This place was one of the new joints that popped up during the revival of Downtown. I think they were just a little ahead of the curve and suffered because not enough traffic was coming into downtown at the time. I had only been in for drinks a couple of time, but nothing about it was memorable.

I think the confusion here is that I was not at this location but I was just drunk on St. Germain and thought it was a relevant association. Or I was amused. Regardless, ultimately I blame Fernet shots for that missing hour and a half of my life. I’m sure this place is great though. I wasn’t dining there — just probably stumbled past it on the sidewalk and was inspired to ‘check in’.

I had one of those internet group deals for like $ 45 for two… and it seemed like a great deal. My partner and I had lunch and we were very pleased with the flavor. We went on a FRI afternoon and there was literally no people in the restaurant except for a couple scoping the place for a wedding reception. The ambiance was nothing to write home about, however, the food was pretty tasty(house hamburger and grilled fish). We had a combo deal, so the soup and salad were pretty standard fare. Our server was very attentive, although technically, we were her only customer. LOL

I bought the Unilocal Deal $ 95 for $ 125 — They did not honor my voucher from Unilocal. The manager stated he did not know anything about the Unilocal deal and simply offered a round of drinks for our inconvenience(I spent $ 130 for 2 ppl). The food was good, but the price is not worth the minimal accommodation the manager offered when I presented my voucher and he wouldn’t accept it. I’m not sure who is at fault, Unilocal or The Capitol at St. Germain, but I would like my money back. I paid for a deal and did not receive my product. I will not buy a deal from here again. It’s not worth the hassle I went through. I’m disappointed at Unilocal because I use this site all the time. Regards, ‘ Disappointed User

This place encompasses many things in one — a bar, a club, a music venue, a jazz club, and steakhouse all in one. High ceilings, a second floor that could easily turn into a dance floor in a night club, and a stage in the front. The night I came, there was a mambo jazz band that was provided awesome live music. For the food, every dish that I tried was pretty good. House-made chips were well-seasoned with parmesan and truffle oil and came in a heaping pile. Crab cakes are 90+% crab, and thus quite small but very delicious. Packed with fresh crab meat and well-seasoned. For their entrees, I was surprised that they had a hot dog on there amidst the fancier-sounding dishes. But then found myself ordering it when I saw that it was not just any hot dog, it was loaded with bacon, chili, cheese, jalapenos, and — wait for it — pickles. The dog was thick(that’s what she said) and made with all-beef with a good casing on it. This was all wrapped in a soft pretzel roll, my fave! Also tried their rib eye steak, which was large, well-seasoned, and cooked medium-rare(although some parts were more medium). Garlic mashed potatoes were a win. Oh and don’t forget to save room for dessert. If you’re too full, sit back and enjoy the music for a bit, then go in for a second round.

I love this place. We live nearby, so we go pretty often. It’s a gorgeous restaurant where we can go big(the filet, the chop, and the flounder are all outstanding, and they often have interesting specials) or small(the burgers, pizzas, and salads are also wonderful, and quite affordable.) The drinks are interesting and yummy, and the service is attentive and professional. I am always impressed, all around. Don’t miss the seafood gratin appetizer! It’s indulgent. The only negative experience I’ve had here is that the chef apparently can be stubborn about substitutions. My picky-eater hubby was pleased with what they chose for him, so no harm — I just think it’s silly not to give customers what they want, if they’re willing to pay extra.

The venue was very empty; only 1 or 2 other tables most of the night. Our waiter was overattentive, then not to be found. We found a hair in a dish, and it was promptly comped and free drink vouchers were given out. Wanted to order the foie gras, but were told that the chef had decided the quality wasn’t up to par and so it wasn’t available, which I suppose is a plus. House Pulled Mozzarella & Prosciutto Fresh Herb Infused Mozzarella, Tomato, Basil Oil, Balsamic Drizzle. Topped with Crispy Prosciutto Duck Breast Seared Mallard Duck, Strawberry Essence & Raspberries Pear & Arugula red pears, pink peppercorns, fig balsamic vinegar, with fig wrapped goat cheese Medallions Of Beef with garlic mashed potatoes & green beans cooked in red wine sauce Braised Pork Shank with sautéed spinach & root vegetables Diver Scallops & Pork Belly Apple & Baby Arugula Salad Drizzled Shagbark Hickory Syrup Crispy Gulf Blue Crab Bombs Creole Ravigote Sauce Cheesecake Strawberry shortcake The food was pretty good overall. All the meats were prepared very well. The skin on the duck could have been crispier and the dessert was fairly basic.

Came with friends for a birthday dinner and for HRW! There were 4 of us so we got to try all all but one item on the HRW Menu. We did it family style and it was so much fun! Appetizers: The pork tacos were super yummy! Tender pulled pork and the fried wonton shell was a great idea. The Gazpacho was a bit strange, more like sipping on salsa. The Tomato Basil soup was rich and creamy and the Balsamic salad was very tasty. We missed out on the Ceasar Salad but hey, it’s a Ceasar Salad right? Entrees: There were 4, so we got to try em all! Our favorite? The Lambshank! OMG! So tender and oh so delicious! The spinach stuffed chicken was ok. If you are a fine of goat cheese, you will love this dish! The wild rice was pretty good with bits of bacon in it(can never go wrong with bacon :) The fettucine with grilled shrimp was pretty tasty as well. The medallions of beef could have been seasoned better, but the mashed potatoes were fantastic!!! We were having a great time until the band started to play. The restaurant dining area is so nice, very upscale, but having a VERYLOUD band play in that area was a bit of an annoyance. Good thing we planned on being out of there and on to the House of Blues by the time their show would start!

I had such high hopes… The inside is nice, but what’s up with the stage and green lights above it? Weird. Items tried: Tomato basil soup– it’s very smokey but still good Braised pork shank-delicious! strawberry shortcake-YUCK! If you like sheet rock with berries and whipped cream, you’ll love it. My friends had the same issue. Their first two dishes were great and the dessert fell incredibly short. As for the service, our waiter seemed stoned and like he should work at Applebees, which isn’t what I’d expect at a place like this.

Honestly… ask for server John, so helpful! gave us the best tips for the city. This is probably one of the best spots to dine if you are staying for business in downtown Houston. If you have the time I would suggest going somewhere more«local.» But overall this is probably one of the top spots for a fun atmosphere, decent food, & great hospitality. Happy Hour runs from 4 – 7 for specialty drinks & $ 6 appetizers. Key appetizer: truffle chips. delicious. small bite appetizer: mozzarella w/prosciutto Food: +chicken ravioli. we thought the ravioli was stuffed with chicken, nope. its literally Chicken covering Ravioli. pretty good. but not my top pick. +coworker had: medallions of beef. it was my preferred option. Will I return, probably for some drinks & truffle chips. But food… think I may skip along to another local spot or one of the surrounding steak houses.

I came here for my high school reunion and was pleasantly surprised at the venue! We didn’t eat any of the food since it was just appetizers, but their drink selections and bars were very nice! The space is great and open so you feel close to your party but far enough away from other parties that you don’t overhear their conversation and vice versa!

Dined in on a Friday night at 9 pm for HRW. Live band, which was nice. Pork tacos(4⁄5) — pulled pork = delicious. i really liked the taco shell… fried wonton shell. Spinach stuffed chicken(3⁄5) — chicken wasn’t dry. not a fan of wild rice Medallions of beef(2⁄5) — nothing special. I decided to order from the regular menu. They were out of foie… sucks. The chop(2⁄5) — so. disappointed. it came out extremely well done… dry to the point where it was hard to cut through with a steak knife. i understand how some restaurants won’t serve pork under a specific temperature, however, i don’t understand why i was even asked how i wanted it cooked… just got my hopes up for a medium-rare chop. lame. at least the polenta, roasted root vegetables, and pear chutney were delicious. cheesecake(4⁄5) — can’t mess up cheesecake, strawberry sauce was a nice complement. shortcake and chocolate cake(3⁄5) seems like the place is better for hh.

The interior is beautiful! Live Music! What a great date spot! Stopped in here for a late night bottle of wine and some appetizers. We dined on Bison bites, Truffle Chips, and Hot Pretzel Sticks. Everything was excellent! All of the food was beautifully presented and was served hot. The wine selection is good, there is something for everyone. And the best part of the evening was the live music. There was a full band and singing. It was a nice surprise for a late night stop! Give it a try!

If you’re fine with spending around $ 25 per person for lunch, then this is the place for you. My boyfriend and I went and our total bill came out to $ 53, which isn’t too bad considering we had their most expensive appetizer, one of their most expensive entrees and desserts. The service was exceptional. I got there about 10 minutes before my boyfriend and they let me sit at the bar and they came by to ask if I wanted anything to drink while I waited. How thoughtful! To start, we had the bison bites. Definitely amazing. The bison bites had this delicious mozzarella inside that just oozed out as nicely as freshly melted cheese can when you cut the bites into bite size pieces. I highly recommend them. Next, I had the grilled flounder. It was the most expensive lunch menu item and it was delicious. I’d still try something else the next time, though. To finish, my boyfriend had the cheesecake and I had the orange crème brûlée. Oddly enough, mine was a khaki color, which isn’t really the color I’d expect my orange crème brûlée to be. However, it tasted great so I overlooked the slightly unappetizing color. The ambiance was absolutely lovely and I definitely want to come back at night sometime for a live performance.

For a good luck lunch, we came to The Capitol! I liked the following: Capitol Burger — loved the brie and onions! Sweet Potato Fries — the entire group raved! Décor — Very cool and cozy feeling! Host — Very helpful and adjusted our table to accomodate«just one more» I didn’t like the following: Waitress who didn’t have time to refill drinks — when it obviously wasn’t busy I would like to check it out at night, for the live music that they bring in!

Cute place, felt really old time-y and cozy. There was a live band that played later in the evening. The music is very loud so go before like 9pm if you want to talk to whoever you’re eating with. The band was fun to watch and listen to though! Loved all the food here! Got the Diver Scallops and Pork Belly, yum loved the flavor. For some reason I thought the pork belly would be soft like how it is when it’s cooked at Asian restaurants but it wasn’t. Also got the Char Grilled Fillet Mignon with asparagus and potato au gratin. The filet was well cooked and surprisingly pretty big. It came with lots of potatoes! We came the weekend before Valentine’s day so they had the Valentine’s menu. I got the steak and lobster 5 course meal. The steak was well cooked and the lobster was very buttery and delicious. I chose squash soup for the appetizer(it was okay) and cheesecake and some other cake for dessert(yum!!). Everything was great! I’d definitely come back for round 2! Such a cute place.

I came here for an alumnae mixer and had a great time! The food was delicious! We had all the appetizers they offered passed around and there was not one that I did not like! The drinks! All of them were so good and they had some creatively delicous mixed drinks available! Try them! The atmosphere. Loved it! While our theme was the roaring 20’s you could really dress as trendy as you liked. It’s not too fancy of a place but if you know the trends and love to dress them, do it here! You can also dress up to go here for a nice night out so don’t knock it before you try it! I can’t wait to go back and bring my fiancé along. I think he would really love it!

I had my birthday brunch recently and had the best time. All my friends fell in love with this place. The décor here is amazing. This used to be the old Zula and they did a great job renovating. The prohibition type ambience and vintage look made it feel real upscale and classy. The food and drinks here are well priced for being in downtown. I’ve had a taste of the Bison Bites, Meat pizza, and the Blackened Chicken Sandwich. So far everything I’ve tried on the menu has left me thoroughly impressed. The waiters LT, Kyle and Bartender Melissa took good care of us. James the General Manager made sure we were all taken care of and the Executive Chef Kevin Bryant also came out to greet us at the end of our meal. I’d definitely recommend this place for anyone for a new place downtown for lunch, dinner and for some live music!

Houston finally gets another restaurant/live music venue! As it was opening weekend, we decided to check them out last Saturday night. Needless to say, we were very pleased with our little outing. Everything we experienced was nothing less than stellar. Upon stepping into the venue, between the décor and the cocktail waitresses decked in flapper attires, you can’t help but to feel like you’re back in 1920’s. Service was excellent, granted it wasn’t a full house but our server was very attentive with a very pleasing personality. Food menu focused more on shared bites and that’s exactly what we did. We ordered the tuna duo, ménage a foie, diver scallop and pork belly, and bison bites. Everything was good, but my favorite was the diver scallop/pork belly dish, one of the best pork bellies I’ve had in Houston! Cocktail list was quite extensive but if you can’t find something to your liking, the bartender will gladly whip something up. She created a mocktail for me, and a proper Irish coffee for the hubby. But best yet was the live music. The band playing that night was Soul Track Mind, they were a blast and got people up there dancing, even little girls. We had such a great time, we plan to be back soon!
