So sad they closed, but the rent had to be too much because the quality was terrific!

Day 5⁄25: Welcome to paradise… sorry, that’s Paradis. If you’re idea of paradise is a small gelato shop… you should expect a bit more out of life. Not much to say about this place. I guess the gelato was good enough. The guy working there allowed us about 5 samples total, which was nice. But…it’s gelato. It’s slightly different ice cream. And it’s a chain of gelato stores. Why did I come here again? Oh yes, because I was there and it sounded good. Look, I don’t go out expecting everything I eat to be some sort of destination, a food Mecca where I can make a pilgrimage every year. But I am writing a review on here, and as I go along it gets harder and harder to make a judgment call without holding it to the standards set by its peers. So is the gelato here disappointing? No. Is gelato in general becoming disappointing? Maybe. But I guess as long as they know how to make gelato they get a pass in my book. If they ever change up the recipe so the cups are filled with dirty water and shards of glass…1 star. If they can invent a new flavor that makes me pass out from shifting dimensions, 5 stars. This makes the 3 stars seem fair… what was I talking about again?

This is a five star ice cream/sorbet. Refreshing, sensuous consistency with interesting flavors… They high-end Italian ice cream machines with a 20% air limit to concoct extra rich and creamy deliciousness. They make their ice creams fresh daily and do sell out if certain flavors quickly. They use local and seasonal fruit, which is why their flavors vary between the three locations. Their motto is, «Because fresh always tastes best.» This location is in the Bella Terra shopping mall in Huntington Beach off Edinger. It’s located by the Jamba Juice and across from the plaza(where there’s a Christmas tree on display right now). Nice, friendly service and little seating nooks. Two flavors in a regular size. Yesterday, I enjoyed Orange Buttermilk(unusual and good!) and Blackberry. In the past I’ve enjoyed summer flavors like Plum, Lime Mojito, Banana, Peach, & Strawberry. They also feature Italian flavors on a regular basis like stracciatella(the Italian chocolate chip) and pistachio. Currently they also have pumpkin. If you’re in HB, I encourage you to give this place a try. I think you’ll be happy you did!

Tried their milk shake with the«Flavor of the Month» ice cream which was Pumpkin Pie and also added Vanilla Bean ice cream and ohhhhhh man… it hit the spot. Was the perfect amount of sweetness and wasn’t too thick to suck outta the straw. Perfect consistency. 5 stars definitely for this place.

Very yummy ice cream! It is hard to believe it is ice cream because it has a texture closer to gelato. Apparently this is a company expanding here from Denmark. My mom and I stopped in for a sweet treat close to closing time. All of the flavors were still available and the girl was very friendly. She let us have all the samples that we wanted but we didn’t overdo it. I used to work at a fro-yo shop and I’ll admit that it does get annoying when people ask for more than 2 samples each. We both ordered the Peanut Butter Chocolate and were blown away by the flavor. Probably one of the best flavors I have ever tried. I also went with the Banana Chocolate. The banana flavor was so prevalent and tasty that I felt like I was eating a frozen banana. I believe they make the ice cream and sorbets in-house. Milkshakes and sundaes are also available if you are craving something more. The most unique aspect is that they sell shareable family packs to-go that allow you to choose a variety of flavors. Everyone can have what they want without needing to order multiple containers!

If only they had more variety in toppings! I recently tried the blackberry sorbet(chefs favorite) and strawberry sorbet. I thought the blackberry sorbet didn’t capture the true tartness of blackberries. it was actually quite sweet. I would of preferred a little more tartness. The strawberry sorbet was amazing! Tasted like fresh strawberries and just delicious! My boyfriend got the salted Carmel flavor and it was way too salty for an ice cream flavor. It over powdered the Carmel flavor too much. The ferro Rocher flavor was delicious and yummy! The prices are slightly high. For two scoops you pay around $ 5. These scoops are decent but still a little pricey I believe.

Bf and I don’t go to Bella Terra too often, as parking can be pretty full at times. However, he wanted ice cream, and I remembered passing by Paradis a few months ago when I was in the area. We walked in on a Friday night, where there was steady foot traffic going in and out of the store. Their menu isn’t too extensive, but they do have sundaes, cones, or cups of ice cream. They also have drinks. Bf and I both got regular cups(you get 2 flavors!), where I completely enjoyed my strawberry and marshmallow concoction, while the bf stuck with his chocolate? coffee? combination(sorry, hon, I forgot what you got… :x). Very creamy, very smooth. We’ve been to the Paradis on 2nd Street in Long Beach, and I’m happy to report that the flavors and taste is still very consistent. Super fresh, not too dense in flavor, and it doesn’t have a diabetically-induced sweetness. The price for the regular cup of ice cream wasn’t too bad($ 4.45?), but it will be more than some other ice cream shops. But the ice cream is made differently and you will be able to taste the freshness. The place is clean, but there will be times where it can get pretty sticky at the seating areas. It’s ice cream, so I’m not surprised, but I still hate feeling that stickiness. :/ Service was pretty cool. Had no issues with our order, they were super-friendly, and the bf and I played Jenga(he lost :)) before we left the store. Will probably be back if we’re in the area. The sundaes look soooooo good…

Great quality ice cream and sorbets for a fair price. They have different flavors each day, which is great reason to come here often. Took my younger cousins here and they really enjoyed it — we all agreed it’s better than Afters. The flavors are balanced and not overwhelming. The ice cream here is a little on the softer side, with maybe the exception of the chocolate(flavor descriptions below). They also have a variety of toppings but you’ll be charged for each one. Definitely worth checking out. It is a smallish store but it’s not nearly as crowded as Afters, which is a plus in my book. Great service as well, the lady helping me was more than willing to help us try different samples. Now on to the flavors! Cherry cheesecake — not the best cheesecake flavor ever and I wasn’t a fan of the cherry, but if you prefer fresher tasting ice creams, this might be up your alley. Apple pie — you can really taste the apple in this! But it’s quite fresh tasting, which isn’t what I was in the mood for. I can see it being hit or miss with people. Stracciatella — made with Italian cream, it’s basically vanilla with chocolate shavings. Not too sweet, probably my favorite stracciatella I’ve tried so far. Chocolate — not too sweet, which is pretty unexpected. In fact, it was slightly bitter. But it’s quite dense, and I do love myself a rich and dense chocolate ice cream. Another cousin had almond chocolate chip and Oreo, but finished the two scoops in five minutes — pretty good indication that they were delicious, especially since she’s a slow eater. Again, check it out if you’re in the area, especially since it’s not crowded. Much better than the overhyped Afters.

We picked up a two flavor waffle cone. I’ve never had Danish ice cream before, but this was definitely a treat. It’s not solid like American ice cream or like gelato. Their ice cream is very light. It’s almost like eating soft serve. We got strawberry and oreo cookie. The strawberry was sweet and tarty. It was like eating a strawberry. I did enjoy the oreo cookie ice cream, but I was hoping for more chunks of cookie. Paradis is now on my hit list when I’m at Bella Terra.

The plan was to go to Jamba Juice but I got distracted when I saw this ice cream place. The reviews were pretty good so I picked this place. There was noone inside the store when I was there. $ 4.95 for coffee chocolate and salted caramel with English fudge. That was the milkiest and softest ice cream ever. So soft that it was already melted when it was served to me. The milk taste was so strong and I couldn’t taste the other flavors. I hated the ice cream after one bite. I tried to eat more but I ended up throwing away the whole thing. What a waste of $. Paradis has vegan friendly sorbet so check this out if you are a vegan. Friendly service and you can play UNO while eating your ice cream. I walked out disappointed then I spotted Jamba Juice. Jamba was packed! Next time I am sticking to my initial plan. 1 star! I am sorry to say that this is one of my least favorite ice cream places. Paradis is not yummylicious!

This place has amazing gelato! Their milkshakes are wonderful and their portions are more than generous. They aren’t too pricey for what you’re getting either. My only problem with this place is that they change their flavors every day. I had one flavor that I liked a lot, and I went back the next week to find they didn’t have it anymore. Sad. Of course I found another wonderful flavor and moved on with my life, but I can’t help but wonder if my life would be a little more complete if they carried banana chocolate chip all the time.

They’re always changing/rotating some flavors. I always enjoy my ice cream here. Sample first before you commit. Lol I enjoyed the rum flavor, reminds me of grass jelly. The strawberry was very strawberry. Very good ice cream. So glad there’s more than one location.

First time trying Danish ice cream, and it was a pleasant surprise. Texture was super creamy and the flavors(vanilla bean, banana chocolate chip, ferrero rocher, salted caramel) were rich with just the right amount of sweetness~ I didn’t know that this place existed since I usually come to Bella Terra for the restaurants. Highly recommend that you stop by to dip in! Oh, the whole daily & fresh thing makes it even more appealing!

Still one of my favorite ice cream spots… but this location doesn’t do it as well as Long Beach does :( Although still super creamy, the ice cream was super runny here. Boo… Prices are pretty steep, but that wouldn’t stop me from coming in every time I’m in the area. Around $ 4 for a kids size and $ 4.95 for the regular. They make their ice cream fresh every morning though! Well worth your buck!

Poo, I really wanted to like this place. An extra star cause the service was good. It’s been like three months since I last came in, so this will also be short and sweet. The worker there allowed me to sample all their flavors without being annoyed so that’s cool. I recall liking the chocolate, and the mango sorbet is what I had decided on. The thing about Paradis that I don’t like is the richness. It’s lacking. I can see why it’s healthier than ice cream but better than gelato — something like that, but if you’re looking for ice cream, I would not recommend Paradis. Perhaps you have a different viewpoint, but if I plan on digesting dairy and cream, I want my 500 calories. Good selection of flavors, but it isn’t deathly enough for me in the realm of ice cream. I’m happier with Han’s Homemade in Costa Mesa and Matcha Love(which is a different spectrum since it’s soft serve). The price was like almost $ 4? My satisfaction was not had that day.

Came back today and I was really hoping they’d have pistachio, but they didn’t :(. I sampled some new flavors like Oreo and marshmallow. And hazelnut. My favorites were the Oreo and marshmallow but the hazelnut tasted exactly like Nutella! Very yummy :’) I can’t wait to be back for more!

I’ve been wanting to try this place out for awhile, but I’ve been lazy to drive to Long Beach. Luckily, one opened recently in the Bella Terra shopping center near me. I came here on a Friday night, with a friend around 8 pm. It was empty, but that was ok. All the samples for me! After we left, it started getting busier. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by a girl and asked if we wanted samples. She told us the ice-cream was made fresh daily. I sampled the ferrero rocher(super rich and creamy), stracciatella(just plain old vanilla with chocolate chip), and Oreo. I wanted to sample more, but I felt like a fatty. My friend only sampled the stracciatella before deciding to get the chocolate. Come on girl, why you no be a fatty and sample with me? I decided to get the Oreo. We sat down on a bench. There’s a lot of places to sit inside the store. They even have high tables with games like Jenga and Uno to play. I really liked how the ice-cream was smooth and creamy. Just the way I like it! I would come back if I’m in the area again. However, I felt it was a bit expensive. It’s $ 4 for a single scoop in a cup or cone. Add $ 1 extra to each size up. A concern was that the employee didn’t have her hair tied up. Maybe it was just her or she forgot? They should enforce the hair to be tied up, just for cleanliness reasons.

Me & a friend went here after dinner, since ya know, dessert! So, we were greeted when we first walked in, which was nice & the girl asked if we wanted to try any of their flavors & we pretty much tried every flavor. The chocolate banana was my favorite but so was like 3 other flavors. I decided we should get the box, so that we could eat 6 flavors & I believe it was a good choice because it was all really yummy & I actually really liked the gelato/ice cream here~ will probably come back more often! I feel like this place should get more business, because their ice cream is made fresh daily & it’s not icey & very flavorful! Like that’s awesome! Getting some real strawberries in ya, when you’re eating the strawberry flavor!

Inside Bella Terra so grab some dessert after watching a movie or after eating dinner! Walk in and the ice cream is all right in front of you. The person working was telling us that we could try as many flavors as we wanted. So try them before you decide which flavor you want. I ended up trying the Lemon Sorbet, Strawberry Sorbet, and Ferrero Rocher. The lemon one was super sour, but yet refreshing at the same time. Strawberry didn’t taste as strawberry-y to me. Ferrero Rocher didn’t taste like the chocolate either, but it was still pretty good. They offer sugar cones or cups. Child Cup is $ 4, but only one flavor. Pay 1 more dollar and you get a bigger cup and an additional scoop of any flavor though. We got the Ferrero Rocher in the medium size cone for $ 5 and you also have the choice of picking 2 different flavors. Service was super friendly here. The girl helping us was always smiling and laughing. I’ll definitely be back whenever I end up eating around there!

Had the LB location bookmarked, but when I heard that they were opening at Paradis at Bella Terra I was excited and waited! They basically took over the spot where Ben & Jerry’s was. I’m a big fan of creameries and fresh home made ice cream. Many reviewers were saying how creamy the ice cream was, but I was pretty disappointed after trying Paradis. We were greeted and got to basically sample all the flavors. The texture of each was definitely not creamy like at a creamery(Mitchell’s in SF, Sweet Rose in LA, Sprinkles, etc). This was more like gelato/sorbet texture so not really ice cream. However, the ingredients of each did taste fresh and not artificial. The flavors are on rotation and after sampling each one, my fav were coffee choc chip, mango, mint chip, apple cinnamon, and strawberry sorbet. My bf got the straciatella(REALLYGOOD) in a sugar cone and I ended up getting the strawberry sorbet in a cup. For some reason we tried banana and the flavor of bananas weren’t prominent. For the straciatella it’s supposed to be like a chocolate chip, but it tasted like banana chocolate chip, had a stronger banana taste. There’s no extra charge to get it in a cone so that’s cool. The scoops might looks small, but I think it’s the perfect serving size.
