The cheesesteaks here are absolutely horrendous. They are nothing like real Philly cheesesteaks. Why would you automatically put onions on someone’s sandwich? That’s not how it’s done in Philly. Mozzarella cheese? Are you kidding me?

Stupidly came here on the recommendation of a friend who usually takes me to disappointing places, but for once, he wasn’t too far off the mark. I had myself a large cheesesteak sandwich for a mere $ 8. A steal. It didn’t take much of it to fill me up either, although the dripping grease did more to fill me up than the actual bread and meat did. But I guess, the fact that I was still able to eat all of it does say something about the quality of the food; decent. The chips and salsa weren’t memorable, but after you’ve been dripping a gallon of oil on those crispy pieces, they aren’t so appetizing anyhow. It was great to have had this Texan experience, but I think my cardiovascular system will pass on a second gallon of grease.

Expelliarmus! This somewhat innocuous small little storefront is easy to miss as you fly down Rice trying to figure out if you are really going to take it out on your stomach with another meal at BWW this week or whether you can do better for yourself this meal. When you decide you need a big ‘ol Texan kind of sandwich for this meal then you set about trying to find a parking spot — good luck with that. I usually circle around the streets twice and just give up trying to snag a close spot with my timing, and I end up parking far far away and walking. But this is the Village after all even at 1pm, the soccer mom mobiles kindly taking up only two spots rather than their usual three spots, unlike the normal person with an SUV that knows how to park it in ONE spot. But I digress. This place with its innocuous beginnings manages to disarm you and your preconceived notions about«sports bar food.» This is a small shop, much smaller than my olde Texadelphia back in Dallas. There are a limited number of tables lining the walkway to the register and then there are a few barstools at the register as well as at a flat elevated bar near the soda machine at the back of the restaurant. This place feels packed without that many people. Dude behind the counter is friendly and patient as you figure out what you want to eat. I never know what to order here — it is all good — and I would like one of everything. Yesterday was my first experience with the chicken cheesesteak sandwich and it was gangster. It surprised me how tasty it was — since this was my «healthy option» this time around the block. The Texican, with all of its potential for an early heart attack is what I usually desire because the jalapenos and queso’s superpowers combine into the tastiest queso-centric sandwich this side of the Mississippi. The chips were not overly salty and the salsa was fair, not the best but definitely not bad at all. The soda machine might need some tinkering, the soda was tasting a little off. And in the reviews below I had a completely different experience: I was getting waited on hand and foot by the guy working that was not behind the counter — he kept getting me refills on my soda and checking to make sure I was alright. Ah, the powers of my Armani tie to induce people to serve me like a King. This is an awesome place for a sandwich and it has officially become my TwoRows replacement spot for«bar food»(it took that long since TwoRows disappeared to nominate a Village successor-in-interest to my heart)

All of you who say these are not cheesesteaks are correct but this isn’t Philly this is Texas. The hickory is absolutely the best choice by far, the regular cheesesteak is mediocre but add the mustard and jalepenos and you will have a life changing expierience. The price is very fair. The service is counter service it is not meant to wait on you hand and foot and it makes it somehow charming. Parking is a ***** but it’s the village get over it. I will definatly come back and if anybody is looking for a cheesesteak with the proper Texas flair go to texadelphia, you will not be disappointed.

Another Austin fave! This place definitely deserves my 5 stars! I love the founder’s favorite but with ranch on the side. When I think of cheese steak this is what comes to mind. Everytime I order cheese steak from somewhere else it never satisfies me. Now I’m not from Philly nor have I had the original cheese steak from there. But this is good enough for me. Or maybe even better? I dunno… but all I know is their cheese steaks have me dreaming sometimes that the next day I have to have one. NOLIE!

What the H-E-double hockey sticks is goin on with this t-delph… I mean, it’s miserable. The staff look so unhappy… Like they have major cases of the«Monday’s»… Except for not just being limited to Monday. And where are the jumbo salsa, ranch, and honey mustard dispensers? These to-go sized containers(same size as the kind I «borrowed» from taco cabana for homemade jello shots in college) just do NOT cut it. And why do they have posters advertising their new«fried» chicken wrap? This location doesn’t even have a fryer!!! Talk about some false advertising. Ok, ok, in all fairness, the food that they do have available is still pretty great. I love the turkey sandwich and the chicken cheesesteaks. They were skimpy on the chips this past Saturday but maybe they were running low? This location, staff included, needs some TLC.

Meat had little flavor, but wasn’t as greasy as I expected. Mustard blend was very tasty though. Cheesesteak was just bland and not very authentic. Maybe because it’s the furthest from Philly you could be?

Being a born and raised Philadelphian, I cannot say there cheesesteaks even hold a candle to the original. However, it’s not a bad choice when you want cheese and chopped beef on a hoagie roll. The service is also slow, so expect to wait after you order.

There is nothing like a Philly cheesestake, and this is nothing like a Philly cheesesteak. The best one I found in Houston is Lenny’s. It’s is very good but not Pat’s steaks either.

Texadelphia is delicious!!! I went here for the first time with my friend the other month, and I loved it!!! We started with the queso, which came out quickly and it was quite tasty! Plus it’s a huge order even for two people!!! Then I got the chicken version of the cheesesteak, which was delicious! The food was quick, prompt, and tasty!!! I’ll definitely be back!!!

David N. you just motivated me to write my review for this particular location. I agree with the fact that it «sucks». I have tried other locations that do not«suck». I was very disappointed to find out they don’t have fries here. The sandwiches are not made as well and mine tasted like salt.

It makes me sad to give such a low rating to Texadelphia because I LOVE their mustard blend. But this location sucks! They don’t have a frier so no yummy waffle fries or chicken tenders. Also the mustard blends and salsa is not in big containers where you can dispense as much sauce as you desire but instead in little to-go containers. I love drenching my sandwich in the mustard blend and I felt bad asking for like 4 of those little containers. Also I felt like I had to ration my salsa dipping too. I ordered the large, which means double meat, but I felt like it was less meat than normals at other locations. I would give them a 1 star but I do love Texadelphia but NOT this location. I would never come back here.

For me personally, this is the definitive cheesesteak. Make sure to get the mustard blend. I’ve been to this location a few times and never had problems finding a seat, but then again I only go on weekdays. The one on Westheimer is larger, and gets very crazy when the Longhorns make it to the NCAA playoffs.

At this very moment, I’m craving Texadelphia’s Queso & Chips and since I can’t get it right now, I thought I’d Unilocal about it. I love their queso because it’s always consistent — creamy, cheesy goodness with just the right amount of heat. It goes really well with the cheesesteaks, too — odd as it may sound. I’ve tried a cheesesteak at one of the famous places in Philly and Texadelphia’s is reminiscent of the original yet different, but that’s to be expected right? Hello, their name gives you a clue. Try the Founder’s Steak, it’s good! I’ve never had any problems with their service so I keep going back.

Yeah. I’d blocked these guys from my memory until a recent thread on the cheesesteak brought the bad memory back to life. Abert N is not exaggerating. These guys are an insult to the cheeseteak sandwich. I can understand making a weak cheesesteak – it’s done all over the city, but these guys were my bottom-low experience in my quest for a Houston cheesesteak. The cheesesteak at IHOP is better(scary no?). I didn’t try any other locations, this one depressed me enough. Sad but true.

Wow. These guys are still open? I love cheesesteak sandwiches, and Texadelphia has, without a doubt, the worst I’ve ever had. I’ve tried three locations, and they’re uniformly dreadful. The meat has little flavor, the bread is too soft and soggy. If you like cheesesteaks, keep going. Nothin’ to see here, folks.

While an undergrad at Rice, my roommate and I would often come to this Texadelphia and take advantage of a coupon they used to offer to Rice students: buy two sandwiches, get a free queso and chips. And man oh man, did we eat queso. Texadelphia’s queso(along with the thin, salted chips they use here, but not at other Texadelphia locations) has remained one of my favorites. Their sandwich menu is pretty typical for a college hangout/bar. Cheesesteaks, both beef and chicken, are good, especially with the hickory sauce. The chicken salad and veggie sandwiches are both delicious as well, and served on whole wheat buns. The location is small but has a nice feel, and the service is usually decent. For *delicious* queso, this Texadelphia is definitely the place to go.

Awww, Texa’s only got three stars? I love Texadelphia, so I figured I’d review it to help up its rating. The guys who work at the counter here are usually high school boys, so granted, the service isn’t magical. But I’ve been in when it’s absolutely packed and and they’ve always done a decent job getting the orders out in a timely manner. The queso is basic but pretty spicy! My guy friends describe the cheesesteaks as «sex in your mouth» — I don’t know If I’d even say they are that good. But they are excellent enough to keep any grease, meat, and cheese lover satisfied. PS. Parking for this place, like most places in the village, is a nightmare.
