Loved the food here along with the seaside atmosphere. Had Oysters to start & the Avocado Deviled Eggs. The oysters were super fresh, prepared well, and presented appealingly with lemon slices. Eggs were very good with smooth texture and not drowned in paprika at all. We had a side of mash potatoes with lobster that was nicely whipped and with the perfect balance of lobster pieces. Entrée was the Sea Scallops served on brown rice with asparagus. The asparagus was presented as individual stalks between each plentiful sized scallop. Both were steamed/cooked just to the correct texture. Definitely not over done. Juicy and not over done as too often scallops can mistakenly be. The Sparkling Hibiscus cocktail was a delightfully refreshing champagne based drink to accompany this meal. Our waiter, Michael, was sweet and professional, a little slow & distracted, but there was a very large party two tables over so I let that go. Overall a great experience all around. Looking forward to coming back and trying new things.

We had a wonderful experience on Valentine’s at BLK. The staff was very attentive to our needs. We had the dinner for two special that was perfect. My Bride commented that their wasn’t a chocolate dessert in the special so Jason our waiter went above and beyond what he had to do and brought out a chocolate cake for her. It was a nice place to spend a nice evening with the one you love.

Okay… «awesome» just doesn’t describe the food and staff members quite enough. LOVE this place! Phenomenal first class environment. Cathy our server was irreplaceable. Could not have asked for better service, attention, and warm & genuine interaction. Sweeter than sweet. The manager checked in on us… Kevin. Young, caring, and truly an inspiring young, gifted gentleman. Great food… awesome steak & sea bass. Not too much… not too little. Stuffed.

My husband and I ate here for our first time last night. It was the Saturday before Valentine’s Day and we had reservations at 7:30. We showed up a few minutes early and were seated right away. Our waitress, Mandi, was at our table within minutes of us sitting down and made an excellent impression right of the bat. She was so attentive the entire night, even though the restaurant was packed. Mandi was hands down one of the best servers we’ve ever had. I had two of their signature cocktails and my husband had some of the on-tap beer from local HB brewery Four Sons. We shared the calamari and ahi appetizers(both were to die for!), and each got the filet as our entrées with garlic mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts as our sides. Everything was so delicious, I can’t wait to go back!

This was my first time dining here. Our reservation was at 9:30 but showed up at 9 and they seated us then! Perfect, because I was starving. We were greeted by the most awesome waitress ever. Her name was Mandy! The reason I am rating this 5 stars instead of 4 is because of her! The food was great, but our Steaks became cold waiting for our condiments and another side order we had requested. Mandy made the experience here beyond excellent. We felt she deserved a little over 20% tip. We will Forsure be coming back for this amazing experience and view :)

We went to BLK for dinner and it was A M A Z I N G! Everything about the restaurant was great — the ambiance, the décor, the extremely polite staff, the food, the view, even the bathrooms! First off, I have to say that I am in love with the décor. It’s clean and sophisticated and pairs perfectly with the vibe of the restaurant. It was perfect SoCal evening weather, so we sat on the patio. There were plenty of patio heaters, although I don’t know if any of them were on, because the weather was so nice. Our server was Carla and she was great! She was very friendly and funny and gave honest answers regarding our questions about wines and the menu. We ordered three of her recommended/favorite dishes along with 3 bottles of wine, and they did not disappoint! Kevin, one of the managers also stopped by our table to see that everything was okay and tasting great. I think it’s always nice when a manager pops over to the table to make sure you are taken care of and that you are enjoying your visit. If you like red wine — go with the Michael David Petite Petit Syrah — it’s smooth red blend that paired well with everything! After one bottle, you’ll be ordering two more. Four of us casually shared the Kobe Beef Sliders and Ahi Tuna Tower. Both of these were delicious. The Kobe beef was perfect and I think they were on mini brioche buns(though I am unsure due to the fact that I inhaled it so quickly!) They were seasoned just right, juicy and flavorful. They came with fries — we went with the garlic fries. Though the kitchen accidentally sent out the sliders with sweet potato fries, which were equally delicious, Carla noticed and grabbed the order of garlic fries before we could even tell her about the mix up. Gotta love it when you get a freebie from the kitchen! Everything about the Ahi tower was gorgeous. Beautiful fresh pink ahi, freshly cut mango and topped with avocado and served with house made wonton chips. YUM! My husband and I are pretty picky when it comes to ahi, but this was quality fish that was priced right. For dinner we had the Honey peppered Atlantic salmon, Chilean sea bass, family style mashed potatoes, and ½ sides of Brussel sprouts and asparagus. The salmon was one of the best I’ve ever had. Light and flaky with the most delectable lemon butter sauce. I practically cleaned the plate with my tongue, it was that good. Our friends had the sea bass and both of them raved about it too. Not a single plate had a crumb of food left behind. And as if all of that was not enough — we had the cronut and a chocolate cheesecake topped with fresh strawberries for dessert! Never have I been to a restaurant where I enjoyed the bathroom! LOL The women’s bathroom I was in was nicely decorated, had a flat screen TV, an adorable bench and it smelled like heaven. I know, weird, right?!! I seriously need to look into what candles they have in there. I need it in my house. :) Everything about this experience and service was impeccable. It was the perfect place to celebrate my birthday. Many compliments to Carla, the chef and all of the management team. Thanks for taking such great care of us. We will definitely be back!

From Haile the hostess who sat me so graciously to Jessica who helped me throughout my meal it was fantastic. Jessica helped me in my salmon selection which was fantastic!!! She also helped me with my Martini selection. My apologies for not recalling the name(green with a a strawberry), literally one of the best meals I have ever eaten.

The focus appears to be on the quality and preparation of the food. The food itself is great, well cooked. Which is more than most restaurants. However it’s well decorated and amazing location. Cocktail that I had tasted like they used quality ingredients, not your run of the mill bar mixers. Service was wonderful as well. Not sure what others were expecting that were disappointed. The concept of the restaurant seems very simple and well executed. Not every place on that is above average is going to be the gastronomic type & they surely don’t claim to be. However looks like some yellers were expecting that.

Took my office staff to lunch for someone’s last day in the office, 7 total people. We were all taken aback by the wonderful décor and views. We hoped the food was as good as the atmosphere! Service was prompt. They have many $ 10 lunch specials which are excellent. We tried the edamame, which all thought was spectacular, as well as the calamari which had a unique and delicious sauce. Among the dishes ordered were Kobe sliders which were very good, a very tasty salmon slider perfectly seasoned, chicken sandwiches and several salads, including the ahi. The presentation was beautiful. I have been in business for 20 years and have taken my staff to many restaurants in town. Everyone agreed this was the best so far. They made it clear that we will be back the next time we celebrate a birthday!

I really enjoyed this place. I see many people complaining about the price but look at what is on the menu… what do you expect? My bill was large for 2 people, $ 200+ but the food was great, drinks were great, service was great and they let my 2 dogs join. If I could sum this place up it’s a step below Mastro’s basically. HB residents, Why do you insist on writing bad reviews on such a great place to eat? Have you seen Main Street lately?! If it wasn’t for that new mall Main St would be down the tubes, all of the other places to eat are terrible. If you think you can’t afford it look at the menu before coming in… don’t trash a place because you think it’s «expensive»… Lightweights, HB is turning into Riverside.

I went here with a small group of friends for a birthday. The atmosphere is really cool, and the outdoor patio is nice. The service is good, but the waitress forgot a few drinks and two of our desert orders. The food is absolutely over priced for what you get. A burger is $ 20 and you can get the same thing at Slaters for half the cost. I was also unimpressed with their crème brûlée. It was runny and had a very strange consistency. Both of us who ordered one sent it back. Probably won’t come back again.

Food is ok, location is awesome. Pros: the view is really nice. It is right on PCH with a view of the pier. The décor is fancy and modern with an almost rustic feel. Good cocktail menu. Cons: no happy hour menu. Food is ok. Ordered the calamari which was pretty standard. Had a sweet sauce that had a slight kick to it. The Garlic fries were ok. They are thicker fries which were more soggy than crispy but the garlic flavor is good.

The new Sparks– aka BLK is great! The build– out is really nice, showcases the view. Lisett is an amazing bartender, so if you want an excellent martini by a real mixologist– look no further in HB. I love to sit at the bar, cuz the service is ultra attentive. The additional seating at the newly remodeled bar means no wait! Which was a problem at the previous place. Food prices went up a tad, but someone needs to pay for this beautiful remodel– like taxes, I will reluctantly chip in. EATLOCAL– try BLK! 20 local beers on tap– real mixology– tasty food!

First time eating here and tried their express lunch menu. I enjoyed the ½ apple chicken salad and bowl of chili. It was the perfect meal on a rainy day. The salad bowl was packed with apples, dried cranberries, pecans and goat cheese. The meat chili was hearty and had two kinds of beans. Just the way I like it! I also tried a Cronut for the first time and I’m now firmly and eternally committed to them. Want to go back for dinner with my handsome husband to see the sunset and enjoy a cocktail and Kobe beef slider and garlic fries.

I came here for a Christmas holiday party. Service was spectacular. There were so many different items on the menu. My company opted for the best entrees. We had appetizers to start the night off. Their skewers were unbelievably delicious. My mouth is watering as we speak. Anyway, we started off the 3 course meal with clam chowder. I’d give this 5⁄10. It was just like all the other clam chowders that I’ve tasted. Good, but not excellent. It was either this, or the salad and since I don’t like eating greens, I stuck with the clam chowder. My entrée was the filet mignon. Nice and tender. Cooked medium rare. Mashed potatoes and asparagus as well. I’d give this 7⁄10. I felt like it lacked some flavor, but the tenderness of the steak made up for it. Not the best steak, but definitely a good steak. Crème Brulee was the last item on the menu for dessert. I have no idea what happened, but it was watery. So strange! Yes, you heard me, watery crème brûlée. I couldn’t enjoy it because it was like scooping milk out of a small cup. I don’t think I’d come back here, because the items are a bit too expensive for my own taste. PS. They have strawberry lemonade here which isn’t on the menu, but it’s seriously so delicious!!!

Came here with friends from out of town and they wanted a steak. I’d been here when it was the Sparks Woodfire Grill and while the food was good, I just couldn’t justify the prices. Fast forward to night before last. Took a glance at the entrees… Holy Crap! $ 65 for a porterhouse steak??? I think I’ve just been seated at THE most expensive restaurant in HB. So I had the Bleu Cheese burger with Garlic Frys for $ 18– or $ 19. Wow Ok it was good… but no better than 25 Degrees restaurant down the block… or than the Bleu Cheese burger at BJ’s down the block(they DO make a good burger) My Gfriend had the Scallops and thought it was delicious. My friends had the 4 oz Small Filet for like $ 50 and the Rib eye. The filet came out with about the most pathetic presentation I’ve ever seen for the price. A tiny little filet ALL alone cept a pinch of oregano on a plate that was about 10″ x 17″(see photo but note the added items that were ordered a la cart and placed after) I was offered a sample of the filet and found it not impressive… I don’t remember how she ordered it, but it was medium to well done and(to me) that is a crime for a filet. The a la cart items were good. I did share a Cesar salad which was pretty much unmemorable… not bad but certainly not a stand out. All in all… I think the food just doesn’t match the prices. Hell, to be honest… I don’t think I’ve EVER had a porterhouse that was worth $ 65. For prices of that level… I can eat at the finest steakhouses in the world. Or I can go to Captain Jacks or La Cave or Mortons. The service was ok, with the exception of having to ask several times for water and her forgetting to bring some blue cheese for the prime rib. The ambiance is very nice… we sat outside and of course the view would have been nice had it not been dark. I don’t know… maybe it’s just me… everyone else in the restaurant looked very happy and impressed. But I just can’t get over the prices.
