This place is beautiful and relaxing. I’ve been many times and the food is usually great. That line for Sunday brunch though is brutal and ultimately, not really worth it. The last time I was there, the food was awful. My burger was so overcooked I didn’t eat it. When the staff came to remove the plates, they didn’t seem at all concerned that only one tiny bite had been taken out of that charred burger patty. :(

As soon as you walk through the gate you know this is a place you want to spend the day. It’s so beautiful and relaxing. We were there for dinner. The food was delicious and fresh. The only reason I’m giving it just 3 stars is because the waitstaff was uneven. Ours not the best but the table next to us was excellent. My friend, who is a regular there and known by some of the waitstaff said it was not typical. We will definitely be back

Very nice, great design but expensive. $ 19 salad all inclusive and $ 5 tea… NOT full service but they still invite you to leave 18%/20%/25% tip, even after waiting 15 minutes in line… So great spot but you know for the rest.

I love the layout of this place. I didn’t spend to much time in the indoor area, but the outside has a very nice patio layout. The tables are set along the side with open spaces of grass and a plant nursery not too far by. It’s a great place to sit and sip some coffee when the weather is nice outside. When I came, I got the breakfast pizza, mint lemonade, and finished with the infamous chocolate chip cookie. The breakfast pizza was incredibly salty. I went with a friend and ordered two different pizzas — and both were very salty. The mint lemonade had a very nice flavor. The refills are free(they have dispensers at the different drink areas, self serve). The chocolate chip cookie was very good — crisp on the outside with gooey chocolate goodness. I would’ve given 5 stars if not for the mediocre entrée and having to stand in line. You have to order first at the counter, and they don’t take reservations so you just have to wait in line. It gets a bit crowded on weekends and parking can be a little confusing. I would probably come back just for the lemonade and cookie — but maybe not on the weekend.

Cookies and outdoor seating got me like ughh. I’ve been here for dinner and brunch. Both experiences were top notch. My most recent meal was a 4 hr brunch on a Saturday. Food was made to specifications. I had the just beet it burger without the bun — great flavor. They serve delicious cocktails(sangria, mojito, mimosa) while you wait in line to order at the counter. The wait can be a bit ridiculous for brunch but it’s worth it when you have great company.

Such a cute place! At first turning in the street, I thought I was going to a neighborhood, but there was tiny boxwood right when you turn in the street! I came here for dinner with my friend, but would love to come again for brunch! The place is so cute and the atmosphere is so warming.

Be prepared to spend a little extra then usual for their brunch. Customer service was great, food was great, weather was terrible but still had a great time! Dog friendly, open bar, and hopefully the next time I come they will have their chai lattes in stock! The Days Pastry Board: Average. I expected more flavor from the bread selection and butter. Ask for the pastries fresh! Potato and Egg Pizza: I added bacon, it was AMAZING!!! Tinys buffalo burger: Average, the buffalo meat could use some more flavor.

Tiny Boxwood’s is where I want to go when it’s dark and stormy and I want to warm myself up with a latte or when I want to enjoy a beautiful day with a white wine mojito on the gorgeous lawn; it’s always perfection! Houston has many good restaurants, but few where the food, ambiance and service are all so dreamy!

We came here for lunch on Friday around 11. We were actually hoping for breakfast, but they stop serving breakfast at 11, when they start serving lunch. So I guess our meal turned into a late breakfast, early lunch. Either way… It took a while for us to find parking, even at the extra«lot» down the street(I should mention that it’s just a gravel lot. I drive an SUV, but I could see a small car having difficulty driving on it). We ended up parking on the street and walking to the restaurant. When we got to the restaurant, the line was already long, and it moved very, very slowly. The first thing that came to mind when I saw the ordering counter is that they have plenty of room to add another register to speed up the ordering process. One super obnoxious thing about the line is that the restrooms and entrance to the kitchen are in front of the ordering counter, so for those in line, it’s a constant struggle of moving out of the way in a tight space, trying to make room for those going to the restroom or restaurant employees juggling tons of dirty dishes. It was also super annoying that there are no prices on the menu. Seriously? This isn’t some super fancy restaurant, and the check shouldn’t come as a surprise or shock to your customers. I think it is safe to assume $ 20 per person, without any alcohol. The menu is very small, and I don’t think there’s enough diversity or choices in the menu options. It really comes down to either a salad or sandwich. We got the Frenchman sandwich and a buffalo burger. Both were just OK but not not necessarily«good» in any way and certainly not worth coming back to the restaurant for. The only thing going for this restaurant is the atmosphere and patio. It was a bit warm when we were there, and we were able to get a table outside in the shade, so that certainly helped. One thing I found helpful was that after we ordered, a hostess asked us if we wanted to sit inside or outside, and she helped us find a table. Places like this can get annoying when there’s such a long line of people waiting and all the tables seem full. It makes me nervous lol, but it was nice that there was someone to help. There were 2 – 3 hostesses, and they spent a good amount of time talking to each other and laughing, not really doing anything until it was time to help someone find a table. I did witness something absolutely disgusting while we were here. When the orders were ready, the dishes were placed on a high counter. One of the employees had a towel that she used to clean the sides of the dishes with to improve the dish presentation. I saw the towel drop on the floor at least TWICE, and she just picked it up, put it right back on the counter, and kept using the same towel to clean other dishes. Keep in mind that these are prepared plates of food ready to go out to the tables! This restaurant is most definitely overrated. I would definitely not come back for the food, but I might come back on a cooler day to better enjoy the patio for a cup of coffee and maybe some pastries. The atmosphere is really cool, and my husband and I just sat there for a good long time talking.

Overrated is the first word that comes to mind. In summary the level of service and the quality of food is not worth what they charge. I have had better at less expensive restaurants. When I pay $ 60 for two people to eat(no alcoholic beverages), I have pretty high expectations for quality and the experience. I was definitely disappointed. Read on if you want more detail. My boyfriend and I were looking for some where new for brunch. We had some trouble with finding parking, but since it was the weekend this was to be expected. The restaurant itself was beautiful. I think the ambiance is why it’s popular. The only reason I can see myself ever going back is to enjoy good weather on their patio. We waited in a pretty long line that went outside the building, on a hot humid day. Again, it was Saturday brunch so that’s to be expected. When we finally got inside the restaurant the menu had no prices. We knew it was expensive, but the fact that they had no prices anywhere was a bit annoying. We were 3rd in line to order, and I decided to sit down. I was immediately approached by an employee who told me I couldn’t sit until we had a number — mind you there was plenty of space. She made me feel like a criminal. Another woman who had sat down without an order number, was completely looked over by the hostess, probably because she had a baby, but if you are going to make one customer feel less than stellar, you had better be consistent especially right in front of said customer. When we finally got our number we went to sit, and the same employee chased us down yet again, and asked if we wanted inside or outside. We were already trying to sit at a table inside, so we said yes and she said ok. After observing restaurant operations, I believe she was supposed to be a hostess, but she was too busy talking to other employees that she was often having to chase down customers to seat them in an awkward way, rather than greeting them appropriately. There were also many people who just sat themselves when she wasn’t around. I don’t necessarily think they need a hostess for a setup like this, as that whole process seemed very disorganized and unexpected. On top of this, we had to serve ourselves our own coffee and water. Finally the food and $$$. The food was good, but not amazing. We paid over $ 60 for 2 entrees, some pastries, and coffees. I have no problem paying good money for food, but I expect it to be great. So we paid $ 60 for good(but not amazing) food and no service. Meh!

I came here at noon on a Friday to grab lunch. Granted, the restaurant is absolutely beautiful inside and out, the service is good, but the food doesn’t deliver the same hype everything else does. The line was long and moved quickly. I ordered the winter salad and honestly, it sounded good on paper but it was measly at best. Not enough protein, not enough veggies. I left hungry. My friend got the steak salad which looked a little more substantial but it was drenched in dressing, so much to the point it was soggy. I get it, the ingredients are quality and the restaurant itself is high-end, but almost $ 20 for a lunch salad that left me hungry? Not worth it.

Probably more of a 4.5, but I’ll round up because I’m a sucker for how beautiful this place is. This place is best just as it opens when it’s still cool outside and the sun is just peeking at the wall of flowers. The day is just beginning, and you are sitting among white flowers with white linens on your wooden table outside. The courtyard is open to your picking because you came here first. Some of my favorites: Mint lemonade and a plate of eggs. Hot black coffee with a cinnamon bun covered in frosting. A fresh bowl of fruit, granola and honey over yogurt. Best post early morning work out reward… If I ever were to do that. Definitely a post-call reward, if you do that kind of thing. Honestly wins my vote of places to take friends visiting from out of town I think.

A friend and I decided to try this place for lunch one beautiful thursday afternoon since we had both bookmarked this restaurant on Unilocal.Parking wasn’t an issue for us as there is an extra lot around the back and we were able to find a spot right away. First impression of the atmosphere was«Wow, we just stepped into a Tommy Hilfiger ad» because the other patrons looked so preppy and fresh, along with the restaurant décor. There were lots of families scattered around the outdoor garden of the restaurant. The garden is beautiful surrounded by flowers and birds chirping around our table, that we found ourselves. We must have come right before rush hour because there wasn’t much of a line either. I ordered the steak salad and she ordered the frenchman, with 2 red wine sangria’s. The steak salad tasted amazing. I am craving the peanut dressing they splashed onto greens mixed with the sweetness of the mangos and heartiness of the steak. Ugh, it was so good. My friend commented that she liked her frenchman sandwich and could only finish one half of hers that she took home with her. The sangrias were a GREAT idea because it was so refreshing and sweet, it did not taste like wine to me. I probably could have had 3 more, but I stopped myself. The menu is pricey! Anyways, I would definitely come back here again, but not if it’s at a crowded time. The food was good, but not to wait in line for. I think a random weekday afternoon trip was a perfect way to enjoy this restaurant and its gorgeous garden.

I like this place overall. We ordered the beef(.black — I forgot the name) and gulf coast. I would prefer the gulf coast though as I didn’t really enjoy the cheese with beef. Presentation was nice. No complimentary cookies. You should expect 20 mins wait. We sat out side to cut down the wait time but it was rather chilly. The secondary parking was dark with little lighting. You will have to be careful when you walk back to the restaurant.

Be ready to drop some dough at this place! I easily spent $ 40ish for 4 items: Salmon Provencal — 5⁄5. The vinaigrette was the . It definitely complimented the salmon and the seasoning used. Major flavortown up in there! The salmon was nice and moist and went well with the greens included. Not too salty so that’s a plus for sure as my family tends to have a history of hypertension and my taste buds are a bit sensitive when it comes to that particular taste. A side of fresh fruit — 3⁄5. Mediocre compared to the rest of the dishes, but I mean it’s fruit so alright. I wasn’t expecting too much as I had just ordered this side in case that I didn’t get full with just the salmon. There was a variety of pineapple, orange, grapes, apples and watermelon. It seemed fresh enough; however, I would’ve preferred a sweeter taste as it seemed some of the pieces were sour. Blueberry Scone — 5⁄5. Good size to munch on most def. It took me awhile to finish, but I did it nonetheless. The whipped topping that came with it OMG so good. I don’t even know what it was, but Lord was it delicious. Sweet but not too sweet with a bit of a citrus tang. The scone itself wasn’t too shabby as well. Moist and delicious. I do not regret stuffing my face with this pastry. Mimosa — 4⁄5. Points off for the serving size. The mimosa was delicious, don’t get me wrong, with a great flavor, but man it was a tiny little thing… or maybe I’m just an alcoholic. As for the atmosphere, I would say you get your money’s worth. It had a cute little patio style going on with plenty of seating to go around. The line to order though is a bit discouraging at times as it does run outside but it goes by fairly quickly. TLDR; is it worth the money that people are saying you will blow? I would say yes for the food and the ambiance.

This is such a lovely place to go for brunch. This place reminds me of a small café in France. There is a garden outside and you can walk around and look at the pretty plants they have outside. I love the salmon salad!

Zero star for the wait and service. 3.5 star for the food, average 2 star; actually a little less but we’re being generous. (Detail) We came late(around 11:40am) so the line was ridiculously long. Wait was an hour plus. Tried to secure a seat, but the hostess stared down my friend and made her feel super uncomfortable(we were third in line to order and sit) then went over to her and told her she couldn’t sit until we ordered. Mother and child sat down at the same table(husband still in line), but doesn’t say anything to her; goes over and offers to put his drinks down at the table. Fairly understandable, she has a child, we didn’t. But the hostess didn’t have the courtesy to come over and be like, ‘I’m sorry I can’t allow you to save your seat. She has a child so we made an exception.’ Which I would have been fine with. Finally ordered and sat down(all of the other reviews that talk about the staff having no sense of urgency is completely true). Two of my friends got glasses with ice, two didn’t. We asked the same hostess who talked to my friend before for two water glasses, and she came back with two small, and I emphasize small, empty cups(which is their usual water cup). The couple who sits down right next to us, the hostess gets them the tall glass and fills their cups with water before bringing it to the table, what?! Our order comes out, I ordered the Buffalo burger without Bleu cheese(if you’re not a fan, I recommend opting out of the Bleu cheese) and it was delicious. Another ordered the house migas, she said it was OK, the tomatillo sauce was a weird flavor; she wouldn’t order it again. Another ordered the bacon and egg pizza, she doesn’t recommend unless you love feta cheese, it’s all over. The last girl ordered the Buffalo burger as well, but her fries came out burnt and inedible. One reviewer called this place pretentious and unaccommodating, also true. I’ll also add rude to the list.

First impression: I felt grown up walking in and eating here… Like an adult with a reasonable disposable income. Which isn’t necessarily the case, but it was nice to pretend. The menu was sophisticated, and the cooking supported it. My wife had the steak salad which was dressed really well with a delicious peanut sauce. The steak seared just right. I had the buffalo burger which was honestly standard fair, but cooked to my liking and with good flavor. And of course, the chocolate chip cookie. I was in a polo and chino shorts pretending to be high class, but drooling over this perfect cookie. Damn. Surreal. Know that this place is a splurge. But it comes with great service. A great scene to enjoy as it sits in a nursery, you know the kind that sells trees. Literally, a garden view.

I can’t help but LOL at the«ladies who lunch», because it is 100% accurate. But I’d be lying if I said this place wasn’t good. It’s delicious, and you really can’t beat the gorgeous patio on a nice day. This is a very River Oaks-meets-Desperate Housewives environment. But like others mentioned, I wouldn’t say it’s pretentious — Just noticeable. This definitely isn’t the place to come if you’re looking for a quick bite — This is a very relaxed, nonchalant crowd who has at least an hour and a half to dine and maybe have a cocktail or two. Finding a table isn’t impossible, but if you want to sit outside on a sunny day, plan to get here a little earlier than the masses. The line is pretty long during lunch but nothing crazy — Brunch is served until 11 and lunch is served until 3PM. I’ve been here for both breakfast and lunch and have really enjoyed both! On my last visit, I went for the Frenchman sandwich(no olives) and fries. The frenchman comes on french bread and comes with chicken, goat cheese, sundreid tomato, and and arugula. And of course, I had to get a chocolate chip cookie. Their cookies… I don’t think anyone can say enough about them. These are the prototype of a chocolate chip cookie: perfectly browned on the outside, and freshly baked, warm, and gooey on the inside. Literally melts in your mouth, and you’ll want about 3 to yourself after the first bite. Get some to go for sure.
