Went to lunch here today for the first time with my neighbor and my toddler, and received probably the rudest restaurant service I have ever gotten. I chose to go here because it is close to my house, had a lot of food choices that a kid with 6 teeth could eat, and seemed to be reasonably priced. I ordered a chicken and rice casserole special for myself that came with a side salad, and a grilled cheese sandwich kids meal for my son, that came with chips and a juice box. I didn’t want him to have the juice(too much sugar and I had already brought his water thermos with us), and asked if I could switch it out for some ice tea from the large canteens they were brewing. The lady behind the counter agreed that was okay, grudgingly, and I paid for the order. I then took the cup she gave me(for some reason there were two??) and filled it with tea and sat down at the table with my neighbor, who had ordered the same thing sans sandwich. The casserole came out quickly and was placed on the table. Note to restaurant servers, in general: PLEASEDONOTPLACEPOTENTIALLYVERYHOTFOODORPLATESINFRONTOF A SMALLCHILDWHERETHEYCANGRABITBEFORETHEIRPARENTSCAN. So I moved it over and we waited for the sandwich to be ready. In the meantime, a roach ran across the wall adjacent to our table, which I killed with a napkin and threw out. I didn’t go after the flies, and whatever else bit my arm. So far so good… The rest of our food came out and we all ate in peace(relatively, with an active toddler), until I got up to refill my and my neighbors drink. Or more technically, a half cup of tea for me and some ice for her. As soon as I sat down, another restaurant staffer came over, angrily put a glass of water on the table and grabbed the tea out of my hand claiming that I hadn’t paid for it, and owed $ 1.50. I said that we had switched it in our order because we didn’t get the juice box, and she responded that only«lemonade» or some other non-water item was substitutable, which of course was not mentioned to me when I was at the counter. So, with her still holding my tea in her hand, I offered to give her $ 1.50 for it anyways, despite the fact that we had paid for a drink with the kids meal that we didn’t get because we already had our own water. At this point, I was pretty upset due to her hostile attitude(in combination with the grumpy lady at the counter and the other things mentioned above), and dropped a quarter on the ground as I handed it to her. Apparently that caused a change of heart, and she decided that it was all a miscommunication, and that I needed to take it up with counter lady instead. I need to take it up? Gee, maybe she could have asked me nicely about the situation in the first place rather than grabbing food from me? Maybe the counter lady could have come over and asked nicely rather than sending someone in her place who obviously didn’t know what was going on or give the customer the benefit of the doubt? Who grabs food out of people’s hands??? I’ve eaten out a few times a week for at least a decade(or 6 of them in my neighbor’s case) and never have I had such rude service. Either way, we left immediately. The food was okay. But they have lost my business forever. Or at least until everyone who interacts with customers has been replaced or retrained. And the place is cleaner. NOTE: This review pertains to the O’Shaughnnessy Ave location. The Botanical Garden location is better.

I have dined at both Clementine’s locations and have always loved their food and have even used them for catering events. They recently catered a luncheon I attended and was over an hour and half late delivering the food with no real excuse. Will not recommend them for another catering event!

This place specializes in chicken salad. I was expecting a normal salad with grilled or breaded chicken. That’s not what they mean. I ordered the artichoke chicken salad. I was told by a coworker that was their best item. You order the salad by the scoopful, and it comes with fruit(melon) and toasties(toast cut into bite size pieces). I think 2 scoops is enough for the average guy. I was not impressed at all. It didn’t taste bad; it’s just that I am not a fan of chicken salad. I also ordered the gumbo too, and that was way too salty. Not spicy enough either. Ordering is done at the counter, and the food came quickly, as it is predominantly pre made. Mainly women eat here. I guess they think it’s healthy but the chicken salad is loaded with mayonnaise, which certainly isn’t healthy. I don’t think I will come here again. I only went here because my coworkers wanted to.

CLEMENTINE’S ISNOTCLOSED! Clementine’s is close to work and is our go-to place when we’re in the mood for soup. They usually have 2 or 3 choices every day(although tomato dill seems to be in the rotation more often that not). They have their basic sandwiches, which are just… basic sandwiches. Their specialty sandwiches are quite good and, although I haven’t tried a salad there yet, they look wonderful. Usually I’m eating lunch on the run so carry out is my standard, but when I do have the time to sit down and dine in, I usually order their peach tea. Clementine’s also does catering.

I give Clementine’s 3 ½ stars. I went here for lunch with two friends. I had the soup(tomato dill) and a half sandwich for $ 6. The soup was very good. It had a creamy dill base with chunks of tomato, celery and onion. Along with the soup came«Toasties» which are seasoned pieces of crispy bread reminiscent of large croutons. The combination was hearty and comforting. The half sandwich was the chicken artichoke salad on wheat. It was good but nothing about it stood out. The décor is garden café-ish and even though there are plenty of seats, it still felt a little close in the restaurant. You order your food at the counter and they bring it out to you. Both my order taker and my server were friendly. The server also cleared our dishes but told us to take our time visiting. I would definitely go back because the food was good and the location is really convenient to the 5 points area and not too far from downtown.
