I’m surprised there are only 2 reviews on Unilocal!I like working out with UMove. Think all the strength building of bootcamp but you’re running around like a kid! It’s cool to do this as a coached activity so that an expert can help you build the skills up to achieve a cool move and do it safely. I have a blast every time I go, and I would recommend this to my friends. Also they have a huge variety of classes everything from women’s to kids, and it’s also a cool new way to experience Tranquility park downtown.

I have attended two classes thus far and have immensely enjoyed the fact that the instructors are familiarizing me with a plethora of challenges. I am very active in a variety of sports and love fitness, so I’m pretty excited to add parkour to my list of activities. For me, it’s not a strenuous sport and instead improves my mentality when approaching new challenges and testing limits. I enjoy attending classes at Urban Movement for this reason because I am positive they will translate to other sports, as well as everyday problem solving. Urban Movement offers a very positive atmosphere as they take on students of all ages, both male and female, and any fitness level. I love the idea that parkour requires only two things, your body, and the environment around you. Can’t wait to update more when I try the outdoor classes :)

Though I’ve had the good fortune to meet all four directors of Urban Movement, each with a great passion and commitment to wellness and community, I have only really had the opportunity to experience Dakao Do’s instruction firsthand. This is man dedicated not only to his students’ physical improvement, but also their holistic understanding of movement. In both parkour and longsword instruction, he explains movement in a simple, intuitive way, and later expands on whys and wherefores behind the movement. But don’t think that training will be filled with talk. Training sessions keep you moving, explore your limits and push them a little further, each building on previous knowledge. His vast experience in teaching allows him to quickly scale any lesson to a level appropriate to your own abilities. More than anything else, I am floored by all four directors’ genuine caring and passion. It’s not too much to call the community they’re building a family. It’s clear from their warmth that they love what they do and want to share it with others. The folks at Urban Movement will treat you right.
