Mullins Drive In

Uh, I don’t think so. Went there since it has reopened under new ownership. Seated ourself and waited 10 minutes for any acknowledgement that we were there. Slow, slow and inefficient service. Finally got our drinks…30 minute wait for food. The food was straight out of the freezer section of the local grocery store. Terrible experience. I’ve been going to this restaurant regularly since I was a small child and went back to relive the experience. I wish I had left memories alone. No more Mullins for me.

Dank, dark and depressing. Ordered the chili which was boiled beef had a half inch of grease floating on top. I have never sent anything back until today. The waitress was sweet and pleasant and understanding, but other staff we encountered were less so. The bathroom was disgusting.

I was very surprised to see that restaurant is still in business. When I was a child, we often dined here. I recall that my last meal at this place was a nasty one — a roach plastered to the bottom of my glass. Live roaches on the floor. I thought that they might have cleaned up their act, but sadly that isn’t the case. There were quite a few people at this very large restaurant for some reason.
When we opened the door, I noticed that things had changed. There is a HUGE round bar right inside the restaurant, which is probably the only thing keeping it going. When we walked in, people looked at us as though we didn’t belong there. We didn’t. Mom and I stood beside the door waiting for someone to seat us. Servers walked by without saying a word. Finally, a waitress told us to seat ourselves. In a restaurant this large, people need to be seated. At the very least, they should have a sign directing people to seat themselves.
ALL of the small empty tables were dirty, so we just sat down at a dirty table. Everything was so dirty. The carpets and tables were just nasty. We waited for some time without being acknowledged, so we got the hell out of there and went somewhere else.

Well, this review is several years too late. Hopefully this will prevent someone getting poor treatment. I used to go to this place often with my family. The last time I went there (several years ago) was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. It was a Thursday night (i remember that much) and not busy. We waited to be seated and after several minutes a waitress told us to seat ourselves. We walked toward the dining area and the waitress murmured «they just keep coming in tonight» and sighed. Now this place was not even a quarter full. We were deciding on where to sit and chose, without realizing, a dirty table. The waitress snapped at us and stated «why would you choose a dirty table.» We walked out and I haven’t been there since. I used to go there and accepted the mediocre service because the food was okay for a reasonable price.

Haven’t been here in a decade or so, and the food/​service were «A-​OK» at that time, so, I’m not really reviewing today, but did want to share that, according to
, the restaurant has been up for sale since early to mid Jan of this year.
So, maybe the future is bright for this long-​standing Huntsville icon!

If you want a place with decent cheap food then this is your place. Don’t expect good service cause its just isn’t going to happen. Also if you expect your order to be correct, guess again. They couldn’t even get my bacon and egg sandwich right.

This place is an abomination. There were few customers when we ate the but the service was mediocre. I had a chopped steak that was inedible and my wife had fish which seemed overdone. The sides were terrible. We ate little but paid and left. As we walked out my wife and I said at tge same fime, «lets go and get something to eat.» Never again for us.

Just came from this place food is awful. Hamburger just nasty! i don’t think that was even beef that was in the hamburger. Fries have you need to add salt. There is a reason why I have lived in Huntsville for 10 years and not been to this place. Lesson learned stay far far away.

For the money, the breakfast wasn’t bad… but service was weird and slow… this place needs Robert Irvine or Gordon Ramsay… I don’t think a dime has been put into this place in 40 years. Too other places out there to come back here.

My bf insisted this was the best restaurant in town, finally gave in even after hearing so-​so things from other friends in the area. Verified the health rating was above 90 for their last 3 inspections. Not only was the service slow, but there was a moldy tomato on my chicken sandwich! A perfectly round mold spot on the skin on an obviously hand cut tomato! Even worse, I didn’t notice it until halfway through the sandwich, appalled I left immediately, bf actually stayed and finished his food and paid the whole check. Also, the cornbread was dry, and everything else was bland.

If I was giving stars for just the cornbread, I would give 5. Delicious and moist! The rest of the food was good, typical meat and three fare. Attentive service, lunch starts at 10:30 and they serve breakfast all day!

Food is average and service sucks. I doubt I will be back

Not as good as it used to be, not sure what happened. I still like their plate lunches with vegetables, but the hot dogs and burgers just don’t taste as good as they used too. But it’s still good food.

I heard about good this restaurant was while I was growing up, but it’s not «my family’s part of town» so we never ate there. I moved back to town recently and realized it is now «right on the way» home from church. I am there every Sunday (that I go to church). The staff is very sweet, and the food is quick (I usually order of the Meat & 3 special menu), and I think extremely yummy! (and cheap!!!). All the waitresses know me now and bring sweet tea and rolls to me before they take my order. :)

Now that I’ve been in town for a few or 6 months, I have to update my review. The service is still awesome, but the food is well… BLAND. When I get to go orders, they add salt and pepper packets to the order, which signals to me that they know their food is bland. Why not do something about the problem then?
The restaurant itself is depressing at times. There’s a TV showing news in a corner and locals (including myself) reading the local paper and the wait staff talking about their day or what they’ll be doing after work, but other than that, there’s not much going on here.
But hey, the food is super cheap, so I still eat here about twice a week.
