I had eaten here in the past but I noticed 9 or 10 months ago it was completely changed over into some other chain of restaurant /sushi place. I think it was independently owned before. They had a lot of unique rolls and the rest were kinda plain and run-of-the mill but it was a fun way to experiment with new or different kinds. Maybe a buck or two more per roll than your average joint, but I think that was part of the HB charm(they’re competing with some of the«more expensive» popular eateries down Main). I would’ve given it 4 stars but since it’s apparently closed(as mentioned by Minhquan N.) I can’t. oh well it was nice while it lasted…

*Note: The following review is mostly a tribute to one of my favorite restaurants, as it is now closed and is about to be turned into a yakitori restaurant. R.I.P… Sushiko had it all: a great selection of rolls, a great selection of non-sushi items, relatively low prices(for sushi – let’s all admit that with the exception of all-you-can-eat sushi, sushi is terribly expensive), good presentation, great taste(fresh too, most of the time) and friendly service. Not to mention that it was close to my house. Unfortunately, it was too cozy for its own good. It was somewhat difficult to see, since it was tucked away in a corner next to a much more obvious Chinese restaurant. It was difficult to access and it had a small parking lot. And Sushiko itself was quite small, limiting the number of people who could be served. But that hardly mattered, since very few people knew the existence of Sushiko and came in anyway. Yet despite all this, I miss it terribly. I don’t know any other sushi place nearby that comes close.

If you want to eat sushi and get drunk in a mellow atmosphere, than this is the place. This is one of the better sushi places in HB that has good prices and does not get very packed in here. Perfect place for a birthday.

Definitely a hidden Gem if you like fun and funky rolls. The Riley Roll and Heart Attack are really amazing! Coming from the likes of Katsuya, Yamashiro, Fat Fish, in LA… I haven’t found a better sushi restaurant in the OC.

This is a hidden jem that I hate to reveal, I know the crowds will come! But I have to pass on to all sushi lovers out there, this place is the best! The entire staff makes you feel welcome as soon as you walk in. A few of my favorites here are the Riley roll, sushiko special and the baked salmon. Oh and I can’t leave out the Monkey Balls… the name makes me laugh everytime I order it, but they are sooo tasty! Check it out!
