Came here on a Friday evening and my friends were already seated so I didn’t have to wait. We ordered a few Kirin and hot sakes since we had about 15 mins left of happy hour.(Happy hour Monday to Saturday 3−7pm btw) If you’re the type of person that likes Kirin and hot sake, this is perfect for you! $ 8 for a 22 oz beer and small hot sake. I hate Kirin AND hot sake, so I just suffered lol. We ordered food from the 2 for $ 25 menu. You get to choose any 4 items on the menu, and it comes with an order of edamame. We got a variation of California rolls with shrimp tempura/calamari and a crispy rice spicy tuna. Everything was just okay at best. I left feeling unsatisfied and disappointed. I’ve had Ra before in SD and I thought it was good but the one here in HB wasn’t good at all. The rolls were bland, the eel sauce it was sitting ontop of was too sweet, whatever«crunch» it was rolled in was stale and made the roll taste old. The only thing that was decent was the crispy spicy tuna, but even then, it wasn’t great. Service was okay, it wasn’t too busy but there were still times where we couldn’t find our server. They didn’t even bring out wasabi or ginger when they brought out our food. Save yourself the money and skip this restaurant. There are better happy hours around DTHB that you can go to, and definitely better sushi places.

I generally go to the RA location by my house(Torrance), but on one occasion, met up with a friend at this location as it was closer to her house. First off, parking here SUCKS! It’s right off the beach, so yeah, parking is almost non-existent. The space is small(it seemed smaller than the Torrance location, but I could be wrong). Came here when it was relatively dead and service was kind of sub-par. Even the food didn’t compare to what we were use to at the Torrance location. We always order the drunken clams and our clams actually came out almost room temp. Like they had been sitting out waiting… Definitely wouldn’t come back to this specific location.

Love RA sushi! The spicy shrimp soup will keep me coming back for more not to mention the crispy rice! You have to get the«hot mess»! It made the entire experience for me! I love RA sushi, I like the Huntington Beach location the best! They have a lot of menu items that other places don’t have!

This used to be my favorite less-than-traditional sushi restaurant, because the happy hour menu was great, the sushi bar guys were friendly and fast, and they had a good variety of dishes. I went in a few days ago, and although I am delighted to see a properly functional and clear menu, I’m sad they took out a few of their best dishes! I came in twice the same day – my friends must be on the same train of thought! At lunch, one of the dishes I ordered was the garlic citrus yellowtail, but it look like it was sliced with a dull knife, and it tasted a little fishier than usual for being fresh. Food aside, our server(girl with black and green hair… I forgot her name) was great! She checked in on us often and was patient with me taking foreverrrr to order since my favorites were off the menu. Round two was around 930 or 10pm. Our server was great. He did accidentally put in an order of garlic edamame instead of regular, but it was a happy mistake because we really enjoyed it! Note: keep in mind that RA will validate your parking ticket if you park in the Shorebreak Hotel structure!

Driven past this place many a evening and see the super cool looking décor, we finally stopped in. We were early enough to watch the sunset over the water which was really nice and a great bonus. The staff was friendly and the menu looked promising. That’s where the good ends for me. The craft cocktails, meh. The sushi WE ordered, meh. This is a great place for tourists to stop in, be impressed by the décor and view of the water and not come back in again. I wonder how many locals make this a destination regularly. I’m not saying it was ALL bad, but there’s no reason it couldn’t be better.

Came here cause homeboy was craving sushi. I had never been here before and wasn’t sure what to expect. We came in around 3 and the restaurant was mostly empty so we were told to sit wherever we wanted. We got our menus and found out it was happy hour. We ended up ordering a few things including the viva las Vegas roll, garlic edamame, the rainbow roll, shrimp tempura, a shrimp and lobster roll, and some salmon and yellowtail nigiri. There was one other roll, but the name escapes me at the moment. It was all really delicious and pretty affordable. The service was excellent, our drinks were always filled and the server had excellent suggestions save for the shrimp and lobster roll… Which I didn’t care too much for. All in all, I’ll definitely come back… Especially for that garlic edamame alone. My gosh… So good!!!

This place was pretty good. I got the salmon teriyaki box that was part of their lunch specials and it was really good! The service was not bad, aside from our server Kaysee being rushed to get back to the bar. I also think that she was the only bartender and server on staff during lunchtime. Overall it was good!

Came tonight around 10pm and did a drive by, my girlfriend and I thought they were closed so had to do a double take, and good thing we did! RA sushi is like a little gem in the heart of the beach, it was pretty empty tonight, but the service and workers were amazing, and they have such a beautiful atmosphere !! We came during late night happy hour, and the food was bomb! Their drinks were perfect, very happy with this place! I will definitely be back!

Two Words: Food Poisoning Go here, they said. It’ll be good, they said. I am pretty sure I am giong to get food poisoning. The fish quality is pretty poor. The taste was average because it was not fresh. It is costly. I literally paid the price of getting expensive sushi. No, I will not be coming back, unless I needed to use a nearby restroom.

Ra Sushi has their own twists on sushi and personally for me, it’s kind of a bittersweet thing. I love the décor and atmosphere of Ra, it’s a modern, refreshing, dim-lit sushi restaurant on PCH. The first time I treated my boyfriend out and the second I treated my mom. The second time was better than the first because I knew what to order! The service here is always on point, they are extremely nice and patient. I am obsessed with the Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice & the Crunchy Calamari roll! The rice is soft, warm and crunchy, & spicy tuna is really good here considering the fact that I don’t even like spicy tuna! The crunch bits that Ra has is infused with some sort of vegetable which is pretty neat. It changes the presentation of the roll and is still very appetizing. Everything else is alright but the Ra’ckin Shrimp is something I’d get again. The first time I came here at around 11pm the nigiri was really fresh and the cuts were thick. Same goes for the second time with my mom and that was in the afternoon. I’m impressed with the fact that no matter what time I went, the food tasted delicious and the same. Again, since they have their own signature rolls, it’s a lot different than other sushi restaurants. Almost all their rolls have cream cheese in it but that doesn’t really bother me. I wasn’t a fan of the king crab roll because of the pesto sauce and that’s probably the only roll I wasn’t fond of. They have happy hour and open super late which is awesome as heck. The friendly service makes up for everything so 5 stars for Ra & I will be coming back!

Happy Hour 4p-7p, but wait…*Is it worth it, let me work it, I put my thing down, flip it and reverse it*…10p-12a Reverse Happy Hour! In my humble opinion, the BESTHH in DTHB! RA is always a good spot and great view without the craziness of Main St. Consistent high quality of food and service every time I come in and a ton of food and drink specials.

Fun place to go for Happy Hour half price specials… after reading the other reviews and then checking out the menu for pricing… try for Happy Hour half price on just about all the sushi. HAPPYHOUR Mon-Fri, 4−7PM Check this out«Reverse Happy Hour» Mon-Sat, 10PM-Midnight Sun, 8PM-Midnight Also good to know about parking *2 hours validated parking in the garage beneath The Shorebreak Hotel. The atmosphere is clean and feels open. The window seats allow you to watch the beach activity and have long tables for big groups. Peaceful aquarium in the center giving the place nice feel as you watch the sushi being created at the bar. I was at the Shorebreak Hotel so RA was just downstairs with easy access. Very inexpensive to have some vegetable tempura and California Roll for dinner for $ 12.41 The Vegetable Tempura is $ 5.80 all the time and wonderful! The California Roll was only $ 5.99 on Happy Hour and tasted fresh. TOGO items availalbe so if you are at the hotel or want to eat on the beach, great to shop and go from here for something different.

I’m torn between 2 or 3 stars. But the ambiance and our ocean view table bumped it up to an average of 3 stars. Food wise…2 stars. It’s like… gourmet sushi. Taste and price did not match up. We ordered spicy lobster rolls, spicy tuna crunch and some other sushi roll I don’t recall right now. Point is, we love spicy food and all three rolls we ordered were NOT spicy. Very very disappointing!!! We also ordered shisito peppers and whatever sauce they had these peppers in SAVED our dinner. I’m not a fan of these but even I thought they tasted great. If we didn’t order a side of this sauce to dip our sushi in… the rolls could not been saved. =( To sum it up, expensive food. Sushi rolls weren’t even worth the money. We will NOT be back.

So I did it ya’ll, I tried sushi for the first time(again). I’m not a sea foodie, so this was a big step for me. I only tried one sushi roll which was the spicy salmon roll, which was on the waitresses advise. Honestly, it wasn’t horrible, it was okay, I tasted more of the avocado and the rice and seaweed than the fish, but I did have that fishy after taste, yuk. We also got a veggie roll which is more my speed, but I’m not knocking it, I’d try it again, anyone wanna take me? lol. Waitress was nice, place was clean and they had drink specials. All in all it was a good experience. 4 stars for the experience.

3.5 Stars, rounded down because of the service. Immediately was impressed by the really chic décor. Gotta love those cool lamps! It’s also a great spot for a date, because… hello, right next to the beach, perfect for those cliché romantic moments. Absolutely come here for the Happy Hour(Mon.-Sat. 3 – 7), because a lot of their specialty rolls are deeply discounted and it’s honestly not worth it to pay full price for them. Service was pretty bad. After we ordered, we waited for what seemed like forever before one of our rolls came out. It took another 15 minutes for my roll to arrive. Was there any way that could have been more coordinated? I mean, even the table of girls who arrived after us got their Vegas rolls before I did. Viva Las Vegas Roll($ 13.60, HH: $ 7.75): From their website: «kani kama crab & cream cheese rolled in rice & seaweed, lightly tempura battered & topped with spicy tuna, kani kama crab mix & sliced lotus root; finished with a sweet eel sauce & spinach tempura bits.» Wow, this roll has a lot going on! It’s presented beautifully and comes with 5 pieces. It was delicious, but I wouldn’t have paid $ 14 for it. Come on. My boyfriend ordered the Spicy Salmon Roll($ 7.60, HH: $ 4.75), and I tried a piece. It wasn’t anything special. If you’re looking for authentic sushi, this really isn’t the place for you. But it’s a nice enough place to go to during happy hour, and apparently they have decent lunch specials too. Join their e-mail program to get«hooked up»(haha get it, fish) with a $ 20 gift certificate on your half birthday each year. Food: 3, Service: 2, Environment: 5, Price: 4(for HH)

Such a fun place to have sushi! Fresh sushi, ocean view, and the best seat in the house to see the sun set. What more can you ask for! We were in the area for the Tuesday Farmers Market. My boyfriend a I decided after shopping that we wanted sushi. So we found our way to Ra. Definitely a young hip crowd here. Kids might be ok but I wouldn’t bring grandma here. We ordered the usual. Spicy tuna roll and the sashito peppers. My new favorite is the Las Vegas roll though! Delish! We’ll be back for sure.

I am not a connoisseur of legitimate sushi, so keep that in mind while reading this review. RA is sort of «Americanized» sushi with a lot of fancy rolls. I like the Viva Las Vegas roll: Kani kama crab & cream cheese rolled in rice & seaweed, lightly tempura battered & topped with spicy tuna, kani kama crab mix & sliced lotus root; finished with a sweet eel sauce & spinach tempura bits. As you can see, there is a lot going on in that roll and no raw fish. Lunch bento boxes are a very good value. For about $ 8 you have options of teriyaki chicken, beef, shrimp tempura, and a few others. Also included is a vegetable egg roll, pork gyoza, rice, miso soup and a small salad. On Tuesdays, lunch bentos are 2 for 1. You have to ask for it though. You can also get a «Nooner Club» stamp card. Buy 5 lunches between 12−3pm and get $ 10 off your next lunch. This is a great deal if you eat here often. HAPPYHOUR: Monday — Saturday, 3−7PM. $ 2.75-$ 7.75 select sushi, appetizers, and tapas. Beer and Sake discounts: $ 2 Sake, $ 4 Sapporo and more! This is the best option because their rolls get very expensive. During HH the Vegas roll is only $ 7 versus $ 13 on the regular menu. I really like the ambiance of this particular location. Right on PCH, you have an ocean view if you sit by the window. There is an exotic fish tank in the center of the restaurant and a darkened atmosphere with glowing colored lights. The red spheres hanging from the ceiling give a contemporary vibe. RA is a good place to catch up with friends over beer and appetizers, or to enjoy a reasonably priced bento box on your lunch break.

Located on PCH between 5th&6th, this is a hip sushi place with a good happy menu: HAPPYHOUR: MONDAY-SATURDAY, 3−7PM $ 2.75-$ 7.75SELECTSUSHI, APPETIZERS ANDTAPAS, BEER + SAKE(yes, i copied and pasted that directly from their website, but it gets straight to the point! i added the beer + sake part :) This is a great place to bring a date. They play hip music, the ambiance is very dim(almost clubby) and romantic, and the décor is chic and trendy. I find it funny when people describe a place as «sexy,» but I’m gonna throw that out now. This place is sexy! lol. Tip: Avoid paying meters by parking along the residentials a few blocks away on Walnut Ave.

The place faces PCH and is right between the CVS and Crocs store. Happy hour is Monday-Saturday from 3PM — 7PM. Sign up with their email club and get $ 20 off on your half birthday! You can use the coupon during happy hour, but just not on the happy hour items. What we got: Spicy Lobster Roll w/Soy Paper($ 10.75): it comes with 5 pieces. It wasn’t spicy and I couldn’t taste the lobster. Skip skip skip! Spicy Salmon Roll($ 4.75HH): tiny tiny roll that consisted of 8 pieces. It wasn’t spicy at all either and you could barely taste the salmon. Tootsy Maki($ 5.75HH): comes with 8 pieces and it was my favorite roll of the night. This roll is basically like a fancier version of a California Roll with shrimp, tempura bits on the outside and eel sauce. Zonie Roll($ 9.75): this roll also comes with 8 pieces and it consisted of spicy salmon, cucumber, topped off with avocado and sriracha. Salmon wasn’t spicy, but the sriracha gave it a nice kick. Avocado looked fresh and they gave us a good amount. Service: Food took awhile to come out considering there wasn’t really anyone there… But other than that, everything went fairly well. Waitresses were patient because we weren’t exactly sure what we wanted to get. Water glasses were always refilled before they got empty. So overall everything was pretty okay.
