. Our waiter was friendly and provided good service. Added plus-kids eat free Sundays and Wednesdays!

I came here because I had a huge craving for queso and Philly cheesesteaks. I used to go to Texadelphia a lot in Austin when I went to UT so I have fond memories of the food here. Maybe my palate has become more refined over the years or maybe memories are better than the real thing, but I was disappointed with my meal. I ordered to-go and was promptly served my baggie of goodies. I got the queso compuesto, which has guacamole and cheesesteak in it. It was divine but it cost $ 8! Corn chips were the perfect blend of crispy, salty and yummy. However my beef cheesesteak with grilled onions and a side of mustard blend was just ok. The bread seemed too dry and puffy. I should have got the founders favorite but I was afraid it would be too greasy. Oh well next time. Queso was divine though!

Love their cheesesteak sandwiches. When I go I always order the Founder’s Favorite with the mustard on the side. The Founders Favorite is very big, full of meat, cheese, grilled onions and jalepenos. When I order this, I never have to order anything else but a drink because it’s more than enough food. I had the wings here once, not so great, typical fried wings, the parmesan cheese smell was so overpowering no one wanted to eat it. In all a great little sports bar type place, true college hangout and right down the street from my house, it’s hard to refuse.

Gotta love Texadelphia. A staple if you went to UT or A&M. I love the chicken cheesesteak and the turkey sandwich is awesome. If you get ANY sandwich, you HAVE to get the mustard blend to go with it. It is phenomenal. I’ll be back for sure.(Always have).

It’s pretty hard to find a great philly cheeseteak in Texas, but Texadelphia does come pretty close to one. They’ve added more items over the years and has still been consistently good. I came here and had their most popular cheesesteak and it was delicious. Wasn’t as oily as a real philly would be and I felt there wasn’t enough cheese in it, but it was still very good. I like the variety of sauces they offer and their waffle fries. I agree everything is very average, but it’s still good and if you are just having a craving, Texadelphia can sedate it easily. Other places like Philly Connection can’t compete.

Every so often, I crave good greasy texadelphia. If you’ve never been, get a regular cheesesteak. Don’t bother with extra toppings your first time, until you know you need more. Pick your fave sauce — they’re all good. But I’m very pleased with the new spicy ranch. It comes with chips and salsa. Delish. If you’ve got a group, get chips and queso too. I miss the days when we did this regularly for lunch, before they closed the Memorial location. Anyway, I was worried that after months, nay, years, without, I would have overly high expectations and be disappointed. I wasn’t. Instead, I left full and happy and will be back. Maybe one day I’ll even expand beyond my normal order. Doubtful, but maybe.

Admittedly, I was not a big fan on my first visit here a couple years ago. However, I think I ordered the«right» thing this time: a simple chicken cheesesteak with mushrooms, onions and cheese. Upgraded to waffle fries, too. The sandwich is juicy without being overly greasy(even though there is some grease). The mushrooms are fresh, not canned, thank God. The fries were crisp and lightly sprinkled with seasoned salt. The damage to my wallet was just under $ 9 with tax. The damage to my arteries… priceless. :P My bf bragged about his beef sammich with their special mustard sauce. I was hesitant to try(eww, mustard on a cheesesteak?) but gave it a shot. Meh. I think I prefer simpler(sans mustard). For something different to munch on, and to catch part of a college football game(now that we’ve entered into the season), this is a good place to stop in. :)

So, Texadelphia — supposedly a cross between Philly Cheesesteaks and Texas. So what makes it Texas? apparently, you add chips and salsa. Oh sure, you could have made it BBQ sauce or something equally«Texas» but I can deal with chips and salsa. So lets see what you get for a regular cheesesteak for about $ 7 bucks: One sandwich with a soft italian roll, USDA choice beef, onions, cheese of some sort(Not Cheesewhiz) and grease. Okay — it was KIND of close to a real Philly cheesesteak, but not THAT close. The meat seemed right, but the onions and the cheese got it all wrong. Also, WAY too much grease — really? can’t you get rid of it? So, anyway, this place is more like a wanna-be sports bar. with 11. yes, ELEVENTV’s… if you go there, try to spot them. You might just see 10… you’ll have to search far for that elusive 11th television :) So, just average for food, average for the décor, average for the whole experience. I’d choose a REAL cheesesteak somewhere else. Now where to find that in Houston… Hmmmmm!!! *scratches chin*
