I can’t imagine such a small business turning away any customer. Walked in, 4 empty tables with reserved signs on them. They told me to come back at 8. Nope. I’ve had several people contact me regarding this review. I simply stated my experience. I did not have a vendetta out for the restaurant, cause if I had the review could have been falsely embellished. I’m leaving it for people who rely on Unilocal for honest feedback of their experience. That being said… I don’t appreciate being contacted by people who want to bully me about my review. Maybe this review will help the owners in the future to better handle situations like this… put a sign on the door that you are closed for a private event. Don’t let someone walk in and see available tables and absolutely NOLARGEPARTIESWAITING and tell them to come back in an hour.

I am absolutely obsessed with this place! It’s so nice to have a home cooked style meal without having to do it myself. I discovered Tipico in my search for a Cuban Sandwich, but they won me over with their pork entrees and the heavenly Tres Leche dessert! Although… I sure do miss that Dulce de Leche filled chocolate cake! HINTHINT!!!

Absolutely priceless! The food is completely fresh, bursting with flavor, and exploding with character! I had the Cuban sandwich and it was nothing like I’ve ever had before! The bread was so soft with a good crunch on the outside… tender and flavorful pork and succulent ham… goodness I already want to go back for more!

Food: Wonderfully delicious Staff: Warm and lovely Atmosphere: Friendly and relaxed Love this place and consider it the best place for a meal in the greater Kingwood area. Haven’t had a bad experience in dozens of visits. Have tried several items on the menu and love everything. Staff is very welcoming and friendly.

Absolutely delicious! If you are looking for a fresh delicious meal, no crowds and a welcoming atmosphere, then this is the place. We ate here on a Friday night for date night. There was no wait. At first we thought it was closed because the location is hidden and it is has a «mom/pop» feel. I ordered a Cuban coffee and it was rich and sweet. I didn’t have to put any sweetener in it. I ordered blackened tilapia fish tacos. They were slightly spicy and sweet. They had a creamy green sauce with avocados. They came with beans and rice and fried plantains. My hubby ordered pollo chorizo, the special. It had just the right amount of spice. We had the tres leches for dessert. There was nothing left on the plate, it was sweet and creamy. I plan on ordering the Cuban sandwich the next time.

This is in response to Elsa R who posted a review earlier this evening. I’ve been coming here since moving to Texas(15 months) and they have excellent food and desserts. And yes… everything is homemade and fresh daily. Yes, they are small in size of their space but huge in flavor and friendliness. Your only issue is you feel entitled to something that would be harmful to their business to benefit yourself. Be like everyone else… be respectful and order a whole dessert in advance. My family and I ordered an entire Tres Leche for Thanksgiving, a few days in advance as they need time to make them(they aren’t frozen like most places). If you want to provide a poor review, eat the food first and experience what it’s like to eat there instead of being a pain because you couldn’t get what you wanted, when you wanted. It’s not all about you.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I thought I’d give this place a try because of all these reviews. I decided to try a slice of cheesecake. I went and she said that the cake wasn’t ready. Ummm ok? Do you only bake one at a time? So she told me to go back in an hour and it should be done by then. I went back and she claimed it was still in the oven and she was soooooo busy(the place is a hole in the wall with about 5 tables) and it would not be ready. So I left. I think only their friends and family go there and write these reviews. This place is a joke. If you know you’re going to be busy and your cakes are supposedly amazing, make more than one.

Food was delicious!!! Very authentic Latin American food! The Yuca appetizer had a tasty sauce to go with it. Hubby had the pork chops and the flavor took him back to his Salvadorian childhood memories. I had the Cuban sandwich and it was pretty big for my size I could only finish half because it was so filling! Definitely going back!

I have to agree, this place is a hidden gem! It exceeded my expectation. I got the ACG and the bf got the Cuban sandwich. Both were delicious but mine was better. I loved there cheesecake, it was something different. The service was amazing, you can tell it’s a mom and pop place. Will definitely come back because it’s just across the street. Probably the best place I ate in town. The down fall of this place was that it was hot and humid.

I found this place thanks to Unilocal. This place is amazing, a hidden gem hard to find in FM1960! Come here early or call ahead for a table, the inside is really small and it fills up fast on the weekends. Only thing is service is a bit slow, but believe me its worth it! Ive tried most of their dishes I’m obsessed with the cuban sandwich but the Honduran enchiladas are excellent! This place is a fusion on latinamerican-indian food! All made from scratch you can tell by how fresh it all tastes! And the best is their crab-mango-avocadoappetizer WOW! Dont forget dessert is amazing as well.

This is my 3rd time here and I absolutely love this place! Tipico’s has a «grandma’s kitchen» kind of charm, tucked away in an unsuspecting, quite little shopping strip. Always a wonderful eating/atmosphere experience, and the service is always friendly. You walk in the small glass front door and will be greeted with a warm welcome, find whatever table you please, and your waitress will bring you a menu(ask for the fried plantains, smothered in the oven-baked ground beef & cheese dish). The yucca appetizer is always a must, and finish your meal off with the perfect Columbian esspresso. If you haven’t been here, WHATAREYOUWAITINGFOR? GO!

Ok, so it is very rare to find to find a great place to eat, in your own town, and have driven past the place ten thousand times but OMG is this place good. I have never had anything quite like it. I had the Cuban sandwich, and the misses had the Fish Tacos. I will be as honest as possible. I cannot even put into words how good this place is. I’m searching for what to say in this review. The only thing that I can tell you, is don’t judge a book by its cover. Make yourself come in and try a dish. I was skeptical, not having a Latin fusion dish before, and I find myself excite about the next trip. Prices are unbelievably great compared to the class of food that they serve. You MUST have the desserts. Any of them. We had the tres leches and Bigote. Bigote is their version of a cheesecake. I will put it like this. When the food showed up, I had all intentions of taking a picture. I did not even want to spoil the moment by doing so. It was food nirvana. It is that good. I am literally writing this review setting in the place. It could not wait to be on Unilocal. TRYTHISNOW!

Tipico is not so typical… especially in this area which is why I adore, uhhhadore this place! I have been here twice and both times I was blown away. When you experience uhmazing customer service, the food becomes even better! The staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed. People now a days can’t hold a conversation much less with a stranger so it’s refreshing when your waitress is not afraid to chat away(I keep forgetting the waistress’ name but girl you know who you are and you’re full of awesomeness!). We even met the owner because she was walking around introducing herself, mingling with customers. I mean duh, she should because she gotsss cooking skills! This place is just so cozy and casual. Now the food… mmmm…straight up home cooking just like yo mama’s! Nothing too fancy(I’m sure they can whip up something fancy tho), just a whole lotta love and flavors! I wanted to try the entire menu but I had to control ME self. This is what I ordered : — platanos con crema: simple yet yummy starter — pollo asado: the chicken was super juicy and flavorful. Even the beans were extremely yummy. I mean how do you make beans taste so darn yummy!?! — pastelon de carne: by far my favorite dish! You just have to try it because words can’t explain how awesomeness this is! — bread pudding: umm hello, party in the mouth! — tres leches: look, I’m Mexican and I don’t Iike tres leches but there’s some kinda magic going on here because I love this cake. — café cubano: so happy I don’t have to drive to Miami for this lol –beignets: I’m not a beignet expert but these were good and my tummy was pleased Tipico Café, keep it coming and thanks bunches for all your awesomeness!

I saw all these 5 star reviews and wondered if the food here could really be THAT amazing… well we just came here for the first time and the food here really is THATAMAZING! To start, the place is kind of tucked away in a strip center but once you enter you feel transported with the tasteful décor. The café is so warm and inviting, and the food matches the warmth. We had the special chili of the day as an appetizer and that was just a start to the flavor we would experience during the rest of our meal. The chunks of beef in the chili were perfect and melted at first bite. Great way to start. For our main course I had the Enchiladas Hondurenas which was a fried tortilla topped with flavorful ground beef, a special slaw slaw, tomato, and a sliced egg. This was served with rice and black beans… the textures of the food were amazingly combined and the taste was off the charts. My wife had the Pollo Guisado — South American Chicken Stew with potatoes and carrots again served with rice and beans. The chicken was perfectly cooked and again melted in your mouth. To top off our fantastic meal, we had the Tres Leches and it really is the best Tres Leches I have ever had. Nothing caps a great meal like amazing dessert! Will be coming here again real soon. One of the best places to eat in Humble!

Just had to have dinner here after all the Unilocal reviews and its five star rating! I wasn’t disappointed. I’ll definitely be back! First off the customer service was impeccable. Not only was our server on point and prompt but the manager(I think) and one of the owners(the wife) made the rounds around the dining area, checking in on the tables. They didn’t do it too much to where it was annoying. This really shows they care not only about the quality of their food but the overall experience. In addition, the food was wonderful! It was home style cooking Central and South American style at its best! My boyfriend and I both had the«Tipico Tropical Stack» to start, no complaints! A matter of fact we were trying to figure out the recipe ourselves so we could make some at home! For our entrée we both opted for the«Arroz con Gandules.» Yum! Highly recommended. Lastly, we ordered the Tres Leches, TODIEFOR! I don’t know what they topped it with but it complimented it very nicely. The location was hidden, but I imagine at the rate they’re going and with it’s rising popularity that they’ll relocate to a larger and more visible facility within the next year or two. I’d bet money on that. The only cons I’d say was that I did notice it was very loud inside, even for the amount of tables occupied inside. My bf and I both gathered their was an echo effect going on. My bf who is in the construction industry said they are in need of some sound panels, which would alleviate the issue. These panels are pretty common in restaurants. Lastly, it would have been nice to know it was BYOB, we’re both wine lovers, but hey we know for next time!(When we’ll be trying the Pollo Guisado plate) All in all it’s really nice to see a privately owned and culturally diverse dinning option in the area. A nice change of pace from the stereotypical restaurant chains such as Lupe Tortilla, Chilli’s or Applebee’s. I give Manny and Johanna Valdhar, the husband and wife team of this fabulous restaurant two thumbs up!

This place is AMAZING. It took us an extra couple minutes to find the place. There’s a ghetto spray painted sign out near the street so you can see where it is, and then when you pull up, it’s a cute little spot! We were expecting something much dingier based on the sign, but it was SO great! We ordered so many things here. We started with the Yuca Con Mojo since my dining partner is gluten free. Yum. She got the lasagna, and I got the pork chops. So flavorful and delicious! Lastly, I ended the meal with Tres Leches, and holy crap it was good! Melt in your mouth cake? I’m all about it! I will definitely make it a point to come to Tipico Café next time I’m in the Houston area!

My wife and I had lunch here today. We shared the Pollo Guisado, which was delicious. The chicken was extremely tender, and the plantains were the perfect sweet touch on the plate. We also tried the beignets. They were better than any other we’ve tried in the area, but I’ll admit my beignet experience is limited. Last, but definitely not least, we tried the tres leches. This was definitely the highlight of the meal. It was the best tres leches I’ve ever had(and I grew up on the Tex-Mex border). Total cost was $ 30, so not too bad on the price. Overall, we were very impressed and recommend it for groups of six or less.

This place has great fresh food. I have had the Chuletas Empanizadas and it’s pork chops seasoned an fried to perfection. It’s really finger licking good. I also had the fried yucca. I had the tipico stack an it was also seasoned well and flavorful. Tried the pastelon de carne tonight and it’s unique. Sweet plantain, seasoned beef and cheese layered. Flavorful. So far I haven’t been disappointed here. This review is a combination of visits :). Large groups make reservations. It’s a family owned café. The owners and waitstaff are welcoming and friendly. Don’t forget the garlic sauce it’s good.

Nadaaaa solo disfrutenlo.

This restaurant may look like a hole in the wall of an older strip center, with the unassuming façade and hand lettered sign out by FM1960, but looks can be deceiving. The interior is a minimal, but inviting space and the people there are friendly and warm. Best yet, the food is very, very good. We have had the crawfish empanadas, which were yummy. They were served wit beans and rice. I almost wish there was an accompanying sauce, but it was wonderful anyway. Lengua there is TENDER and flavorful. Lastly, the pollo guisado is slow braised goodness with lots of tasty veg. Everything is pretty much served with the side of black beans and rice. Unfortunately, they don’t offer a bread component. I was really wishing I had a corn tortilla, arepa, or something to eat along with my lengua. I needed to sop up the tasty sauce. Desserts all look good. The tres leches were wonderful and my hub says he thinks he likes their best. I had a molten chocolate cake and it was fiercely tasty too. They also offer Cuban coffee, which is now my husband’s drink to crave and regular coffee. Come early or make reservations on the weekend. The lengua is good. BYOB with no corking fee. Really nice people and good food.
