I’ve shopped at this store since it first opened. It is a smaller Michael’s, but it usually has everything I need. It’s selling point is it’s custom framing department. One of the staff members, Donna, has been there forever and really knows her job. She has an amazing eye for matching mats and frames with artwork. Three years ago, my father-in-law passed away. I brought in an old photograph of him that was taken on Okinawa during WWII. She did a wonderful job. She chose Marine colors for the matting and the name plate. It was beautiful and an incredible tribute to the man. I met Ryan for the first time today. He’s been there two years. I had purchased some inexpensive frames. When I got home, I realized that I hadn’t a clue how to get the backs off. I brought them back to the store Ryan took the backs off and helped me mat them. He saved me an incredible amount of time and he was so patient. The store’s staff is always friendly. I’m never afraid to ask a question and they are always willing to help.

I love this store much everytime I have been in this store everyone was so nice and accommodating. I have a yarn obsession and they’ve had a couple of back to back unbelievable yarn sales I went nuts buying yarn!!! Today I went in to get some more because they take Hobby Lobby’s coupon so I got 40% off the yarn I needed… since Hobby Lobby doesn’t even price match. The manager Christina is always nice and pleasant which is why I will keep coming back, because the Manalapan employees need prozac. I have also been a customer for the past 3 years so I have made more than 2 trips.

i have been to this location twice within the last few weeks. the first visit was before my sisters funeral, i needed flowers and supplies to make a floral headband for her. the sales associate i dealt with on the floor was very helpful, she is the reason i give 1 star. when i got to the register, two cashiers were ringing. there was a couple of old biddies in the front of the line and a couple behind them. the farther cashier was saying(several times) i’ll take the next customer. as i was walking down closer to them i said very loud and clear(thank you public speaking course) that he would take the next customer. one of the ladies looked me in the face and turned back to her convo. i repeated myself a bit more loudly, no one in line moved. after scanning the line for signs of any takers, i went up to the register with my items. the cashier MATT then told me that i was extremely rude and i wasn’t next in line. he had the worst attitude. i asked him did he just see what happened, no one else was moving. after a minute of going back and forth with the rude young man one of the old ladies rolls over her cart and tells him«oh you can go ahead and take her» i said«no go ahead you were in line first, i’m only here because after i told you he was ready you went back to your convo» she then told me «oh well i was talking» *eye roll* as if her conversation means everyone in line should wait. i was almost furious, but you know i try to do all that namaste peaceful stuff. but really the audacity of MATT to tell me how rude i was?! after i waited for someone to move? umm yeah i was very unhappy with that. skip to about 2 weeks later, i needed to return one of the 9 items i purchased. when i walk in i see a clearance bin with a few goodies. signage says clearance items .50 cents. i grab several items for my niece before i grab one more item from the sales floor. when i go to purchase, of course MATT is the only cashier. does this dude ever smile? bruh you work in a craft store, if you hate your job apply elsewhere. anyway, some of the clearance items rang at .80 and .75 so MATT proceeds to tell me that some of the items ring as low as .15 and up. i explained to him that the signage does not say«CLEARANCE starting at .15» or «CLEARANCE as low as .50» it says«CLEARANCEITEMS .50» on the bin. instead of checking the sign and adjusting the price, he tells me «it’s only .80» which i explained it may be only .80 but the sign says .50 and that’s what i expect to pay. again with the rudeness. general unhappy energy and horrible customer service when he acted as if it was brain surgery for him to change the price when i watched that it took about 6 seconds. also my niece threw some hello kitty thing in the cart i explained to him i would not like to purchase the item, and asked him to remove it after he continued to scan it and bag it(after i asked him not to) he acted as if i had ruined his whole day. gosh, i have never experienced such horrible service in a micheal’s store anywhere, i will definitely NOT return to this one ever and will think twice before shopping at michael’s in general seeing as their HR/hiring manager found MATT fit to provide customer service at the last touch point of the retail experience.
