I had an encounter with the GM that might explain the poor management and service issues below. My son checked into this hotel tonight and I tried to reach him on the phone in his room because his phone had died. Tim, the GM, said that he could not transfer calls unless I know the room number! What!?! That’s completely backwards and mixed up. Now I can’t give a guests name and ask what room he/she is in(that would be a violation of privacy). I also can’t be transferred if all I have is a room number and I don’t know the name(that would be a violation of security). However,(and I have decades of hotel management experience), there is absolutely nothing wrong with someone asking for a guest by name and being transferred to their room! This GM is not qualified in any way to manage a hotel and so the lack of service training and housekeeping issues are not surprising at all!

I stayed here because I am a State of Texas employee and receive a discounted rate at the Wyndham brand family of hotels(of which Super 8 is a part). The hotel is conviently located close to Intercontinental Airport. When walking through the entrance to the hotel you are overcome with a strong perfume scent. This scent permeates the property — including the rooms — and gave me a headache. Check-in was relatively quick and easy. My room was spacious and had been renovated recently, however the carpet was stained and I noticed the bottom of my socks turned brown/black from walking on it by the end of the evening. The bed was hard but satisfactory. Pillows were satisfactory. Bed linens had some old stains on them and there was what appeared to be several flakes of black dirt under the sheets. The bathroom had marble countertops and a nice sized shower. However the cleaning staff don’t appear to be properly trained in how to clean a room. There were curly hairs along the base of the bathtub, around the base of the toilet ANDONTHELEDGEOFTHEBATHTUBNEXTTOTHEBATHMATANDWASHCLOTH. I have posted photos of the hairs here on Unilocal.I can get past the strong perfume smell but the fact that when they clean the bathrooms their cleaning process leaves hair in the corners and under the toilet from previous guests disgusts me. I guess you get what you pay for in the end… I’ve stayed at Wyndham hotel resort destinations before and it’s hard to believe that Wyndham allows their franchisees to turn a hotel into a Petri dish. At breakfast the waffle batter had run out and when I asked the front desk about it I was told«yes yes we will replace it». I came back an hour later and it still had not been replaced, so I went to the front desk again and ask and was told«it just ran out. You should have come earlier. Breakfast end in 15 minute». Somehow I don’t have great faith in the honesty of the front desk staff.

I stayed here while recently completing two half marathons in the Houston area. The hotel was descent and all of the front desk personnel I met provided good service. I did not have a rental car and the front desk was helpful in ordering a cab for me when I wanted one, even pre-arranging it for the next morning’s run. If you are without a car there is not much in the area to do: two gas stations, Sonic, Waffle House, and Jack in the Box. There is a large mall about a mile and a half away, which I did walk to once, but the town does not take kindly to walkers so I would not recommend doing that. The hotel offers a free continental breakfast in the morning, has regular shuttle service to the airport every hour on the half-hour, and does have free Wi-Fi(although it was frequently intermittent). I booked the hotel on and received a good rate for my four days. I would definitely stay here again if I had a rental car. Without a car I would probably look at their other location in town closer to the main hub of activity.

I’ve stayed at a handful of Super 8’s in recent months and the facilities here aren’t the greatest even by those standards. Somewhat odd smells, stained chairs, you’ll find them all here. On the upside, the staff are quite helpful with regards to wake-up calls and arranging the free shuttle to/from Bush International.

Booked online… not realizing that there were even smoking rooms still available in 2012!.. I tried to switch room and was told no non smoking rooms were available. Room stinks of smoke! Outdated room, Staff not friendly or helpful! There are plenty of other hotels right here, go there … This place is not good! Good thing it’s only one night !!!

I stayed here on a Tuesday for one night. I believe I only paid 55 dollars.(Check their website or ) Make sure to get on the FREE shuttle to the hotel. It will be marked with the street name and I think it’s called«Red Rocket» or something like that. I found it cause it had«Will Clayton Pkwy» marked on it. You have the basics here. The room was quite large. a small Flat screen TV, all of the toiletries. It has all the things you need for one night. There is a Sonic and a Waffle House walking distance from the property and a few gas stations if you need a late night snack. The people at the front desk are very nice and set up a 6 am wake up call for me. I traveled to Houston alone and I felt safe while staying here, 3 stars for my one night in Humble, Houston.
