I love this place. I take my parents here all the time! You just have to make sure to not come during the hours of 10am to 11am because you will end up waiting in a long line. I have came here several times now and would honestly recommend anything on the menu. I have eaten the Keppler’s and Egg Benedict. I would honestly go for the Egg Benedict after you tried the Keppler’s because the Keppler’s is one of their classic dishes. The difference between the Egg Benedict and the Keppler’s is that Egg Benedict has poached eggs while the Keppler’s has scrambled eggs with avocado. Both of these dishes are wonderful! Also, something that is worth getting is the Coffee+ Hot Chocolate drink! It’s such an awesome idea if you are a chocolate lover. I love the sweetness of the chocolate and the boldness of the coffee. It is a great combination. This place is a nice place to come and then hit the beach afterwards. The problems I have is the parking and the crowds this place attracts. Overall, I will keep coming back here!

Fresh, healthy brunch a short walk from Huntington Pier. Found a place where I can eat clean: grilled chicken breast was moist and perfect, egg whites, bowl of mixed fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice, great coffee! Ask for a side of avocado and you get a large half avocado in beautiful slices! Great service. Ask for Will, he took good care of us!

I came here to eat with some friends. Pretty friendly service and a nice place to eat and chat. I ordered the eggs Benedict, but asked if they could change it into a florentine style(replacing the ham with spinach) with a side of tomatoes. It was average compared to other brunch places that I’ve been. However, the thing that bothered me the most was that they charged me an extra $ 3 – 4 just to replace ham with spinach! I would have just ordered something different if I had known but the waitress never informed me that it would be an additional charge.

I read the Unilocal reviews before coming so I was prepared for a bit of a wait. Their quote times are short but we probably waited 35 minutes after being quoted 15 – 20, which I was prepared for. They turn the tables quickly when guests leave and they are all over it. We sat down and the team checked on us the entire time. They were nice, always checking back for a coffee refill and the food was fast once we ordered! We thought the foot was really good, I particularly liked the raisin bread French toast(I got a half order) and a side of bacon. The coffee was really good as well the kind of coffee you enjoy stopping by somewhere to get. I enjoyed the people watching and classic cars that were cruising Sunday morning. We’ll definitely go back. It was nice that it wasn’t just our«server» checking on us, it was a team.

Super spot for breakfast We visited Huntington Beach for work and my daughter’s birthday. For breakfast, there are a number of options downtown, where our hotel was. Sugar Shack Cafè hit the pot perfectly. The menu is standard American breakfast fare. Very much like your standard IHOP, but if a family ran it, it had fun people, and the food was better. Sitting there eating with my wife and kids, the vibe took me back to post-surfing breakfast near Makapu’u. Friends and I would pull into a small shop, tired and exhilarated from morning sessions, and scarf food while chatting with buddies and other guests. It can be super busy and cramped, but definitely worth the visit for the food and some memories…

GREAT stuff! I love this place. Now it opens at 6 am instead of 04:30, so that’s a bummer. I only get the ‘Keppler’s Special’. Once you’ve had a ‘Keppler’s Special’, don’t go for a long walk. You won’t make it to the base of the pier without needing to drop the kids off at the pool. It’ll clean you out! You’ll feel like a man-a lighter man too! Harumph! You’ll spend $ 15/person for breakfast. If you’re simple you’ll like this place.

Such a cute, family-owned spot with amazing food! Seating outside was packed, so we sat indoors, but it was nothing short of amazing regardless. Great portions and the pancakes were delicious! Food came out quick and service was exceptional. Absolutely no complaints here! Worth every dollar spent. Definitely a must for breakfast when visiting Huntington Beach.

Yum! We went to this place my last day in Huntington Beach for breakfast. It was very small in the front but they have tons of seating in the back patio. It was a nice day out and a great morning to eat outside. I had Pancakes and eggs which was really good. Big portions, I could not eat it all. The boyfriend got the burrito and that was filling as well. I loved it and would go back!

I really don’t know why this place is so glorified, it just just be an HB institute. The food is par, the servers are attentive, the location is prime time. But after several visits, the food just doesn’t do anything for me. On weekends, No Ka Oi next door has huge and cheap mimosas and bomb food without the wait.

I love this little Gem! I went here last Friday and I definitely wouldn’t mind eating here once a week. I recommend the French toast, veggie patties and Kempler Benedict(or whatever it’s called). The prices are decent and they can get pretty busy in the AM all the way till the end of lunch. Also, there’s also a cute waiter with an Australian accent, which totally added to the deliciousness of my food. Took a while to get our food, so had to knock off a star…

Great reviews on Unilocal + a starving me + a boyfriend who wanted to go here really badly = two for breakfast at Sugar Shack! Upon arriving we were told that there was a wait list in the front but inside and the back had available tables. Not wanting to wait, the back we went! Not sure what the difference between the front and back were, but we were quite pleased with the seating in the back. We were quickly asked for our drink orders then given the menus to make the big decision. Waters were brought back and a few minutes later our waiter came out. I ordered the french toast(half order). Food came out at a perfect time! Both mine and my boyfriends food was warm and deletable. I really liked what I ordered and so did Evan. Win! What made me give 4 instead of 5 stars was no one came by once to refill our waters and it took a little long after we finished eating to get our check. It was clear that they were a little understaffed for the crowd they got this Wednesday morning.

I just loved this place. It’s very ‘Huntington Beach’ which is exactly what I was looking for with brunch on my Sunday morning before hitting the beach all day! The seating can be tough, indoor is seat yourself, outdoor has a wait. But, it’s definitely worth visiting!

This has been my favorite breakfast spot in Huntington since the first time I ate here in 2006! The pancakes are amazing… I don’t like anyone else’s pancakes as much, and everything I’ve ever ordered here is done just right. Not fancy, not expensive, just plain really good. The hash browns are also my favorite… better than my dads! What puts the icing on the cake is the chile sauce. I just tried Michele’s special yesterday and that was simple and delicious too. I love sitting in the front on main and people watching or in the back if it’s busy and I don’t feel like waiting. Some of the servers have been working there forever, which means it’s a happy place and there are some cute Brazilian ones:) this is a locals spot for sure and I get a kick out of checking out the surfers. Great Value!

Right after the start of the new year in 2016, I got sick, twice, in a row, and it sucked. However, going to get breakfast at the Sugar Shack Café made being sick suck a lot less. I took a lot of dayquil, and my fiancé and I drove to Huntington Beach, except my GPS lead us to Seal Beach, so this lead to a little bit of frustration, but we ended up making it to HB fairly quickly after that. Their seating system is really weird. We were told we could either, find a table inside or in the back and those areas are first come first serve, or we had the option to wait for seating outside in the front of the restaurant. We put our name down to wait, but we also tried to go get a table in the back. We found one, but a waiter immediately came by and said it was someone else’s table and they were seating, from a different wait list, in the back and he said he didn’t know why the hostess up front said it was first come first serve in the back. Clearly, the front of the house and the back of the house were suffering from communication issues this Saturday morning, which was kind of frustrating, but we just ended up waiting for a table outside, up front. The wait was probably around 20 minutes or so, and the table wasn’t clean when they sat us, but they did come to wipe down the table not too long after. My fiancé and I decided to split the following: –Whole Keppler’s Breakfast Special — scrambled eggs on an english muffin topped with sliced avocado, tomato, bacon, and hollandaise sauce. It came with hash browns. $ 9.45 –Hot cinnamon roll $ 3.35 –a side order of bacon. 4 pieces for $ 3.95 All of the food was great. No complaints at all. The bacon especially was amazing. They most likely cook it to order here, and it is nice, thick, and crispy. It’s everything you could want from bacon. The Keppler’s special was really unique. All of the flavors blended together very well, and it didn’t feel too heavy to eat for breakfast. There was a nice balance of all of the ingredients, and while the quality of the scrambled eggs were lacking, everything else tasted really nice and fresh. The cinnamon roll was perfect. It arrived really warm with a ton of icing. The cinnamon flavor was very apparent, and it was really sweet, but not overly sweet. If you want a really hot decadent cinnamon roll, come here. The middle, of course, was the best part, but the edges were still nice and soft. Major props to the baker. It took a long time to get our waiter to give us our check, pay the bill, and leave, but it was okay. It did get kind of awkward at times as people kept eyeing our table and our food as we were eating and waiting for the check, but this place is really popular, so I expected this. All in all, I would come back here, and I would order the exact same thing. It was that good.

Great place to sit and relax on a typical weekend morning. food was really good! enjoyed it :) only 2 complaints– OJ wasn’t freshly squeezed and it gets really busy over the weekends so while you are eating people are eyeing on you if you are leaving yet or not! haha. But over all a nice place! :)

Sugar Shack is well-known here in Huntington Beach and any local should be able to point you in the right direction. It’s the quintessential surfer’s breakfast restaurant of choice, and early in the morning it is common to see the place packed with local surfers fresh out of the water, or getting a bite before heading out. They serve breakfast until mid-day so you can enjoy their food whatever time you wake up in the morning. However, there WILL be a wait, but it’s well worth it. It tends to go by much faster than expected so don’t get discouraged. This is a great place for family dining or maybe a casual weekend morning date. The food is excellent, better than any Denny’s or I-Hop, and the prices aren’t too bad either. The front of the restaurant is right on Main Street, so you can watch people pass driving and walking down main to the beach, just two small blocks away. You can also eat inside, which isn’t quite as fun as far as I’m concerned, or you can request the back patio which is a little more quiet than right on busy Main Street and has a quaint atmosphere. Sugar Shack is known for it’s simple, delicious food, and the perfect atmosphere of old time Huntington Beach, also known, appropriately, as Surf City USA.

This place is fantastic! The food is excellent, and the portions are awesome for the price($ 10 or less). The cherry on top of the cake for me was the service. There were at least 3 or 4 people who were extremely attentive to our needs: coffee or water refills, making sure the food was okay, splitting our checks. They were courteous and generous, and they were not invasive at all. I had a great experience at Sugar Shack, and I highly recommend it if you’re in Huntington! Expect a bit of a wait, but the wait is worth it :)

My extended family has been going here for years and I can see why! Sugar Shack offers a good selection of breakfast items with very generous portions. Plus, there’s something on the menu for everyone, from the straightforward«eggs and bacon» types to those looking for healthier and lighter breakfast options. The food was prepared well and the wait for both seating and food was minimal, despite mornings being fairly busy here due to the joint’s increasing popularity. The service was adequate and coffee was refilled when needed. During busier times, this place is best suited for couples and smaller groups of 6 or less. All in all, it’s not the fanciest place to eat on the strip, nor is it the next taste sensation, but Sugar Shack is definitely good at what they do and that’s delivering above-average breakfasts at a fairly reasonable price(considering the area)!

Have been going here for years. Can walk from my house. But that’s not the reason I go. I love this place and you get to know the staff so well it feels like a second family. Food is excellent, I tend to go for the breakfast burrito to often with hash browns inside. The price is great, to-go orders are done fast. It’s worth the wait. Enjoy.

Not bad if you’re in the area, but wouldn’t go out of my way to go there again. Overall the serivce was fine, it didn’t take long to have our order taken or the food to arrive. The food just wasn’t anything great and a bit too greasy. Overall it was just average.

Had half the Keppler today because they ran out of their roast beef lunch special even though it was only noon. It was tasty and the right amount of food. A little pricey for what it was but the rest of their menu was moderately priced. We sat in the patio where it was nice and open but there were quite a bit of pigeons and flies hovering around. Also, it was difficult getting the waiters to refill our water. I wouldn’t be opposed to coming back to try out the other stuff on their menu though! Might be smarter to come either before or after the lunch rush.

Sugar Shack has the best breakfast on Main St. Peggy’s raisin french toast with boysenberry syrup is like candy. That is my sugar fix here. I haven’t had any breakfast items I haven’t liked. Keppler’s with egg whites is really good. I like that you can do a ½ serving. The breakfast burritos are huge! There are also plenty of healthy options as well.

Breakfast by the beach? Sugar Shack is the answer. We first came at a friend’s recommendation and have returned one or two times since. It’s a great breakfast/brunch spot close to the Huntington pier. We have tried the egg combo plates, but usually go for the Keppler’s Special, the Sugar Shack’s twist on a traditional Eggs Benedict. The Keppler’s Special comes with scrambled eggs, avocado, tomato, and bacon on top of an English muffin and finished off with hollandaise. The Keppler’s Special is served with a side a crispy hash browns. I wouldn’t say that the Sugar Shack is worth driving the distance for, but it is certainly a great casual place for breakfast if you are in the Huntington Beach area.

Service was average and food wasn’t bad. Very close to the beach. There is metered street parking so opt to walk if you can. The French toast is battered with pancake batter so it looks and tastes very similar to pancakes. I would recommend the keppler — scrambled eggs, avocado and bacon over an English muffin(comes with a side of hash browns or pay extra for a side of fruit instead). My only complaint was that the bacon was so burnt it didn’t even taste like bacon anymore.

To be honest I didn’t entirely like this place. This is a breakfast food place mainly. There’s two units both of which are kinda really narrow and small. I got a little claustrophobic in there. They have out door seating available but odds are you have to wait a long while to get seated. Depending on the day and time of day. Their drinks are huge. Which is good. I like that. But the size is also reflected in the price. It was 2,50 for an ice tea. Which to me. Feels like a little too much. I wasn’t particularly hungry today so I just for a fruit bowl. Which was five bucks. Also seems like a bit of a reach for mark up for something that costs less than a dollar to put together. But I guess given then proximity to the beach I’ll let it slide. The staff here were really nice though. Also. In case you parked in the parking garage, they don’t give validation. I’d suggest coming on Tuesdays. That’s when there’s a street fair thing going on. It happens weekly at around 4 ish there are little pop up tents and a lot of goodies and even a petting zoo. So it’s a nice extra thing to do. But do get here early for parking if you do go Tuesday’s.

First off, if you’re going to eat here, make sure you’re not in a rush. The wait when we went was approximately 45 – 1 hour… ridiculous! The location is nice because there’s a lot of shops around so you can look around, but make sure your whole party is there when they call you or they won’t seat you. I got the Main Street Omelette. It was good, don’t get me wrong, but there was nothing special about it. I wouldn’t wait 45 minutes for it. Make sure to get here early is my only advice!

This place is famous, located on Main Street a block or so from the sandy beaches along the Pacific Ocean, this place is packed all breakfast and lunch(it closes at 2). I must say, the good is good and basic, I had scrambled eggs, dry toast, side of avocado and salsa. Good, but obviously nothing stellar. My daughter got grilled cheese and fries, basic, but good. My other daughter got a burger with she said was good. Our friends daughter got eggs Benedict and said it was okay. Service was good, it’s a famous HB landmark, so I was glad to sit and nosh.

I had an excellent breakfast here on July 4th! They powered me up with egg whites, chicken breast, rice, veggies, and pancakes. All delicious! Nice friendly folks – FAST service at he counter even though they were packed. Can’t complain about anything. And at a VERY reasonable price considering this expensive location. No Brainer – go here for breakfast/brunch. And contrary to popular rumor – they Don’t put sugar in everything!

Ended up in Huntington Beach today and decided to try this divey breakfast spot. Ordered some delicious French toast and the junior breakfast to accompany it. Was the perfect way to start the morning. The staff was super friendly and attentive even though they were super busy. Expect a 10 to 15 min wait on weekends.
