Cactus Salon and Day Spa

I went in for a hair cut, which is a rare occurrence for me, and they recommended Julie. She was very nice and the environment was just like any other hair salon. However, the haircut I received was not even close to the photo I showed her. I asked for long layers, which is very simple and she did nothing to the layers I already had that were grown out. I also asked for tapered ends as I do not like blunt ends and she gave me extremely blunt ends. The ends of my hair are practically a straight line. She did an ok job on my bangs, however I asked for some face framing around them to blend them into the cut and to hang down when I put my hair up into a pony tail and she did nothing of the sorts. As I said before, she didn’t even touch the layers I had that were grown out. She showed me how much she was planning on cutting off and it was about an inch and a half, to which I said was fine. Yet she cut off a good 3 inches, maybe even more. I had hair down to my waist and walked out with hair that doesn’t even cover my chest anymore. Every time I see my hair now I want to cry. It’s horrible and I wish I wouldn’t have gotten it done every time I pass by a mirror. It’s going to take a long time to grow back since she chopped off so much and if I want to get it fixed I will have to cut off even more. It wouldn’t have been that difficult to replicate the photo I showed her as that is the hair cut I have always gotten and Tommy at Fleur Salon in Denver, CO has never messed up for me. Don’t waste your money at this place as they will just try to rush and not give you the hair cut you specifically asked for.

Went last week for my first time, also my first gel manicure. Was taken 10 – 15 min late. I went back the NEXT morning and showed receptionist that 2 of the nails already chipped, and a third was smudged. She made an appt for me to come back a few days later for it to be fixed. That morning, they called to reschedule. I said I did not want just a few nails to be fixed, because then those would last longer than the other ones. She said I would have to pay again for it to be redone. I have never heard of a gel manicure lasting one day! I was hoping they would offer me at least a complimentary regular manicure, but nothing… I decided not to go back, and had a regular manicure elsewhere because it looked so awful. I had a groupon; maybe groupon customers do not get the same treatment…

Walked in to an extremely rude receptionist. Just wanted some basic info, and she looked like she could care less. Busy on her computer. Don’t waste your time even going in here.

I have been to a few different cactus salons, but this was my first time at the Dix Hills location. I arrived 10 minutes early because it was closer to home than I expected. When I arrived at the salon, I went straight to the desk to check-​in. The receptionist Briana was currently helping someone, but since I was the next appointment and it was a slow sunday she said «hi Briana I’ll be with you in one minute». I sat down and waited. The other customer left and I still waited for the receptionist to give me the okay. I sat for about 10 minutes when they began to talk about how the next 1:30 appointment for Briana was late (that happened to be my appointment). They said I was only 5 minutes late but still insinuated that it was rude. Apparently the receptionist forgot to check me in. Once I got up again to ask when I was going to be seen, her face dropped and she said we were just wondering where you were. The stylist I saw was alright, she didn’t show me any color swatches and just dyed my hair whatever color she pleased. It was a little darker than I wanted, but the worst part was the sloppy dye stains all over my forehead. The lady who washed my hair even asked why the stylist didn’t clean my forehead afterwards. Bottom line: choose a different cactus salon with better customer service. My entire experience revolved around waiting since they care to chat more than serving their clients.

I went in for a new look and have been dying to try a bob haircut. However I was still unsure when I walked into the salon. The receptionist recommend Katie (I’m pretty sure the hairstylist’s name is Katie). Well she did an amazing job and knew exactly what she was doing!

Great stylists, but when you spend a 150.00 in color they should blow out your hair as a courtesy. But cactus will let you leave wet if you don’t pay another $ 30.00

Didn’t know they had a nail salon inside. Had a salon pedi and shellac manicure. I went to Donna and she did an outstanding job. My nail lady sold her place a few months ago and I have been searching since then for a professional person. Donna is my new main «nail lady». You won’t be sorry!

I was referred tob Melissa W by my Sisters friend. She is so great! Not only is she sweet but she listens and corrected a bad hair cut and fixed my hair color. I woyld highly recommend Melissa W. to anyone!

I love this salon and I have been going to Maia for years she is a fantastic stylist and she always has great ideas for what I am looking for. The whole salon is a great place to be and sooo happy to be a client of this great establishment. No matter when I call the front desk always gets me in no matter what they always go above and beyond to make their clients happy and that’s why I love it here so much, so if your hesitant in trying a new salon don’t be they are a very talented staff you will definitely be happy

I love going to Cactus Salon and Day Spa in Dix Hills! This is my number one place to go to because it is a very friendly environment and everyone is there to help you. I always have the same hairstylist (Melissa W). She is amazing. I was very skeptical with people touching my hair but I trust her completely! Every single time she does a great job! Even if I am not sure what I want she takes her time out to really help you get the best look. She does not rush to get done, she takes pride in her work and it really shows! All the girls that wash your hair is extremely friendly as well. Great atmosphere and great look every time!

went here yesterday for a massage with megan after buying a groupon ($ 39 for a one hour swedish massage). the massage itself was fine, nothing too special, but there were several distractions — there was no music playing in the room, so i could hear other employees laughing and gossiping outside the room. every ten minutes or so, an announcement would come over the loudspeaker system notifying employees that their clients were ready… i found this extremely disruptive to my massage. to top it off, when i walked out the door and checked my cell phone i realized my massage had only lasted 45 minutes even though my certificate clearly stated 60…

I was going to a wedding and went to this salon for an updo. The hairstylist seemed like she would have rather kept reading a magazine. I wanted to have my hair pulled back into (I am not sure what to call it) side roll on the back of my head. While she was working on it she was using massive amounts of bobby pins. I asked her why she want not using hair pins instead so the pins would not be as visible. She said she didn’t use hair pins. When she was done most of the bobby pins were visible (over 75). It looked ridiculous and when I talk to the manager I was told that was the way it was traditional done. I know that bobby pins are used traditional by not very good hairstylists with little experience. I paid a lot of money for one of the most unprofessional hairstyles and was not impressed by managements response.

Nice hair salon! I went in on a sunday morning to get my hair done for a wedding, and it was very calm, clean, and pleasant. My hairdresser, Kim, had great ideas and was fun to talk to. Highly recommend.
