Food, fun and entertainment are delicately balanced for a lovely meal at Hagane. I would definitely recommend it as a place to bring visiting relatives who may be seeking a very unique dining experience. And if course, Hagane is a welcomed treat for native New Yorkers as well.

This is the best sushi spot in Howard Beach, for sure! The price is very fair, and the staff are extremely warm :) I also go for the Pink Lady or TIGER rolls! The manage to add fish & flavor variety in their special rolls. The food always looks fresh, especially the hibachi dinners!

Great food and service. I have a gluten allergy and they catered to me and made my food sauce less and it was still delicious! The food came out quick and the chef put on the good show. The restaurant was clean. The restroom as well. My family of 4, two being under the age of 5, would definitely go again! Great local spot for Howard Beach and south east Brooklyn.

The hibachi here is good. Good taste and flavor. Can’t complain. Not my favorite hibachi restaurant but a great local place to eat near me. Overall the food and customer service is excellent. Also the prices are great compared to others.

We came back again. the food is good. It’s fresh and made on the spot. It taste pretty good. They screwed up again and gave fried rice when we asked for white rice. Again, the mandatory tip it’s on the receipt. So when I give $ 50 bill, I won’t get the proper change back cuz they just take what they want as they expect their tip. Is this appropriate to have a mandatory tip.

I loved this place so much. I went for the sushi, not the haibachi. The rolls used to be delicious. The past two times I ate here the food has tasted old. Sushi is the last thing you’d want to eat when it’s not fresh. I love kani(crab) salad. The kani salad here used to be fantastic. Lately it’s as if they put Helmans mayonnaise in with crab… disgusting. The past few times it was so inedible I had to throw the salad out. Everything tasted like it had been left out from old ingredients. Overall it seems this place has started cutting costs drastically; in doing so they’ve definitely lost quality as well. My rating is purely for the service, which has always been pleasant. Unfortunately, I highly doubt I’ll be coming back. Stale, soggy sushi utterly destroys the cuisine.

I have been here a few times and each time is just a yummy! The hibachi guys always put on a good show. There are not too many grills here(just 4) compared to some other places, but each time we’ve gone there hasn’t been too long of a wait to get seated. They also have an upstairs section with regular seating for those who do not want hibachi. I recommend the hibachi filet and scallops or the filet and lobster. Also recommend the shrimp shumai as an appetizer.

I recommend this place. It’s cozy and very simple. The food is delicious and not too pricy. Very friendly staff and very clean. Great place for a night out and is also fun for kids.

I’ve been here multiple times, always for hibachi. I can tell this is a great place. There’s a small parking lot at the side, but street parking(more towards the inside of the corner streets) are free and always there. The food is good, and trust me I’ve been to other hibachi places where it was just okay. I’m not sure why the other reviewer said the miso soup or salad wasn’t great. It was good every single time I’ve been for birthdays and dates. They are consistent. The servers are super nice, every time I went. They answered my questions nicely. They were always smiling with us or in a good mood at least. The chef’s performance was decent, I’ve learned to expect that these guys have to put on the same show over and over. But they are nice people. As for the hibachi, it is better than most hibachi restaurants I’ve visited. That’s subjective to your taste, but I can say its at least good also. The salmon is always good. California rolls are good too. My recommendation is to try the Japanese soda!!! This place introduced me to it. I can’t believe some guy below complained that it was room temperature, but I suppose you should know that. Like come on. The regular flavor is my favorite and taste so so good. It’s like a light soda. If you want something cold, try the Mango slush!!! So awesome and made fresh for you. Make reservations for a big party as sometimes they get full only having I think like 4 hibachi stations downstairs and a sushi bar upstairs. But most of the time its not super full and we just walk in and end up having the whole table to ourselves 2⁄3 times.

We were there last week on New Year’s Day — thoroughly enjoyed the lovely sushi and sashimi dinners. Our son loved the hibachi salmon dinner. Service was excellent, and the upstairs seating was comfortable. Next time we will definitely try the downstairs hibachi with a larger group.

This review is from September. I bought a $ 25 certificate to eat here with my mom. I live in the neighborhood but don’t like too many places around here. Since my mom wanted to eat local I decided to give this place a try using the discount. If we liked it, we would be back! On to the meal, the food itself was good albeit a bit salty. I ordered a thai iced tea which tasted like milk. It did not taste like a thai iced tea at all. My mom ordered a passion fruit slush and loved it! We each ordered the scallops and salmon hibachi plate. The soup was okay. The salad is lettuce with a couple of thin slices of carrot with a delicious ginger dressing. The noodles were salty and boring. The rice was fine. The veggies, scallops and salmon were good but a little too salty for my taste. They give you hefty portions that I could not finish. Word to the wise, cut down on the salt! The chef did not do the usual entertainment that I have been accustomed to in other establishments. My mom tipped him anyway. Dessert is not included. I informed the waitress when we arrived about the certificate. When we completed our dinner, a waiter brought our bill. I informed him of the certificate and he gave me a dirty look. I showed him my phone and he took it with him. He went to the front and picked up the phone and started doing other things. After about 8 min, I looked over to see why it was taking so long and he was comfortably talking on the phone. He finally brought my phone back a few minutes later with the bill. I was going to pay with my cc for the meal and leave a cash tip(I don’t like leaving tips on cc because I’m not sure the server gets it). I was about to hand him my cc before he walked away when I saw a 18% mandatory gratuity added on top of the bill. I told him we would be tipping cash and to remove that charge. He gave me another dirty look and walked away. Then a lady came over and told me that since I used a certificate the«computer» automatically added the tip and it was«impossible» to remove. Nothing in life is «impossible». Anyway, I smiled and explained I was going to leave a tip but in cash form. She was rude and said she couldn’t remove it from the bill because I used a certificate. At this point, I was offended. I told her a tip is never mandatory and that if they are going to stigmatize their clients for using the certificate then they shouldn’t offer it at all. I will never return and will warn family and friends as well!

Chose this place as our first time hibachi place. Went around lunchtime(2:30ish) and the place was literally empty — only the two of us were there. Place is clean and and a bit tight. Staff were nice for the most part. They have a lunch special. We ordered the thai iced tea(watered down and distasteful) and the japenese soda(which im a fan of in lychee flavor) — unfortunately they did not have lychee but the regular which ive never tried. Waiter said it’ll taste like spirte — definitely didnt but it was okay. only problem was it was room temperature and later on i asked for a glass of ice. We were given a small bone plate size complimentary salad and miso soup with mushroom — it was bad. For entrees i order the filet mignon and shrimp(outside of the lunch special) and she ordered the chicken, we both had it with fried rice. The Chef came and didn’t seem excited to greet us or entertain us. He began the«show» and had a hard time understanding due to the thick accent of his. He had some cool tricks but it wasn’t enough to overlook the fact that he his facial expressions were dull and seemed he wanted to get it over with. FOODWASBAD — everything was too salty and/or had waaaay too much soy sauce. The fillet mignon was pretty good, i like mine medium, and the chicken was too. Good amount of food but distasteful. Unfortunate for us, our first time wasn’t as exciting as we were, and the food made it worse. Sorry but wont come here again.

What an amazing experience. At first i was a little uncertain about this venue because it was a friday and the place was completely empty… by the time i ordered my first drink the rest of my dinner party showed up&‘was seated right away, also other people started coming in. The cook came to us first hence it was a birthday dinner & we had reservations. He was super friendly & soooo entertaining! He made the cooking portion of our meal fun. The food was cooked to each of our preferences & a large amount was given for such an amazing price. Also since it was for my friends birthday they gave dessert(on the house) & sang happy birthday. The only complaints i have is the extremely small parking lot & the fact that this gem of a place is hidden & looks a little run down from outside, but than again you dont judge a book by its cover & this venue is the perfect interpretation of that.

Love this place! You get a lot of good food for a decent price. For 4 people we spent about $ 130. Gratuity is included onto the check, which makes sense because you are getting good service and a some entertainment. I always order the hibachi, chicken and shrimp. The lo mein is delicious, the ginger salad dressing is very delicious and the chicken gets cooked very juicy and tender. Soda and water are refillable. My only complaint would be that a lot and I mean a lot of garlic is used. I burped garlic for an entire day and had a terrible taste in my mouth which is probably understandable because garlic is a very strong seasoning. Also I wish they would change their plates and utensils, they seem very old and worn, some plates even have chips/cracks in them. Other than that it’s a good place.

My family goes to Hagane a few times a year, since my 13 year old son loves it so much. The hibachi is excellent, and the amount of food they serve is more than enough. The chefs are very attentive to their customers and the atmosphere is Ok.

Sushi menu is limited. They did not know what a kani salad, I even explained what is is but they could not make it. They somehow ran out of green tea. The hibachi was good and I was impressed with how the scallops tasted. The rolls were ok but I’m used to a more extensive menu. Not a bad place to visit.

Few things to know, 1. FREEPARKING 2. 4 Hibachi tables. 3. Very cozy hibachi place unlike Arirang.(They will not throw food in your mouth like they do at Arirang) 4. Really good service. 5. Its your typical Hibachi food! They have an upstairs area were if you just wanted sushi you could eat upstairs. It will cost you about 24 dollars for hibachi filet mignon for dinner, it comes with noodles and all the rest of the rice and veggies! I come here every now and then for that intimate hibachi experience!

My husband and i were looking for somewhere cozy yet exciting to have dinner one night when a friend recommended we come here. I’ve never had habachi before and always pictured it ti be like that episode on family matters. I called ahead to see if we had to make reservations but the staff informed me it wasn’t busy at the moment and we could just walk in. Upon arriving i realized it was a bit small but soon after getting seated, small turned into cozy. We were seated with other dinner guest around the(stove top?) Which was nice to get to meet others briefly before the show started. Servers were so friendly, they gave us recommendations and let us know that the chef would be out shortly. We never had to ask for anything as the workers were soo consistent in making sure we had all we needed. The passion fruit drink is a MUSTT! After the nice show it was time to dig in. Talk about flavors! It was really good and huge portions. I barely finished a quarter of my plate. It was also reasonably priced. There are 3 cooking stations and Kids love the fire volcano. For the price its a nice place to come to and you leave feeling happy and full. Can’t wait to go back!
