I have been going to this bakery for many years now and have yet to be disappointed, pastries made fresh daily and the best coffee in town and the girls that work there are always so polite. I would definitely recommend this bakery to anyone.

cannoli, pasticiotto and sfoglitelle, are great when they are fresh but sadly most often items that should be thrown away are sold days after, cannolis crust are soggy, sfoglitelle are crusty and refried and pasticiotte are over refrigerated and begin to solidify, there is no doubt that the baker here is talented, just the management is useless. and the young girls behind the counter have half a brain, if this were my business, i would be behind the counter to ensure quality and productivity were flawless

I had an event in Novemeber and I bought about 30 pastries and a cake from them. One of my guest bit into her pastries and there was a long hair baked into the crust. I gave them another try and bought a cake for my coworker, same problem! There was a hair baked into the cake. And now, for the third time. We purchased yet another cake and of course, there was a long hair bake inside of the cake. How embarrassing! Maybe the health inspector needs to be called!

This bakery accepts cash only. Not a complaint at all, but just know that going in. I was looking for pastries to bring to my cousin in Howard Beach and a Unilocal search yielded La Torre as a good choice. It is a narrow, linear bakery that has traditional Italian cookies, cakes and coffee to stay or go. They have two small tables if you’d like to sit and have a fattening snack. We entered and weren’t greeted so much as acknowledged. No prices are posted anywhere. How do I know we’re being charged appropriately and correctly if nothing is posted? Cookies are $ 10/lb and tasty. Coffee is a $ 1.75 for a large. We had some time to kill and could have stayed and possibly bought more and stayed, the customer service workers were kind of brusque and unwelcoming. The cookies weren’t half bad. We enjoyed them once we got out of there. I also appreciated that the kind of cold woman who packed our cookies wore a glove(nice, clean).

Wanted dessert to go with Starbucks, so checked this place out. They have many options and reasonable prices. $ 1 each for mini pastries. I got the mini canoli, éclair, napoleon, and something I forgot the name of. Also a couple pieces of rainbow and pignoli cookies and chocolate covered macaroon. Everything was fresh and good, with the exception that they were all a lot sweeter than other places. But still a good bakery.

The rainbow cookies are really good and fresh! The cookies are good as well. It was my first time going there girl who took my order was very friendly and patient. So that was a plus. The only thing I had check the reviews before i went and they said they accept credit cards, however they don’t. It’s cash only. But overall it was pretty good I’ll go again!

A pretty good bakery. I liked the rainbow cookies. They put a bit more jelly than most bakeries. The cookies were lighter and a bit less dense than most. I thought the vanilla and chocolate lace cookies were okay. They were a bit too soft for my liking; I prefer more of a crunch. All in all, I’d definitely stop in again.

This spot is awesome; especially if you are looking for some type of assortment of sorts to bring along for a house warming, get together, family event or just for some snacks at home. Its a family business and the girls that are there are polite. Cash only by the way. Enjoy.

I ordered birthday cake for my son’s birthday party last week and it turned out excellent. Highly recommended if you live in Howard Beach. Customer service was very good, and everyone raved about the cake(ours was chocolate sponge, with cannoli and chocolate cream filling).

Been going here since it opened. Best Rainbow cookies and Pingnoli’s in the city. They don’t skimp on ingredients. My Union hall moved, so now I must make special trips to get cookies. John«Da Baker» is the best!

Best cannoli cream I ever tasted. Rainbow cookies to die for! Has to be one of the best Italian bakeries in NYC. Update 6−11−16 I called the owner yesterday, John da Baker and asked he could help me out. I needed a graduation cake big enough for 50 for TODAY! The person responsible for ordering the event cake totally forgot. I expected a laugh. Instead, He asked me what time did I need it for? I couldn’t believe my ears, I was so surprised! I picked the cake up today, what a beautiful job. He really came through. the cake was not only beautiful but absolutely delicious. Everyone loved it! I am uploading a picture of it. John is a real standup guy.

Came in here before I stopped next door to get froyo. I wanted rainbow cookies. At $ 14 a pound I asked if I had to buy the whole pound seeing as how 3 – 4 cookies will satisfy my sweet tooth. To just my luck those cookies really didn’t hit the spot. They were kept in the fridge and therefore cold

This place has really good Italian pastries. I absolutely LOVE their cannoli’s! I used to get them for my staff all the time. I haven’t been there in a while but I will plan a visit there really soon. Highly recommended!!!

Bought an almond paste lamb here for easter and it was bitter. Went to return not looking for my money back just a credit even a loaf of bread and was told that the lamb was supposed to taste bitter. I have been buying the lamb at this place for years and not once has it ever tasted like that. I guess it’s time to take my business elsewhere.

I’m fairly new to the neighborhood and had to come in from the delicious smell outside… It’s fair to say that’s where the good experience ended. As someone who has worked in the customer service field for over a decade, I think this business needs a good lesson in the field. They treated me as though they were so busy to not even look up. They young girls were just standing around looking bored. When I ordered a few cannolis, they asked if I wanted them in a bag or a box and if I wanted sugar on them. I asked for a box and the genius girl shoved them in a bag. I tried the place a second time to be fair. This time I wasn’t given the option of a bag or a box or sugar. I know it sounds silly, but do you really want to pay for something you have to scrape off the edges of a paper bag to enjoy? As for the pastries, they’re not worth the trouble. All the hype is just that– hot air. I grew up in Long Island and Brooklyn, you can totally find better goodies without the unwelcoming f-you attitude that this place serves up. So thanks so much for the frowning faces, the miserable attitudes, and the sour uninviting looks. If I wanted all of this, I’d just go to the DMV for the day. PS Cash only. Did you really think an archaic shitty establishment would be modern?

Great place for certain authentic italian desserts! They have probably the best lobster tails in NY. Creamy sweet insides of this pastry are almost addictive! Their Napoleon is excellent too! They do a great job with all their pastries along with some specialty cookies that I currently forget the name of but they look a little like powdered golden lady fingers… great with coffee! I can’t remember ever having purchased something that I thought wasn’t either deliscious or had the proper delicate taste of a casual coffee cookie. The only reason I would take a star off is in my experience the girls behind the counter always seemed slightly annoyed at the presence of customers, or maybe customers that aren’t their local friends. I will usually see a random mix of two girls behind the counter who always seemed to have low morale. It has to be some form of repor they have with the owner/baker because it seems they always have it.

Having grown up in Howard Beach, I have been going to Pasticceria since I was old enough to walk the Boulevard with my friends. Their cannolis are amazing. Their cookies are delicious. I love their cassata cake. Back in the day they used to make a Sicilian cake that was so good it could bring tears to your eyes. Their Italian pastries are delicious and fresh. This place is a Howard Beach staple!
