Was not impressed with this spot originally. I had come with a couple of friends for a dinner get together. We shared a wide variety of appetizers and event those infused jello shots. Nothing blew me away and I was awaiting to come back again before writing the review. However, I came by yesterday and it looks like the place has closed down. This spot is cursed.

Went here late on a friday night and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The place was not too packed, which I enjoy because I am not 21 anymore. We were served right away and although I cant exactly remember the name of my drink it definitley had the word marmalade in it. It was served in a mason jar and was absolutley delicious. I would go back just for that drink! We also ordered a flight of the jello shots. I definitly had some reservations about trying these but they were all really delicious! We had fruit loops, captain crunch, red velvet, bostom crème pie, and peanut butter and jelly. All of them were great, I think captain crunch and peanut butter an djelly were my favorite. They were definitley a tasty treat.

Only rating on the ambience and one drink at this point … It was definitely a lot nicer(fancier) than I expected. I thought it was going to be casual base on the outside appearance, but inside there were fancy couches, candles, an lots is decorations. It looked really nice, just now what I was expecting. Unfortunately the kitchen closed early because it was quiet this particular Thursday night, which was the main reason we went in there. The menu looked good and I’m intrigued by their Sunday brunch; will have I try in the future. We got two of their specialty drinks; the man’s club and west coast prosac. They were both good and really strong. I had the west coast; it was surprisingly refreshing and not too sweet. Not sure if they are worth $ 10 though.

My husband and I came here for Sunday brunch. We really didn’t see what is special about this place. Maybe it is because we did not have service. It took about 30 mins to actually have wait staff come and give us water then he disappeared again. I was telling my husband that we should leave but he really wanted to try this place out. I don’t see what is Good about this place. We will not be back here.

Cool and casual Sunday brunch spot. I’d been hearing about tgl for a while, and their popular $ 15 brunch buffet and $ 1 mimosas, so naturally I found my way there! They open at 11a, and my group of 7 girls showed up around 11:20, perfect timing, and still ample space available on the patio. I Love love loved the fans! You can’t sit on a patio in Houston without a fan. Back to the buffet. It’s a little small and short, but good. Biscuits n gravy, bacon, potatoes, vegetables, eggs, pasta, pancakes, French toast, fruit, cereal, etc. all good. Our table was put together quickly, our server was fast and friendly too. She didn’t mind splitting our tab a few ways either. That’s a good-server-sign! To top it all off, Martin Prendergast(aka little Martin) spins from noon-5p on Sundays. So while you eat n drink, he’s jammin out! There’s some space to chill around the bar after you eat, but gets a little crowded. I’ll be back on a Sunday that’s for sure!

I sure am living the Good Life whenever I come to this establishment. I’ve come here three times since it has opened this past year. I am a fan, but not of their parking situation. They offer valet, but I’d rather just park it myself. There’s usually street parking and the parking lot they share with BW3. They are known for their gourmet jello shots. They have a variety of flavors that change every week like beignets, strawberry shortcake, fruit loops and smores to name a few. The sweet potato lettuce wraps is what I usually order. The service there is very accommodating to large groups even when its super busy. It’s a pretty chill spot to be at for brunch. Especially with their flavored mimosa specials on Sundays.

Over the holiday weekend I came to The Good Life on Friday for their happy hour in which I got the plate of 5 jello shots for $ 20 which is a great deal. I was so impressed with the array of flavors that they had. My favorite was the PB&J, Fruit Loops, and Blueberry waffle jello shot. They topped each shot with something unique to the flavor. The PB&J had a little jelly on top, the fruit loops had three fruit loops sprinkled on it and the Blueberry waffle shot had a dab of syrup over it. On Sunday a friend and I decided that we wanted to check out there brunch so we got there around 2:30 and brunch ends at 4pm. They had $ 1 mimosas. Let me say that again… they have $ 1MIMOSAS. I will probably live here now on Sundays. lol. The gentleman at the bar was absolutely amazing and he made sure that my friends and I enjoyed our drinks. Josh’s personality is the type that you want to have around when you are sitting at the bar having drinks. He kept us laughing which made us keep ordering more drinks. I would recommend anyone going when Josh is there you will definitely enjoy the good conversation. Now about the food it was $ 15 for the brunch buffet which I felt was a good price with all they were serving. The garlic mashed potatoes were so good along with the other items but the mashed potatoes were my favorite. The food was served fresh and we never had to wait long for the food to be replaced. This is a really nice spot and I can’t wait to visit again.

Just got back from a trip to this place, and man was it fun! Let me tell you, those«edible cocktails» may taste like cookies… but they are pure booze! Wow, a few of those and you’ll be on the floor! Such a unique and fun place to be. Only small complaint: The«tapas» bar food menu is a little generic… and not very friendly to vegetarians or health conscious folk. How many hummus plates and guacamole with chips can one really order in a lifetime? Other than that, A+!!!

I came here for dinner with my sister and we ordered the West Coast Prozac, Korean Chicken, Grilled Cheese Sticks, Sliders, and Brats in a Blanket. The West Coast Prozac didn’t come with a flower like it said on the menu and came with two blackberries with a lemon instead to make a smiley face. I would recommend this drink if you like sweet drinks. My favorite food was the Korean Chicken. The chicken was juicy and it came with a yummy spicy dipping sauce. My second favorite was the grilled cheese sticks with the tomato basil soup dipping sauce. I didn’t like the sliders as much because I’m not a big fan of coleslaw but my sister liked them. I didn’t like the mustard dipping sauce that came with the Brats in a Blanket but they were pretty good by themselves. The ambiance was nice, the bartender was fun to talk to and I liked the music. I want to come back for for the $ 15 Sunday brunch buffet from 11 – 3 with $ 1 mimosas and to try the edible cocktails! There was no parking in the lot but we were able to park for free on the street since it was after 6.

I was here for an event and got to try different bites, none of which were that great. Well, the hummus was legit b/c it was pretty garlicky and I like garlic. The brats wrapped in phyllo-dough-type pastry was greasy, but tasted good. The pretzel sticks were like humongous long sticks of bread. Hush puppies were pretty dry, and didn’t really taste like much of anything. I liked the patio setup as you walk in, and around the side. Patios are always nice. Other than that, there’s not much else to say about this bar/lounge. It’s got a bunch of Tv’s all over, which makes me feel like it’s a sports bar. It’s just a little bit of everything, in a haphazard confusing way.

I think I wanted to like this place more than I did. I think the setup is really nice, comfortable and casual, and the service was very good. Met up with some friends to try it out and got a seat on the patio since the weather was nice. The music outside probably could have been quieter, as conversation was sometimes difficult. Tried a couple drinks: Guns n Roses(so-so), bloody mary(pretty good), Jar of pickles: these were more like marinated fruit and veggies. They were ok, but the pickling liquid just didn’t get absorbed enough Pretzel sticks: Soft pretzels in stick form with cheesy dipping sauce, good. Brats in blankets: these were yummy bites. Puff pastry dough was light and cooked through, brats were still juicy inside. Marghareta flatbread: a tasty classic Sweet potato lettuce wraps: this was good too, but the ratio of sweet potato to slaw was too little. Korean fried chicken: I didn’t notice anything Korean about these. Maybe it was supposed to be the dipping sauce, but I didn’t find that to be particularly Korean either. That’s all I can remember. I didn’t have any of their oft talked about edible cocktails, so maybe next time. I still think it’s a cute place to get a bite, so I’m sure I’ll be back.

The Good Life, in the former Deco Lounge spot for you ol’ timers, is a cool Midtown spot to drop in for drinks and maybe a nibble. After a concert, we stopped in for a few more nightcaps, which turned into a flight of «gourmet» Jell-O shots — think Fruit Loops, Cuba Libre, Sweet Tea Vodka and something with Pop Rocks. Good, but they were four for $ 20. As for food, they have a simple menu of bar bites with a twist, like Korean Fried Chicken Strips and Dirty Nachos(with bleu cheese, barbecue brisket — those two were my fave. Though they could have been a lot more spicy. Ask for fresh jalapeños and some Sriracha. The BF wasn’t a fan of the Bratwurst In A Blanket, though it’s hard to impress a Wisconsinite with a Houston brat’. The flaky breading, however, I enjoyed.

Was excited to try this place. Edible cocktails looked amazing in the pictures. Thought it was a fun concept but isn’t anything I would go back for. I had the Lux lemon cocktail which was the best thing I had there. The blueberry foam made the drink! Mini fish tacos were not mini! Which could be a good or bad thing. I personally didn’t care for them all that much … But I am a Cali fish taco snob. Also had the mango ginger mimosa which I thought could use more ginger kick. Overall? Good but not great. Atmosphere was fun for Sunday funday start.

This is a 4-star, but an accidental 4-star? Partner and I went for dinner — the menu when you get there causes you to say«What?” – doesn’t seem to work. But everything we ordered worked, and was very good! They emphasize their Jello Shots — OK, but your food is really good… It’s just kind of a confusing concept. I came up with the idea that this place is just mis-named. It’s probably more of a club-thing-in-a-strip-mall than a Sounds-Like-a-Farm-to-Table, which might be the source of all the cognitive dissonance found in the other reviews I’ve read, and am posting. We didn’t have to Valet — but I’ve read the valet is $ 7? That’s just a dumb idea. Not against paying for valet… just a dumb idea here, even though I didn’t use it. Like the name, it just doesn’t fit.

I really want to like this place. It feels like a restaurant/bar trying to be fancier than it really is. What bothered me the most was entering the venue. I knew from facebook that the establishment had happy hour til 8pm, so I was excited to try a $ 6 foodbox, whatever that meant, and some drinks. Upon arrival, my 2 friends and I venture in and wander aimlessly, because there is no hostess or person greeting you at the door to tell you where you can sit for happy hour. We wander aimlessly, and the bartenders avoid eye contact with us. Who the hell do we ask where to sit? We finally meander to a table and hope that it’s in the ‘happy hour’ section, not knowing really how the logistics of this particular place works. 5 minutes pass, and nobody comes to serve us or ask us of drink orders. While waiting 5 minutes, we sit in music from a live dj(cool) but we find ourselves yelling at each other because the volume is 10 notches too high(not cool). Finally we stand up in frustration, and only then a waitress comes running over, and she yells to us we can sit anywhere for happy hour. We decide to relocate outside and yell(not intentionally) that we want to sit outside. We are hungry. I’m excited to try the $ 6 food box that they have advertised on facebook just a few hours ago, come to find that they don’t have it that day. WTF, then why did you just advertise it on facebook? Ugh. instead, we order from the menu: stinky cheese sticks, the korean chicken tenders, fish tacos, sliders, kebabs to start off. The food comes out, and it’s pretty delish but very simple. Really, how hard is it to fuck up these types of finger foods? The fish on the fish tacos were bland as hell; I found myself stealing sauce from the kebabs and even the slider sauce to make my fish taco more appealing. For drinks we ordered the gentleman’s club, honey i’m foam and west coast prozac. All of them are good and worth the $ 10 in my opinion. I would come back, but not for happy hour since I ordered nothing off the happy hour menu drinks OR food-wise, which sucks. I LOVE finding a happy hour gem, and unfortunately this is not one.

Sorry I’m just not seeing this one last. The location is a cursed corner with too many open then closed concepts in its wake that I don’t see this one faring any better. The layout although smartly decorated is awkward. There are two bars inside bisected by a table area and it strangely felt cramped although it was pretty empty when we went. I think the best way this place was described to me by someone else visiting for their first time was that, its a place that can’t seem to figure out what the hell it is. There’s a small patio section out front, a restaurant feel interior, but mainly a focus on it being a bar with small artisinal jello shots. Service was sluggish even bellied up to the bar and bartenders were much more accustomed to running the waitress well than taking orders direct from the customer. Valet is silly overpriced. Hands down unnecessary. Head that way to get your own feel of the place and best of luck to them. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that the hype of fancy jello shots may eventually fade combined with a visually obscure location may put The Good Life on hard times.(see what I did there?)

The Good Life was the second stop on our cool-places-we’ve seen-on-Yelp tour over the weekend. As someone who frequents Midtown establishments, I’ve passed this place a number of times, but never felt compelled to try it. We arrived at about 9 pm on Friday night. It was lively, but not packed and we easily found three seats together. I like this place because it’s conducive to mingling, but there are also smaller seating areas where you can be left alone if that’s your preference. We bought into the hype and tried their specialty cocktails served in mason jars and ordered a flight of the edible cocktails, aka Jell-O shots. I had the West Coast Prozac(made with Capri Sun!). My friend had the Gentleman’s Club and my other friend had the Guns and Rose Water mojito. We liked them all. We did not care for the edible cocktails. They were gross. The bartenders were friendly and offered good suggestions. I ordered the Brat in a Blanket and was told they were out. I ordered sliders instead. They weren’t out, so they brought me both(only charging for one, of cours) and they gave us each a shot on the house. Service was great, drinks were good, ambiance was fun.

Lucked out on free street parking — great start to the night. Obviously we had to try the flight of edible cocktails aka fan-see jello shots(3⁄5). We committed to this with the attitude that you know you’re over-paying, but you just gotta! These are nice for a mini-celebration, we treated E who just finished taking her optometry boards. Or to try at least once. Taking into consideration that she took really small bites(to make it worth it) vs swallowing the whole thing, her favorite was the caramel apple(as opposed to the gummy bear(sour) and peach(tasted like a non-alcoholic piece of peach jello). Now on to the food! Dirty nachos(4⁄5) — you can sub out the tortilla chips for fries, awesome :). topped with blue cheese and tender little cubes of pork — I usually don’t like cherry tomatoes, but they were a nice complement. Pretzel bread sticks(3⁄5) — same consistency as bread sticks(which I personally don’t like). Fish tacos(4⁄5) — they were too spicy for E. But man, despite that, I really liked them. I really appreciate how the fish to slaw ratio was 1:1 and there was no double corn tortillas. Something I would definitely recommend to someone who can take the heat. Really didn’t encounter a snobby crowd — although I can see how that can happen because everyone has to share communal tables. Don’t go on the weekends late at night or for Sunday Funday? I opted to order my normal gin and soda(nice and stiff), so can’t say much about their mason jar specials. Wine and beer selection looked standard, nothing crazy. What a nice dinner on a random Wednesday night.

I came here for a Funday Sunday with a group. I feel like I need to check the place out again to get a better feel for this place, so I’ll keep the first review brief… I thought the edible cocktail menu and food was amazing. I tried the hush puppies and 2 different edible cocktails(see photos). That being said, I didn’t really care for the uppity atmosphere when it came to the music and the clientele. There was a DJ and extremely loud music, but I’m hoping that’s just a Funday Sunday thing. If I come have a beverage with friends after work on a weekday, I have no desire to hear that kind of music. I totally agree with other reviewers about the $ 7 valet. If you are going to open a bar in a strip center, the lack of parking is YOUR fault. Not mine. If you want me to come to your bar give me free valet, or else I’ll just go somewhere else.

Hot new trendy bar in midtown. Outdoor patio, walk inside with multiple bars island station. We were here Friday night, opening weekend. Very crowded the bartenders are super busy. Try the Jell-O shots aka edible flights 4 for 20. Drinks in mason jars. The bartender recommended lux lemon and that’s my jam. Small selection of beers as well as wine is available. Small plates tapas style range from 5 – 7 dollars. Multiple TVs to catch a game, acc tourney time! Opening weekend is busy and loud but what good bar isn’t?
