Absolutely DELICIOUS! This is hands down my favorite restaurant in town! The rotisserie chicken is mouth watering and the pupusas are too. LOVE the Salvadoran tamales and the fried yucca and plantains are just scrumptious. They make a mean margarita too! Friendly staff and delicious sauces to put on — well — EVERYTHING! Pickled cabbage? Yes, please! I gotta go back to try their other signature dishes. YUM!

Tried after reading other Unilocal reviews. My meal was excellent, had the chicken & beef tacos along with the chaufa rice & pork pupusas. Place is clean with friendly staff, the friendly owner is out front making sure his customers are taken care of. Check this restaurant out, you won’t be disappointed.

Food was incredible! Waitress was so helpful since it was our first time. If you like rice, you have to get the chaffa rice. Excellent meal. Chicken and shrimp were juicy and good. Enchiladas were good. We will probably stop here on our way back through! Two thumbs up!

I’ve given this place my standard 3 visits prior to making a review and I can say that I am genuinely impressed. The service has always been fantastic and pleasant. I did see a fly one time though(he he he). Chicken is pretty good, juicy, and the sauce is great. Chaufa rice is pretty decent but not worth going out of the way to get(it comes with some orders, I think). Overall, a good experience for something diverse and not the typical tex-mex usual around here. El Salvadoreans know how to make a chicken!

Located in what appears a run down shopping strip, I wanted something different and based on Unilocal I gave it a try. I found a friendly staff and decent Salvadoran style food. Can’t say much for the chips and thin salsa, beef tacos and papulsa were not bad although nothing special. Chicken and vegetable soup was very good. I recommend for those bored with the same old places craving soup or chicken and rice.

I’ve been on a couple of occasions for lunch. Good service and the soft corn tortilla tacos are really good. The charro beans are also good. I haven’t tried anything else but have enjoyed the tacos.

Small place tucked away at the end of a shopping strip. Fabulous chicken and street tacos. My husband got beat up by a fantastically tasty burrito, the burrito won but he took it home for round two later. Friendly staff and fast service.

I would recommend that you check this place out. Honestly, given the setting in an older strip center, I probably would not have stopped here without Unilocal’s help. Hub and I stopped here for lunch and am so glad we did. Service was good and prompt, the place was nice enough inside and the food was really good. My carne asada was surprisingly tasty. Guacamole was really good too. Hub’s chicken tortilla soup was definitely home made and very flavorful. I want to go back there again later this year, when we go for hub’s graduation.

Stopped here again for lunch with my husband — tried the Shrimp Ceviche, which I though was closer to a Coctel de Camarones Estile Mexicano, but it was quite good. The chicharron and fried yuca were great, as was the ¼ rotisserie chicken with sides. I would have liked the curtido by itself, rather than topped with the warm salsa, but it was still good. If you like spicy food, the fresh green jalapeño sauce on the table is an absolute MUSTHAVE. Service was attentive, food came out quickly. Definitely one of the few places in Huntsville that you can count on to be consistent.

Good rotisserie chicken and good papusas. Only disappointment was that I ordered the fried plantains and I’m convinced it was only fried banana. I’ve eaten and cooked enough fried plantains that when I eat them I know. Fried bananas are way too sweet to pass off as plantain. If your going to put plantain on the menu, just make sure that’s what you are serving. But I’m sure I’ll be back, I just won’t waste my money on the«plantain».

If you ask the other people in my department at SHSU, they will tell you — this is hands-down my favorite restaurant in Huntsville. Whenever we have job candidates visit, I take them here. First, the food is delicious. They have lunch specials and I usually order the rotisserie chicken with enchiladas, with a pork pupusa on the side. Mmmmm! The wait-staff is also extremely friendly. I’ve never had bad service. Check them out(order a pupusa) — you won’t be disappointed. 5 Stars!

What a delightful surprise! I Unilocaled as we drove from Dallas to Houston & found this place in Huntsville. Very good food, service & prices. I got the charbroiled chicken w/salad & pupusas, very nice. My man had the Chaufa rice which is a crispy rice dish w/chicken, beans, salsas & pickled cabbage. The margaritas looked good but we had another hour to drive so my guy ordered the Horchata, a creamy rice cinnamon drink. It was too sweet for my taste buds but the man loved it. Nice break too from the bit boring drive between Big D & Htown.

I always get the chicken pupusas with rice and pickled cabbage which is a meal for $ 7. They have a great fruit salad drink. Service is great. The price is alright for a college student could be a little cheaper but, I think if they were in a big city it would be different. Overall I always go.

I have been here several times and I have never had bad service or food. I commute to carbonara from college station and I would do it more often if I had the time. The rotisserie chicken is amazing. Super moist. Pull the meat right off the bone goodness. Highly recommend this place for any of your folding needs. This is the only 5 star place on my Unilocal account. That means something.

When I lived in Huntsville, I was a regular here to get the most succulent rotisserie chicken and pupusas that I’ve ever had but when I was there on last Friday for a pit stop, I just ordered the grilled pork chops topped with sautéed onion, red bell peppers and tomatoes served with basmati rice and salad with a very delicious salad dressing washed down with a very delectable Salvadorean beer, Suprema. It was great to see my old friends and have a great meal. I must also add that they’ve installed some booths that has enhanced the décor. Indeed whenever I visit Huntsville, TX, I will most certainly partake my lunch at Carbonero, great food, service and staff!

Starting with the Elvis Crespo music, the attentive Mario and staff, and the warm hot sauce, this place has it all. The sampler our server recommended was delicious. The beef was full of flavor, sausage, pico de gallo, Homemade queso blanco and even the roasted jalapeño was world class. My daughter ordered a pupusa with beans and cheese; she devoured it and proceeded to eat half of my beef. We will definitely be back on our next road trip from Dallas to Houston. The next time, though, we will skip Buc-ee“s.

Awesome place among all the fast food joints in Huntsville! They are not afraid to make their jalapeño sauce and red salsa spicy which was great. Beer comes in frosty cold mugs and our waitress was VERY helpful when we couldn’t decide what we wanted. All her recommendations were spot on. The chicken pupusa was great, I would order that again and again. The rotisserie chicken was lovely as well — next time I would probably get more of those two and skip the yucca since it was a bit dry/bland for my taste. Hubby liked his rice(it’s sort of asian in nature) so I think I would opt to order that next time as well. Great experience overall and would definitely prefer it over the surrounding chain restaurants!

Looking for a healthy(ish) alternative to fast food in Huntsville, I figured it would be a far shot to find anything– thanks again Unilocal for saving the day. I wanted something to go and was greeted promptly and warmly, shown to a booth and handed a to go menu. They have a lotttt of choices, and had I not already decided what to order based on what I had seen here on Unilocal,I would probably still be sitting in that booth drooling over the menu. I ordered a rotisserie quarter chicken(dark meat), chose charro beans as my side(to be healthier), and it also came with a small side salad. I didn’t wait more than about 4 minutes before it was ready. Every single thing in my to go box was a mother-effing grand slam. The side salad was simple but fresh. The rotisserie chicken was perfectly cooked, moist, and definitely not the type of rotisserie you’re accustomed to buying at HEB– this being a good thing. What really reallllllly blew my mind though, and surprised my tastebuds were the charro beans. Seriously. Skip the rice, skip the fries, skip the other options and get the beans. Perfectly seasoned and cooked with pork, onion, and tomatoes… I may or may not have sipped the leftover ‘bean juice.’ Yup. It happened… it was that good. No shame in my game. Check this place out– located on the end of a shopping center, don’t be discouraged by the unglamorous exterior– you won’t be disappointed.
