I have only been to the Westheimer location. They have THE best queso around. I have been there three times and have gotten it every time. I highly recommend it. The cheesesteak sandwiches are very good because the bread is super soft and the filling is very flavorful. Also, I love their hot mustard type sauce. It tastes like it has wasabi in it… mmmmmmm. The service has been great and the staff is friendly. The patio area is large and is very relaxing. Try it out!

On our day of driving through Texas, our plan was to stop in Houston for dinner, as my dad and I wanted a reward for such dedicated driving(and listening to Harry Potter Book 7 on CD). I had my boyfriend and sister each Unilocal for barbecue in Houston and text me addresses, and we decided to try and head to Otto’s Barbecue and Hamburgers. Clearly, we failed. When we arrived, Otto’s hours stated they should have been opened… but the doors were locked and the place completely blacked out at 6PM. Needing sustenance, we crossed the street, and decided on Texadelphia, intrigued and confused about what was a Texas cheesesteak. About half the tables were filled, with men just off from work watching the 3 baseball games playing simultaneously on 7 different TVs. The décor is sports-bar-slash-Americana-Applebees, i.e. cluttered with celebratory Houston sports teams paraphernalia. My dad ordered an Original Texas Cheesesteak: steak, mozarella, mushrooms, and jalapenos. Honestly, amazing. The meat was so tender and thinly sliced, the cheesy melted but sparse, not overpoweringly chewy as the Philly cheesesteaks I’ve had have been. Jalapenos were the perfect additional touch, adding just a hint of spice to a flavorful mouthful. I kept stealing bites. I got a cheeseburger with cheddar. The patty was hand-formed but well-done, rather than with a little pink in the middle, so the meat was too dry. The burger overall was HUGE(it’s Texas, after all)(insert joke here?), but bland; I had to add some jalapenos from my dad’s sandwich, in addition to a whole lot of mustard and ketchup. It didn’t come with fries so I got a basket of the waffle fries, as well. They were seasoned and orange. Each fry was rather small, and thusly quite crisp. A good way to round out our sandwiches. Both dishes came with tortilla chips and salsa. The chips were from a bag and very thin. The salsa was alright, with large chunks of tomato and jalapeño. I got a pink lemonade(from the fountain, nothing special) and altogether the meal was less than $ 20. My only regret is not getting a cheesesteak sandwich as well. A good stop on our trip, good tasting, filling and cheap, although to be honest, I probably wouldn’t return if I were in Houston again.

[Just closed last week(Aug 09), so football season couldn’t even save this place. Let’s hope something replaces it that will stay open past 10pm on a Saturday] Although the food can be perfect for watching sports and the TVs are of high quality, does this location ever stay open late? I have often been by there around 10pm and it’s already shut and dark(OK, off to Los Cucos then). I was there in January for the NFL playoffs(prime time on Saturday nights) and the place struggled to stay open for the remainder of the game(just past 10pm). My tab was on the table, unsolicited, in the 4th quarter. In fact, some of the lights automatically shut off at 10pm and you needed to prop open the bathroom door with a garbage can(OK, that was the charming part). I wouldn’t think to go there for NCAA basketball due to the late games. Great concept and great location(would warrant more stars), but can’t you stay open a bit later in the 007 with so many people within walking distance from Memorial?

I used to live pretty close by this place and it was my go-to spot when I needed something quick, tasty and relatively cheap. The chicken cheese steaks are delicious! There are plenty of TVs to watch a game but the sound of the game doesn’t take over the room. The guys behind the bar are quick with the beers and engage in conversation if you want. they don’t hover though so if you just want to eat in peace, watch a little of the game and be on your way this is a great choice.

First off. I never had a real philly cheesesteak from pilly, that being said. Since the first time I cam to eat here I was hooked. Best«Texas» cheesesteak in houston, Great service, sports always on the plasmas, match with a shiner brew. and I am loving it. There waffle fries are money. The times I go are not packed. A+ and its a good crowd when it is. Ladies let me tell you. if you wanna take your dude out to grub. take him here. Tell him to get the large, with that mustard sauce, waffle fries.mmmmmm. If you of age… match it with a beer of your choice.

This is some pretty filthy stuff. But in a good way. Cheese melted on meat is always good. Except when they forget my extra grilled onions(grrrr…). If you have any love for your heart, you will eat half of one, and not a whole one. No, it’s not the real deal, but the queso sure is darn good.

At this place everybody knows my name. I’ve been coming here since it opened 5 years ago. I’m here 3 – 4 times a week mainly drinking beer at the bar, taking advantage of their happy hour. I know its counter productive but I love coming here after I’ve finished running the Memorial track. The staff is primarily UH students and they are great. The Cheese Steaks are great; I would recommend ordering a Cheese Steak with a side of the mustard blend sauce and just smothering it. They have some signature sandwiches; my favorite from the list is The Hickory. A cheese steak cooked with bar-b-que sauce topped with mozzarella and cherry peppers. And to second Jeff G. the chips n queso are a must(ask for extra jalapeos) its awesome. They recently updated all TV’s to HDTV, DLP’s and LCD’s so all who thought their TV’s were too old come check out the new set up. This place is a must for sports events with your friends and pitchers of beers. With the Men’s NCAA Basketball tournament around the corner I will be camped out here for two weeks

I was so excited when I saw that we had a Texadelphia in Houston. The one in College Station shut down a few years ago and they replaced it with New York Subs. Hmph. The food is consistently good. The cheesesteaks are what you come for, but you can’t forget the queso. I, personally, get the cheesesteaks and then smother it in more cheese by taking the left over queso and drizzling it everywhere. They have tvs with sports on(usually football), so if you’re a fan, it can be fun to be at a non-sports bar watching sports.

This is Mecca for me. A huge number of TVs, lots of beer specials, excellent food, and a crowd of great sports fans. What can be better than spending an entire Sunday during football season at Texadelphia? If you haven’t done it, I highly recommend it. While the Rice location doesn’t really lend itself to doing so, I’ve spent many a Sunday at both the Memorial and Westheimer locations. Most sports bars churn out crappy food, but Texadelphia knows what it’s doing. Make sure you get Chips and Queso, it’s some of the best melted cheese around. I prefer a chicken cheesesteak with the mustard blend sauce, but their steak version and other sandwiches are excellent as well. Beer specials always abound, and there’s a large number to choose from to keep you going as the Texans are getting pounded by a sub-par team. Ambiance here is also great. People root for the home teams here, so there’s a collective sense of elation(or dread) during the games. Waitresses provide good service and are always friendly. Overall, a great spot for catching the game or even grabbing lunch on a workday.
