They are no longer in business. I felt like it was imminent when their marquee signs were turned backwards a few months ago.

The is a clean, welcoming, family-friendly place with plenty of seating. The staff was looked like school kids but they were efficient and friendly enough, so I had no qualms about them handling my food. They were busy cleaning the dining area when they weren’t taking and filling food orders at their registers. The food came out quickly. I ordered a catfish Po boy and a piece of pecan pie to go. The food was inexpensive and the quality was on par with the price. My belly is full and I have no complaints at all. One last thought, if you order to-go, be sure to request plasticware and condiments because the folks that work there don’t included them when they bag your food or offer them to you… and otherwise they are nowhere to be found.(The photo of condiments near the drink station is misleading.)

I would give this place negative stars if I could. The issue here may be because it is operated by kids. Wow the food here is a greasy hot mess and the seating was so dirty. I’m surprised that it is rated 3 stars honestly. But hey if your idea of a good meal is over fried yet raw fish center food — head on over.

Good quality cornmeal-breaded fried catfish place in the Humble/Atascocita area. Also offer grilled/blackened if you’re not into the fried thing. Fried shrimp are also good, as well as the batter-dipped onion rings and fried pickles. Though the address is on FM1960 E, this place is way in the back of the shopping center and closest to Atascocita Rd., You’ll have better luck spotting it if you approach it from the Atascocita Rd. side.

Great food, great prices. Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The fish and friend pickles are to die for!

I have always had incredibly fond memories of coming to the catfish café. When I was younger it was my fathers favorite place to go, and what can I say, the place grew on me. It’s a tad on the expensive side but their catfish and shrimp are delicious. Everyone who works there is also so friendly and welcoming. If you’re looking for a good, family friendly place to eat some simple seafood at, this is your place!

The food is actually good and would be a four-star but when they run out of a product before 5:00pm that just shows poor planning and preparation on their part. When it’s two visits in a row they have this happen… well maybe it’s time for me to try their competition next time I’m looking for seafood.

I like to get takeout from here from time to time when I am on this side of town. It’s a bit of a dive joint. They definitely are satisfied with their décor and don’t seem to want to modernize it. So just know it will look like a dive. There is an old school big box TV in there. Don’t know if they play sports on it. I’ve only seen bad talk shows and the news on it. Then again, I always get takeout. Over time, I have learned to order my catfish«well done». That way I can get a nice, consistently crunchy crust on the fish. I have also learned to specify to NOT cook the fries well done. The first time I ordered well done, everything was well done and I don’t want my fries cooked hard. Their fried green tomatoes are also great. Yes, when you order food to-go here, please know that they will probably not give you plastic wear or tarter sauce or seafood sauce. You have to get your own. But it’s right there at the counter when you pay for and pick-up your takeout clear as day, so it shouldn’t be a big deal. But don’t expect them to do it for you. They’re just deep frying stuff and DASSIT!

We like it. Polite, sweet kids running the place every time we come. Always so-so busy so seems to be a local fav maybe. Our 15 year old’s fav fish place for sure . Only prob: needs a good scrubbing and cleaning, ceiling tiles need replacing.

I was afraid to try the food because the place was so discussing. Almost all of the tables were not clean. The bathroom was gross. I can’t believe I still tried the food and of course I was disappointed. I will never go again and that’s to bad because I live down the street and love fried fish.

Stopped in for lunch today. I have not been here in over a year, and thought we should try it again… Nothing special here, had fish, fries, onion rings, fried pickles, fried okra. nothing outstanding at all. Wish it was better…

Please don’t waste your precious time coming here. There are ants and roach infestation! They took forever to bring my food. While I was waiting i over heard management screaming at the staff! Very unprofessional and Physco owner is on drugs. Never ever coming here! Take you business else where.

With so many new seafood restaurants opening in the area, I figured I should give a shot to one of the more established fish joints. The reviews weren’t great, so my expectations weren’t high going in, but I tried to have an open mind anyway. Perhaps I shouldn’t have… I ordered the fried shrimp basket. It comes with fries, hushpuppies, and a choice of side — I selected fried green tomatoes, because I nurse a soft spot for them. So when my baskets arrived I faced a fried feast of artery-clogging provisions. The fries were hot, but fairly mediocre, a bit too thick to be properly cripsy, but not a deal breaker if the rest was great. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. The shrimp did not taste at all fresh, and the batter was thick, cakey, and flavorless — a major let down. I could only eat two before giving up on the rest. Their saving grace was the fried green tomatoes, which had a thin, crisp cornmeal breading, definitely edible, but not a meal on their own. Considering I didn’t finish anything except for the three hushpuppies, I’d say it was a waste of $ 10, and I definitely won’t be going back. Next time I want fried fish I’ll be hitting up Fish Tales instead.

Location: You can see the sign shopping center sign from FM1960, but you have to drive on the side of the shopping center to locate Catfish Café. Inside: My first impression of Catfish Café when I walked in was that it was a fairly clean yet small place. You could see the kitchen from the counter and probably from every table in the room. They have the ketchup, tartar sauce and cocktail sauce all sitting on the counter for they customers to help themselves. Some were in containers for to go orders and there were large pumps for dining in. I thought that was a little odd, because I thought those things should be kept cold. The décor was plain, but there was plenty of seating for to go orders to wait. I’m a HUGE«restroom» person. The restroom at a restaurant says a lot about how the manager prioritizes things and how much pride they have in their location. A clean and sanitary restroom without paper all over the floor and a cleaning log says they care about what customers think about the establishment. I’m the person that goes to the manager if there is a problem with the restroom or I will just leave. Lucky for them, I did not have to go, since I was just ordering to go. Staff: The young lady(maybe 16 – 18 yrs old) at the counter was very nice, but did not have any knowledge of the menu ATALL! Every question I asked her, she had to turn around to ask one of the cooks. The entire staff all actually looked like they were no older than 21 years old. Food: i ordered the Half Platter for $ 9.49 to go, where you get 3 piece catfish, 5 shrimp, fries, another side and 2 hushpuppies. It all comes fried, but I got mine grilled with the lemon pepper seasoning and 2 orders of green beans, which is an option. I didn’t wait long for my food, maybe 10 minutes. The portion of food you get for the price is definitely not what you would expect. When they say catfish«pieces», that’s exactly what they mean. They looked like they cut on catfish fillet in 4 – 6PIECES and the shrimp were also extremely small. The lemon pepper flavor was not really there. It seemed as though they missed a few PIECES. It all fit in a dessert to go box with the hushpuppies, that were no soggy by the way, because my seafood was grilled. The green beans were in a separate container and they simply tasted like canned green beans that were heated without any extra flavoring. Overall, I will only go back to this place if all the places around it were closed and I was extremely hungry. Otherwise, a bowl of cereal would satisfy me a little more.

You would think if u order a to go family spread they would include plastic ware tartar and ketchup in the bag. Every other fish place I’ve frequented does. So I call inquire. No u have to get it on ur own. What if this is your first order and u don’t know? It should all be packed in the bag come on people!!!

I’ve eaten here four or five times now and I really want to like these guys, but I just don’t. Sorry. It’s not the service, everyone that I’ve dealt with there has been professional and on the ball. It’s the food. I LOVE fried shrimp and catfish. I could eat it every single day. And that’s really the only thing I’ve ever ordered from this location, so this is really a review of their shrimp and catfish. However, I find their breading too heavy and kinda flavorless, and they cook the catfish too long, it is on the way to becoming jerky. If it were me, I’d lighten up the breading — a LOT — and decrease the cooking time a little. It would also help if they used full filets and not ‘tenderloins”(as much as a fish can have a tenderloin). I’m sure I’ll go back, hopefully I can bump up this review in the future, but right now I just can’t.

I have been here a couple of times for lunch. They make a nice Po Boy sandwich. Catfish is really good. So is the cole slaw. Place was clean. Prices are hit or miss. $ 9.99 for a bowl of Gumbo? Other items are more reasonably priced. I will eat there again.

Some items were great — fried shrimp had a crispy light batter, fried crawfish tasty as well. Not sure if we arrived when the air conditioner had died, but it was HOT! A bit dirty — floors and sticky tables.

If you want to order an entire meal made up of fried things, eat at Catfish Café. You may have a heart attack but at least you’ll be full after a yummy meal. This place has great fried catfish and awesome fried okra — seriously good okra. Just writing about the okra makes me want to drive to Atascocita to order some. The fried chicken strips were good but kind of strange since they were battered in catfish batter. The fries are just so-so and honestly, I really can’t imagine ordering french fries when every other part of the meal is fried as well… but each to his own. I do like that Catfish Café is a small little mom and pop joint and that you can call in an order and it pick up.
